ASP :: <iframe> And Asp Includes?

IFRAME
I'm intending to use a IFRAME in one of my ASP page.
What I'd like to know is how to prevent user from directly accessing the
page that is the source of the IFRAME?

E.g.

Main page is main.asp

Inside main.asp..

<IFRAME src="data.asp">

If someone tried to enter ..mysite/data.asp in the browser's address bar, I
would like to redirect him back to main.asp

Using IFRAME
I am using an IFRAME in a custom control with src="Popup.aspx" where
Popup.aspx is a page in the Web control library.
How can I reference this page without having to copy it down locally ?
I have tried embedding it in the Web control library dll and referencing in
the Assembly.inf file using ContentType="text/html" and using
GetWebResourceUrl to reference. But server controls are not rendered using
this mime type and I cannot find a mime type for "aspx" files

Iframe
I've inherited some code which has a menu page
with an embedded iframe which displays the page
corresponding to menu clicks. i was attempting to pass a
session variable into the iframe page. sadly, it seems
that the page displayed in the iframe and the "hosting"
menu page are different session. i discovered this by
placing response.write(session.sessionid) in both pages.
why is this? is there a way to make the iframe page part
of the original session?

Im passing from one website to another ie a link from www.1stdomain.com to
www.2nddomain.com/list.asp?ID=1234
The problem I have is that 2nddomainhas an IFrame which I want to pass the ID .

i made page in asp with iframe and the contents of the iframe is coming form another asp file as a radion button gruop i did not get right result. what i want that the results of radio button groups are redirected in a parent page. so i writ that code so many times with few changes but i did not get right answer the code is.

"x" is the name of first radio group ( But Asp treat it as a first object of radio group so it returns me all the time the vale value against it either it is not checked.

Iframe Trouble
I have a sign-in box that is an IFrame, with a form target of "_top", and
the current (parent) page URL as a hidden field.

If sign-in in successful, there is a response.redirect to the page URL,
having set the session variable LoggedInOK=true.

However, if the sign in is not OK, I want the IFrame to be the target, (i.e.
_self, not _top) to display the error.

Is there a way for ASP to control whether it redirects to _top or _self, as
setting the form target in the Login page requires "pre-knowledge" of
whether it will be successful.

Iframe Problems
I have some ASP / HTML webpages using an iframe to function as a Content
Editor which works fine in IE.

It has javascript preforming actions on the iframe content, such as
putting the text in bold, creating hyper links etc.. However none of
this works in Opera or Netscape, is this totally impossible?

Call Iframe
I have 2 web pages which is a.asp and b.asp. I using iframe to call b.asp in a.asp like below:-

IFRAME - Refresh
It's me again asking about IFRAME.

With UncleWobby, Steven Burn and Roland Hall's help, I was able to create a
proper IFRAME section on my page.

Now I come to the next problem.

I'd like to be able to:

- manually refresh the IFRAME, and
- set a time interval to auto refresh the IFRAME

I've got <META http-equiv="REFRESH" content="10"> in the child page (src of IFRAME) which refreshes the page in IFRAME every 10 seconds. Is there anyway I can

- change the refresh interval value, and;
- set the page in IFRAME to auto refresh or not;

from the parent page but without submitting a form from the parent page (to avoid refreshing the parent page)?

Post To Iframe
Just wondering how (or if it's possible) to post from my
page to another .asp page within an iframe? Hopefully
that question make sense? I know how to launch load a
page with an iframe, but how do I post to a page within a

Open Ftp In Iframe
host has no upload facility. They also block uploading scripts.As she wants to be able to upload files easily I have opened her ftp folder within an iframe when she has logged into her admin functions.

This allows her to drag and drop files when she's viewing in Windows & IE.What I'd like to know is how safe a method is this?what ways can I make it safer?

Vbscript Or Iframe
I have an asp page that when I select something teh content of what I select appears on the page. I know I can use iframes, but it is not to freindly with all browsers, and I can use frames, but same reason. SO, what I would like to know can this be done with vbscript? or is there another way?I am in real bad need of this solution quickly.

IFrame Alternative
does someone knows what's the alternative of Iframe. Actually I have to use IFrame and it works in IE but NS 4.74 to NS 4.78 doesn't support IFrame.

Iframe Height's
I used the iframe in main page. Everytime user click on any link in the page, only the content inside the iframe will be change. The problem is, the content's size(height) that will display in iframe is different. So i can't fix the size for the iframe. (i tried to put the iframe without fix the height for it, only part of content can be display - may be cause of i have few iframes in iframe).

If i fix the size for the iframe, some of page are unable to display nicely(as i don't want to use scrollbar). Anyone know how to solve this problem so the iframe can show it's content with it's height?

I have an Iframe inside my page, just outside this Iframe i have 3 textboxes. I need the variables inside these textboxes to pass onto the iframe page. How can i do this?

Iframe Refresh
i have a webpage with two sections. the first : is a list of categories the second: is an Iframe.

when clicking a category the iframe refreshes and showes me the subcats of that category.
when i add a new category, and refresh my page, the iframe still shows me the old subcats... till i right click and refresh the iframe seperatly...

Accessing Cookies While In Iframe
I am trying to access a cookie my domain made using Response.Cookies("username") = "value". I have no problem accessing this cookie while people are at my site, but when my site is placed in an iframe on another domain, I can no longer access the cookie. I am not trying to access it through the other domain, as I don't control that second domain. So why can't my iframe access the cookie? Since it created the cookie, and therefore owns it through the domain name, I don't see why I would have trouble accessing it. Does anybody know whats going on? Here is a quick diagram incase my explanation was not enough.

While people are at SiteA I make a cookie, and can access it again and again without problems. Then, on SiteB an iframe is placed which has <iframe src="SiteA/file.asp"></iframe>. However, SiteA/file.asp CANNOT access the cookie created earlier.. it comes back as "" (blank/empty).

Setting Focus To An IFrame

I have it inserting a table into an iframe. However I want to pull that table information back out to make changes to it. I am just stumped on how I should go about it. I have the inserting of the table executing through a showmodedialog box. Do I do the same to pull out but how?

ASP Session Lost In IFRAME?
I have a project in which I'm trying to embed one site, that uses
session stored variables, inside an IFRAME in another site (which for
that matter doesn't even use sessions).

Problem is, that it doesn't always save the session. When I try to
access it from some computers, I have no problem, the session variable
is stored and I can browse the site in the IFRAME and everything's ok,
but on other computers, the session variable value simply disappears.

To simulate the situation, assume that the two following html trees are

Associating Iframe Pages
I want to be able to click on my menu system anywhere on my site and the options that is clicked will load that options ( iframe page ) into a specific page that holds the iframe.

Right now the options are only available when on the page that holds the Iframe in question ( templates.htm )but if you are on another page ( index.htm) how do we tell it to load that option into ( templates.htm ) ?I think I need some kind of ASP script that would associate any Iframe page that I specify to the ( Templates.htm ) page.

Iframe First Load In Page
i have an asp.net page that has an iframe in it. i'm using the request to pass parameters to the page, and to the iframe as well, in the on_load function i change the href of the iframe (which also is an asp page)acording to the parameters i received, but it doesn't get them. does anyone knows why? i think it because it loads the page before changing the href. how can i change it?

Passing Variables Into An Iframe
I'm not sure if this is even possible, but i'm trying to pass some variables, that have been taken from the parent page's querystring, and pass the variables into an iframe that has loaded into the parent page.

Session Lost In Iframe
I have an mypage.asp page with a button, one can access this page only

Session("smth") = 1.
There is also an empty iframe in this page (src is not specified).
When I click the button I will fill the iframe with a page (src =
'another.asp').

For security reasons I check the login session in another.asp and
Session("smth") is empty no matter I have logged before.

In mypage.asp Session("smth") is still on and its value is 1 but it
looks like it gets lost in the iframe.

Any idea why and how to fix this issue?

Dynamic Iframe Resizing
I have a script on a site that i am redoing and have used an i frame that resizes depending on the size of the page that is loaded into it.

As im used to using php im not to famillier with asp Is there such thing as a asp include? and how would i do it?

I have a folder structure that looks something like this.

etc.

I want to add a include file from the original folder level from the "inc" folder.
The file of where the include will be used is located within the folder named Layer3 folder.

How do I add in the include referencing the file.
Do i just use".."

For every folder level i want to go up to gain access to the file?
Do i just continue to add ".."?

ASP Includes
My web designer created my site with a header include or something to that effect. My question is this: How do I change each page title to what I would like for SEO purposes? When I put the desired title onto each page, my includes/header.asp file "overwrites" the desired title; thus, every static page has the same title. Creating separate include files would work but would take forever. I have even tried leaving the title tag blank in the includes.asp file and add the desired title to each static page, but the title tag doesn't end up in the <head>, just the <body> tag.

When writing ASP pages that have include pages, is best to make the include pages as txt, asp, inc??? which format would be the most efficient.

I've a big include asp file with a lot of function and subs, some of them with a long html code embebed, in this intranet and I'm not sure if I should break it in a several include files in order to improve the performance.

My question is:

leave it as it is because all that code runs into memory only once , say at log in, or
break it in several others, in order to access the code that really is to be accessed.

I have a table that I am using as a main skeleton for all my pages to use. The problems is that I want other pages to be inserted into a specific cell.

I have a skeleton.asp with 2 rows and 2 columns. I will create pages like company.asp which will have just text in them and they will use the include tag and include the skeleton.asp.

The problem is that I want the text only page to be inserted into the lower right cell on the table in the skeleton.asp. I have seen it done many times but I cannot remember what the tag was that you put in the cell to put the include contents there.

I have a page that uses includes.It has 1 include to bring in a header, 1 for the menu, and then there is a content area.

This content area I need to change.So, for example, the link would be index.asp page=aPage.asp and it would load my page that page witht the header and menu and for the content area include aPage.asp.

What is the script I can do this with. I tried simply using Response.Write and then just righting the <! #include --> tag with the right page in there, but it just writes that without parsing it and including that page.

Includes And CSS
I have an include, which is used as the header of my site, that has a bit of CSS coding in it. The CSS code along with an unordered list creates an expandable menu. The include works great when you view it at its URL, but the menu doesn't expand when a person has to access dynamic pages.

I have found out that the problem is that when the file is included the code is not inside the <head> tags, so thus the menu doesn't perform, or expand. Is there any snippet of code that could automatically put the CSS inside the <head> tags?

I have made my asp pages but the left side navigation menu I want to be an include so if I ever change a link it's easy to update them all by changing the nav.asp file. How can I include the nav.asp file on the other asp sites like adminpanel.asp .

IFRAME Hangs On Web Service Call
We are facing a situation here related to rendering of IFrames in Internet Explorer. The situation is as follows:

We have an ASP that contains some data along with three IFrames in it. The 'sources' for each of these IFrames are set after the ASP page is loaded in the browser using a Javascript function. Basically, this JavaScript function checks if the rest of the page has finished loading and then sets the "<IFrame>.src" attributes for the three IFrames one after another.

Now, each of these IFrames contains separate ASPs. These ASPs call one Web-Service each to get some data and then render it in the IFrames. The problem arises when one of the Web Services in any one of the ASPs fail to respond and hangs up without returning any error message. We are expecting that if one web-service fails for a ASP, then the other two ASPs should execute and get rendered in the corresponding IFrames in the browser. But it does not happen. All the three IFrames hang up together.

Could you please suggest us anything to solve this ?
We want to get the corresponding data loaded in the three IFrames asynchronously, so that even if one fails, the others are not affected. Can IFrames load asynchrounously when called from the browser through a Javascript function ?
