ASP - Form Redirect To Same Page - BACK Button Does Not Work ???
I have created 2 asp pages called testa.asp and testb.asp
testa.asp has a link to go to next page testb.asp
testb.asp has a form that ask you for a reference number and post it
to the same page testb.asp
If the reference number is not blank, it will just write out what the
reference number is.
Now my problem....
If you go to testa.asp and click on the link to go to testb.asp you
will see the form. At this point, if you click the back button, it
till take you back to testa.asp ALL FINE SO FAR.
If you go to testb.asp again and see the form, enter a number say 33
and click on search. This will now show you the number you have just
entered. NOW - click on the BACK BUTTON, it will just show you exactly
the same page ! WHY does it not go back to the FORM in order to refill
in a different number. Code:

Back Button Or Refresh Page OnLoad
how to detect when the user click on the back button to go back to the previous page? Or a way to refresh a ASP page whenever it's loaded?
Redirect Back To Referrer Page
I've got several pages with links. When the links are clicked, a value is posted to 'processing.asp' which does a database update then needs to redirect back to the page from which the link was clicked. Is it possible to obtain the full URL of the referring page using asp? I need it potentially to be able to redirect back to something as complex as: products.asp?Category_Id=3&SubCategory_Id=12 If that was the URL of the page from which it was linked.
Redirect Back To Referring (internal) Page
I want to have a series of links (flags for Italian, English, and German) on the top of every page, each of which when clicked will go to a script and change a session variable called language to the respective language. Once the session variable is changed, I want to send them right back to where they came from. So, if they enter a page on the site that is optimized for "Local Area" and it is in English, IF they click German or Italian it will go to the script, redirect back to "Local Area" with the Session var being set appropriately. Keep in mind though that I need to be conscientous of SEO, so I want to keep querystrings to a minimum. Ideally, what it would look like is this AFTER the redirect: www.mysite.com/local-area.asp for English www.mysite.com/local-area.asp?l=i for Italian www.mysite.com/local-area.asp?l=d for German
Form Redirect On Submit Based On Radio Button Selection.
I need to have my ASP form "post" action=? pass to a different confirmation page based on a radio button selection on the form, after submit. Depending on which radio button they click on, they will receive the same confirmation but then be redirected to a selection specific page, based on the radio button selection. I'm assuming I need to create several different action pages, each with a different redirect, then have the radio button determine which action page the form is directed to based on the radio button selection. I've tried several different options, such as creating a variable on the form, sDirectionVar, with redirect conditions, but I don't know how to call that on submit? I'm not sure I'm even going in the right direction.
AVOID Multiple Form Submittals Via "back Button"
I know there really isn't a way to disable the "back button" on the browser BUT ... I'm trying to not allow multiple entries via a form submit when the back button is depressed on the browser. Basically is there a code snippet that somebody can provide so that when a form is submitted and somebody attempts to go back by hitting the "back" button, that form information just entered won't resubmit into the database?
Send A Form Back From An Asp Page
I have a html form which allows the user to select add, delete, update or view from a drop down list. Their choice is sent to an asp page. My problem is how to send them back a form from the asp page depending on their choice and send the resulting input to the same asp page again for processing. So if they choose 'add' from the html page then that is sent to the asp page and they are sent back another form, to fill out the new record details which is in turn resubmitted to the same asp page to carry out the 'Insert' statement.
Form Submit That Must Report Back To The Same Page An Error...
I have a form submit that must report back to the same page an error if a pair of radio buttons inside the form block are not checked. But data from the buttons must still be sent to another page. I tried having the form send data back to the same page, then putting the data in session variables and redirecting to the page they have to go to. But apparently the session variables are having unpredictable effects on the very complex page I'm sending the data too. I'm thinking about using Onsubmit = somefunction inside of the <form > . I've tried javascript but I haven't found the right code yet, and also I'd rather avoid the popup alert box, it is inconsistent with the rest of the website. Perhaps an ASP subprocedure could do the trick?

Button Won't Work
I am trying to add a button to a menu which it's action is conditioned by a session variable. The button shows up fine but I get no action from the button being clicked . The variable does have a valid value. If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. The code follows: <input TYPE="submit" NAME="Button1" VALUE="Quote Generator"> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript" FOR="Button1" EVENT="onClick"> If Session("RVQuoteAuthority") = "Y" then Response.Redirect(Quote.asp) else MsgBox "No Authority" End If </SCRIPT>
Button Work As A Switch
This is could be a noob question, but I don't know where to look for answer. I wanted to create form with a button that checks a boolean value and computes depend on the value. At the end of the click, it should revert the boolean value. ie, if it's true, reverts to false. or the reverse....works like a switch something like protected bool myBool = true; ...... if(myBool){process 1....myBool = false;}elseprocess 2....myBool = true;} Some how, it works on the first click. process1 got processed and boolean changed to false. But it doesn't work on the second click..the handler was never get called again. What's the problem?.

Adding asp function User will start to add contents in index.asp, then clicked on the "Add" button. the form will post to addContent.asp to add the contents to the database, then prompt the user for Adding contents complete and lastly display the added content to the Index page. Log Out And Not Be Able To Use The Back Button
I am devloping a site with a log in function and it works fine, but what I want to make sure that when the user logs out, he/she can not use the back butten and then automatically enter the protected site again, and this is where I am at the moment. I have tried several no-cache solutions, but they don't work as intended. Users should still be able to go back and forth between pages within the restricted area, and this does not work with no-cache, at least I am not able to make it work. How do I make sure that using the back button will produce either a expired warning page, or redirect the user to the log in page? How would this code look? and what page should the code be in?
Back Button
I used the Macromedia Dreamweaver Login Authentication forms to gain access to my page. The user logs in and logs out just fine. But if they log out, and then click the "BACK" button, then they can return to a secure page that they should have been restricted from. Does this have to do with Session variables?I'm just confused why they would get access. Do I need to clear something that isn't being cleared?I can upload my code, but I'm not sure what to upload, its all standard MMX stuff.
Back Button X3
I want to put a back button on my page, but to back 3x pages is it possible?

Web Address Bar And Back Button.
I would like away to make my users of my ASP application have to use the buttons on my web developed web pages to go from one screen to next. Not allow them to use the back button or go to another web page of my application by using their browser's address bar. I would not want to disable the browser's address bar and back button in case they get knocked off my application for some reason. Just want my application to ignore the clicking of the back button and new entry into address bar that has to do with any of my pages in my ASP application. They all have to same beginning //CEOSH_Web/applications/myaspapp/... Code:

Disable Back Button
I'm having a problem disabling a back button. Normally what I would do is just throw a history.forward() javascript on the preceding page and be done with it. My problem is that the preceding page can either lead to an error or a confirmation page. If the user produces an error and are taken to the error page, they'll need to be able to click back to correct their mistake. If everything is correct and are taken to the confirmation page, then they shouldn't be allowed to get back. Has anyone come across this? I've tried setting a session variable when everything is correct but clicking on Back makes the value of the session variable what it was when you originally got to the page.
Back Button Doesn't Remember New Value
I have an asp page that builds a calendar made up of images for each day. When a user selects a day, javascript changes the day selected and the next 2 days' images to a "booked" image. I place the day's value into a hidden form variable, so that when the user bounces around different months (same page), then comes back to the month with a date selected, the page will remember the day and show the "booked" images for the day already selected. After the user comes back to the month where a day was selected and decides to change the day, then move forward in the "booking" process, but then presses the back button, the page remembers the previous day selected. When the back button is pressed, how can I code the page to view the new day selected?
Using Browser Back Button
On a current website, when I submit a search from a form, the page with results are shown. If I then click page 2 of the results I get page 2 no problems. The PROBLEM then is a user clicking the browser back button. When this is pressed IE shows this error which makes sense but sites like play.com dont have this problem. Quote: Warning: Page has Expired The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you. To resubmit your information and view this Web page, click the Refresh button.
The Browsers' Back Button
I use the following code which simulates the browsers' back button. window.history.back(), but whenever i use this , i get a "404 page not found error . is this related to browser settings?
Problem With The Back Button
On one or two pages if I click on the back button, I get the Page Not Found error messagepage. How can I get it to go back to the previous page?
Select Box & Back Button
Annoying behavoir from IE6, haven't tested other browsers. Have a select box, onchange event submit the form (it's a date). Data is retrieved for selected date. Everything's wonderful User clicks the back button, the previous data is displayed, but the current option in the select box is still chosen, so the date that's retrieved doesn't match the date that is selected. Looks like this is by design, which doesn't make any sense, so I thought of killing the cache. Is this acceptable practice in an ASP app? It's an internal business app running on our intranet if that makes any difference.
Disable Back Button Of Browser.
How can I disable back button of a browser in other words not allow the user to go back to the page from where they have come to this page when they click back button.
With Postage Calc And Back Button Please?
1. I'm trying to create an image button that when clicked returns the user to the previous page, however this changes so I've been led to believe that Response.Redirect ("HTTP-REFERER") would be a good command to use. This is to appear on my shopping cart so when a product is added you can click the button and return to the page just left done by 1st line below. But if the contents of the shopping cart are deleted to zero products it takes you to a "shopping cart is empty" message the button may then need to travel back possibly numerous pages is there an "if page="****.asp"" command so it ignores the page until it finds another url page then goes back to that at the mo the bottom line just takes you to the homepage?? Code:

Force Refresh On Back Button
I'm writing a math quiz. Every time the page loads, random problems are generated. The student enters the answers in text fields. They submit the form and the answers are checked. if they were to press the back button, the same page will be there, and the student can fix the wrong answers. Is there an elegant way to force the page to refresh when the student presses the back button?
Is It Possible To Disable The Back-button, From The Server Side??

Our Website is hosting a Siebel website, and the problem is that Siebel has problems with the use of the back button in internet explorer. I can't make a customized internet explorer because the site must be accesible anywere.
Cookies And Response.redirect. Do They Work Together?
I am having trouble with ASP cookies. Scenario 1 An ASP page creates a cookie then calls another page. This second ASP page then reads the cookie. This works fine. Scenario 2 An ASP page calls a second ASP page. First page has a standard HTML form on it which the second page then validates the user input. If the user has made a mistake then page two writes a cookie (user details and error message) and a response.redirect sends us back to the first page. The first page recognises that it was the second page that called it (via a parameter sent as part of the URL) and reads the cookie that it knows page two created. This does NOT work. The cookie is either now not there or the contents are null. Questions: How can I tell if the cookie was created or not using IE6? Cookies are enabled and no cookie appears in the Temp Internat Files folder in either scenario. Also it is possible to see what is in a cookie, apart from using ASP? Is it not possible to use a cookie in conjunction with a response.redirect (seems unlikely)?
Back Button Problems With Dynamically Generated Pages...
I have a web application done in Cold fusion but I think this may apply to other dynamic apps done in asp etc. I have a "list" page which lists items and is generated from a database. When you click on the item name it passes the unique itemID in the URL to a "details" page where more info about that Item is displayed - standard drill down proceedure. The problem is this - when I am on the "details" page I cannot go back to the "list" page in NN or Mozilla - in fact the browser back button is grayed out like the first page never existed. This does NOT happen in IE - the back button works as expected. Similarily, java script solutions like <a href="javascript:history.go(-1);">back</a> also fail in NN and Mozilla but DO work in IE. I think this has do do with the dynamically generated pages and the above mentioned browsers not "remembering" them since they are created on the fly - but why? Since things work fine in IE there must be a simple solution to this problem...
