ASP Page Not Refreshing Recordset On Post

I have an VBScript/ASP page that lists bikes that are checked out. For each checked out bike, there is a button to check it back in to the system.

Problem is, that when a bike is checked in, it is properly removed from check out in the database but will still appear in the recordset when the checked out bikes are re-listed.

Recordsets should be destroyed after a page is rendered -- correct? I've tried multiple methods of forcing a refresh to no avail.

I included the following (and multiple incarnations of it) at the top of the ASP page just below the language declaration. Code:

Refreshing The Page
I am creating one website using ASP. there r various users, who logs in & access the page. for this i m storing userid in session using session("userid")=username, & according to that i am giving access. in every page i am checking , if session("userid")<>"" then response.redirect("login.asp") end if.

when user clicks on logoff link i make session("userid")="" & response.redirect("login.asp").

This works fine the first 2 times I call the page but after the second call, all future calls get the data for the same year as in the 2nd call. If I click on "Refresh" and then try a different call, it works as expected. I suspect the I am getting a cached page (why?).

Page Refreshing Incorrectly
I have an asp page that gets populated from a SQL Server database. Normally
when the page gets displayed it displays the current record from a select
statement that can return lets say seven records.

The problem I am having is when I click the refresh button in IE, the page
displays another record instead of the record it was displaying before I
clicked on the refresh button.

I cannot figure out why it is doing this. Has anyone experienced a similar
problem? If so, what solution did you come up with.

e.g. something like this:

if Session("FileName") <> "" Then 'a file is ready for download

response.redirect (Session("FileName"))

** check if download successful, then set
** the tray info accordingly and...

response.redirect thispage.asp
end if

Of course the second response.redirect never gets called, is there any other way I can do this?

How To Make A Hierarchial Tree Of Option Buttons Expand Without Refreshing Asp Page?
I have a list of broad categories. For example:

Pacific
Central
Eastern

Each of them are preceded by an option button. After the text, there is a plus sign. (this means that I can click on the + sign and then drill down further). For instance:

Pacific
California
Nevada
Oregon
Central
Eastern

Similarly, if I want I can drill down California, if I want to.

Now my question is:

How can I drill down each of them without refreshing the page ? Every time I click on the + sign, the whole page refreshes and then I have to scroll down to see the break down list of the hierarchial tree.

Please suggest ways of doing this dynamically. How can I expand my hierarchial list without having to lose the focus on my hierarchial option tree?

How To Chain Page To Page With RecordSet Data
I have a form.htm page where the user enters an ID to retrieve addresses. Then PAGE1.ASP displays the addresses. From here the user selects an address and submits. Then PAGE3.ASP brings back further information. My question is how do I use one field from the address information on PAGE2.ASP to display on PAGE3.ASP? How Do You Post Form Data To Another Page?
Here is the situation:

1. User fills in form and hits submit
2. Some processing is done with the posted data using ASP
3. The posted form variables now need to be submitted to another script which only receives POSTed data.

How do I send the posted data to another script? I can't run step 2 on the next script as its validation script and I'm going across two servers.

Web Page Listener For POST Message Problem
I created listener for POST message from client as a simple web page and process that message in Page_Load method. If I use url for posting message to my listener with explicit web page name http://myserver/formhandler/listener.aspx it works without error.

But my clients will need to post message using url without mentioning page name like this http://myserver/formhandler. In IIS for formhandler virtual directory I set default document as listener.aspx. And now my issue starts: server responds every time with error 405 Method not allowed. I set properly mapping for aspx extension in configuration to allow POST method.

More Than One Recordset In A Page
How do I call more than one recorset in one page. I get -1 recordcount for the second recordset.

Use Recordset Across The Frame Page
I'm trying to build a page which has two frame, one is hidden and the other main. The hidden frame will have all the neccessary recordset and variables.

and main has forms and functions which should retreive data from hidden frame to use it on the form. I noticed it's possible using javascript but i'm building page with vbscript and have not found a way to do it.

The reason I'm trying to do this is to reduce down the server traffic. The page will get local variable rather than accessing database everytime user request some values.

If this is not possible, can someone tell me how to store recordset into session variable? so it can be used across the page.

Re-submit A POST Immediately From A Previous POST
Is there a way to 'force' a submit on a form with out actually allowing the
user to press a button ? For example...

step1: A from is filled out by a user, then they click the submit button.

step2: The form is 'post'ed to an ASP page which writes the values to a
database. So far No problems. But..

step3: Now I want to 'post' these values again to another page without any
user interaction.

My ideas were:

1) I know you can get the form values from Request.Form("myVar"), so I
thought of making a 'dummy' form and setting the 'values' of the form
variables to these Request.Form("myVar") valiables, but I don't know how to
'submit' them to another page again.

2) Is there some type of 'submit' command in ASP?

Refreshing An Image
I am working on a Classic ASP site. I have some code that displays an image based on the results of a record in a database. What I need is for this image to reload every 20 seconds. Refreshing A Form

Content Not Refreshing
My pages are not refreshing content. Sometimes they refresh after a minute or two.

Refreshing And Repopualting
I have created a popup form that will allow the user to update the database with the new lookup values, but in order for that value to appear on the drop down menu I will have to automatically refresh the main page - I guess when the user clicks the submit button of the popup window. Is this possible and if so how?

If i do a refresh of the main page any information that the user has entered is going to be lost. I know i can submit the main page's form to itself so that i could repopulate the form using Request.Form to get the values that have already been input.
If there is a way of doing an automatic refresh can I submit the existing data as well and how?

Refreshing Using Code
I'm trying to set up a refresh of some of the data on a page and am using this:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="120">

This works great with one exception. I only want to refresh one grid on the page, not the entire page. I have the values I don't want to refresh in the "is not page.postback" if statement, but because that line is apparently doing an entire refresh of the page, the if statement doesn't behave like I'd like and all my other data gets
refreshed too.

How do I set it up so a page is "refreshed" but does not act like a post back so I can refresh just what I want? I would prefer to avoid doing this in javascript if I could.

Refreshing Frames
I have 2 frames called button and face, when I logout, I need both these frames to refresh, but Im unable to make button frame refresh (the logout is done in face frame). I put onload="top.button.refresh();" on the page that displays the logout message, but it did nothing, any help?

Web Pages Not Refreshing/updating
I am have problems with certain webpages not updating. I am using ASP with an SQL database. My problem is that the data is not being changed on the screen until the refresh button is clicked.

I am writing an ordering system and all seems to work when the user initially enters data. I have a couple of view the user can see the order in different ways. However after the initial view, and if more has been added to the order, any subsequent visits to these view pages require a click on the refresh button to view the added info.

I have also noted that any session variables do not change until the refresh is clicked

Hoping this is enough info for someone to steer me in the right direction.

Url Appears In Title Bar When Refreshing
I have ASP page. I dont want to show the address of this page. so I have opened the ASP page in a window which dont have the address bar. so the problem is apparently solved.

but when I press F5 for refreshing the page the address of the page appears on the title bar for sometimes.

Chatpage Refreshing Problem
I'm currently making a chatprogram in ASP, I use meta tags to refresh the screen: META HTTP-EQUIV=refresh content="3"

The programme is working fine, but the way it is now, the page sort of 'hangs' for half a second, every time the screen refreshes.

I already looked at the code of a lot of working chatprograms but they all seem to be using meta tags. Is there any way to solve this?

Refreshing Table View - Asp/javascript
I have an image map on left side of a table and on the right side of the table I have a adodb database loop showing cart contents. I would like the right side of the table to refresh when user clicks on the image map without the whole page reloading. I have looked and looked and looked but I cannot find a solution ....

Changing Drop Down Boxes Without Refreshing
I have two drop down boxes that are linked via an ID and a parent_id.

I would like to choose my first option and then have the second drop down box load everything that is under that ID without refreshing the page.

Form When Refreshing Parent Window (only FF)
i have a simple form with about 20 dropdowns. if the user preferes they can go through each dropdown with the question in a pop up window.

In this popup window they enter each question one at a time, once they enter an answer and submit the page reloads and stores the answer in the database and goes to the next question. At the same time the popup window forces a refresh on the main form so that the value selected in the popup is now seen on the main form as they go through each question.

My problem is that when the main for refreshes with new values to be selected FF does not change the value on the drop down. but when i go to the source the correct value is selected. I do not have this problem in IE everything works as it should be.
