Can't Connect To SQL Server 2005 Db With Asp But Access 2k3 Is Ok.
I am about to migrate my asp web pages from a previous well functioning connection with Access 2003 to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition instead. I have created a database in SQL Server called "test_db". As far as I know I have not set any particular user id or password for the database. In this microscopic database I have onnly a single table called "name" and in this table I have two columns called "fname" and "lname". I have two records stored in the name table. What I want to achieve is simply to display these two records in my asp-page. How can I achieve this and what am I missing here?

How Do I Connect To SQL Server 2005 From Within My Asp Webpage?
I have had a web server up an running for a while based on Access 2003 and asp code. Now I have decided to upgrade the database to SQL Server 2005 (not the express edition). The problem is that I just can't get it to work properly. During the installation I was prompted for an instance name (I chose the default radio button). I am using windows authentication on a Windows 2003 Server OS. I have created a database called "testDB". This database has only 1 table called "testtable" and this table consists of a single column called "name" with just 4 records. I want to display these records in my webpage. VS 2005 Web Page
I have just created a very simple web page/site in VS 2005. I have saved it, built it but when I try to display in a browser it takes about 20 seconds and then comes up with "the page cannot be displayed" error. Being new to C# and the .Net environment I"m not sure what to go look for. I was using VS 2003 without any issues.

I am trying to set up a classic ASP project in Visual Studio 2005, and I am unsire of how to debug the global.asa file (I can debug a classic ASP file, though.): 1) Set a breakpoint on any ASP code line and run the debugger 2) In Visual Studio 2005, Select Debug --> Attach to process... 3) Click the Select.. button in the Attach To section 4) Highlight the inetinfo.exe process from the list and click Attach I can stop on a breakpoint in an asp file, but how can on stop on a breakpoint in global.asa? If you have to start the application first and then attach to the process, aren't I already past global.asa?

I have an ASP web app with an SQL back end. It's currently connecting to an SQL Server 2000 database using an ODBC DSN. I am currently migrating to a new Windows 2003 Server machine and SQL Server 2005 Express. As usual, the app doesn't connect right away, but I've gone through all the new Windows 2003 Server security issues and I'm able to get a normal ASP page to display. I can also connect to the SQLEXPRESS when I use visual studio or MS Access on a remote machine, even using the same ODBC DSN, but for some reason, I get an error when trying to access it though ASP. Classic ASP Problem On 2005 Upgrade
I'm seeing a VERY odd issue after moving my data from a SQL2000 DB to a SQL2005 DB. About half the time, when I request a value (using ors.fields("pagedata") for instance), I get nothing returned. I know there's data in the field, and I'm on the correct RS object. Sometimes, when I move the call to another portion of the page, I get the data (while on the same RS object). I need to move to a new server running 2005, and folks are starting to chomp at me.

I have recently had the pleasure of installing Norton Internet Security 2005 and finding that I can no longer create or open a web-based application in Visual Studio .Net. The IDE just freezes. I tried fiddling with the configuration settings of the Norton Firewall but was not successful. I tried launching IIS from the Control Panel and it would not launch. I saw one article in Groups.Google from a previous post that the individual was eventually able to unravel the mystery but they did not list the specifics of what they did.

Debugging Messed Up On Classic ASP After Installation Of 2005 Express
I'm working on XP IIS5.1 in classic ASP 3.0. After the installation of the 2005 Express Suite and the beta .net2 framework that ships with it(http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/vwd/) the debugging with classic ASP has an odd behaviour. I use option explicit on all pages. When the parser finds an undeclared var or function or there is some error in a stored procedure (not in the ASP page but in the SP itself) I receive no error reporting. The page simply renders till that point and stops. All the other errors are reported as usual.

My code retrieves a username and a password from a form. Then this information is compared to some usernames and passwords that are stored in a database. The important thing here is that the comparison must be case sensitive meaning that "passWord" is not the same thing as "password" I have this code, working fine in access 2003 SQL = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE StrComp(username_column,'" & entered_username_in_form & "',0) = 0 AND StrComp(password_column,'" & entered_password_in_form & "',0) = 0" but get the following error when I run it against my sql 2005 database. I need to read a SQL Server table into a Web Page and within the Web Page to permit my users to make changes to the records, delete or add new records and then save the entire contents back to the SQL Server table back. The functionality I am looking is almost the same as In the SQL Enterprise Manager whereby I can choose a table open the table and then return all rows and I can maintain the same and save it back to the SQL Server table. Combining Index Server And SQL Server Search Results
I'm just about to start a project that needs to combine the results of a SQL Server query with the results of an Index Server query. The basic idea is that the user enters/selects a bunch of search criteria on a form. Most of the criteria selected by the user will be used to select records from the database - standard WHERE clause stuff - but the user can also enter free-text that should be searched for in associated uploaded documents. The documents are sitting in the file-system with file-name pointers only stored in the database (not the document). Only records where the associated free-text is found in the documents should be returned. I'm new to Index Server and am wondering how is this done. Any good references/tutes?

External Server Pull Files From Internal Server
I have an application that needs to pull files from an internal server. This is the setup. The web server is external facing, meaning exposed to the internet. I then have a file server that sits inside our domain. I created a COM object that can impersonate a user to retrieve files from that server. However, I cannot get the application to pull files from the internal server. I first tried a domain account that could reach both servers. This did not work. I then had the network team create the same account on both machines. This is not working either. I would like to know if there is a way to be able to save the content of the CHL Statistics WebPage on our Server and using it to update our Microsoft Access 2000 database. Server Not Serving ASP To Some Clients? Including Server Itself!
I have a server that we installed a Web Application (ASP) and It works with a few clients that we tested, IE 5.5, and it does not work on the server machine itself. So we've tested a few thing. Created a simple file with the contents of <html> <body> Hello World </body> </html> Made one with .HTM extension and one with .ASP. I can see the HTM file from all machines. I can only see the .ASP file on the machine running IE 5.5 The server itself cannot see the .ASP page. We places the files in the root of the server web and in the Application folder with the same results.

I fire the following code on Index Server (different obj) and it returns a PDFs no problem, but when I change the object to use the MSSearch for Site Server I don't get any PDFs. Post File From Server To Another Server
I accept a few user inputs and a file from the user, post it to my ASP page. I'm able to receive the data as well as the file properly in Receiver.asp. In my receiver.asp, I need to process the user inputs and subsequently POST this data and the file again to a different server. I would like to use ServerXMLHttp. Now, how do I simulate Form creation in receiver.asp. I use the following code to post to the second server MyXmlHttp.open "post", myTargetURL,false MyXmlHttp.setRequestHeader "Content-Type", "multipart/form-data" Now here's where I get stuck. 1) How do I construct the form data? How can I put together the data i received (which is text) as well as the received file (which is Binary) in the same Send statement for the Post? -- I assume that if HTML forms do it in some format, I should be able to simulate the same through ASP, but how??? 2) The received file will not be stored anywhere in my server. Server.execute Permissions On Server
I have a website and use server.execute quite extensively. The website was put into production and at first all worked great. but some users were getting to my site but an error message would pop up stating page was not loaded properly. TO many users it looks like the website simply does not exsist. What happens is that when the web page (www.cheapbatterypacks.com/main.asp) gets executed it will fail for "some" people at the server.execute point. Here is a good example of the problem. In my shop I have 3 computers on the same network. connected to a dsl connection etc. All have internet access all run IE6 etc. 2 will pull up www.cheapbatterypacks.com just fine. but 1 will not. maybe some of you will see the same error. if you type www.cheapbatterypacks.com/loosecells.asp it will pull up fine but that file is supposed to be loaded by the server.execute function and not run on its own. so now I am pulling my hair out to try and get these other folks on board and working. How would something be so selective like this. COuld it be me webserver settings? And even if it was how come it appears to only affect some people. This is a public website so there are no logins/passwords etc meaning they come in a anonymous and have only read/execute permissions. I am still running windows 2000 server with all Sp's patches etc. IIS 5.0.

Error In COM+ While Migrating From 2000 Server To 2000 Advace Server
I have one 3 tier architecture application running on Windows 2000 Server. I have created replica of same machine on another machine where OS is Windows 2000 Advance Server. But when I port same running application on new machine i.e. Machine with OS as Windows 2000 Advance Server, my middle tier (Active-X Dll, COM+ application) fails. It throws common error Invalid Procedure Call or argument What could be the problem? Do I need to change any settings for running application on Windows 2000 advance Server.

Server To Server Communication?
Is it possible to communicate between two servers using IIS and ASP... perhaps overriding the response and request? What I want to accomplish is do some database synchronization from a laptop copy of a web app to the live version, this would be done once the laptop is connected to the internet. The laptop user would enter an ASP page which would send data to the live server (perhaps to another asp page specializing in translating the data), which would then send back requested data in the response and/or accept updated data.
