Write To Text File In Password Protected Directory
I have a form mail script that sends an email and then writes to a text file using Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject").

The problem I am having is that the information needs to be saved in a Password Protected Directory. When I try to save the info it gives me a permission denied error.

I had my hosting company change the permission on the directory and the script was working ok but now it isn't.

Is there a way to pass the username and password in the script so I don't have to worry about the hosting company messing this up?

Register .exe For CreateObject
I made a small executable file in VB, compiled it and threw it in the Bin folder of my virtual web directory, however when I try to run it from an ASP webpage I keep getting the error that it can not create the object.

After some googling everyone seems to say that you must register the .exe with the server first. My question is, how do I go about registering the .exe file with the server (I have admin access to the server) so that I can use it in my ASP webpage.

Register Txt Sends Me Where
This regards a listing of youth events. I have a Access DB that users input to. A page where users can view input and the events. I use Dreamweaver to make this. When entering informaiton into the db a user would enter in the Event_Reg field the site where a person can go to register for the event. I would like to make a Link Titled "Register" for all events that users enter into the db.

But when a users clicks "Register" it would take them to the site specified in the Db Event_Reg field. Below is the dynamic code I am using now. It will produce the actual site address. I just want it to show Register when clisked take them to the appropriate site.

Do I Need To Initiate/register CDOSYS In IIS 5?
I downloaded your "A Beginner's Guide to CDOSYS" article I
displayed the Sample1.htm page with the IE6 within
a web folder. The page display perfectly. I filledin the
e-mail info and clicked send. All worked without any error
message. I destination e-mail address never received
the mail. Do I need to setup IIS 5 first? Register it
somehow. Please advise. I'm anxious to use this built
in component.

My ISP is Comcast. My OS is Windows 2000 server Pro.
I setup the MS Outlook for outgoing mail. Outgoing mail
with MS Outlook works fine.

Individually Password Protect Multiple Directories? Password Expiration?
I have a client who wants to password protect a learning course that is set up in modules. Each module needs to have it's own password protection so users can only access them as they progress through the course.

Each user should have their own password (for each module) and, said client would like the password to expire for the user at some (predetermined?) point. Is this possible? It seems like a lot (in terms of setup), but I don't know much about password stuff.

If it is possible, can someone give me an overview of how it works (theoretically) or where to find more specific info on setting something like this up (in ASP.net)

If it isn't possible, can someone suggest what is more reasonable in terms of protecting the modules?

Sessions Lost?
I've got two sites, on the same server, with the same pages (ones for test,
ones live) the only dif that I can find is the global.asa has different db
strings.

The sites (that I didn't write) are using javascript (not jscript,
javascript) as their ASP serverside language.

The sites login, set some session values, then redirect to a .htm that
builds a frameset and loads some pages. This redirect is losing all the set
session values on only ONE of the sites. Any ideas where to start?

Lost Passwords
In my access database i have 2 tables called seceret question and secret answer. I would like to provide users with thier passwords without using emails. There would be a screen where they can enter thier username, secret answer then thier password will be displayed on the screen. Or alternatively they could just enter thier username and thier password

Lost Session
my site apears to be loosing its session variable because it uses dynamically created absolute links. but because the user could have entered the site using any of 4 domains the links might change the domain.

So the user sees no difference but the cart has lost its session. firstly, is this possible? Secondly can I determin the url used to find the site and use that in the dynamic links?

Lost Session Variables
I have a website that has a asp secured members only aria that keeps
session variables to check if someone is logged in or not (if session
variables are not there then redirect to logon screen) but I also have
non members aria and I need a way of asking the user if they want to
move away from the members only aria or go back to it. I have used an
asp to find out if the page is a non member page and if there is a
session variable there.

If there is a session variable and is a non
member page then I use JavaScript to bring up a confirm box that if
the cancel button is pressed then it goes back a page. The problem is
that when you go back a page the session variable gets lost. Dose
anyone know how to solve this problem or a better way of doing this?

Session Variables Are Lost
I have a problem with my asp code on an iis 6.0 server on windows 2003
web. When I redirect between to asp pages on my web-site, where pageA is
in a different virtual directory from pageB the session variables value
a lost. I know that it is the session ID there increases. (New session).

If I make the same call in the same virtual directory the session
variables is not lost. Is it some thing about different application
pools? If sow, how can I join two or more application pools regarding
to session variables? If not is there a none coding work around.

Form Data Being Lost
1. A Form which is a drop down menu, posts selected value to the same page.
2. This page connects to a database and depending on the selection from the form. the results are displayed for that selection.
3. This page needs to refresh to pull updated data from the data base.
Heres the problem..
I have the form and page pulling the correct information and displaying it on the page, but when the page does a refresh the value selected from the form is lost and then no results will show.

Session Lost Across Page
What could the likely cause of a session value being lost when one navigates
to another page and attempts to write that session out:

Page 1

Navigate to Page 2

Response.write Session("u_name")

....."_name" seems to be empty on Page 2.

What am I doing wrong here?

ASP Session Lost In IFRAME?
I have a project in which I'm trying to embed one site, that uses
session stored variables, inside an IFRAME in another site (which for
that matter doesn't even use sessions).

Problem is, that it doesn't always save the session. When I try to
access it from some computers, I have no problem, the session variable
is stored and I can browse the site in the IFRAME and everything's ok,
but on other computers, the session variable value simply disappears.

To simulate the situation, assume that the two following html trees are

currently i working on project in asp, i done everything in my own company server and eveyrthing works fine, when i migrate to customer place server, eveyrthing also working fine, but the only thing doesnt work is session variable, i totally cant get my session variable in the customer place's server. Server in my company and my client is the same, window 2003 server, iis 6.

Lost Session Variables
I have built a site that works/worked absolutely fine on my test server. When I transferred it to a remote web host (the intended permanent home of the site) something very worrying keeps happening to my site.

I use, as is the norm, session variables to store login information. At the top of each page I do a check that Session("isLoggedIn") = "True", and if not then the system logs them back out.

The serious problem is that once you have logged into the site, the next page you try to open it fails the above check and logs you out! Obviously Session("isLoggedIn") is not equal to "True" so it assumes you aren't logged in. So basically the session variables are getting lost/cleared. This makes my site unusable, and is a disaster for it unless I can get a solution.

Catch Lost Session
Is there any way in ASP to catch a destroyed session when the user closes their window.

Example.

When a user enters a page, I create a session - Session("blah")="blah" . However when the window is closed, the session is destroyed, but before it's being destroyed, I want to some things.

Lost Session Variables On Redirect
I have a normal login page that (upon clicking submit) checks whether you are part of a particular office and then redirects the user to their particular office's webserver.

The problem i am having is that when i redirect a user, to a securewelcome page, they lose their session variables causing them to have to login again. What am i doing wrong to make these variables get lost in the redirect? Is it because i am redirecting to a different webserver?

Web site accessed by multiple users at the same time. Some user data are
stored in a session variables. Randomly one user view data of another
user.

It ocurrs in two different machines.

Request.Form Collection Lost On Submit
IIS 5.0, ASP, and https://

I have "DataEntrypage.asp" which is a data entry page(about 250
data elements includes text boxes, radio buttons, check boxes, drop down
boxes etc).

After the data validation through javascript(form.action =
"ProcessData.asp" )I post this page to "ProcessData.asp" which process all
the database transactions like updates, deletes and inserts.

At the begining/top of the "ProcessData.asp" I loop through
Request.Form collection and store them in a text file on the WEB SERVER.

Once in a while the whole Request.Form collection is disappearing in
the text file. At that instances it is creating the text file with size of
1kb but it is not
showing any thing in the file.

I checked and it is not loosing the session information.

Load Xml With Asp Lost Central European Chars
my problem is that i load an xml file (which displayed well in iexplorer standalone) with an asp file, and the page displays o instead of Å‘, u instead of Å±, so my central european characters are changed. the xml well formed, and well encoded. i hope ;)

Then in other pages I find out which member I am dealing with by looking at this variable, ie:

Lost Data If Using Server.Transfer Method Only In IE, Not In Firef
Our asp programs seem to have different behaviors when users use IE and firefox. One of most annoying things is the data disappearing problem in IE but not in firefox.(Note: Sometimes a search program can run much faster in Firefox than in IE, don't know why)
For example, I have an internal user interface which they can do different product data
entry, the program will use Server.Transfer to different asp program for data entry.

When user finished data entry on test1.asp(second page, the web address will still show UserInterface.asp page as you know), click continue, on the third page if they found something typed wrong, if they click back button in the broswer, all data on the second page is gone. This only occurrs in IE, Firefox is fine.

It's very annoying, how can I fix it, if not, is there any other way?

After Redirect Back From 3rd Party, Session Variables Lost
My ASP page 1 redirect user to third party's website,
after the process at third party is finished, in 3rd
party's page, there is one link to route user back to my
website: ASP page2.

As the user do all of these actions in the same browser, I

cuz when he hits the "back" button he can access the pages again.

I am facing a strange problem, let me explain the problem and list two different platform i found on some of the client pcs. Problem :-
First time login in to my application page is ok, but if click logout, it wouldnt bring back to login page, it just stay as it is. But if you click on one of the link, it push back to login page.
So for second time to login, no matter how many time you try, it would not able to login.
And i found out if i clear those IE's cookies and offline file, i can login again.

And there is only happen certain user's pc, some others user even with same spec have no problem. And I found out if i login into window using different domain user, it does'nt have problem. Is it something to do with user profile of IE setting

I am using a tracking where the S/W shows the status whether the user has logged in or not. I am able to do the same if the user logs out using the proper link. If the user closes the window instead of logging out using the proper link, i am not able to capture the logout time. I tried the window onunload event, (the page contains frames) it does not work.
