Saving Code In A Database Via Use Of A Textarea Form
i have built an interface for template making. i am using a simple form with a text area and submit button to save the code, i want to show in a template page, into the database. I also use the same textare to view any code saved to the database for a specific page. THE PROBLEM - i have to save a response.write("<textarea..............></textarea>") the minute i paste it into the textarea it saves it fine but shows it wrong as if once it reads the </textarea> in my saved code the main page 'closes' the main textarea . i.e. the rest of my saved code is shown as part of the page - and its not pretty!

I made connections to a SQL Database and to an ACESS Database with using the ODBC Tool from WIndows!! Saving Images While Saving ASP Pages !
When I try to save any ASP page, I get the message that "The page will not save correctly". Even though I go ahead and when I go offline the space of images is blank. I have an sql statement like this executed with asp and mysql. select * from table1, table2, table3 How can I read a specific field from a table when tables have same fieldnames. So for example table1 and table2 have both a field named content. What I would like to do is: contenttable1 = recordset("table1.content") contenttable2 = recordset("table2.content") But then I get an error like item not found in recordset. If i do this it works but i don't know which field I read from: contenttable? = recordset("content") I know that it works with Access but I can't get it working with MySQL.

Call Php/mysql Database From ASP
First I'll answer "why". Because, while SQL Server is available, it is also "expensive". MySQL is CHEAP and a lot more robust than Access. Is there a way to add, update, retrieve, and delete data from a MySQL DB via php (or ASP for that matter) back into ASP? Could someone create a basic script to look at so I could see how? I hope there is a way to do this. Wouldn't it be advantageous for MS to do this or to make it easy to do so to be more competitive?

Connect To MySQL Database
I'm a PHP developer and i've been asked to do some development for a site which is on a web server which only supports ASP. I had planned to have a bash at writing an ASP program (first time) on this server which will interact with a MySQL database on another web server (my company's web space). Would this be possible, or should I try and set up the database on the same server as the ASP pages (this may cost money, which is why i'm hoping the first option will be possible)?

Grabbing From MySQL Database In ASP
I'm doing a website in PHP/MySQL but its an IIS server - THUS no sendmail. I've used CDONTS to send email in ASP before but this time its a little different I have a MySQL table called 'emails' in a database called 'db'. The table has Key IDs from 1 to about 50 that correspond with different email addresses. I want to use CDONTS to Grab the email addresses from the MySQL database one by one and in 15 second intervals send out the same email to each address. I know this sounds a bit 'spammy', but it's a band website with a mailing list. Only about 50 or so entries. I'm trying to set up a mailing list manager and the only missing piece is this damn emailing script.

Restore MySQL Database
I am moving my site from one host to another. I got all the scripts moved over but now I need to import my MySQL database. My previous host has a tool to create a .sql database dump. However, my current host limits the size a database dump can be for using phpMySQL to import the database. Is there any way I can FTP the .sql file to the webserver and run an ASP script that points to that file and executes all the commands? The .sql is 300,000 lines.

Search MySQL Database Query
I'm creating a database search page and the table I want to search has fields linked to other tables in the database. For example, the job table has a number of fields, 2 of which are area and job type which are tables in the database. ADO Streams And Binary Data Held In A MySQL Database Blob Field
Has anyone else found a memory leak using ADO streams to access binary data held in a database. I have searched through this forum and have not come across anyone else, so maybe it is just me. The scenario is as follows: Windows 2000 SP3 MDAC 2.7 SP1 IIS5 MySQL 3.23 MyODBC 2.50 If I query the database and do a response.binarywrite everything works fine and no memory leak. eg. response.binarywrite myrecordset("blobfield") If I read the very same BLOB field into a ADOstream I then get a memory leak in DLLHOST.EXE of how big that binary field was. ie If the picture is 140k in size DLLHOST.EXE increases its memory size by 140k. This keeps on happening until DLLHOST.EXE is something like 250 MBytes in size at which point it stops working. Quick restart of the IIS Web service and I get all my memory back. The command I am using to get the data into the ADOstream is picturestream.write myrecordset("blobfield") I have also tried putting the binary data into a variable first before inserting it into the stream: set x=myrecordset("blobfield") picturestream.write x The stream is closed and set to nothing at the end of processing. Everything is cleanly shut down. Through testing I know the memory leak occurs once the data has been written into the stream. The stream is correctly created as type binary. The stream problem I am encountering does not seem to be limited to ASP, I tried it using Visual Basic to create a COM component to do the same job and still got a memory leak. So the questions are: 1. Has anyone come across this before or fixed it? 2. Is there another way of getting binary data out of MySQL, something like the opposite of LoadFile? I have wasted so much time on this problem but cannot find, having searched Microsoft's knowledge base and the rest of the web, any reference to the problem.

Saving XML As UTF-8?
How do I load and save a UTF-8 document in XML in ASP/VBS? Well, the loading* is not the problem actually -- the file is in UTF-8, and understood correctly -- but once saved, the UTF-8 is replaced by what seems to be iso-8859-1 (which Flash doesn't understand, but that's another problem).

I'm currently doing some work with ASP and XML DOM. Is there any way when saving XML to get ASP to save it in a formatted way? Similar to PHP's formatOutput setting? Saving To Another Server
i can't seem to think of a way around, this maybe more of a security question but htought i'd give this forum a shot first. I have server A and server B IIS on A but not on B I have a webapplication that needs to save a file on server B. I can't set up a virtual directory with B since it doens't have iis i believe. If i were to do shortcuts or mapped drives those i think would use the credentials of the internet user i believe which won't have access to the directory, at least that's why i think it won't access them. Can any one think of a clever workaround this? Can i just set the permissions to allow internet users to write to a folder on server B and it'll save that way?

Saving Unicode In SQL Using ASP
I have an asp application that should allow the user to enter Unicode characters. The characters appear correctly in the browser. When saved in sql 2000 thought they are converted to question marks etc. When I enter the characters directly in SQL (using enterprise manager), they appear correctly in sql as well as in the browser when the asp page retrieves them. As soon as I hit save they get overwritten in sql incorrectly.

Saving Passwords
I made a website for my work and we have it secure to where you have to login when you come to the site. But for some reason when you use the check box to SAVE PASSWORD it will not save the password. ASP/SQL Date Saving
I live in the UK and thus our standard date format is: DAY/MONTH/YEAR In my ASP page, when i try to save a date value to a date field in my MS ACCESS database, it will switch the day and month around if the day value is less than the month value. EXAMPLE: Try to save the 1st of February 2004 as 01/02/2004. When this is saved in to the database, it is saved as 02/01/2004. This plays havoc with my search pages as they cannot find that date since half of it has been swapped around. Ive tried saving it as a string in to a text field and it still does the same.

Saving Dates
I am building a site using ASP & MS Access. I will be migrating the database to Oracle 8i when it is built. I have some date fields on one of my pages which are optional, i.e. users don't have to put dates in them. Saving Files To Acces DB
I have created an access DB with a few BLOBs in it to upload files to, all good and well this is working fine. However found out I can not write the data directly to the BLOB as I have to upload the file first to the server and than read it with the ADODB.Stream object. This is like a double action: first I have to write the file to the server and only then I can read it to the DB... Is there anyway to do this all at once, I.E. read a file from the client and as I am reading it to actually write it to the DB???

I have been playing with some things and with lots of help from Doug and Techniweb I have a script that parses data from a sports web page and returns the results of a table with all the html stripped out - or most of it anyway. Now I have been working on saving the info to a file so that I can input it to my DB.
