Can someone please suggest me a text editor especially for DEBUGGING ASP scripts apart from Microsoft Visual Interdev? I tried using Visual Interdev & created a project but Interdev generates some error related to FrontPage extensions. I couldn't exactly understand the error. I tried to create the project in C: Inetpubwwwroot. If I just open a ASP file by navigating to the File-->Open File... menu, then Interdev doesn't give the option to debug. Please do not suggest using Response.Write, Response.End etc.

I’m looking for a good standards compliant Rich Text Editor to replace texareas in forms so that users can format text (bold, italic, etc.). I work in an ASP environment with Dreamweaver, but these are not strict requirements. A dreamweaver extension that is based on ASP, is standards compliant and is not branded would be ideal, but anything would be fine. The most important requirement is that the product be standards compliant.

How do you change the form that the data is posted to? I changed the name of the form in the action statement in RTE_message_form_inc.asp, however the data is still posted to display_message.asp and not my code.
Rich Text Editor To DB And Db To TextArea
I have a rich text editor which if you write anything and press toggle button can give you the html version of the thing you typed. What i want to do is..i want to get this HTML version in my DB field..but when it gets inserted it doesnt get inserted as pure HTML.For example my html <p>smile </p> should get inserted into DB field as <p>smile</p> but it gets inserted as :<P>smile</P> How do i tell the DB that its html syntax and i want to keep it as it is?

I work mostly with PHP but occasionally a client can only use ASP on their server. Is there anyway I can develop in ASP for free? Is there a stand-alone ASP editor, that can execute ASP code withotu a server? Can ASP work under Apache for free? Does ISS come with Windows XP Home? i have a table which saves stories written by different students. its a simple thing..no problem in it. but what i want is that when a teacher selects the story (ie. when she retrieves the story from the databse which the student has saved), she should have extra rights. like she should be able to mark corrections of spelling mistakes by strikethorugh, make something in bold, or highlight in red. how can i achieve this. has anyone done something similar to it?

I would like to know what good editors are there for asp pages? Dreamweaver MX does not show the asp page correctly, if it was not made using it's templates. Is there a better software for asp? I would also like the software to debug asp, etc. About what software can you recoomend?

I'm using Visual Studio 6 Interdev for my ASP pages, but reading from some posts here and there I've read people don't use it and use other editors. What other editor could be better? Right now I can do step by step debugging with Interdev, with watches and with an immediate window just like in VB6 where I can see values of variables as the program runs. Are there any better editors that let me do the same thing? (pref. free of course)

ASP Online CSS Editor
Is anybody aware of an ASP-based online CSS editor? I'd like to be able to manage my site's CSS files online. Ideally, I'd like to be able to change the colors and such online, then have ASP write the changes to the styles.css file. I know I could have dynamic asp tags throughout my site that would pull the styles from a database, but I'd like to just write to the text file. I haven't seen anything in aspin or hotscripts, so I was wondering if anybody has seen something out there.

I need the simplest online html editor available for a content management system I am building for a client. I would normally just use a text area, but they want to add links and have the option to bold/italic text, so need something I little bit more advanced. I don’t want to give them anymore options other than that as this will reduce user error and keep the correct look of the site. The content management system is very simply ASP to MS Access database. Does anyone one know of any freebie html editors I could easily adopt into my system.
MS Database Editor
Is anyone familiar with this feature in Front Page 2003? When editing a record, I want an email sent to an address in one of the fields when I update the record. This is not as simple as some would believe and I don't think it can be solved with the ususal asp mail solutions.
Editor Features?
I want to use a simple editor which has the capability of changing color or bold it... a very simple one in my application of asp/access. Can anyone suggest any such editor whereby I can use it? my purpose is to get story written by a student in the textbox/textarea of that editor from the database. The teacher highlights using the editor features.... making letters bold or in red to highlight changes. and then save it to the database.

I would like to edit some of the databases on my site but I do not have any version of Microsoft Access. How would I go about doing this? Is there an .asp script that I can use while online via my browser? get a simple HTML editor textarea for a CMS I am building in ASP. All I need the textarea to do is format the text i.e Bold,underline, Italic and more important have the ability to add a hyperlink to words within the textarea. Html Editor Error
I don't know if any of you have come across this problem but i'd appreciate some help in rendering the situation. If i add an unordered list into the window it works well <ul> <li>user</li> <li>pass</li> </ul> But when i edit it it comes out as so: <ul> <li>user <li>pass</li> </ul> The only the last li tag is closed the est are left open and to be able to render the html "xhtml 1.1 transitional" properly it fails. Is there some regexp that has been written to fix this?
Make Your Own Site & Editor
I have a preatty cool website builder and editor. It alows the user to make pages, edit, and delete them. It also makes the navigation bar for the user automatically. You can even change the colors, your user id, password, secret question, and more. The editor allows the user to use an editor like the one here on sitepoint. I was wondering, are there anymore features in asp that I could add? Any suggestions would be greattly appresiated. By the way, I am using a database, I believe it is access 2002, not sure, but I do use a SQL statement to connect to it.
Form Validation Within FCK Editor
Within FCK Editor is there any way of doing form validation? For example You create a form and want to add two text fields and a submit button. At the moment i guess the only way to do is editing the html, does anyone have any good solutions that overcome this problem. I guess one could add a checkbox when adding the textbox that says validation but not sure how one would go about actually get this validation to work.

I need an inline HTML editor for my ASP pages to modify database content because it's for use with people who don't know how to use HTML.Hopefully it's modifyable to a point because when you make links and what not, you'd have to add "class="contentLink"" in order for the site's css coloring to take effect (hopefully the ASP code or Javascript code allows customizing)

Server Side Jscript Asp Pages Using Visual Studio.net Ide As Editor
I have visual studio.net and i use it to edit my asp pages. And I use JScript as my server-side script. On the page property, visual studio.net let me change the server script language to either VBScript or JScript. I change it to JScript but afte I close the page and reopen it , the property goes back to VBScript. and all the syntax coloring goes back to how VBScript color them. where is this kept ? like in a .ini file somewhere ?
International Text And FSO Created Text Files
When using ASP's FileSystemObject to create text files, I am unable to get user submitted text (in Hebrew) to save as anything other than "?????". The text file is being saved in Unicode and setting the CodePage in ASP proved unsuccessful. Strangely, hard coded Hebrew text in an ASP variable does add to the text file correctly. Any ideas of why this happens and how to get it to work correctly?

Text Box In Form Cutting Text
I have a form on asp page that pulls info from a DB when the page loads. It them puts the info into text boxes on the page that are editable by the user. The only problem I have is say in the description text box it should read "HP Laserjet 5Si" , it always cuts the text off where it just says "HP" .. It does this on all the text boxes? Regular Expression Of Text OR Text OR Etc...
I have text in a field coming from a database. The text has various forms such as: text1 text1 or text2 text1 or text2 or text3 text1; or text2 text1; or text2; or text3 etc... how can I parse this with a reg ex? I tried this: (.+);? or but it only captures 1 submatch (text1) and only if theres an "or" after it I'd like to get 1 submatch for each piece of text separated by the "or", just the text itself if there is no or. Anyone know how to do it?
Controlling Text In A Text Area
I have this problem in controlling a text in a Text Area. How can I do that, for example the field size is 200, when it reaches 50 it automatically goes to the next line. Because im having problem when viewing text in my report, it continuesly views in a straight line. Can you give me ASP code for that.

I'm trying to make a text box for comments. I know how to put one value into a text box like name, but i'm not sure how to pull multi-values. I want to be able to display the time,user and comment in a text box. I don't know how to go about this. The comments are stored in a different table and there can be many comments for one policy. What i did was i have asp code the displays all the comments and puts it into a table, but i want to put this into a text box not sure how to go about it. I am trying to create a text box in ASP which automatically populates itself with the person's name who is currently viewing the page.I want it to retrieve the name from Active Directory.The text box populates itself when the page is loaded. I'm putting a standard mail page together, that will allow my users to sent templete emails out to people. The files are stored in textfiles.I have come up with a script to produce the names into a Select list, but know i'm wanting them to be read into a textarea box,to allow me to submit them into from the form into the sendmail.asp page! but the only way i can pass them out, is into a iframe, whichd oesn't seem to allow me to then pass them into the sendmail.asp page.
Getting Text Into SQL
I have an ASP page to be used as a Softball Roster. The user will enter their roster information and the information will then go into a SQL database. My problem is this... I keep getting this error "String or Binary Data would be truncated". I figured out what this message meant and I have printed my variable to the screen to see what I get. As an example what I get for my variable PlayerFirstName is Joe, John, Henry, Alex. I only want one name at a time so that I can import them into SQL. How do I parse my line apart so that I can loop through it and pull off only one item at a time and put it into SQL?
