WAV Music File Length
Would a 3 min 32 sec WAV Christmas Song be too long to import into the Flash library. I ran into a problem with my current graded assignment when I attempted to import this particular 3 min 32 sec song into the library. I got a message on the screen that all the files couldn't be copied....so the import failed. I wouldn't be attempting this except I really wanted this final assignment for the semester to be special. Can anyone help me with this? I can't shorten the sound file as it would result in an awkward result....or am I on the right track that the file is simply to long in which case I need to find another Christmas Carol or song as a substitute of shorter duration?. Please advice. I would appreciate it

what i wanna do is ..i wanna have a url link to a specific song_id, for example

and i want flash to to grab that song_id, and then load it into the player... i hope that makes sense lol

Pause Music In SWF File?
When I play back SWF files from Newgrounds that have background music, and I pause the movie with Enter, the music pauses as well to keep in synch with the animation. Yet when I play back test movies in Flash, the music keeps playing even when I pause the animation. Why?

Preload Music.swf File
I've created a flash movie that consists of 2 SWF files, one for the main Flash movie and the other for music only.

In the main movie, I have:
Frame 1-3 - simple percentage preloader
Frame 4 - action: loadMovie("music.swf",1); (to trigger the music)
Frame 5 - starts the movie

The problem is, the movie starts before the music plays. The percentage preloader only preloads the main SWF file but not the music file. Is there a way to preload "music.swf" also so when the movie plays, the music will turn on?

I'm a beginner here so any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

AS 2 Flv File And Background Music At War
I am attempting to build a flash site in which there is background music (with an on/off switch) and on one of the particular pages, there is a video (streaming flv) that automatically plays once that page is accessed. The problem lies in that when the I am on the video page and try to turn off the music, the video turns off as well!

Initially i was using the stopAllSounds method, which made perfect sense as to why the problem was occuring, since the scripting was not tied to any particular sound. I then discovered a tutorial on this site (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/sound.htm) which involves creating a new sound object and having the off button specifically point to that same sound object in order to turn if off. Still, whenever I attempt to turn the music off, the video still stops as well, even though the scripting speaks specifically to the background music.

Ultimately i am not sure if the error lies in the actionscripting or perhaps in the video configuration, but I am suddenly at a standstill, and unsure what to try next. If anyone can shed some light on what I am doing wrong, I would be forever grateful... please help!!

Flash Music File And ASP...
I asked this question in the ASP forum and didn't get much reponse.  Thought I'd try over here.

I've got a client with an ASP/VBScript site who wants music to be added.  I know I could add the exported music swf to each page, but the problem is obviously that the loop would start over with each page load.  Is there a way with an html site to have a site wide music loop that runs seemlessly from one page to the next?

I know IFrames are one option, but I'd like to avoid them if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Music File Question
Hello

Would someone please advise me how I may pinpoint the layer/frame that a music file begins on? I have a music file which I wish to change.

All I was going to do was identify the layer/frame and presumably I would see the music file in Properties. I was then going to substitute it.

The music file I have only lasts for 2 mins; do I need to 'loop' it so that it plays repeatedly and how would I do that?

HI guys,

I've been working on this for a couple of hoours now,
but still i don't get it...

the problem:
When I load my site everything works, the preloader, de popup screens from the buttons.

But when i put a loadmovie(music.swf....(etc)) in the main movie with a target, it somehow loads but doesn't play the sound.

Does anyone recognize this or now how to fix this...

Low File Size Music Player?
Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could help me with a music player I am trying to make for a band web site. I already have a volume slider for the music, but now I want to know how I can have a play, stop, and skip track button. Synchronizing Music File With The Movie
I am so ashamed. I have been doing a multimedia CD rom for a company including an intro with an apropriate music for it. I have been testing it at home, at work it all worked very well. (On newer processors 1,5-2,5 Ghz). But when i went to the company to present the latest version with the music on it, i got ashamed. Whether it was because of the slower computer or because of the media the movie was comming from, a CDRom, the movie was running much slower but the music was playing normal, so my music file finished earlier than the intro! How can i fix this? The music file is synchronized with some events. It needs to be. Also it need to be running throughout the intro. No pauses.

I decided not to use a music (wav) file and want to delete it from my file. I deleted it from the library and also the layer it was on. I publish the file and the sound still plays! I have no idea how to get rid of it!

I imported an MP3 file to the stage and started working around it to synchronize the actions with the music. When I hit "Ctrl+enter" to test the movie within flash everything seems synchronized but when I publish to an SWF, the synchronization is off...

Is there something I need to do so that it's synchronized when published?

I am done with the project, and I need to add music. I want to put 2-3 songs to play while searching through the movie.
I want the music to stop playing when I jump back, and then play the song I have designated to play in that frame. I've tried to add music before. But, when i jump back a few frames the music doesn't stop, and then a whole new song starts playing with the one that was already going.

Sorry to break it to you but MP3's are Not the smallest music files.
There is something called Music Modules and sound exactly the same as a CD Quality MP3, but at an astonishingly smaller file size.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Simple really.
Instead of including every chord for every intrument, Music Modules only need One chord thats about 1 second long, for all the instruments.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF A Music Module?

I though you'ld never ask!
An ordinary Music Module of about 4 minutes length is about 370 Kb.
An MP3 of 4 minutes length is nowhere near that!!!

WHY ARENT Music Modules SUPPORTED IN FLASH YET?

That's also simple!
Developers are too afraid to ask Music Modules be supported. It seems that Macromedia has enacted some sort of unwritten rule that basically states that music is not as important as graphics. The studies they undobtebly have show that the audio quality, or should i say, music experience, is not an important factor in multimedia and the online experience. The problem is, these studies were done with big businesses and corporate types, not the rest of their Flash userbase.

HOW TO GET Music Modules INCLUDED?

Do some reaserch about Music Modules yourself and see if this is what you really want. The benefits outweigh any negatives in my opinion. Post repeated threads on the topic, on this or MM site. Email and formal Letter are a great way to go about it, especially if you present yourself as an important business entity that uses their product and is a bit peaved that an important technology like this has been overlooked by MM, hinting that they are slipping and don't know the newest technology trend.

Lastly,

If MM doesnt take the necessary steps to include Music Modules into its Flash technology, we need to gather up support for a GPL Open Source project that Will incorporate Music Modules, as well as vector graphics and the rest, like Flash has.

Don't Sit And Take Up the Bung Hole from MM. We should be MM first and foremost priority. Period...... Not Big Business!

Download A Music File In Flash MX2004
Hi,

Can anyone help me with this problem. I have developed a music site using Flash MX2004 and would like to offer a small download facility. After searching forums it seemed that the best way to do this was to use PHP and ASP because MX2004 did not have the inbuilt ability to do this. Unfortunately when I use the PHP I only get 1K of data downloaded (it completes extremely quickly). The PHP script I'm using is in the attachment.

Can anyone suggest what I can do.

Stop Music File Loaded In The Timeline

I have an MP3 file loaded in the main Timeline at frame 1 and it loops (background music loop). And I have a simple button to shut down the entire site sounds

Flash Music Player Embedded Into Html File
Hey there.

I have a webpage with a SWF, that is a music player, embedded into an html/php file. although it works fine when you load it seperately as a SWF, it does not load up at all when it is part of the webpage.

If you click on the option to listen to the song, either one will load an embedded SWF that does not load the song. As I said before, if you play it as a SWF on it's own, it loads fine.

n00b problem, I bet. However, why is it being like this? It's a streaming file that should work.

Hi all… I have a rather interesting problem. I am using simple music player that I found somewhere on flashkit, I have been editing it and making it my own. I am using flash MX (not 2004) with Flash player 6 files.

Now my question… Is there a way to check to see if a document exists, (or a swf file loads) inside flash?. The reason is I plan to use two different servers to push my music out. One is on a T-1, and the other is a mirror on a T-3 connection. I want to keep my T-1 connection from going down by using a site mirror (the T-3) as a “Fail over” for my music files only. My music files will be accessible from a second apache server process that has a very limited connection count (probably around 10 or 15 connections) and will give a 503 error if to many connections occur, denying access to the file. I would then like the Flash music player to fail over to the backup T-3 server. Is this possible?

I would think that there would be a way to check to see if a loadMovieNum() happened and then fail over but I am banging my head against the wall trying to figure it out. I guess another method would be for flash to detect the 503 errors from the web server, but again, I do not know how to do that. It seems everything I try with my if/else statements fails :-(. I pretty much just need to know the condition statement I should be using :-/.

[CS3] Sound Loop Question: 90sec Music File Loops After 2 Sec?
Hi guys & gals, I'm working on my first web design project and am stuck on this problem. I have a 90sec (approx) music file that I want to play in the background and keep looping til the person leaves the site. When I test or publish the website, the music starts looping after playing for only 1-2 seconds. How can I fix this? I really need help asap, I have a deadline fast approaching and this is the only thing holding me up. Please help!! Also, here's what I've done so far:

- Googled for help and also read 'sounds & music' section here on Flash Kit
- Imported sound file as a .wav and have compression for mp3
- Added the music to the layers panel and timeline
- In 'properties' have the music set to 'Event' and 'Loop'

When I test the music file or go to play it, it plays fine. I don't know whats wrong here.

Hi! My question involves looping audio in flash. I already know how to make a section of audio in an audio-editing program that loops and make it loop continuosly in Flash. What I would like to do now is take an audio clip that has an intro section and a "body" section and after the intro has played, loop back to the beginning of the "body" section continously. I assume it would involve sending it back to a specific millisecond?

Anyway, can anyone help me out with this one? Or is it even possible?

Hi, i'm looking for a script that preloads my music. once it's loaded it should start playing the music with a fade in.
