Importing Flash A Flash Document To A New Flash Document
Hi, I have two sets of flash documents that im wishing to import in to each other. What im wanting to do is on one of the documents to have a button called "map" and then linking it to the document called "map" (and then vice-versa). I've tried importing .swf file in to one of the flash documents but i dont think that's the correct way in which to do it. The two documents are saved in two folders on my desktop called "map" and "treasure hunt".

Is it possible to use something like an ".import" command on the button to import the flash document?

im working on a rather frustrating project at the moment, and it's starting to get to me :D

Inner Document Linking With Flash
this is giving me a hell of a hard time. i'm using flash mx. i have a single document with named anchors down the page. i have a flash navigation. when selecting an item from the flash nav, you are SUPPOSED to be taken to that section of the page. again, all one html file with named anchors. i've tried linking to #name_of_the_anchor in flash but that doesn't work. also tried index.htm#name_of_the_anchor, didn't work either. any help would be much appreciated...

my folder tree looks like this if it helps...

index = 'site_folder/index.htm'
flash = 'site_folder/flash/nav.swf'

Importing A Seperate Flash Document
Hi, I'm trying to import another Flash file into my Flash document. What im trying to import is a file with script that handles email, so a "contact form", but i want this to sit in my original file? I've tried searching for: MovieClipLoader classes in Flash but with no luck. Bit of a novice here so could really do with a heads up.

Linking An Html Document To Flash MX On A CD
Here is the problem. I am creating a CD-ROM that is done in flash MX. Three of the buttons link to seperate html documents. The CD will contain all files and will be an auto run CD. This is the problem I have the html files in there own folders on the CD and have the script on the buttons in Flash as such

getURL "../renier1/launch.htm","_blank");

should it be...

getURL "../renier1/launch.htm","_self");

When I take it out of the folders and leave it on the root of the CD it functions fine but the html document is an audio powerpoint presentation so as you can imagine there are alot of files that would need to be brought out and onto the surface of the CD. Plus the people who created the html files labeled the three seperate html documents by the same name. If I can add a character to each and put all the documents on the root I think that will work but I wanted to stay away from that.

I want to import the spider effect listed on ultrashock into my Flash document. I attempted to copy all of the frames and library items over which seems to almost work except that the spider just sits there and doesnt do anything. Any Ideas. Flash MX / Multiple Playable, Linking ,swf's In One Html Document
Basically, I am trying to try something very interactive. I'm trying to have 2-5 differint flash movies in one webpage. And with in one of those navigation flash movies, be able to change another flash movie using the main navigation one. So somehow I need to define a target and then telltarget to change swf.

Keep in mind I can't use javascript in the html.

Flash In Layer And Flash In Html Document

I have a flash which is put in a layer(flashfile1), and have another flash to be put in the html file(flashfile2), flashfile2 is lower than flashfile1, when flashfile1 is displayed, flashfile2 would be on top of it (in Netscape, IE is ok), any solution? I want flashfile1 to be always on the top.

Getting The URL That A Flash Document Is In?
Is there a way for Flash to get the URL of the document it is in embedded in?

For example if I was on www.abc.com/hello.htm and I had Flash embedded into it, how can I get Flash to echo "http://www.abc.com/hello.htm" without actually putting the URL into the actionscript - but automatically getting the URL of the page the flash is on.

I have created a flash document that works fine and a flash animation separatly, i have pasted the layers from the animation into the other document but it is in the top left corner and i want it down the bottom, is there any way to move all 340 layers at a time or work around this?

Use PDF Document In Flash?
Hi folks, happy new year!

Quick question: Since Adobe makes both PDF and Flash, is it possible to open a PDF document inside a Flash application? I would like to have a PDF document as the background of my Flash drawing package, and then be able to draw on top of it using some flash tools (like pencil, polygons, etc) that I am making.

Flash And A Pdf Document
Hey there- I have a project involving a 40 page pdf file. My plan is to display the 40 pages using Flash.

I understand that I have to separate and convert each .pdf page into a .swf (flashpaper2), then load each one to a movie clip via XML. I want the user to be able to click on a page number and be taken to that specific page, but also obtain the capability to scroll through each page. Perhaps even a magnifier to zoom in on areas and print button at the top.

What I'm not looking for is a page flipper, as those are extremely annoying.

Does anyone know a good tut on a similar set up, or can provide any in-site on how I would get started with a project like this?

Flash Outside The Document
I've noticed on websites like yahoo that they have Flash advertisements that annoyingly move around the screen, or pop up in the center of it, even though the ad itself is on the right hand side of the screen. I need to replicated this to prompt some users to take a survey. How do they do it so that the ad moves "outside" the document plane?

Flash MX New Document Publishing
I'm pretty new to flash mx. I have a question about publishing.

In Flash Mx you have the option of saving the flash movie in a flash movie format or in a html format with the file extension of(.htm or .html). If I save the flash movie in html format doesn't the movie then become an html page making the movie download onto the web browser like a typical html page? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of creating your webpage in Flash as suppose to Dreamweaver? Doesn't that also eliminate flash's streaming capabilities when you save it in html format as suppose to flash format.
I developed a flash document and I saved it in html format.
The web page took forever to download. At the same time I went to another website with alot more media rich content and photos and it downloaded the webpage almost instantly. If I want to take full advantage of flash's streaming capabilities should I create my webpages in dreamweaver and just ad the swf to the file or what? I'm totally stumped here with this concept.

I am confussed as I have set my document page size to the reccommended size of 760x420, but when I view it on the internet the web site is small. It sits in the upper left hand corner and has alot of white space on the right hand side and at the bottom. I'm new to the site, and a little rusty in Flash after graduating and not using it as much as I Should. I'm creating a portfolio website thats going to be done in flash. Does anyone have a recommended size...I want it to be pretty big bigger than 800x600. And also, when i put my flash document into Dreamweaver, should i create a nested table? Whats the difference? I want my flash document to be the entire size of the browser window, i don't want it to get chopped off by the dreamweaver background. Hi, I'm designing an animation for a website and I need to somehow place a preloader for it on a previous page. Is this at all possible?

.swf File Within Flash Document
Hi there,

I am working with a flash document and there are a bunch of separate .swf files that I want to have within the flash document.

What I am working on is a software course. The idea is to click a play button and have the swf file open within the same screen to avoid having separate windows being open.

The problem that I have encountered is with the first swf file. I've imported it to the library and just by doing so, it has made the .fla file EXTREMELY slow. And there are still several .swf files to import.

What can I do to make these files less of a pain in the neck? Is there a method to reduce the file sizes?

Getting Flash CS3 To Read An XML Document

I am trying to get a flash movie to read an xml document, the specific purpose is for a local scoreboard on my site, yogreg.com (which is currently being constructed), basically I want to be able to update scores, team names, etc. but I have tried pasting some code into the actions panel and honestly it has turned out to be a big mess. I have started over many times, each time starting a new folder for the project, where I have placed the xml document, the swf of the scoreboard and saved the fla (which I have read doesn't really matter, but I still like things to be nice and neat). Now I am trying to import through the strings panel but I have no idea what variables to put where. here is my xml document:

Swf Filewithin Another Flash Document
Hi,

I am trying to put a quiz I have made into another flash document (basically this document will have some other things happening it.

When I import the quiz .swf and publish the new document, the quiz runs through all its screens without stopping and keeps looping through them, without clicking.

In the standalone quiz.swf, obviously you have to click through the screens using the mouse, and that works fine.

How can I get it to work so that the quiz will be part of the bigger animation, and still require you to click through the screens?

Pay-Per-Document Flash Site
Is there a way to create a Flash page, where a user can buy credits to buy documents?

This is what I'm trying to make:

Web site that sells Documents, Flash Videos and Audio.

Users need to purchase "points" to redeem for the above assets.

I don't want the user to download the the above, but to be able to view it through a flash viewer.
(Just so they can't download it and send it to friends.)

Publishing A Flash Document
I am very new to using Flash. I have a document with several layers, many of which are text. When I view the via the timeline and the play feature, it looks perfect. However, when I save it as a .swf flie, it completely loses the smoothness of the animation and the text is no longer in the right place. What am I doing wrong?
