[F8] Passing PHP To Flash- Trying To Display Image With HTML, Not Working?
My Flash is correctly passing PHP variables to my SWF, but I'm passing a variable with HTML in it, and instead of loading the image, it loads the text, literally.
Here's my PHP file-
<?php print "myVar=<img src=http://www.tiffanydavisphotography.com/online01.jpg>"; ?>

Passing Variables From Html To Flash Not Working Any More.
I have had complaints from a few previous clients that their flash files weren't displaying. I have looked at them all and the problem is that any flash file with a variable passed using the url method just hangs.
eg. anything with something like this in the embedding code just hangs:
Code:
< param name="movie" value="flash/myMovie.swf?myVariable=123" >
I am completely baffled by this. Any suggestions anyone? The file hasn't changed, the html page hasn't changed, but it no longer works!
Cheers

img_txt.html=true
img_txt.htmlText=_root.txt
} else {
trace("error in loading data");

HTML Field Display Not Working Properly On Net
I'm using an XML file to dynamically load info into a textfield which is .html = true and htmlText is placed into the field. One such entry looks like the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
<glossary>
<entry>
<term>Rural</term>
<definition><![CDATA[According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, 'frontier' areas are defined as having less than seven (7) residents per square mile of land. 'Rural' areas have less than 15 residents per square mile of land (ADHS, April 2005).<li>Arizona has 4 frontier counties and 4 rural counties. A total of 10.7% </li>]]></definition>
</entry>
</glossary>
This works fine when playing back locally on preview in Flash. On the net, it actually shows the html markup, despite having the field set as html and using htmlText to populate the filed. Flashplayer 9 all around. Any ideas?
Detect Flash / Display If Have / Display Image If Not.
Im using PHP so this is for "programmers" who use flash (or anyone who knows php enough to make a detection script).
I need to have a flash movie displayed on a page if it can determine whether or not the browser has the flash plugin. If it doesn't (ie can't tell what version, no plugin, etc) then I want it to display a GIF/jPg instead.
Using PHP and Flash 5
Help appreciated.
Passing HTML Form And Hidden Variables From Flash To Html Page
Hi,
I have a html/flash site now, http://www.zachariack.com.
i access email from my site itself by giving the userid and pwd text box which i copied from the actual website hosting my email access. i copied the entire
<form...></form> tag to my page and thus was able to put the name and pwd in my home page only and access the email in a separate window.
now i have redesigned my webpage using only flash. i would like to know how i can implement the same using flash. as i have not much experience using action scripting i am a bit stuck about how you pass the hidden form variables. the below is the the exact form syntax:
<form name="form1" action="http://www.accudatanet.com/mail/msglist.php" method=post>
<input type="hidden" name=sid value="E9697301F704A0CE947DEF42CF86636A">
<input type=text size=15 name=f_user value="">
<input type=hidden name=six value=0>
<input type=password size=15 name="f_pass">
<input type=submit name=submit value="Login >>" class="button">
</form>
how do i implement the above using action scripting. thanks.

Dynamic HTML Textbox Won't Display Flash Generated HTML?
I'll TRY to keep this simple... Keep in mind that the Hand Coded HTML works. It's the HTML that Flash writes that doesn't....
How I create the file:
------------------------
1st, I created a movie in Flash that has a HTML formated input box. So when I type things into that field, Flash automatically generates the HTML into the variable for the input box.
Next, I take that variable and display the HTML code in a dynamic text field. Then I copy and paste it into a text file, assign it a variable (myText=....), then I save it to my harddrive.
Got me so far?
The Problem
-------------------------
I have another movie that is just supposed to load the txt file and display the code in an Dynamic HTML text field. However... Flash can't seem to read the HTML that it creates? But it can read the HTML that I simplify and hand write. Does anyone know what I can do to use the Flash generated HTML?
Here is the code in the movie
----------------------------------------------
Code:
loadVarsText = new loadVars();
// load the text file
loadVarsText.load("scroller.txt");
// function which fires when the data is loaded:
loadVarsText.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {
// activate html
scroller.html = true;
// myText is var to put in the textfile
scroller.htmlText = this.myText;
} else {
trace("not loaded, try again!");
}
};
Below is what i'm loading into my movie. It's the HTML that Flash Generates from the input box, and below that is the HTML that I hand coded. HOWEVER I CAN'T GET THIS TO DISPLAY THE HTML CODE
FLASH CODE

Display Variable From Flash In ASP Page Not Working
I've search high and low for a simple answer and am now at my wits end.
I just want to take a single variable from a flash file, and using getURL, send it to an asp file to display the results.
I have tried attaching the string in the URL:
getURL("webpage.asp?var=anything", "_blank)
This resulting URL seems to ignore everything from the "?" and on.
I have tried just using the web page link w/ both GET and POST methods and using request("var") and request.querystring("var"):
getURL("webpage.asp","_blank", "POST")
The result w/ POST is the web page comes up but launches the web page as if it were a text file, and GET doesn't even launch the web page at all.
Using loadVars or any of its counterparts does not seem to do anything at all...does not launch a web page w/ the results.
It's soooo simple to send a single variable from asp to Flash using the querystring ... why is it not the same going from Flash to asp??????
Please help!
Image Display Bug In Flash 9?
hello all,
i'm having a strange image display problem where i load an external image onto the stage, then at runtime if i put a sprite over part of that image, say a pulldown menu covers the image temporarily, after the sprite goes away the image repaints with a 2 or 3 pixel offset from the uncovered part of the image.
this happens regardless of any dpi adjustment in the image or the image format (.jpg, .png, .gif). this happens regardless of whether i load from an external file or from the library.
any clues?

Passing Value Into Flash From HTML
How do I pass a value into a flash movie as the flash movie starts up? I think I did this before, and I just put the parameter in the HTML stuff that calls flash somewhere - so apologies if the answer to this question is trivial - I just couldn't do it this time?
Passing Value From HTML To Flash
We are doing a site wherein the menu is in flash.The rest is all html.
There is link called 'Dealers'.
Now this link calls a different page as per the different products.
e.g. If i'm on the page 'Refrigrator' this link calls the Dealers of Refrigrators, and if i am on Office Conferencing page, this link calls the respective dealer's page.
We need to use only 1 flash swf carrying the links since the site is based on Content Management System.
Can anyone help me as to how to i pass a value/variable from html page to my flash carrying the links.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Passing Var From Flash To Html To Swf
Hi,
I've got a flash movie that opens up a html pop window, that works fine. Inside the popup window is a .swf, which needs a variable from the originating Flash movie. So when I open the popup I do this
Code:
address = "http://popupwindow.htm?link=url"
and I can see with the address bar in the popup, that, thats working all fine and the var is being sent to the html popup. the problem comes when I try to get that var into the .swf which is inside the popup, because the .swf is loaded in with some JS. In the JS i've got something like
Code:
document.write('<embed src="SendToAFriendPopupV1.swf?myURL=link"
but all that seems to do is make the myURL var = "link", not my original link var!
any ideas?
thanks

Passing A Value From Html To Flash
Hello there
I am trying to make this example work in flash 8 but it doesn't work:
Open a new Flash document.
Create a text field with variable name "text". (See above for steps)
Add an additional frame to the Flash movie so that it has at least two frames.
Save the document as "movie.fla" and publish your document (using the "Default" HTML template) to create the Flash movie ("movie.swf") and HTML page ("movie.html").
Open the "movie.html" file with a text editor such as SimpleText or Notepad.
Between the HEAD tags, insert this code. Be sure to copy it exactly:
<script language = "JavaScript"><!--
function PassFlash(){
window.document.movie.SetVariable("text", "hello");
}
//--></script>
In the EMBED tag, look for the HEIGHT and WIDTH parameters. Insert the following parameter (if it is not already in there):
NAME=movie
After this has been added, insert the follow code directly following this:
swLiveConnect=true
Just above the closing body tag ("</body>"), insert this code:
<a href="#" onClick="PassFlash()">Pass The Variable</a>
Save the document as "movie.html", replacing the old version of this file.
Open "movie.html" in a browser. To pass the variable to the movie, click the text "Pass the Variable". The value of "text" becomes "hello", and the text field will display this new value.
Does anybody know why? Well, the code above was the code I used from http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14253&sliceId=1#setvariable but my actual code is like this:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>movie</title>
<script type = "text/javascript"><!--
function PassFlash(){
alert("Popup 1");
window.document.movie.SetVariable("texto", "lala");
}
//-->
</script>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#ffffff">
<!--url's used in the movie-->
<!--text used in the movie-->
<!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet -->
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="550" height="400" name="movie"
swLiveConnect="true" id="movie" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="movie.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /><embed src="movie.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="550" height="400" name="movie" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
<a href="#" onClick="PassFlash()">Pass The Variable</a>
</body>
</html>
I can see the popup. However, the texto field doesn't display the change because of this function call window.document.movie.SetVariable("texto", "lala");
Does anyone have any suggestion to make it work? If things so apparently easy as this don't work at the first try.... I don't wanna think about next things.
By the way, I have attached the html, swf and fla files.
Thanks

Passing A Variable FROM Flash To ASP Using An Image
I have an image in my movie that needs to call an asp page like this...

Getting Flash Dropdown To Display Over HTML
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'd really appreciate anybody's input.
At http://www.echobloom.com/index2.php I've got a dropdown menu that, with all menu options fully extended is ~210 px tall (the main menu options themselves are only about 35 px tall). I'm trying to get the HTML elements in the page to display directly under the main menu options, as opposed to under the entire menu (which sort of defeats the purpose of the dropdown) - but I can't get my Flash to display ontop of the HTML.
Right now, there are essentially two elements - the Flash menu is in a div, which is at a z:index of 2. The HTML element is in a div with a z:index of 1, position:relative, and bottom:160px;. The HTML keeps appearing in front of the menu. Any helpful ideas?

Flash Object To Display Behind HTML
I have a Flash file which is width="999" height="289".
Below that I have 4 tabs with panels containing tab content.
The design requires that the 4 tabs should be placed on top of this Flash file.
So I tried giving the div which contains the tabs a negative margin of 30px.
{ margin= -30px }.
There are two issues -
1. Flash object does not display behind the tabs ( I have tried wmode=transparent and z-index = -1 )
2. In FF margin = -30px does not work / appear same as in IE
Could somebody help me out with this issue ?
Display HTML Webpage In Flash
I am a novice flash user but I would like to know if it is possible (or how difficult) to display a HTML pae inside a flash movie, so I could dynamically display this changing page inside a flash movie.
I am aware that there are ways to take in individual fields from dbase into text fields in flash but I was actually interested in displaying a web page whose structure could change a lot and thus info could not be stored in set db fields.
Is this asking too much of flash??
Thanks for any help,

Passing Flash Variables To HTML
Hi,
I have a question regarding passing Flash variables to HTML pages. I have looked on several resource sites but can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
Basically I have two flash movies in two separate HTML pages. The first page links to the second page and back to the first page via the Flash movies using getURL.
When the first page is reloaded, the first movie then plays from the start. I would like to pass variables from the second page to the first so that I can test for them at the start of the first movie and use gotoAndPlay to go the the relevant frame.
Is this possible with just the two HTML pages and Flash movies or would I need something server side such as PHP or ASP?
Thanks in anticipation,
Danny

Passing A Variable From Html Into Flash
Hi there I am new to flash (my excuse just in case this question is stupid) and I am using a number of different html pages to call up a single html page with a .swf file. I would like to pass a variable which is individual to the initial page into a text field on to the .swf and I wondered if that was possible.
All that is important for me is that the html page that calls up the flash file passes a variable (which has already been declared in one of the flash programs textfield)and it appears in that text field

Passing Variable From HTML To Flash
Hi
I realize there are a couple of other threads on this topic but after trying suggested solutions I still cannot get this to work correctly in IE and Netscape!
My setup is really simple:
three HTML pages, each with a different variable being sent to the same SWF file which (hopefully) will do different things.
At the moment I am using this method:
On page 1 <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="mymovie.swf?value1">
On page 2 <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="mymovie.swf?value2">
On page 3 <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="mymovie.swf?value2">
Then in the Flash movie:
s = unescape(_url);
location = s.substr(s.indexOf("?")+1, s.length);
Which retrieves the value given on each page.
This works great for IE but NOT for Netscape
If you have any suggestions I would be greatful.
BTW the site in question is:
http://www.globalbackpackers.com
(As you can see...All I am really interested in doing is changing the behavior of mymovie on the basis of the choice of three locations.
Thanks in advance
Passing A Variable From Flash To Html

I am trying to pass a variable from a flash (5) file to an html file and have it appear in the html file.
The variable is in the root timeline:
score = 80;
I am using the get url action:
getURL ("jump.html", "", "GET");
When I run it in the browser, it appears to be passing the variable, as the browser location field displays the following:
file:///C:/test/jump.html?score=80
Then in the html I'm using the following:
<p align="center">You've passed with a score of <script>document.write(score);</script> %.</font></p>
but in th browser, it just displays as:
You've passed the course with a score of undefined %.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
