Program To Change Swf's Into Fla's?
No I'm not going to try to rip people off. I need a program that can analyze swf's and spit back an fla file. My partner left for a honeymoon (computer is offsite) and uploaded a bunch of swf files and didn't upload any of the fla's because everything worked just right, right? Wrong. After 9 months of work it still doesn't work right. I NEED those FLA files. Anyone know of any reliable programs?

Change Movie Output With Key Press
I am looking for some help on swapping the movie output on a kep press

It is going to be used on a projector in a night club, therefore we need several "movies" and animations to swap between.

The ideal way would be to swap the movie being played by pressing a key from 1 to 0 across the keyboard.

I have created the movies I want to swap between (Text Message Display, Animated Ball, Animated Stars, Animated Cars, Etc) and I have created the main movie, which has an animated logo appearing at the top of the page which is imported into the library.

If anyone can understand what I am looking to do, then can you post an answer in my post?

What's The Program Being Used To Change Flash Enc Settings?
Hi

Im currently on part 4 of Lees Video Basics tutorials. At the very beginning he uses a program to change some flash encoding settings.

He also says that it's important to use the settings he's using or the scrubber wont work.

Anyway, I made my scrubber and tested the movie but the scrubber just sat there and didnt move. I'm assuming this is because I didn't change the encoding settings as per the tutorial....

If anyone could provide a link for the program (assuming I doneed it) that would great!

Flash MX2004 Pro > "Align" Locks Program Up
Flash MX2004 Pro Edition
Powerbook G4 (tons of ram)

When I have a symbol selected and ask it to align opt+cmd+2 or opt+cmd+5, sometimes (30% or so) I get the busy cursor. Then, it often quits the program.

Any ideas how to work around this alignment issue.

I have tried with the alignment panel open and shut. Seems not to affect this issue.

Dynamic Text Change In A .swf File From Another Program
I am very new to flash and so I have a few questions. First i will start with the programming problem.

PROBLEM: The task that i need to accomplish is to take a image .swf file with two dynamic text boxes and have another program be able to load this .swf file and alter the dynamic text and then save it off as a new .swf. Now heres the real problem is that typically i have found that people do this by having a .txt file associated with the .swf file. However, under the task i was assigned it must be done without the use of a text file. so basically take a .swf file change the text and save it off as a new .swf file all without the use of a text file. Now to do this i envision that i will need maybe a flash gui or some C++ gui for the user to put input text and that then the program will have to call the correct .swf file alter it and then save it off as a new .swf. I have not been able to find any examples on how to go about doing this or if it is even possible. Any help will be appreciated as i am new to flash and this seems like a challenge and not one for the faint of heart. So anyone loving a challenge heres a good one to try.

QUESTION: Is this possible or is this so far beyond the scope of flash that it isn't even funny? If it is not possible is there any suggestions on how a person might take images and do this using some other program?

Movieclip Ref Point: Change Between MX & MX2004
Hi,

in MX, when I was aligning a movieclip, and was using 'center' to align it with, it used the reference point of the movieclip (it's x=0, y=0 point) - the one it also uses when _x and _y are changed - symbol: white circle with cross in it.

now, in MX2004, in code nothing has changed, the 0,0 point is still what's important. However, overall, the movieclip also has a 'gravity' point, the center of the movieclip as far as content is concerned. This point is represented by a white circle, whereas the reference point is represented by a cross. Now when I align, it uses this new gravity point, rather than the reference point, which is driving me crazy, as my coordinates are different then what they are in action script.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this new point, or how to move it to be the same as the reference point?

Can't Change W/h Of Pop Up Window From Flash Mx2004
i got the pop up code to work. it pop up a fresh window centered with the correct url. what doesn't work is that no matter what i set the width and height to, it doesn't change. the window is centered and is so tall that it goes beyond my browser height. please advise as to how to change the width and height of the pop up window.

Can I Pass Log-in Parameters For A Webmail Program, Past CPanel Program?
Hey all.

I only have a working knowledge of actionscript, so sorry for any bad questions.

My personal website uses cPanel for configuration/management and a free webmail program called Horde. Both are great, but accessing them is a pain. I was wondering if there was some way (either through flash or javascript) to bypass the cPanel log-in screen and the horde log-in screen.

For example, currently when I open my webmail program (www.---.com/webmail), Internet Explorer automatically prompts an "enter username and password" box (same prompt for any ftp or secure access through explorer). This acts as an automatic input for cPanel.

If the input is correct, cPanel grants me access to the webmail log-in screen, and all the necessary log-in info (name and password) is already filled out, waiting for me to press enter/submit. If the input on the IE prompt is incorrect, I am taken to the cPanel log-in screen to correct my grave errors. Once I input and submit the correct info, I am again taken to an already-completed Horde log-in screen. In other words, I have to go past two log-in screens and press enter twice.

Note - The Horde webmail program is installed on the server, not my rented account. Therefore I cannot modify or, in general, access any program files. Everything is done through the cPanel program. Moreover, I cannot access the Horde-specific log-in page in any way, I must go through cPanel (or IE's prompt for the cPanel log-in info). However, the given address of the Horde log-in screen is http://www.---.com:2095/horde/index.php. But opening this url takes me to the cPanel/ie login.

I think that there is some way of passing parameters from input in a flash swf to a php/sql program. Can I automatically log into my webmail program, bypassing cPanel? Am I hopeless, worthless ), or is there some magic way to do what I want???

If anyone wants to help but needs more explanation or examples I will be more than glad to assist.

[F8] Can I Trace Output On The Stage Instead Of In The Output Window?
Hi - I'm trying to create a function that divides an inputted number by everything from 1 up to that number. (The aim is to create a .swf movie that will give you the factors of any number you put in.)

I can get the outputs in the output window that I want, but I need now to get them somewhere on the stage itself in a dynamic text box.

This is the script that gives me the correct outputs:
(I have a button named 'ok2' and the input textField is 'Input2')

Reading Xml Output Form Php Output
Is it possible to read xml output instead from a xml file?

The xml will be output from a xml file which generate from a database.

so if you do

var myxml:XML=new XML();
myxml.load("http://xxx.mm/product.xml");

But if i do
myxml.load("http://xxx.mm/product.php");
where the php will output the a xml data. will this work? Does it work the same??

Can someone point to the some code sample on how to do this?
I Search the web but can't find much answer on this one...

Output Window Not Displaying Output
Ok, this is a wierd one.

All of a sudden the output window is not displaying any of my output.For instance, i can have a simple movie, 1 frame, with the action:

trace("hi");

when I test it, the output window pops up, but nothing is in it.

Anyone ever seen this before?

Redirect Output Panel Output
Hello all:

Anyone know of a way to redirect errors thrown by Flash in the Output Panel to somewhere else (i.e. a text field). Reason being I am conversing with client and we cannot seem to pinpoint the error occuring, it works on my end but not theirs, and obviously they are running blind without any sort of errors being thrown. So if anyone knows of any other way to accomplish what I'm after that would be great.

A quickie:

At some point my Output window stopped displaying error messages. It still pops up, I assume if there's a problem. But it's blank and the scrollbar is disabled. Is there an option I missed somewhere?

How To Change Stacking Of Buttons (or How To Change Play To Pause Button)?
My problem is I want to have one button for play and pause music playing in Flash.

Music starts automaticaly, so Pause button is visible. When user presses Pause button, I want to show him Play button on the top of Pause button.

Shortly: Music is playing = visible Pause button
Music is paused = visible Play button

Button Change Color On Select, Then Change Back
I have 3 buttons, named but,but2,but3. What I want is if you click a button it changes color to show what page your on. But when you click a different button now that one is highlighted and the original one goes back to the original color. Here's the code.

Where Is My Output
I'm pretty new to Flash so I'm watching some video learning stuff on "Action Script".
i have "Flash MX 2004" on a Mac
my problem is that when i type a simple script like

trace ("test text");

then test movie, i get no output in the output palette.
i checked the syntax and every this seems fine but no output is being displayed. just a blank output palette. is there a setting or something that I'm missing?
Has anyone els had this problem or maybe my trace statement is wrong?

I am still a bit confused...

I need to find some software that will output to .flv (I assume). My whole objective is to create flash video files out of existing media (digital and analog, many formats) which can be served via streaming video in a flash browser/viewer that is being designed for me.

Will a program like Sorenson Squeeze for Flash MX run independantly of Flash to create these files, or will I need to purchase Flash itself. It seems as though "for Flash MX" would imply that this program is a plug-in....

I will not need to do any editing, etc., simply convert and upload. What do you guys recommend?

No Output For AS3
I've just installed CS3 on my laptop and I have run into some weird behavior. If I open an AS2 fla and type trace("This is a test"); in frame one and hit cntl-enter, I get the expected output in the window. If I open an AS3 fla and do the same thing, I get no output. I also get no errors or any indication of a problem -- the output window stays blank. WTF?

I should also mention that I am running Vista, and that the same software loaded on my desktop machine works just fine.

i have this problem with my output. I'm learning actionscript through this tutorial and it's showing that you can use trace to trace the value of a variable. For example:

var nQuantity:Number = 5;
if(nQuantity == 5) {
trace("Yes, the condition was met");
}

it's suppose to show the string, "Yes, the conditon was met" on the output panel. but it comes out empty on mines... why is that? anyone knows?

Hi guys. I have a pretty large scale flash file I'm using for credits in a movie I am creating--I'm utilizing flash-specific features, that can't really be duplicated in say... after effects or premiere. The only problem I'm having with it is when exporting to avi so I can import into Premiere, if the file gets any larger than 4 GB, it's riuns it and it will not play. If I cancel it before it gets that big, the file plays fine.

This is using uncompressed , because neither video 1 are providing me with the quality I need / give me random problems, like jumpy graphics.

I've read some info on something to do with window's AVI temp file has a 4gb limit or something on it, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions for how to get around this?

Hi,

This might be a bit difficult but I am hoping someone has already done this before. I am trying to output the contents of an XML file on the page but in a list type format. I can achieve this with images creating a new empty movie clip a number of times on a page and the results display under each other, similar to a datagrid.

Here is a breakdown:

My XML has 3 entered books, book 01, book 02, book 03. Each book has a thumbnail image, title, author and link.

When I run a loop to get the details of each node it works perfect for the thumbnail because of the create empty movie clip but how would I achive the same results but for text boxes because if I run the same loop for the text boxes I only get the last value.
