I am wanting to create a basic version of the Sydney Opera House's Virtual Tour. (see link below)

I am pretty good with Flash but unsure how to get the quicktime running....

Specifically I will have buttons on the floor plan that will load a quicktime panorama movie, preferably in a specified area within the frame, but a popup would be just as effective. This will be supplied on cd, if that makes a difference.

Can anyone direct me to a tutorial or sample fla. that shows how to create a Quicktime VR-like virtual tour in Flash 5? I've shot a bunch of landscapes and created the tours using Quicktime VR Authoring Studio. They work okay but it seems like it could be done pretty easily using actioscript. Or maybe not? Flash Virtual Tour
I've been using iPIX virtual tours, but I'm finally sick of them. They take forever to load, depend on an external plug-in and overall are just sluggish and restrictive.

What I want to do is create pure Flash virtual tours. Now, I got the iPIX camera that takes basically 2 super wide angle shots. Mirrorball I think is what it's called.

The two shots each provide a full 180 degrees from top to bottom side to side. Put them together, it's full 360, and not just panoramic.

I've seen some software out there that automatically creates this, but I'd rather do it myself so I can add iteractivity, animation, my logo, and other additves.

If anyone out there has any kind of help or has ever done something similar, please pleasde post here. Thanks all in advance.

Virtual Tour -- Flash Or HTML?
A potential client -- a public horticultural park -- wants me to create for them a "virtual tour" of a wildflower trail. It would involve creating a map of the trail which would have numbers along its length that link to small windows showing a photo and brief description of the plant. Also, a listing of all the plants would, when clicked upon, show the location of a particular plant on the map.

The thing is this: there could be as many as 300 plants -- meaning 300 windows. And this would all, ideally, be on a single web page.

So, should I try doing it in Flash or does it sound like HTML work (I can create basic Flash, but I'm a novice when it comes to heavy duty ActionScript)?

Quicktime Virtual Tour In Flash 8 - Help
Hi all,

Im new to Kirupa, this is my 1st post.

I currently have 2 quicktime files (.mov) - they are both virtual tours.

What i would like to do is import them into flash and then have a "loading" bar before they load.

However, when i do import the .mov file into flash, the quicktime movie is only a still image.

Questions:
1) Are virtual tours (.mov) compatible with flash ?
2) I have written a loading script, on the first frame in flash... What i would like to do now is import the .mov so that it will work as a virtual tour when exported as an SWF file, showing the "loading" clip before of course...

Is that possible? if so, what do i need to do?

I have about 200 images and need to make a virtual tour for a hospital. Does anyone have any ideas, examples, tutorials that they could give me? What I was thinking about doing was having a kind of map with labeled sections of the rooms, etc. and when you moused over them and clicked another window came up that played either a video or a simple image viewer.

3D Virtual Tour - HELP
Would anybody please, please, please have a simple script for the generation of a Virtual 3D tour.

I have a Panormaic image, which when looped and the ends tied together, will be seemless.

I worked with one script which masked the viewing area..something like this would be good.

I want the viewable are to scroll right or left when you roll the mouse past the centre respectively. (And some kind of speed element to scroll faster as you reach the furthest part of the screen etc).

If someone could please let me know how to do this and how to make it continuous? I would really, really appreciate it. Step by step solution would be absolutely great.

I am a animator initially, but my client has asked for this and, of course, I haven't said no to him!!!!! HELP!!

Has to be rather simple, I am sure. Can anyone point me to a tutorial on having photos make a video. As per say you are standing in a room and click camera while you rotate 360 degrees. I am very noob at flash so if need action script I hope very little hehe.

A client has requested that I create a virtual video tour for his web-site. I plan to use flash for this.

I need to know how create a virtual map/tour. Basically i will have a floor plan of a building. And users will click on an area they would like to view and an animated tour will of that area will open up. Problem is i would like the floor plan to stay intact and the tour to open in the same window/stage.

Am i right in assuming i create all my animations and then seperatley link them using the gotoandplay command using the floor areas as buttons?

My problem is how do i get all the seperate animations opening in the same frame with the original map intact and also how do i create a panoramic tour in flash and allow users to browse?

p.s i will be using flash mx 2004

Hi, im currently doing a major design project at school and im doing a virtual tour of the school using a number of photos taken in many places through-out the school and three arrows at the bottom of the screen for the user to navigate. Basically the tour starts at the entrance, when the user clicks the forward arrow the next photo is displayed (say 10m down the corridor) and if the left arrow is clicked the photo of the corrider or room to the left (if there is one) is displayed. Im planning on making this in Flash.

But the problem is that ive had experience doing little animations and using the interface in flash but i know pretty much nothing about coding in flash. I may not have described the tour i plan to make well enough but i was wondering how much coding will be needed to create this and also if theres any similar tutorials on this on the web (i cant seem to find any).

My other altnerative is to make it in something like powerpoint with a huge number of slides and linking each arrow to a new slide.

How can I use an invisible button to control a movie clip on a lower layer?

As in, if a user rolls thier mouse over a button I want the movie clip to move at a certain rate in the opposite direction.

270 Degree Virtual Tour.
Hi,

I'm creating a 270 degree virtual tour which means that the image needs to stop panning at certain point when I have scrolled left or right using the pan button at the bottom of the image.

I have tried many different ideas and posted questions on other forums too without much luck.

This is the code on my panning button and I have attached an example FLA if someone could please have a look at what I'm doing wrong.

[CS3] Image Pan Like Virtual Tour HELP

can anyone direct me to a tutorial or help me straight up,

I'm looking to do an image viewer that does the following:

* on MouseOut = scroll by itself and loop
* on MouseMove = image pan with the mouse
* on MouseDown = play a different movie clip (i got this working)

As I said, it's like going on a virtual tour that's controlled by a mouse but just horizontal movement and not 360.

So, I found actionscripts for all these actions individually but I can't make them work together (duh!)

anything helps, pls!

Fla Structure For A Virtual Tour
I am in the process of creating a virtual tour utilizing flash for a university. I have a few questions regarding file structure because I haven't worked on a project with the breadth of size/information in flash that this project requires.

The site is structured in this manner:
intro
main menu
guided tour self-guided tour

Under the guided tour there are a number of buildings which a tour guide (video) talks to the user about, as images come appear to illustrate what he is saying (there are 15 buildings/stops in this section)

The self-guided tour is an interactive map of the campus in which the user clicks on specific buildings which gives the user the oppertunity to explore various content (pictures, text and audio clips) on that location.

Alright, so on to the queston(s). I am obviously going to need to load content in a number of places since I am using video, sound and images. How should I structure this? Should I create a number of swf's that I load externally? Should I use attachMovie instead? (will that function in a similar way to loading a movie externally?) I assume I should use scenes to help organize information regardless of the way I go.

Ok heres my problem before i even have it

i am developing a website that is goin to contain a Virtual tour section, i have started to create the house in 3D Studio and am going to take into vecta 3d and then to flash
i will have a series of shots ......that should hopefully create an animation ...therefore due to file sizes etc this section of the site will not be indepth, what i want to know is does anyone out there have any source files to any similar projects .....i forsee the user being allowed to go:

forward
back
left
right
and also possibly up and down

i know there is already actionscript out there
but i do not know if there is any as specific as i want it
e.g
there are two paths
left and right ...the user can choose either path ...(Do youse understand? i am starting to loose myself)
anyway it is where the user has control and can choose direction not just simply left or right they have to kind of follow a path

can anyone out there help??????
would like to try and get the programming sorted ealry as i am sure i have tons of other problems that i may come across
all suggestions welcome

Could Someone Help Me Setup An Interactive Virtual Tour?
I'm trying to setup an interactive tour using flash. I have all the video edited and ready. It works like this: I have a menu at the beginning showing them an intersection at 2 hallways. They can choose either the left button or the right button. If they click the left it will show video playing from that spot, going down the left hallway. And if they click right, I moved the camera back to the same spot during production so it doesn't look choppy when they make their decision. There will be more menus and more choices as the go further into the tour. If anyone could find some time to help me with this. I posted my AOL name so you can contact me either way. Making A 3d Virtual Tour Of My School

What Does A Virtual Tour Cost To Develop?
I work for a small university in the States. We're trying to evaluate whether or not we're going to try to develop a virtual tour in-house or sub it out. So I'm looking for some basic ballpark estimates of what a virtual tour project would cost.

Hereâ€™s what weâ€™re looking for in a virtual tour:

1. Chapter based organization - The tour will be divided into six chapters with maybe four scenes within each chapter.

2. Relies heavily on video - The scenes themselves will be short 15-30 second video clips.

3. Template driven - Obviously the project will be delivered in Flash, but weâ€™d also like it to be template driven, perhaps XML so that we can update the contents without having to touch the actual flash.

I admire sites like the Vodafone Journey Web site for its use of video, and while weâ€™ll probably not be able to reach this level of quality this Web site best demonstrates where weâ€™d like to go:

So back to my original question. Whatâ€™s a ballpark estimate of what a virtual tour cost to develop?

If we do decide to sub it out we'll most likely write a formal RFP that will likely include one of two options.

RFP Options

1. Flash work only.
The university will do all of the art direction, content development. We will essentially hand off all of the content and storyboards for the flash developer to create.

2. Everything
The vendor will handle the art direction, content creation and flash development. We will provide artwork and content as needed but the vendor will be the driving force behind the project.

If you were considering a project like this, which of the two options would you prefer and what would you like to see outlined in a potential RFP?

Interactive Panorama/virtual Tour
Hi,

Don't know if anyone can help but here goes.

I have created a 360Â° flash panorama that moves round, but want to be able to link it to other panoramas for a complete virtual tour.

Basically, I want to define hotspots on the panorama that when clicked will zoom in on the image and then open a new panorama that will also have linked hotspots.

I am useless at actionscript and need to be helped to find my way!
