Best Resources For A New Flash/Flex Game Developer?
I'm currently a VB.NET/C# software developer and I'm looking to try my hand at making some games using Flash or Flex. It seems like Flex is the better option for programmers so I'll most likely go down that road... (using FlashDevelop?)

Flex Reconnect Flex To Debugger Flash Player
I upgraded my OS (OSX) and Flex seems to have lost its connection to the the Debugger version of my Flash Player. I don't see an easy way to re-establish the connection. I've already directed the OS to open all .swfs in the debugger version of the player.

[Flex] Creating A Flash SWF And Using It In My Flex Project?

I recently got the demo for txeff and i was messing around with it. Quite cool, id consider a purchase but over 100 notes for some text effects is a scandal in my own meaningless opinion.

Anyways it had me wondering about something else. For example lets take a new Flash CS3 file containg a dynamic textField instance called "tF".

Is it possible to embed the SWF into a Flex project and dynamically populate the textFields propery?

i have a flex file with methods inside and some as3 swf
The idea is to load the flex file in as3 swf, and when flex file is loaded, call a method from the flex file

Flash 8 Crashes On Startup
I just got flash 8 and when i start it up, it does 'Reading fonts' and then crashes with 'Program has caused an unknown error and will now be closed by Windows'.

I thought this may be caused by a corrupt font but I have used software to check my fonts and none are corrupt.

Dr Watson log reports Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Can anybody help me get Flash 8 working?

Flash CS3 Crashing At Startup
Man. I've never been so disappointed in a company relating to its technical support. First off, I just wrote a new post (few hours ago) about a Flash problem that it crashed during startup. I'm still having this problem. But the big issue now is that my post isn't even listed anymore in the forum? It was there when I posted it. Did you guys at Adobe decide to remove it for whatever reason?

To add to that, I've been on the phone with Adobe 3 times today. And as I write this I've been on hold for 67 minutes. I called the same line from another phone and it says their hours are up. So does this mean I'm holding on their support lines because I called prior to closing and they just left me on hold? Anyone else run into this issue?

Talk about disappointing. But now that I've spoken up about that, I'll leave my post here again in case someone can help me. And I'd sure prefer it if Adobe decided not to remove this post on me.

So anyone out there that can help me I would appreciate it. But the fact that three people from Adobe have not been able to help, it seems it might be a lost cause. I'm running Flash CS3 on a MacBook Pro. I was running it wonderfully for a bit over a month. Last week I clicked on the application to open it up and it crashed on me. I haven't been able to open the application since. I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and have gotten nowhere. I've even done a Clean Uninstall as recommended by Adobe and that didn't work either.

Right now I have a $700 application that I can't even load onto my computer anymore. Please help. And sorry for the words of frustration above.

Flash 9 Startup Problem
I am a CS2 user, considering upgrade to CS3. Weeks back I installed trial versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. All work fine. Now deciding to upgrade to the Professional addition, two days ago a downloaded and installed trial versions of Dreamweaver and Flash. The installation appeared to be normal. The problem is that neither of these 'new' programs will start. The hourglass cursor appears a couple of times. The application appears in the Processes list of Task Manager. But no flash screen and the applications never appears, even if I allow it five minutes.

Does anyone have an idea? Maybe you know of something that is causing a conflict? Thank you.

I need to pass flash a path variable to some of the content it will need to load on startup. But I don't want to write a text file just to have flash do a loadvariable command.

Is there some object that captures initial vars that were passed when the object initated in the web page?

Flash Quits At Startup Page
Man, I never seem to get a reply on here. So many posts after me and yet no help. I'm going to try again.

I am encountering a problem with Flash MX2004.

When I boot the software it boots until the start page shows. The start page shows for a couple of seconds and then Flash quits.

I have restarted the computer.. no luck. I have trashed the preferences... no luck. I have repaired permissions... no luck. I could not find any information regarding this issue. Any help appreciated.

I am running on an iMac, OS 10.3.9 with 1gig ram.

At first, I'm German, and I.m not good in English, so i try to tell you what I want.

Reading Data From An ASP File Into Flash On Startup
Hi.

I am currently trying to create a Flash program which displays the status of various systems connected to my main server. The status is kept in a database which I update manually, when required. Now, I have created an ASP file which queries the database for the most recent entry of each system and returns a set of variables in the GET request back to Flash. I know that the ASP file works however, since when I output the data to the resulting HTML, all the information is there and the query was successful. The problem I am having is that the Flash file which uses the following code does not load the variables from the ASP file.

How To Get Startup Flash Movie To Play Before Loading Website?
I have a simple movie that i would like to play for an opening screen. After the movie gets done i would like the regular html website to load. I'm new to all of this and i can't figure it out to save my life. The home page is index.htm. I used Flash Mx to make the movie. What would i have to do in order for that to happen?

Another thing...I don't know too much about html, but i have a flash movie on the html website. I did that by just pasting the movie's html code into the main html code of that web page. Is that the right way to do it or should it be done otherwise if you just want to have a flash movie playing in a page?

Hello everybody, I have a file flash that I just did and put it in the windows startup folder. When my computer starts the flash movie starts of course ... but I was wondering if there is a way to disable the startup of the flash move from the same swf file, some kind of actionscript or checkboxes so it automatically disable it or enable it again.

ColdFusion Developer New To Flash MX
Yes, I am new to this forum. I am a ColdFusion application developer. I was a designer several years ago and then went into programming. The last time I use Flash it was version 4. I need to learn how to leverage Flash for my front ends and UI on my applications FAST. I also want to learn about the new XML read and write features of Flash so I can develop Desktop versions of my Web Applications that can be synched with the online DB version. Please help! I do not know where to start. I went through the help and tutorials with my Flash MX and they didn't offer much in the way of what I am looking for.

I just wrote the Flash Designer Exam. It was good. Very tricky lots of trick questions. I am planning to write my Flash Developer exam and am curious to know how many questions are on it?

I heard that their are 300 questions to answer in 60 minutes. Is this true? their where only 68 question on the Designer Exam.

I Am A PHP/MySQL Developer Using Flash - Have ?'s
I have developed a component for Mambo Open Source (A content management system) that displays an arcade of 5 flash games. The games write to a mysql database, and the component displays all the high scores, etc. You can see it in action at www.pragmaticutopia.com.

My problem is that when someone uses the component who has installed the software to a subdirectory, the high scores script doesn't work because I have directed the flash game to post to my PHP script using a relative URL.

I need a way to have flash use a full URL, but since this software is somewhat distributed, I can't just enter in the full name of a site, because it has to work for everyone.

So is there a way to have flash detect where it is and save that as a variable or something like that? Any other way I can solve this problem?

Howdy.

Built myself a website over the last month or so
in html with a bit of flash for the images and so
forth... Was quite happy with it until I viewed it
on a Mac... And it looks terrible, not like on a
PC and it makes me MAD.....

So..... Ive decided the only way to control how it
looks is to build it entirely in Flash.....

Which I dont have time to do.... So, does anyone with
the skills to make a fast loading site want to have a
look at my html site, and let me know what it would
cost me to have them make me a new site in Flash
based on that design? (Ill email all current flash
files/images/text, etc)

The reason I went html in the first place is becasue
i absolutely hate to wait whilst anything loads.. So

Anyways back to the task at hand - I have been doing some websites and myspace accounts for sometime and I'm about to receive a major web job that i need a flash developer for.

Few things to know.

I only know Html, J.S., PHP, & Photoshop.

I know nothing about flash i have barely studied it but i do have Flash Cs3.

The Job

This old school very big R&B singer by the name of Chris Williams Needs his website. My company has already signed the job with him.

I need a flash developer to help design one of two styles.

1. www.t-mac.com (this style is more of a photo gallery style)

2. www.pdiddy.com (this style im not sure but it seems more flashy maybe easier)

Please review both flash jobs carefully and let me know which one you feel is easier. Once we get that far i will tell you which one he likes more.

1- Remember that the artwork will be different and i will supply any photos and or ideas needed. Then once that is done of course you can put your own style to things.

2 - I need 6 flash action buttons incorporated into the design. Kinda like T-Macs website. If we go Pdiddys route it would be the same style just with only 6 link buttons.

3 - Remember this price and job is only to design the flash portion of the site and to make sure everything works so i can attach it into my html coding through Dream weaver.

Well i would like to begin by saying that our company has recently acquired a major website contract for this big R&B Singer Chris Williams. I need a flash developer to design only the flash portion of the website in one of two styles.
