Flash :: [MX] Properties Window Won't Open Ever

Can't Open Properties Window
hi,

i was working in mx earlier and i think that i moved my properties window or closed it. in any case now i can't open it at all. i'll select it but it doesn't come up and i'll use the ctrl + f3 but that doesn't work either.

can anyone tell me how to get this back??

Open Pdf Files Causing IE Window To Open And Crash
On a macintosh OSX, when trying to open a pdf using:

getURL(./somePDF.pdf")

this command opens a pdf document correctly but also opens Internet Explorer. Sometimes this causes a problem because it crashes IE and forces it to quit.

Is there a way to open PDF documents using flash that doesn't open an IE browser window on mac OSX?

How Do I Make Them Open In The Browser Window Already Open?
I've managed to add links to my buttons, but they all open a new browser window... how do I make them open in the browser window already open?

I have produced a flash movie. the wholw are is an invisible button which
should close the animation and in father window open a link.

The flash movie pops up automatically when page is loaded. I used this:

Pass Data Into New Window With Open.window Function

You will notice that although you might have popups blocked the site still pops up. I have checked the source and they seem to use window.open.

Any ideas how thye have done this?

How do you stop the user changing the window size of the movie and right clicking to change the quality etc ??? Please help !!!

Properties Window
I tried searching for this, so as not to repeat a question, but the search feature keeps failing. Maybe server overload, I don't know.

What I do know is that I'm ready to throw Flash MX out the window because I can't get the Properties Palette to open up. Is there some sort of trick to this? Is it hidden somewhere? Is this a know issue? I can't imagine it's normal.

I've tried clicking on Windows, then Properties...

I've tried Ctrl+F3...

I've tried right clicking on my button, MC, etc. and clicking on Properties from there...

...but none of these open a window.

Any help, or clarification, is greatly appreciated. Please forgive me if this is obvious to you.

Properties Of New Window
After many attempts, I cannot figure out how to change the props of new windows.

- I know that to get a new window, you have to send 'window to '_blank'.

- I also know that to configure the window properties goes something like this in HTML'http://www.actionscript.org','MyWindow','toolbar=no,locat ion=no,directories=no,status=yes,menubar=no,scroll bars=yes,resizable=no,width=600,height=360')

However, how do I get the flash player to open a new window with properties like width, height, menubar, and so on.

Help me. I'm stumped.

I have a 700x300 flash banner. What I want to do is once it's clicked, open the page that it is linked to in the same window but full screen? I can do it with java script, how do I add it in MX?

Hi I need some help.

I'm trying to load a new html file that contains a movie but I like to specify to what frame to proceed in that movie I try to write this in actionscript I think it is easier to understand.

// I have 2 html files contact.html and home.html

// And I have one swf file named home.swf with 2 scenes named "home" and "contact"

// The home.html and the contact.html both contain the same home.swf movie

// currently I'm in home.html I like to getURL("../main/contact.html")
that loads the contact.html and the contact.html contains the home.swf but I like to proceed to the gotoAndStop("Scene",1) or gotoAndStop("contact",1)

Bitmap Properties Window
when I import a JPEG file into my document, this is
put into the library as a bitmap symbol, then I open the bitmap properties window, and i see the option:
Use imported JPEG data and a check box to enable,
but the option i want to see is:
Use document default quality.
how can i set this option if i dont see it at all.

Problem With Properties Window
I don't know what I did, but now whenever I do motion tweens it doesn't show the option for "Rotate" or anything on that level, so to speak. All it even shows is Frame and Frame label, checkbox for scale, the Ease option, and then the Sound/effect options. Does anyone know how I can get to where I can have objects rotate again? I've tried breaking apart as well as converting to graphic, etc. I can't seem to get it to work. If anyone can help me, thank you in advance. If not, thank you for taking the time to read this anyway.

browser window without having using an a href . Is'nt there something I could put in my plugin detect page that would open up a sized window and then close the detection window.

HTML Window Properties
Hi,

This is more related to HTML than Flash, but I know alot of you know HTML too.

I want to use GetURL to open a popup window that has no menus, scrollbars and is a specific size. I'd rather stay away from Javascript if possible.

I know the HTML window.resizeTo(x,y) command, I guess I am looking for what the options are to kill the scrollbars, menu etc.

Properties Window: Loop Help
Howdy,
I am working on a .fla that was created before I started working at my current job. I need to update this .fla. The weird thing is that the graphic symbols, that consist of one bitmap, has loop lengths of 6, 72, 80, etc. I want the graphics to play through and not loop, so I try changing the loop number to 1. Each time I try, it goes right back to the number it was previously.

Why can't I change the loop number in the "Properties Window" for the graphic symbol? Also what the hell does that "loop" option do with my graphic symbols? It plays straight through, without looping. It seems like that option has no effect.

I know this might be a dumb question, but I am tired of looking at it... and it is not too important... only annoying.

Window Component Properties
Hi, I'v inserted a Window Component to my movie and got it all to work perfectly. Now the problem I am having is that I want to insert another windows component but it will not let me change the Linkage Identifier...I can't even see the properties of the component. Every time I dbl-click on it, it says; "Create an instance of this SWF symbol and edit its properties using the Parameters panel...".

Can anyne help me? What I want is to have different window components in my movie that each get executed by the click of corresponding button.

as advised before i used this line :

BUT, in flash, the URL that has to be open as do the height and wdth are stored as variable... imageURL, imageWidth, imageHeight, since i have quite a few different pages that have to open and they change. how can i use the values of the variables in the javascript code??
is it possible at all?

This site has really nice window properties (cond. to the site owner). The .swf stays put, and when the user drags the window out to the right...you only see the rest of the .swf file.
Originally now my swf moves and resizes when i drag out the window.
Anyone know how to accomplish this?

Issue Using Window.open For A New Window...
this one is interesting...

i have a page called main.html which contains main.swf and the javascript function to open a new browser window... no problem there.

however, when I go to my frameset (index.html) which contains main.html.... and try go open a new window from the main.swf flash piece... i get a javascript error. what is going on with the frameset that is causing the open new window to fail?

try it out.

the only difference is that you first tried it from a frameset housing main.html

How To Make New Window Open In Same Window
anyone have any advice on this? I need to know how to make a new window openin the same window using Flash MX (Flash MX 2004 too, i have both)right now on my website, when you click to go to a new page, it opens in separate windows so by the end of your journey through my website there are like 5 or 6 different windows open. i don't want that. so, any suggestions would be super helpful. thanks a bunch!

I know it is possible with java-script, but how does it work in flash. I can't publish with the FS-Command because the script is used in a loaded movie into a main movie so I don't have an .html file!

I have created a button in Flash. I've assigned the "Get URL" action to it OnClick to open a new window which grabs an HTML page that has a QuickTime movie embedded. What I would like to happen is when the user clicks the button, the window that opens would be a specific size that is slightly larger than the QT movie. How do I do that?

Since I have got your attention, I have one more question—Dreamweaver related. Again, I have a button. I inserted a "rollover" button (from the tool pallette) into a layer. I've added the Behavior to open another window at a specific size. The problem is, the behavior options only allow this to happen OnMouseOver. I want it to happen OnClick. Do I need to acquire additonal Behaviors? Got any clues? I'd like to do this action without having to open the HTML and futz with the code but if I have to well...ok.

What the tutorial explained was how to create a window with scrollable text, also with close and minimize buttons. What the tutorial did not explain was how to open the window again if someone wanted to!!That's what I really need to know now. Please can someone help?

I created an introduction in flash and the rest of the page in html.
From the intro, there is this button. Clicking on it, it should open another window WITH FIXED WIDTH AND HEIGTH.
The problem is that I don't know where and how to set the size I want for the second window.

just a quick easy question im sure, i have a site and it has pop up HTML windows, these windows are sized and have no scroll bar and all the other stuff but........

when i try to open more than one it doesnt open a new window it just changes the HTML in the old pop up window thats already open, this looks really crappy as all the windows are at the right size

is there a way of gettting it to open more than one pop up window at a time.

The tutorial on opening new windows from a flash movie was helpful, but I got lost at the explaination of how to set the window's perameters (window size, toolbar, scroll bar, etc.). What is the exact javascript code you need to put on the html page where the flash movie is embedded? Will this work for all browsers? Is there a batter alternative?

Also, I need my flash movie buttons to open new windows that are different from eachother. Is this possible?

I need help with opening a new window. I want my buttons in flash to open a new browser window with a specified height and width that can't be resized. I've done it using html buttons using javascript. But I don't know how to do it with the buttons inside a flash movie. You can see what I'm talking about at http://www.round-tree.com. Go to the photos section and that's where I have the buttons to open a new window containing the pictures. I want another window like the one the main site is in. Can someone please help?

Does anyone happen to know how to be sure a parent window opens.. I have a movie that pop ups another movie... and that movie needs to get url... but it opens it in the browser where the movie(self) resides.
