[MX04] "Error Opening URL" During Preview On Flash (not Just Opening Swf).

When I preview a movie by pressing command+return (Mac) on a few particular .fla files, it gives me a "Error Opening URL" message.

Error opening URL "file:///Macintosh%20HD/Users/Fujiwara%5FTakumi/Web%5FProjectsr%5FM/Current%5FProject%5FFilesVash%5Fwebsite/version5/%5Ftemplates%20and%20stuff/flash%5Fbtns/flashbanner.swf"

The files are in the same folder, I didn't move them at all. It happened the very first time I created a preview/SWF file by hitting command+return and it kept doing that whenever I wanted to preview my file. So I had to go in and just open the SWF file itself each time I hit "command+return". Why does it do that? Is it because the path is way too long? Does Flash have issues with really long paths or is this a glitch? I'm trying to figure out why this happens because it ALSO happens on a separate project (that's 3-4 folders in depth) at certain points of the project.

I try to go back to the very first main page from a swf file that's 2 folders above it even though if I just open the main root file (index.swf or whatever), it opens a swf file that's a folder above it just fine (/anotherfolder/file.swf). That file has no issues going forward another folder (/anotherfolder/anotherfolder2/file.swf) It has no problems going backwards to the very first index page from that point on (../../index.swf). With that said, after going back 2-3 folders to open the index page. The index page can no longer go FORWARD again, for some odd reason, but the pathways are correct and they work perfectly fine if I started viewing the swf project from the very beginning and go forward from there.

Perhaps I should just copy and paste everything from the defective file and onto a new file, would that help? I'm trying to narrow what this problem may be to see if these two separate projects have any issues that are related in any way shape or form. This has been buggin' the hell out of me for the past 3 weeks!

Error Opening URL (Flash 5)
Hi,

I have a SWF file that loads into a target and within that SWF is a button that when you roll over loads a second SWF, when you roll out unloads the movie these actions also affect the alpha setting of a movie clip. Unfortunately, although everything works, when I test the movie I get this message: Error opening URL "file:///iMac/Work/Ambient/site/". The SWFs are in the same directory as the main movie.

here is the code for the button:
on (rollOver) {
setProperty (borderbox, _alpha, "0");
_root.display.pic.loadMovie("monkey.swf", "/pic");
}

on (rollOut) {
setProperty (borderbox, _alpha, "100");
_root.display.pic.unloadMovie("/pic")
}

Thanks.

With firefox have no problem, but IE gives me an error on the bottom bar without opening anything.
Here belowe the code wich is on the button:

on (release) {
//customize the window that gets opened
// 0 equals NO.
// 1 equals YES.
address = 'description_win.php?imagePath='+_root.imagePath+'&textValue='+_root.textValue;
target_winName = "Punto Net Service - Descrizione lavoro";
width = 520;
height = 470;
toolbar = 0;
location = 0;
directories = 0;
status = 0;
menubar = 0;
scrollbars = 1;

//sends data back to the function
openWinCentre(address, target_winName, width, height, toolbar, location, directories, status, menubar, scrollbars, resizable);

And the function wich opens the pop up

Movieclip.prototype.openWinCentre = function(url, winName, w, h, toolbar, location, directories, status, menubar, scrollbars, resizable) {
getURL("java-script:var myWin; if(!myWin || myWin.closed){myWin = window.open('"+url+"','"+winName+"','"+"width="+w+",height="+h+",toolbar="+toolbar+",location="+location+",directories="+directories+",status="+status+",menubar="+menubar+",scrollbars="+scrollbars+",resizable="+resizable+",top='+((screen.height/2)-("+h/2+"))+',left='+((screen.width/2)-("+w/2+"))+'"+"')}else{myWin.focus();};void(0);");
};

Any help??

Why Do Some Pdfs Do This Error When Opening From Flash?
Buttons that open up a pdf will sometimes get this error.

When you press the pdf button link, a blank page will open up and then Acrobat Reader will open up with a seperate window seperately and this error would pop up:
"Attempt to call a method that has not been implemented"

The pdfs that usually open do not have the Acrobat Application window opening and just the html page will open with the pdf inside.

This happens in Firefox but in Explorer the same pdf can be opened with no problems.

Flash Error Message When Opening A Document
Ive been working on a little video for a few days, including earlier today, and when i went in to open it an error message popped up.
Flash 6.0 r25 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
It also says To see wht data this error report contains, Click here. So i clicked there and this comes up
AppName: flash.exe AppVer: 6.0.25.0 ModName: flash.exe
ModVer: 6.0.25.0 Offset: 00602f50
along with Reporting details. at the botton it says To view technical information abotu the error report, click here.
To see our data collection policy on the web, click here.
on the error report one, it says The following Information about your provess will be reported and has a bunch of stuff. and on the botton it says The followign files will be included in this error report: C:DOCUME~1DanLOCALS~1Tempfc76_appcompat.txt

I was just wondering whats going on and if i will be able to get that back. I had tested the movie several times so there is a published version of it and it does work with no error messages. but i don't know how to convert the published version into something that can be edited, if that is even possible. Please Help!!!

Strange Error: Error Opening Url File (that Is No Longer Loading Into Movie)
I had a few external swf's loading into my main movie, and after several revisions I went through my directory and deleted the swf's that were no longer being used.
Now I am getting an error that one of them cannot open, (it is one of the deleted that I am no longer using)
I know where the code should be, because of the timing of when the error appears in the output window, but I cannot find
code anywhere telling this movie to load.

Any ideas about what I could have done and how to find it?

Here is the actual message:
Error opening URL "file:///P|/Web%20Projects/CBS/Natri/NATRI%202003/hosted.swf"

Error Handler LoadMovie (Error Opening URL "http:)
I'm loading several foto's which are stored in a database in a movieclip.
The foto's are in different sizes so I use a repositioning function when the foto is loaded

ActionScript Code:
onClipEvent (data) {
_parent.reposPic();
}

However if the foto linked in the database (which I don't have control of) is not found. (Error opening URL "http://www.mysite.nl/test.JPG")
onClipEvent(data) does not do anything.

Is there a way to handle the error message so I can load a 'file not found' image instead?

Cheers,

Leon

Error Opening Swf
This is a recurring, though probably very simple issue I have when publishing some flash files to swf. This is the error message:

Error opening URL "file:///matt%20hard%20disk/Users/admin/Desktop/Matts%20Current%20Websites/www.hammersmithconsultation.co.uk/data/base.swf"

as you can see the flash file is sitting 4 levels down in a folder. When published to the desktop it works fine. It seems that whenver the flash file is more than one level down in a folder, there is an error publishing the swf???

Is this some quirky OSX / MX thing?

Error Opening Url
I'm doing a tutorial from Flash MX 2004 actionscript where you input a choice then when it is submitted an asp file matches the choice with something from a db and returns some instructions based on the choice.

Problem is I keep getting an 'Error opening url' message and the asp file never gets started. I'm using IIS, the asp file is in the correct directory and I can open it through the server by itself.

I'm using the following code to call it from the flash file

function submitChoice() {
var choice:Number = radioGroup.selectedData;
poll.load(pollURL + "?choice=" + choice);
gotoAndStop("Waiting");
}

If the code is just like above, I get the error message. If I remove the choice attributes and use just poll.load(pollURL); I don't get an error but it doesn't seem to open the file either.

I don't know where else to check at this point. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Error Opening URL Help
I've created a simple point and click game using Flash 8 Pro, it uses PHP and MYSQL. The user registers and then logs in on the main screen. They can also save, I'm pretty sure the php code is fine.

The problem is - when i click my 'register' button on the main page i keep getting a 'Error opening URL' error. I get this immediatley, theres no pauses, it doesnt even get to thestage where it tries the mysql query I'd say, its just a basic thing going wrong, but i dont know what!

The error given is 'Error opening URL "file:///C|/Program%20Files/Apache%20Group/Apache2/htdocs/Register.php?RegName=<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="36" COLOR="#000000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">whatIenter</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT>&68" '

All that font/colour/align stuff in the error is just the font etc i had in the textbox I take in the users name with.

The code linking to register.php is behind that button, I've put all my files in the same folder as localhost is. This is probably a very basic obvious error (I hope), can someone please help me?

i followed the tutorial here http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/hi...14.php3?page=1when making it.

Hi all,

Out of the blue i've started getting the following error when I preview from within flash cs3 :

Code:
Error opening URL 'http://192.168.1.120:8000/rpc/newtune/0/'
Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://192.168.1.120:8000/rpc/newtune/0/
at Comms/sendReq()
at Comms/getNewTuneId()
at myxit_fla::MainTimeline/myxit_fla::frame1()
The url is correct and works without fail when I paste it into any browser. Also, if I load the same swf from within firefox 3 it works fine, yet the same code throws this error in flash and IE.

I dunno whats happening. It worked fine yesterday. Any google searches on this error simply tell me the URL is incorrect but this is definately not the case.

Cheers.

I've merged two FLA files by cutting and pasting the frames and actionscript from the second into the first, and am now getting an "Error opening URL" on testing the file. It works fine in the original. The code calls an xml file located in the same folder as the FLA.

When I test, my two dynamic text fields come up 'undefined'. When I test the original, they come up correctly populated (I don't get the error message there).

Attach Code

// Load the songs XML
var xml:XML = new XML();
xml.ignoreWhite = true;
xml.onLoad = function()
{
var nodes:Array = this.firstChild.childNodes;
for(var i=0;i<nodes.length;i++)
{
sa.push(new Song(nodes[i].attributes.url, nodes[i].attributes.artist, nodes[i].attributes.track, nodes[i].attributes.buylink));
// iterate through mp3 array, and add mp3s to the listbox
mp3List.addItem(nodes[i].attributes.track);
}
playSong();
// On load, stop the music
// stopIt();
}
xml.load("songs-06.xml");

XML file (songs-06.xml) contents:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<song url="http://mydomain.com/music/track.mp3" artist="Artist Name" track="Track Name" buylink="http://mydomain.com/store/index.php?cPath=21_29&sort=2a&action=buy_now&products_id=164" />

and a search box replaces the url and places it in the url as appropriate

now if someone types "hello" and submit, it looks for

"http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/blah/hello.jpg"

but if the image isnt in the folder it will come up as

Error opening URL "http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/blah/hello.jpg in the OUTPUT box

now is their any way at all to say in the actionscript (the image searched wasnt in our database please try again) i know its a default message flash comes up with but is their a quick way to use this default error to make an "error movieclip" visible?

Obviously the system gets to know, if after an:

mc.load(URL);

the file is loadable or not.

The Problem with 'onLoad' are sadly well known, and some workarounds were found ..., but what, if the file ist NOT loadable? There is no event-handler to be called, although the system generates a trace:

Is there a chance to get this information into AS ... ?

I am making my first flash contact form. When the user clicks the submit button it sends name, email, and comments to an asp pages that processes and stores them in a database.

My problem though is that the output box is telling me that there is an error opening URL.

Here is the code that is executed when the submit button is pressed:

Name = _root.Name;
Email = _root.Email;
Inputtext = _root.Inputtext;
loadVariablesNum("http://www.myURL.com/resume/receive.asp?Name="+Name+"&Email="+Email+"&Inputtext="+Inputtext, "0", "POST");

I know that the path is correct and that the asp page works properly. Any ideas?

Error Opening URL With LoadVars
I'm probably doing something really stupid and obvious, but have looked at my code again and again and can't figure out what it is.

Code:
imageinfo = new LoadVars();
imageinfo.load("http://localhost/scripts/header.php");
imageinfo.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {
trace("Variables loaded!");
createEmptyMovieClip('_root.test', 1);
createEmptyMovieClip('_root.test2', 2);
_root.test._x = 0;
_root.test2._x = 234;
_root.test.loadMovie(_root.imageinfo.col1image1);
_root.test2.loadMovie(_root.imageinfo.col2image1);
} else {
trace("Error loading variables");
}
};
stop();
When I visit http://localhost/scripts/header.php in my web browser, I get a page full of variables from a PHP script I wrote:

"total=18&per_column=4&col1image1=img/header/18.jpg&col2image1=img/header/17.jpg&col3image1=img/header/16.jpg..."

So I know the PHP script is working, I'm fairly sure I've formatted the variables properly and I think my code's correct. But no matter what, I get this in my output:

Error opening URL "http://localhost/scripts/header.php"
Error loading variables.

I tried taking out the loop from within the function, but I still got the "error opening url" message. I tried reducing my variables to be simply "var=test", but still got the same message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, so this is what I'm using

Code:
var xmlSubmit:XML = new XML();
xmlSubmit.parseXML("<SOAP-ENV:Envelope...");

var myLoginReply_xml:XML = new XML();
myLoginReply_xml.ignoreWhite = true;

myLoginReply_xml.onLoad = xmlOnLoadFunction;

xmlSubmit.sendAndLoad( "http://myurl.com/s", myLoginReply_xml );
Note: The string inside parseXML is shortened, and the URL used in the sendAndLoad is not the real one.

The above code results in the error, but, if I change

Code:
xmlSubmit.parseXML("<SOAP-ENV:Envelope...");
to

Code:
xmlSubmit.parseXML("");
it works. So I'm thinking it could be the way I'm encoding? Or the chartype? I don't have any experience with sending data and HTTP headers etc. so I'm not really sure.

Basically, what I want to do is mimic sending the XML document via a form in HTML. The following code is used to send an XML document via a HTML form; it then returns the proper XML data. This works. So I basically want to do the same thing in Flash.

Code:
<form action="http://myurl.com/s" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="form1">
<input name="FILE" size="30" type="file">
<input value="submit" type="submit">
</form>
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

[F8] Error Opening URL When Loading XML
Hi,
I'm trying to load some URLs from a XML file.
The .fla, .swf and .xml files are all located on my desktop.

My code for loading the XML is:

Code:
url = new Array();
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {
for (zx=0; zx<this.firstChild.childNodes.length; zx++) {
url[zx] = this.firstChild.childNodes[zx].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue;
}
}
}
xmlData = new XML();
xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
xmlData.load("urls.xml");
The error the outputs is:

Quote:

Error opening URL "file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Desktop/undefined"

My XML file name is urls.xml .

The file itself appears to be loading because 2 URLs show up, while 1 does not. I have a total of 3 URLs in the .xml file.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Xml.sendAndLoad - Error Opening URL
Hi all,

I am an ASP.Net programmer by trait but have been dabbling in AS lately. I have a book that gives a good example of building an XML Doc and sending it to an ASP.Net page for saving. It does so via a query string.

When running the follwing code(I have attached the full code) I get the dreaded "Error opening URL"
var URL = "http://localhost/drawing/";
// filename contains the user's name for the file
URL += "saveDrawing2.aspx?filename=";
URL += escape(fileFolder + saveSeperator + filename + fileExtension);

// shapesFile is the completed XML file
shapesFile.sendAndLoad(URL,resultXML);

If I run http://localhost/drawing/saveDrawing...PenPadDrawings in an IE window it comes back with the appropriate error message. Am I missing something with security in my files? I have these all loaded on the webserver in the same directory as my .aspx files.

Please let me know if any more info is required to debug. Any help is much appreciated!! Thanks.

Following is what the URL looks like from a trace.

http://localhost/drawing/saveDrawing...s%5Ckkss%2Eppx
