I have created a PHP Chat room but i made it where chatlog.php is in a iframe which sucks so it can update every 2 seconds but my question is how can i add chatlog.php to a flash document so i don't have to have it flicker when it refreshes? i hope you understand what i mean on this.

Hello there,
I'm developing a http://peopletshirts.com, and in this website we provide the service of printing a person's own image on their shirt. In order to make this process easier, I wanted to make a flash application (I guess it could be made the same way as a flash game)
What I need to be able to do is:
Allow people to upload their image
Make the image appear on a sample shirt
Allow people to change the colour of the shirt
Allow people to change the display of the shirt from "front" or "back"
And finally, allow people to save the finished product, as well as save the image they uploaded to my server.
^^I know that's a lot to ask for and would probably be hard to do. Also, I'm just starting out, so I don't really have enough money to pay a freelancer to make this for me.
What I'm wondering is, is there a tutorial that can guide me through the process? I'm not a complete idiot, and the tutorial doesn't have to be anything like what I described; just dealing with the same kind of work.
Yeah. I bet this will be hard, but I'm up for it if someone can be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

[MX04] Help With Flash Template
Recently the company that I work for decided to redesign our website using a template from templatemonster.com. The template that they purchased was created entirely in Flash. I have some experience using Flash but it has been a few years since I have really used it enough to consider myself full comfortable with it. So I was hoping somebody could shed some light on some questions that I have regarding customizing the template to our needs.
I have been able to make the graphical adjustments that I need to make, but the biggest issue that I am coming across right now is getting different parts of the movie linked together.
The site is broken up into four main sections (About Us, Services, Portfolio and Contacts). Currently there is a menu along the top which allows you to switch to each corresponding section without issue. What I cannot figure out how to do is have a button that links the About Us page to the Services page. It looks like it requires some kind of code and I cannot figure out what I need in order to accomplish this link. I have uploaded the template so that somebody could take a look at it and maybe give me the code that I am looking for. I would be greatly appreciative to anyone who can shed some light on how to resovle this issue. Thank you.

I have an external SWF that when you click on a "skip intro" it fades but on the start of the fade I just have a StopAllSounds();

im working on a sideNAV for a website, and i need some help. I have a way i want to do it that isnt working out for me..
when a button is clicked, if there are sub-categories i want the buttons underneath to slide down to reveal the submenu...and to slide back up when another button is clicked. but i have no idea where to start now because tweening didnt work for me.

I am trying to find a (hopefully freeware) flash slideshow where all I need is the swf file, an images.xml, a setup.xml (to set size, time, background color, etc. if not in the images.xml) and whatever else, like an object.js if needed.
Basically all I need is a simple fade in and fade out slideshow with no menus or buttons and can be customized to without the need for an fla file. One reason is my version of Flash MX just isn't working anymore for some reason and plus I just cannot figure out how to use it except for audio loops. Been trying for years on and off and just cannot figure that program out...laziness is involved too though.

I'm using the PHP function mkdir to create directories.
I'm using a variable as the directory to be created.
It works fine if I use a $_GET and type the variables in the address bar, and creates a folder with the name.
But if I use flash to output EXACTLY THE SAME VARIABLE, regardless of whether its $_GET or $_POST it makes a file instead of a folder. Why!?!?!?

Hi everyone, I have two swf's embeded in html without tables. It seems fine on pc but on large screen macs it places the two swf objects next to each other instead of on top of each other. Is there anything I can put in the CSS or HTML to make sure the swf's are fixed? Any help would be great!

I'm working on a project and I've hit a road block. I need your help!
I'm currently reading an XML file to display thumbnail images along with their buttons.
The thumbnails and buttons are duplicate movies and duplicate buttons.
I simply increment a number after the segment name.
When you click on one of these images it displays it in another movie in a much larger format.
Since these movies and buttons are duplications, the button script is written in the script timeline and not in the button. I'm using doRelease function() to declare the buttons however for some strange reason the "k" variable always equals the final increment (8 in this case) while it should be say 2 for thumbnail #2, 3 for thumbnail #3, etc...

Hi I just got a site to create for a dentist, but she needs a questionaire form that users can fill out and send to a specific e mail address (for her business).
I tried this by making a .php script and uploaded it to my server with the sites files....nothing happened....I then contacted my servers customer support and they told me they were unable to assist with 3rd party mailing scripts...Im not sure if that meant that they wont work or if they could work but they can help you figure it out....here is an excerp of that mail:

Flash Intro[MX04]

I am new at this whole flash thing... I should have learned how to do it a while ago and didn't. I am currently working on a site for my local Boy Scout Troop and I would like to put a promotional flash video on the site and have it run whenever someone goes to the site (that part I think I can do). I have been looking online and I have found a few flash videos that I have liked and would like to incorporate some of their ideas into my "promo". I have already created the video and it is saved as a .mov (I assume that is the wrong file type for a flash video).

First I am looking to have the Skip Intro button in the bottom right corner that can take me to a page (I saw on http://www.wyomingwebdesign.com/files/flash/rose.html when I downloaded it, the url was in a seperate text document, I would like to be able to do the same thing). I would also like to have a loading thing in the beginning where it tells me how many kb/kb is loaded so far (with a percent). Lastly, I want the flash video to transfer me to the same url as the skip into button would take me.
How do I do all of that?

I have created a music player which requires artist ID information to query a database and load songs.
However, I cannot get Flash to GET the variable for the artist ID passed through the URL.
How do I get www.someartist.com/artist.php?aid=1
the value of the variable 'aid' into flash so that I may use it?

[MX04] Expanding Flash Ad
Hi:
Can someone show me an example of how to make an expanding Flash ad? I can't seem to find what I'm looking for on Google.
I have to make a Flash banner that is exactly 700 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.
What my client would like to have happen is when they MouseOver the banner, it expands to maybe 400 pixels high and appears over the page content but doesn't push it down underneath the Flash banner.
The 700 pixels wide by 100 pixels high needs to fit into a predefined Flash area on another website. Which leads me to ask: do I also need CSS/Javascript to do this or can it all work through Flash?

I've been trying to read up on making a .exe file with flash, for the flash form i'm working on.
i haven't found an answer to my question though. Is there a way for a flash projector to output / save information to a user's computer?
example being, is there a way that a user could fill out the form with all their information, and then hit the submit button, and the exe file would know to save the user's information as a text file on their computer?

I have looked at this in IE 6, FireFox (version before 1.5), and NetScape 7.2, and it looks and works fine.
Are there problems with it displaying on a MAC? Or other browsers? I am stumped by this and don't know what the user was on when looking at the site.
Anyone have any input?

[MX04] Flash Buttons Animating On Its Own
I am trying to create some flash buttons for my site, but when I go to place several buttons on the stage, the first couple work normally, but the other buttons act like Im in the over state and animate. The only thing I can figure is that it is getting confused from the other buttons on the stage, and thinking they are being hovered over, but I don't have a clue about a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

if you look at www.matthewdesmond.com..and go into the page the side nav is huge, lengthwise, and leave s a lot of white space on my pages. Is there a way i can have it automatically resize to the size of the menu when a button is clicked and the submenu comes into view?

[MX04] Flash Player 9 And Powerpoint
Ok, here's the setup:
I'm playing a flash movie embedded in powerpoint. The movie is wraped in a media player bulit in Flash, and when you click the Exit button, it uses the command:

This triggers the Visual Basic code attached to the embeded Flash in the powerpoint as thus:

All this used to work perfectly! That is at least till I upgraded my Flash Player to version 9.0.16!!!! Now it won't pick up the exit button at all! This new player has broken the process (I'm assuming to address some security issue.)
Now obviously if I was just going to view this on my machine alone, I could revert back to an older flash player, but this is going to be deployed on the web, so I have no control over what the end user will have installed on their machine!
Has anyone else run into this new problem, or know of a work around???

I wanted to post a game i made to my myspace page, everything works fine except for the Button that is linked to my website, i tried a few of the different get url codes but none of them seem to work. The mouse rolls over them indicating a button, but i click it and nothing happens. in preview they work fine any advice?
