Publishing Html File Problems
Greetings,
I have used Flash 5 to design a small site and have used the publish feature to generate an HTML file. I've uploaded the HTML file to my host, but for some reason the page will not load. There are no problems with my server and my dns settings are pointing to them.My hosting company verifed everything is in working order. They said there is a problem with my HTML file and I can not figure out the problem.I have pasted my HTML file code below. If someone could take a look to see if they can find anything I need to change to make it work I would greatly appreciate it. If there is anything that I can do for you, please let me know.
Thank you,
Lorenzo Munoz,Jr

Publishing And The Resulting Html File
Why does the html file that is generated (when you Publish a movie) have a section in it for text you used in the movie? What purpose does this serve?
I figured out how it's getting in there (the default.html template), and I can remove it (take out the $MT string from the default.html template), but I am trying to figure out why it's even there in the first place. Same with the $MU, who cares what the movie URL is??
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Why Doesn't My Swf Show In The Middle Of My Html File When Publishing In Flash Cs3
I created a movie file in flash 8 and published the document with the html file publish settings for plugin detection and to center my movie in the middle of the html page which worked fine. But I am now using Flash cs3 and taking advantage of the new code for plug-in detection. I have put the same publish settings from 8 to cs3 but the document shows at the top left corner in Firefox and goes to the alternate page in IE to download the plugin. Can anyone help me out, is anyone experiencing the same problems?
Html Publishing?
Hi, everytime I publish a site in html format there is always a thin border around the whole page that matches the color of my movie background. I've tried messing with the publishing options but can't seem to get rid of that boarder. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks
Publishing Swf As Html?
I know there is no stupid questions in this section, but I sure feel that way asking this.
If I publish (for the web) a flash file as html, does the viewer need a flash player to view the page?
How do those site handle making a swf version and a html version?
I'm so lost.

Publishing In HTML
Hi:
Another question, which is a web site posted one of my Flash movies, but it doesn't come in a window as I specified in the publishing settings. In other words, it's not cropped to the stage dimensions, and you see all the crap falling off the screen you're not supposed to see. What am I doing wrong? Help me! Thanks for any help.

Secrets
HTML Publishing
why is it that some of the movie's html files that i'm publishing include the 'urls and text in this movie' and have all the information in there (good for a search engine crawl i guess) and some of them don't have any of the text in there? I have checked the fla files and the text is still in text boxes and not converted to anything... and doesn't look a whole lot different to ones that do include it. know what i mean, help?
Sorry about that mess, can't think of any other way to explain it.
Publishing HTML & SWF
I've been going through my Publishing settings checking them over and over.
Dimensions in HTML are Fit To Movie. (which I want) SWF file still acts as if its on percentage and grows and expands with Flash player.
HTML, although I've indicated to center/center. It still publishes upper left corner?
Is there a CSS I can put into the HTML doc to over ride the alignment problem? Any recommendations on the swf or html publishing.
Publishing... Do I NEED The Html?
hey guys,
if i'm placing a swf in my html document within a container div and css, do i need the html file published along with the swf?

HTML Publishing
Hello,
I have this issue...
When I use HTML publish from within Flash, it generates
AC_RunActiveContent.js along with SWF and HTML files,
and when opening a page in IE it doesn't alert me that
ActiveX content has been blocked.
However, I need to put alternative content into the page
in case users don't have Flash installed, so I turned to
SWFObject script (it's also written in JavaScript).
I managed to make SWFObject to work perfectly, except
this annoing thing that every time I run HTML page generated
with SWFObject generator, IE alerts me that ActiveX content
has been blocked.
Any way to overcome this issue?
Thanks
Publishing In Html And IE
Hi all,
I'm having a problem getting a flash site to work in IE. I have the html file published using Flash MX in the main directory and the .swf file it uses in a separate subfolder of that directory. In the html file, I edited the code
Code:
EMBED src="index.swf"
to
Code:
EMBED src="/subfolder/index.swf"
For some reason, the page won't load in IE, although it works when I use Firefox or Opera. I have a ton of swf files for the site so I want to keep them in their own folder. If anyone can tell me how to get it working, I would be extremely grateful.
Publishing In Html
Hello,
When I publish my flash movie the loaded swfs load fine. Also when I publish my movie in html en check it in a browser all works the way it should. When I put it online however the swf's don't load anymore. Is this a path-problem? Because I already changed everything to _root but that doesnt maken any difference either.
thx!

Publishing Issue...Html/Swf
Recently in a response from my site check post, I fellow member pointed out that my site was created in flash, but published as an Html file...
The reason is because when I publish as a .swf, my site is shrunken and out of focus, but when I publish as Html, it comes out perfect. Just how it looks like in the native flash environment, although...you guessed it, looking and performing like a html file.
What is wrong with my publishing settings...
I want to publish as a .swf but don't know how...
I quess it's just the rookie in me.
Try it out
http://www.omega-13.com/Version2.html
http://www.Omega-13.com/Version2.swf
Also why is it I often see websites with addresses like
http://www.flashkit.com/movies/
(With no extension on the end)
how do they do that
HTML Publishing Question
I'm using Flash MX if it makes any difference.
When looking at the "Publishing Setting", I see several things there, including "HTML" settings. I've also read that
"If you want to put your movies on the web, they should be embedded into HTML pages."
Is this the same thing or different stuff?
Also, we all know some people have resolution settings at 800 x 600 or one of the other various settings.
How can I make it so that my Flash Movie will fill up the entire browser, regardless of resolution?
Thanks,
Yestradamus

Margins In HTML Publishing
I am currently taking my first attempt at creating a site completely with flash.
The problem I am having is that when I publish to HTML, I get a small margin on the top and left hand side of the browser. I have tried every different combonation of settings in the publish settings dialog box and no different results.
Can anyone offer a solution to this problem?
Publishing Html Flash Etc...
ok, can someone clear up about what the advantages and disadvantages of using flash on the net, when you either link direct to a flash movie
ie. http://www.adomainname.com/aflashmovie.swf
compared to putting it into a html document with the url
http://www.adomainname.com/aflashmovie.html.
and what is the differance between using the html page generated by flash over adding a flash file through dreamweaver?
and why, and why? and why?...........
sorry getting carried away there,opps!!!,lol
Please note: no URL's were harmed in the making of this post, and only Stimulated opps I mean simulated URL's were used.
Publishing HTML Flash
I create a flash movie that pulls in other swf's. When I test the movie it works great with the "other movie" playing in a separate window and at the right window size.
However when I publish the html version... The extra SWF still plays in a separate window but no longer respects the size? (So a small flash movie will play on a full screen. This allows the viewer to see everything that is 'off-scene')
Publishing Problems In Html
Hi guys,
I am having problems publishing a Flash MX movie. When I publish choosing the “percent”from the “Dimensions” drop down in the “publish settings”, the flash movie works fine. But images comes with no scale, and it is a problem for me.
For that reason, I chose the “pixels” in the Dimensions drop down. The scale of the movie in the browser is now correct, but the bottom of the movie, part of which is a menu, is no longer working. The movie appears to be cut in 2 areas, one of which is blocked, and the other half is working correctly. When I used the “percent”, all the movie was working well.
What’s going wrong??? Thanks for help,
Text In Html When Publishing

Publishing Flash As HTML
I was just wondering if making flash websites is different from normal stand alone swf? I've made a nice little flash program that would also look good hosted on the internet somewhere but when exporting to html the buttons dont work and i can tell not all the actionsctipt is loading. What are the differences?
Publishing Problem -- Swf Vs Html
For some reason when I publish my swf and html file from flash, the swf file will work locally on my computer, but the html file does not function properly.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing the differences in functionality between the 2?
edit: To be more specific, when a certain hitTest happens, there is supposed to be a function call, but that function doesn't call. It calls fine in the swf, but not in the html file.

Trouble With HTML After Publishing
After publishing my Flash website into HTML nothing loads in the browser. I check the file and all the code seems to be there. I am using CS4. I'm new at this so maybe I'm missing something? Is there a special way to embed the .SWF into HTML or what? Basically, how do I get Flash movies into the web?
Publishing In HTML Question
I'm wondering how to publish an html page that has no menu and doesn't let you mess with the size of it. if that doesn't make since go to this website (http://kingpinhayes.com/bios.htm) and click on one of the links. Thanks for the help.
Publishing Flash/HTML With Different Options
I'm looking for pre-packaged HTML templates that can be specified as an output option within 'Publish Settings'.
For example, the ability to have a Flash index page only load once.
Save Html Settings When Publishing
Does anyone have a simple trick for saving html settings when publishing a movie from Flash?
For example, I am changing the <body> tag to <body topmargin="0" leftmargin="0"> so I can have full browser window viewing. So, every time I publish I have to view source in the browser and c/p the new body tag in save and refresh. This is time consuming and irritating--especially when doing browser checks to see how it's viewing.
I would LOVE to have a trick to fix this annoyance! Thanks.
Problem Publishing/posting Html
OK, newbie question/problem I think...
Exporting or publishing my movie to swf, I have no problem. I upload it to my webpage, click the link, and it plays no problem. When I publish it to HTML, it will play on my computer, but won't seem to play when I upload it. The "page loading" bar just sorts sits there after getting about half-way. Ordinarily, I might think this is b/c the webhost isn't flash friendly, but since it plays/hosts the swf, that's not the case (right?). Thinking it could be issues of file size perhaps, I reduced the frame size and the quality, but this seems to have no effect -- still just a lock up in the browser without ever loading. The file is only ~1MB in size; When surfing, I've seen a number of flash movies double that size or more published to HTML that load and play to my computer very quickly.
Any suggestions on what the problem might be?
Problems With Html Publishing And Buttons
Hi I've got a strange problem. My site is up - The Aviators - but as you can see the buttons don't work. Now when I view the main index animation (which loads the content .swfs into it) in the standalone flash player the buttons work fine - its only when viewed in a browser that they do not.
My main index source file and an .swf to load as content are here
I have no idea why it doesn't work and its driving me mad so if someone could take a look at it for me I'd be very grateful.
HTML Publishing Doesnt Work

Preserving Font For HTML Publishing
Sorta new to flash.
This is probably a really dumb question. In Flash MX 2004 Professional, how do i publish my movie for the web so that it doesn't mess up the fonts ?
Do i have to go back in and make every single lettering a graphic symbol ? because when i do that it makes it jump and it's a pain to get it back in place correctly for the movie to play as i want it.
Basically, how do i publish it so that the lettering looks the same on any computer once the movie plays online ?
please help!!!!

Publishing My Flash Movie Into HTML
Can someone please help me figure this out. I am using Flash 8 and Dreamweaver 4. I have my movie finished. It's basic motion tween fade ins and outs, and some music in the background.
My problem is this:
1. I don't want an IE browser on the users side to require them to install an ActiveX control. Like have to click the security bar at the top of their screen. I see MANY sites that just automatically play the flash content, and I just need help. <----newbie.
2. In Dreamweaver, I go to media>insert> and hit flash. I assume after publishing my movie that I want to insert the .swf file and not the .fla? Either way, when I do it, I see the icon in Dreamweaver, but as soon as I F12 to test, it doesn't do anything.
What I need is a step-by-step process. Do I insert a "plugin " instead? I am lost as hell. I knew it couldn't be that easy. Please help.
Custom Publishing HTML Templates
Hello All,
I'm trying to create my own publishing HTML templates, using flash 8 I had no problem putting these templates into the programfiles/adobe/flash8/en/firstrun/html folder and when I would run flash 8 they would show up in the list,
I am trying the same thing with Flash CS3 and when I put my template into the directories they do not show up in the list, am I missing a new step that was added in this release?
Two Questions About HTML Publishing And Buttons
I've made a home page with three buttons. The action to go to another page on release is below, minus the curlycues etc. because apparently there's a length limit to the forum posts?
getURL("tanskiphoto.html", "_self");
The links work in the .swr versions of the page, but not in the html version. Any suggestions? Also how can I move this site to a GoLive site to add regular non-Flash pages to the site?
HTML Publishing Question - Percent
Aloha All,
this is my first post here. I am pretty new with flash, I have been learning from all the knowledge the web has to offer. after fussing with this issue for a while I decided to seek help from the pro's .
my issue is when I publish my .fla file I have my html publish settings at 100% so my .swf file will take up 100% percent of the browser. yet on some screens where it does not take up 100% of the screen you can see what is going on off stage. is there a way to stop this?
I know there must be a way. any advice you can give or directions you can point me in are appreciated.
ps: the only work around I can think of is somehow masking the entire stage, is this the solution?
thanks

PUBLISHING FLASH IN HTML FORMAT
Hi,

Call An Swf File To Load Into Html Document From Seperate Swf File In HTML.
I am trying to get advise on the best way to do this or how to do this. I have a layout that the customer is happy with, in an HTML document, but the SWF files will be seperated because of the layout. If you go to this link, you will see what I mean. It all takes place inside of the black bar...
http://www.hairdrezzersonfire.com
I want the icon movie on the left to play first and after it is done, I want to be able to call the main SWF file to play in the center of the black area. After that's done, I want that main SWF file to call the text logo movie to play that comes in on the right side of the screen.
I assume that I will use a placeholder of some sort in an HTML cell and it will be replaced by the swf file, but I don't know how to call it with actionscript. Any ideas?
MovieClip Reference Not Working When Publishing To HTML
Hi,
I have a strange problem which is driving me nuts. In "_root" I have created a movieClip, which is used to display dynamic graphics as they are generated.
Most of my code is in classes that call eachother and do all sorts of stuff - some of these draw/renders graphics to the movieClip.
All classes contain a reference to the movieClip so that they have access to it and can draw to it.
When I publish/preview the swf in the preview window it runs perfectly. Everything loads and everything is displayed correct. The problem is when I publish to HTML nothing is showing at all!
The only way I can get my HTML version to show graphics is when I add/draw it directly from _root (fla. file). Doing the same from within a class using the reference to movieClip is not working.
So this is a huge problem. So basically:
(fla file)
movieClip
(class)
referenceToMovieClip
--------------------------------------
Publish to HTML
(class)
referenceToMovieClip.drawDynamicallyGeneratedShape
This isn't showing anything at all on screen when viewing in browser, but works great in preview.
I am out of ideas! - please help.

Keeping The Html Background White When Publishing
Hello,
I have a very simple banner that needs to route for others to see. When I publish it with the html file (that is how they get sent for viewing), the background of the html file becomes the same color as the background of the banner. How can I keep the background just plain white when I publish the swf?
thanks so much!

Publishing SWF File
Hi all, hopefully someone has the answer to my riddle...
I have recently completed a site for my office and we have it uploaded at the following url
www.salterarchitects.com
The site starts with a standard HTML page done in dreamweaver and clicking on the "salter Architects" button loads the SWF file in a new no-resizable window. The problem is the SWF file opens as a blank white window until the whole SWF file has been downloaded. There is a preloader to the SWF file but it doesn't seem to work properly i.e. the SWF file doesn't load while streaming, it waits till the whole file is loaded before playing the preloader.
What's goin' on ?
Publishing A GIF File

Help Publishing Swf File

How To Align Swf Center After Publishing To HTML With Flash Detection
Hey there... I just finished a site of mine using Flash 8 and published to HTML so that I could embed some flash detection too. Everything seems to work fine, except that the site is aligned left now instead of center. The object itself obviously isn't embedded in the HTML page, but called up with Javascript, which has parameters that should set things like width, height and alignment, but these don't seem to make a difference at all. Here are my javascript settings for embedding the swf in the HTML page as they are now:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
var hasRightVersion = DetectFlashVer(requiredMajorVersion, requiredMinorVersion, requiredRevision);
if(hasRightVersion) { // if we've detected an acceptable version
// embed the flash movie
AC_FL_RunContent(
'codebase', 'http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,24,0',
'width', '957',
'height', '772',
'src', 'site2',
'quality', 'high',
'pluginspage', 'http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer',
'align', 'middle',
'play', 'true',
'loop', 'true',
'scale', 'showall',
'wmode', 'transparent',
'devicefont', 'false',
'id', 'Paper Jet Wednesday',
'bgcolor', '#333333',
'name', 'Paper Jet Wednesday',
'menu', 'true',
'allowScriptAccess','sameDomain',
'allowFullScreen','false',
'movie', 'site2',
'salign', 't'
); //end AC code
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the alignment settings are set to middle or center, so I don't really understand why it still aligns left. You can check out it out at http://www.paperjetwednesday.com/demo/pjw/site2.html
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.
