Photo Slideshow With XML - Image Gap On First Cylce Through Slideshow
Hello,

I am new to this site, and I went through the tutorial on this site, "Photo slideshow using XMl and Flash, " http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20..._slideshow.htm
but I encountered a problem where my images lag the first time they cycle through all the images in the XML file.

The first time the flash page loads and starts the slideshow, I don't want the gap between the transitioning of the images where the movie backgound shows. I think it has something to do with the images loading for the first time, so I tried to load each picture in a different movieclip with an alpha of 0 before the slideshows starts, but it didn't work and there is still the gap between the images the first time the pictures cycle through the slide show.

Please offer any advice on how to stop the image lag the first time the slideshow cycle through all the images in the XML file.

I'm trying to make a slideShow that scrolls horizontally(the direction and speed would be vary depending on the mouse position)
The mouse controls for the slideshow work; and I'm able to control speed and direction of the MC. My problem is making the slideshow loop seamlessly... Instead of letting it scroll right off the stage, in either direction. I need the portion of the MC that is off stage at any giving time, to start again at the other end.
I thought of building a motion tween that would contain the complete animation, and then controlling the speed and direction by adjusting the "_currentFrame" of MC. But I'm convinced there's a better way to achieve the effect I'm looking for... I just don't know what it is!!

Any ideas?

How do I make a slideshow of pictures. I have a bunch of pictures in which I want to create a slideshow. The slideshow will have pictures show up and then disappear taking up the entire size of the movie.

When going through this tutorial on how to make a slideshow, http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Dy...77/index.shtml , I found an error that I'd like to get help to fix.

You can see the error by first pressing the 'carshow' button, then the 'next' button so that 'car 1' is displayed, press the 'next' button again to see car nr 2. Then press the 'back' button, then you're at car nr. 1. Now here comes the error, when you press the next button again, you jump from 'car 1' to 'car 3'. Skipping the car in the middle.

So if anybody can see how this could be corrected, please respond.

Hey all, I've created a slide show and just need to know how I can pause the show on each main frame. Going in to add extra frames just isn't ideal. I need each main frame to pause for ~4 seconds before continuing on in the movie. Any suggestions?

Hi I'm making a slideshow and already found a tutorial but I have a some probs.
Prob1 -> I would like when I click on the picture that it makes a new window with a picture in it of course the slides aren't the same my pics are called slide_1.jpg to slide_5.jpg.
Prob 2 -> when I start the slide the first slide doesn't want to open :/ I have to click next.
Prob 3 -> When I press next it's loads the next pic, and if I press previous then the previous pic but when I press now on next again it loads not the picture after the previous one but the picture after when I pressed next for the first time :/.

example
Next -> Slide_2.jpg
Previous -> Slide_1.jpg
Again Next -> Slide_3.jpg and this has to be 2 :/.

I have been trying to incorporate an XML slideshow into a site I am working on, like the one on Macromedia's site at here

I can get everything working except for the pictures themselves. When I try to use other pictures they won't show up in my movie, but if I use the pictures from the macromedia example, the function works just fine.

I've even tried changing the resolution in my pics to match the Macromedie examples and it still doesn't work. Is there something else I need to do to prep my JPEGS in order for them to work in this application?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, I'm creating a four page website and I thought of putting those four pages in a sequential order state so It would be like a slideshow. Is there a way to tell a button to go to the next page in slideshow form. Thank you for the help mate.

Slideshow Can't Go NEXT (XML)
I'm really new to XML, and I need to create a photo gallery. I found this cool one in the movies section and have modified it to my requirements.

I am able to escape from 'slideshow' mode to 'manual' mode, but in manual mode, I don't know how to go to the next photograph.

Can anyone take a look at the attached zip and help me please? It's not a complicated thing I think...

I need to produce a "movie" of sorts. Basically, it's a slideshow of jpg images, but I wnat the images to appear seamlessly. What I mean, is I don't want a fade or anthing between the images. The images are of timed snapshots of weather maps.

I don't want anyone to write the code for me, I'm just looking for the best course of action to begin this. I'm relatively new to flash, and just need to know what the general technique (.as Syntax) I should look into using.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a tutorial or a book that will help create a 3d slideshow. very similar to a 3d scrolling menu buttons but instead of the menu using pictures. that way the pictures rotate on their own and stop when the mouse moves overthem and when clicked they goto the respected pages. just image thumbnails rotating in a circle automatically and that is what i want. thanks in advance

I have built a slideshow of my portfolio. It uses two arrows, one that goes forward and one that goes backwards through the portfolio. The problem occurs when you click continuously too fast on the arrows. The image that loads loops repeatedly. I have put a sample of my code below. Basically, when the arrow is clicked it passes a number through a variable to a function, the functions then loads the image and text. Can some one help.

Hi. I'm trying to get the flowing movie to work. I want to create a simple slideshow with pictures that the user can define by clicking on certain ones. In the attached file I'm simply trying to get the slideshow working because I'm pretty sure i can always add more pics.

All you have to do is click on the two images and then the black circle. I want the slideshow to start once you've hit the circle. The slideshow would have a simple fade in and fade out with each pic.

If someone could point out my problem thatd be great.

I have a sort of a slideshow that is an applet and am wondering how I can get the same effect with flash.
I tried doing it with tweening and it works but I get a blank point when it goes back to the first frame of the movie and I dont want that..

can anyone help me?

i am trying to start a web site with a slideshow of 4 pictures.
i made the pictures all MCs but i am having difficulty figuring out some script which will make pic#1 fade out while pic#2 fades in and so forth. once pic#4 is done it will return to pic#1.

there is no interaction...the slideshow will just continuously run.

i was going to use timeline tweening, but i want to cut down on size.

does anyone have any script for this type of simple slideshow??

What Im trying to create is a slide show when you click on the thumbnails a larger view appears.

the small images move inside mc
then when your over it slows down instead of that scrollbar

Does anyone know how I could add a fade transition effect to this and an autoadvance button that cycles through the slides in 4second intervals...? I have some basic experience in flash but when it comes to higher action script it easily frustrates me

I tried so many different things but I just can´t figure out how to make flash wait for 4 seconds and my transition effect looks weird because the image pops up for a moment and then starts fading in.#

Ok. I want to use a loader or any other method possible to create a picture slideshow. But I just want to specify the folder name and it will automatically load the pictures one after the other. But to do this I have to enter the exact name for each picture. Can flash do this for me so that I can choose any folder and use the pictures from it? Any ideas?

I'm trying to use actionscript to fade in JPEGs on the click of a button... I know my code is wrong, but I can't put it right by trial and error. I want the user to click a thumbnail image (button) which loads a JPEG into a movie clip in the same keyframe and I would like the image to fade in:

Hey..

i'm doing a slide show containing 6 images... to make it easier to explain lets pretend it's only 3 images

image 1: animates from frame 1 to 10
image 2: animates from frame 11 to 20
image 3: animates from frame 21 to 30

on frame 1 i say var whatFrame = 11;
on frame 11 i say var whatFrame = 21;
on frame 21 i say var whatFrame = 1;

and the 'next' buttons action is

on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(whatFrame);
}

that works perfect... my problem is with the 'back' button...

if whatFrame = 21 then obviously we are somewhere between frame 11 and frame 21 and if back is clicked between those frames you should come to frame 1... and if back is clicked when whatFrame = 1 then you should come to frame 21...

How do you suggest that i code the 'back' button?
since the whatFrame is always ahead i suppose i have to do something like:

on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(whatFrame-20);
}

Hi all,

I want to add a thumb nail slide show to my frames gallery. i want to have it scroll on it's own anwhen you clik on one of the picks it opens the picture. I also want to add a preloader for each time it opens a picture (like closing and opening of doors) . Can someone help me with this? I want the thumb nails to be in the same box as the picture counter and just to show two picturs at a time.

Hi, i am having trouble figuring out how to make a slideshow out of 36 different flash movies. The swf's have pictures in each one that fades in at the beginning. How do i somehow load each swf into my origional movie with thumbnails? i want to have a slideshow on/off button to trigger this action. im trying to make a slide show with advance buttons and not buttons named 1,2,3 etc. i want one button to slide forward and another to slide backwards. the sliding of the pics have motion tween so each sliding is going from keyframe to keyframe. what actions must i use on the buttons? when playing it right it works but when i want to go backwards im having problems. prevframe action wont work cause it understands only frames, well if there was a prevKEYframe action then things would suite me best? is there sutch an action or must i go round this and how???

i'm working on that real nice slideshow from Abrahamyan. i would like to modify things a little but as i'm a loser when it comes to AS i have to ask you people. what i would like to have for the moment is:
i want it to stay at a certain coordinates of the movie but the scaling effect should remain. so when the pictures change the 'window' should stay where it is but expand to the right and down. i hope i made it clear. thanks for any help,

working on that real nice slideshow from Armen Abrahamyan. i need to have some modifications but when it comes to AS i'm a loser and i have to ask you people. well, what i want in specific is that the window showing the jpgs should stay on a certain point of the stage for every image but scale to the right and downwards. at the moment, the window moves all over the stage depending on the length and witdh of the pictures to show. hope i made it clear...would be great if someone had a solution or could give me a hint. noodle

I was wondering if anyone knew of a component that would do something silimar to this one:

The problem I have with the above one is it keeps dropping down a loading bar each time a pic loads, which I don't want. I've tried to remove it, but I can't seem to find where it's calling it. I've managed to remove all the other stuff I don't need from it.

I just need something where I can load X pics and have a choice of transistions between them. Nothing else fancy like back/fwd and all that jazz.

I think it might have something to do with the module preloader set up on the main timeline, this basically creates empty movieclips to load the external movies into.

Any help would be appreciated, I can supply the actionscript or even the .fla files if required.

Can someone help me with this slide show? The problem I'm having is the slideshow is stopping at the 12th image it is suppose to play as many images as you want as long as you tell it how many.

I have 35 images, I set the count to 35 and the actual jpeg's are labeled img000.jpg to img034.jpg. The show is working accept that it stops at img011.jpg (the 12th image).

I was told I should be able to set as many as I want but it doesn't appear to be working out that way. I really need to be able to display many images.

Hi,

I've had a few requests for the slideshow demo in my signature. Of the links there, I thought this would attract the least attention as it is the generic slideshow demo that comes with Flash MX. I ripped the guts out of it and upgraded the code so that it loads all images externally and uses setInterval to control the autoplay function. This was just something I was playing with and could probably be optimized further. I turned the whole thing into a single movieclip for ease of use in other projects. All code resides on the first frame inside the movieclip. Change the image names in the array to your own images. Currently, the images need to reside in the same folder as the flash movie, but this could easily be adapted to draw the images from a folder by supplying a file path variable. Anyway, here is the source file...

Enjoy ..... if you upgrade it further, post the results for all to benefit from

How can I make these adjustments:

the slides always fade in after the preloader. I would like a preloader for the first picture but then have the picture show until the nxt image has loaded instead of showing a preloader inbetween.
It would also be nice if the images could then blend over instead of just having the nxt image fade in.

Can anyone help me out??

I want the user to choose a particular image thumbnail in SCENE 1 passing a variable into the hard coded value for 'mypic' in SCENE 2. Therefore the slideshow will play from desired starting point rather than the beginning.

Am I approaching this in the correct way? Would two movies and LocalConnection be better? I thought retrieving a value from one scene and assigning it to another variable in another scene would be easy?

I have a problem I don't understand, I have published my movie, the Swf file works perfectly, but when I try the index.html file, the xml slideshow doesn't work.

Anybody know what the problem might be?

el cliente me pide un menu como esta en el ejemplo
pero dice que quiere que cada vez que se hace un mouseover sobre la imagen se detenga para que no "maree"
no se si es posible que se detenga la imagen precisamente porque la idea es que no pare (es decir se detiene en un eje central, pero no en cada imagen)...pero a lo mejor se puede hacer que cada imagen tenga un eje o area donde se detenga
