How To Have Frames In Flash (frames That Are Like HTML Frames)?

Does anyone know how i can have frames (frames that are like html frames) in my movie?
Like say:
I want movie 1 to load into frame 1 of my main movie.
Movie 2 to load into frame 2 of my main movie.

Okay, so I've been trying to figure this out for a while, with no luck.

I'm working on a web page that is a combinatoin of html and flash .. the main page has 2 frames, a top and a bottom frame. What I want to do is make a thing in flash .. kind of like a counsole that sits in the bottom frame, and when you click buttons on it it loads the respective page into the top frame .. I'm sure there a way to do this, I just can't figure it out.

I am trying to make a link in my flash movie to another frame in HTML. Here is what the normal link in html would look like. I am using flash movies for my header frame and my navagation frame. Does anyone have any ideas?

HTML Frames
I'm getting an error using a Flash movie as my main menu. Here's what I do to make this error occur:
at the site http://www.wcsu.edu/zbt
Click Active Brothers, then click a brothers name, then click back, then click Active Brothers again. Notice how it opens a new window for active brothers when it didnt before.
I thought it may have to do with accessing pages on different domains or a combination of that and using flash as the main menu. Has this happened to anyone before?

Hello,
I know its possible to use a flash button in one frame to change another frame. I have 3 frames: a top frame named "top" which is the navigation, 2a frame named "middle" and a frame named "bottom".
Is it possible to change middle and bottom at the same time using the top navigation in the top frame?

ok my site is made of 3 frames, top frame in flash, side frame (buttons) in flash and main frame in html.
now i want to target the main frame from the buttons in the flash movie in the left frame, but just cant figure it out.

hi,

i have a html page with 2 frames. in the top frame i have a flash created menu list which i want to load the appropriate flash page in the bottom frame when the menu item is selected. I only want the bottom frame to reload each time a new item is selected.

in effect, i want to script the buttons in flash to "talk" to the frames in html. is this possible?
just wondering if anyone knows of any links or tutorials telling how to do this.

I am designing a website and want to use frames having the top as a flash movie (TOPFRAME) and the lower as HTML pages (MAINFRAME) i have buttons on the flash movie that needs to open pages in main frame.... Ive tried for ages and cant get it to work (with getURL command)

Hi all, I'm a virgin in these forums (first time here).

Here's the problem - I have created a website that uses frames, a navigational frame of 100 pixels width on the left and a main frame set to relative on the right, pretty straight forward so far.
Now I have created a navigational flash menu (in Flash 5), with buttons to be placed in the left navigational frame of my site, but for the life of me I cannot get the buttons to open the content in the main frame of the site when clicked.

I have used the basic actions - on press and goto url, but where it asks for the window I put _main, but it never opens in that frame on the site. I have also tried _parent (opens in a new window) _self (opens in own frame) _top (opens in own frame again), even renamed the frame in the site from _main to _rightFrame, still did'nt work.

Anyone have any suggestions, I am tearing my hair out here?

my problem is next. i'm a amateur internet site builder and my problem is next.. when i made my index page and press there the entrance button you will see a frame but it's a link 2 a html. How can i change that so i only open my .swf movie I tried a lot of things but the right actionscript is missing. Can somebody help me?

ok here is the situation!!!

using frontpage 2000 i made a page that contained two frames, a top(header)frame and bottom (main) frame.

in the header frame i placed an html page that have a flash movie in it. in the flash movie, i have buttons that contains actions to "get url's".

my problem is i don't know how to write the actionscript on the buttons so that the "url's" that they're suppose to get shows up in the bottom (main) frame.****when i say frame i'm not talking about frames in FLASH.****

maybe a stupid question, 'cause I've seen it many times, but I can't seem to figure out how it works:

I have a homepage with html frames and in one frame a navigation bar is placed and in another frame the main movie is placed. This main movie loads other movies in a movieclip using LoadMovie.

Now I want the movie in the navbar to control which movie the main movie (in the other frame) loads and to which frame the main movie goes. How on earth do I do this?

Hey is it possible to have a flash movie in one html frame communicate with a flash movie in another html frame? Like is it possible to have a botton in html frame that when you hover over it, it loads a certain level in another movie that is in a different html frame. I dont want the entire html frame to get reloaded, i just want to load a new movie onto a different level of a movie that is already running (but do this from a different html frame).
I hope this makes sence. Anyways, if anyone has any clue about this maybe you could fill me in or show a quick code on how to do it...

Communicating Between Two (html)frames
Could someone please post the code for a website, concisting of two frames. There is a Flash movie in each frame, and one of the movies is a menu.

If one of the buttons in the menu is clicked, the other movie has to jump to a certain point in the time-line of that movie.

Does someone know exactly how to do that through actionscripting?

Thought I´d post my ´problem´ here, since the solution should be simple ( I think ). What if I wanted to create a Flash File in Frame A, and link some buttons within this SWF to information that should be displayed in Frame B. What is the right GetUrl Command, since it does not seem to understand the lines I enter in the target section. (´_mainframe´, mainframe)

And while I´m at it, can you also make a link from a SWF button, to open a new browser window, with a spesific size ?

Ok say I have a flash animation in an (frame name=top) HTML frame, and in that flash animation there's a series of button that call for an html page.

The only problem is that I need that HTML page to load into an HTML frame that is different (frame name=bottom) than the frame that contains the FLash animation.

I tried typing a "target = bottom" in the instance properties, but it doesn't work!

I have a basic website with three frames. The top frame is horizontal and has a banner. This is just a Flash movie. The second frame has a Flash menu that should control the sites in Frame 3.

So with the menu in frame 2 I should be able to call up html sites in frame 3. How should I program the the menu buttons in frame 2.

But my website doesn't, It unloads the webpage with a search box. But I will change the url to the index page as the first website. It's first button shows the webpage. And with their webpage at http://www.bonus4u.da.ru first window is clicked then the second button shows, or layer.

I know how to use frames, and their website at http://www.bonus4u.da.ru the entire flash movie is written as a layer to unload the bonus icon.

Can someone help me. My index page shows the whole movie. The website at http://www.bonus4u.da.ru is written using flash layers, I suppose. And the flash is written to unload the bonus.

Can someone explain how to do this effect. How to create a rollover from the clicking on the url to bring up the second button.

I am an absolute newbie to flash and I need help.

I am using dreamweaver to put together the pages.

This is my problem:I have a SWF file with a menu bar - buttons(Aboutus, FAQ)- on the top frame. Now when I click these buttons, I want the bottom frame to be updated with different html pages. How/Where should i give the link? Will loadURL work?

Hi,

I've got a site that consists of a frameset of 4 frames. Within the top frame is the .swf file used for navigation purposes where buttons within the .swf target to the mainFrame within the frameset.

However for some reason the .swf will not 'load' properly. I am 99.9% certain that its not the flash file or a design issue as when the particular frame/page containg the .swf is loaded within the browser on its own (i.e. not as part of the frameset) it works no probs??

this only happens when using Internet Explorer on Windows XP? but when using Netscape, again no probs? my initial explanation is that its down to me having XP but i don't know.

the best way to describe whats happening is when the frameset loads the preloader in scene1 works fine but then on scene2 initialising it sounds like 'links' are being continuously 'clicked'?? im using named anchors in the .swf if someone knows whether that will effect whats happening?

hi, I am creating a site with two frames, top and main. The top has my main movie with all navigation. I am using pretty basic ActionScript to update the nav and headers in the flash movie and using a geturl to change the content page in the main html window. Is there a way I can access the main flash movie from an html page in the main content frame? If I have a simple html text link that is calling another subpage in another section, how can I get it to also tell the main flash movie to reload the proper graphics for that section? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Same Swf Loaded In 10 HTML Frames
I intend to build a webpage consisting of 10 equally divided frames. In each frame, I want the same html file to load. This html file will contain a swf file.

Question is, will this increase loading time dramatically? will the swf just load once even though there are 10 copies of it at the end?

Hey all,

I am trying to design a website that has a frame (I'll call it frame 1) to the left of it which contains a Flash Menu. When someone presses a button on the menu, I want it to send frame 2 (not frame 1) to the URL that is specifyed in the button. Is there a way of doing this?

I've tried just using the GetURL command, but all the does is directs the frame that the menu is in to the URL.

I am working on a project that requires the use of frames. For example, have the buttons on one side and when you click a button the information appears on the other side of the document.

I want to find out if it is possible to create a flash interface (with buttons) in one part of a browser frame (html frame) and then to open a link from the flash interface in another frame.

Do I use "geturl" and then in the script specifiy the target frame?

Flash W/ Html Frames
A bit to tricky for me. What I have is an html frame page that is broken up into 2 frames, the top and bottom. The top frame page is html and contains the flash, the bottom frame is cfm. and contains the coldfusion code that reacts to the flash action. What I want to happen is when the submit button, in flash on the top frame, is pushed it will reload the bottom frame with the changes that were passed to it from the flash submit button without reloading the flash page. The _blank, _self, _parent, _top controls don't quite get the job done right and I have to use frames because then it just reloads the entire page including the flash. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Swf Placing In Html Frames
hi. i have a problem with placing my flash movies (.swf) in frames in an HTML site. there is always an 'invisible' border around the flash movie (or sound player in this case). i dont know how to get my .swf to go INTO the corner of for example the top frame, and not about 5 pixels away from the edges in the corner. is there any way to do this?

and also, is there a way to fix the movies in place. because if you really try with your mouse and select what is around the movie, you can move the movie (scroll the site, i guess).

ok.. maybe it isnt too clear what i'm on about. but that's coz i don't know all the technical ... 'terms'
