Illustrator Export To Flash As Animation
I'm trying to export a blend from Illustrator inot Flash, but when I get to the SWF options dialog box, then click on advanced all the option I need for animation are greyed out.

Anyone know what I need to do to get the options back??

btw, please don't complain that I listed this in the 'Flash' section of the forum instead of the 'Illustrator' section. I tried to access the Illustrator section first, but it is currently not working .

Is It Possible To Read A Text File And Draw Animation Dynamically In Flash
Hi,

I want to draw lines and animations similar to (Flow Charts) dynamically based on the information provided in a text/XML file.

The file has information about:
1) Shape of the simple animation like rectangle and image to be drawn
2) Relative position of the animation that has to been shown

Wondering whether this is possible with Flash 5.

I would appreciate if any one can post a sample file explaining the above mentioned scenario.

Using An Animation To Draw...
i'm using flash mx 2004 pro...

i have a pen that i want to write out whatever i tell it too...similar to this ...i'm just taking a different approach to it...

i have an animation of a pen in flash and i would like it to draw a line or make a mark where ever the tip of the pen is... so basically i'm doing something like my_mc.lineTo(pen._x, pen._y) but that's not working...i've created an empty movie clip, set the lineStyle, etc. ...there's just nothing showing up when the animation runs...maybe you can't do it this way, but i would just like to see what others have to say about this...thank you...

Draw Animation
Does anyone have any sample code to show me how to create the effect of flash drawing lines. I've seen swf's before where a drawing is drawn line by line right on the stage. It's almost as if they had an existing image and somehow told flash to redraw it line by line, because there were too many lines to do it manually.

Any ideas? And samples?

I made a black picto(no colors) on illustrator,i saved it in jpeg and when i import it to flash i get this white square around it!!! i want to get rid of it but i dont know how. Can u help me?

WHat is the best way to import an adobe illustrator 9.0 doc to a .fla file, keeping all of the vectors, and gradients? ALso, I've divided up every different object, text string and box into a different layer, how do I convert those layers into flash objects or layers?

Hi...this is my first time using this thing...hopefully someone in the virtual world can help, cause one in my world can...

My question:

I have used the CALLIGRAPHIC brush in illustrator, and would like to import these lines to Flash...however, Flash seems to convert these lines and make them thin and wimpy looking. In illustrator, I have tried "expanding appearances", so it converts the lines to shapes, and I've also tried to "flatten transparency", but none of these two methods work. I can't re-draw what i've done using the paintbrush in Flash, because it's a complex illustration.

When i'm in Illustrator, I export layers as .swf files...but this calligraphic line is a big problem. Any suggestions? All I want is what I've done in illustrator to look the same in Flash!!! I thought these two vector programs were more compatible...can anyone help?

I was wondering if you are able to import a drawing completed in Illustrator 9.0 Into Flash 5.0 with all gradients intact. Each time I try to do this they all become black and white. Any help would be great thanks!

I am trying to export a file (flattened) from ILL 10 to Flash MX. I know flash accepts the .eps format, but for some reason it it displays an error message after it is almost imported in flash saying that some of the file canot be understood.

Flash For Illustrator
i love Flash's interface and know how to sue all the drawing tools. But when i go to use something like photosop its way to confusing. So is there anyway to use flash to make layouts only? Can i copy and paste into some other porgram or can I save it as a jpeg?

If no, than whats a good program to make layouts in? I do't like photshop at all, I can't even draw lines and make boxes and stuff. What do you reccomend?

I was wondering if anyone knew of an easy way to do this. I want the exact vector objects in illustrator to be in flash. I don't much care about the colors.. I can always change those. Look what happens when I try to do it though. Top is illustrator .. bottom is flash

Notice how the "smoke" is messed up and so are the lines.

i currently have Illustrator 8, if i only use it along with Flash MX, do I really need to upgrade to CS? you can only save as illustrator version 7 to import properly into flash mx correct ? thanks @

I've been trying to get the graphics department to export their Illustrator files [CS3] in a format that I can import into Flash. They use a lot of gradients and they come into Flash like sh*#! All chunky. They had older Freehand files that they exported as swfs worked good.

Any ideas? Please I need to resolve this issue.

[MX] Using Illustrator Cs2 With Flash
HI there -I didn't get any responce whn I post this in the flash mx forum so thought I'd give U guys a try - if this is the wrong section please couldja lemme kno where 2 stick it.
Bassically I've been having a few issues importing from cs2 to flash mx - the files never seem 2 look the same (either random bits are missing or it just won't clip to the art board set by illustrator). I've tried importing as ai and swf files (swf are slightly better but by no means perfect.
Also flash interperates every element of the images as a seperate symbol which makes it clunky and cumbersome to make changes and the really complex pictures jut jam the program up til it moves at an agonising pace.
I've got a feeling that its something I need to amend in illustrator before exporting the files - any ideas guys???

Hi first I wanted to introduce my self and explain some of my problems with flash. I feel kinda down that Im so lazy and have had flash on my computer for the past 5 years and still just know basic flash skills or intermediate I could say. Over the past years I never really pushed my self to learn but I have learned little here and there gradually just when I was bored [edited out by mod]** and felt creative and every once in awhile watching some CartoonSmart.com tutorials. Any one else had flash as long as me and still not so good in flash? Just curious if im the only one out there. Ive noticed I usually just use flash to trace my drawings or my friends drawings and give a little life to them. Make them do walk cycles and look cute in front of children like backgrounds I draw. I run into the problem when Im trying to animate my characters (I know how to do it) and after so many frames I get bored and just decide to leave my animation unfinished or just leave it as vector art. After doing this for so long I wondered if Illustrator would be a good option for me since I think its used mainly for just vector based art. So I opened it up today and sorta of got discouraged as its a whole new world to me and I really find flash a very easy and powerful vector art program and love the way you can manipulate shapes and use lines and layers and the colors to get just about what ever it is your trying to make. What's the main difference between Illustrator and Flash for doing just non animated art? Should I try learning or should I just stick with Flash? Usually when I try to animate my flash I get bored and never finish once Im like into 10 seconds of animation... Anyone else suffer the same problem and how do you cope with it and actually finish it? Any tips? Anyways its my goal to at least make a few cartoons in flash before I die and one thing Im not so sure how to do is make my characters talk.. lip sync em etc... any one have any good links which help on making my characters talk with real voices? Good morning.

I'm trying to import Illustrator files into Flash but am experiencing some problems!

The Scenario:
I have a bunch of logo's as EPS files that I open in Illustrator. They need to be kept as vectors and brought into Flash so in the animation they can be re-sized up and down with no loss of quality.

The Problem:
If I drag a logo from the Illustrator window, into Flash the parts of the logo become separated, and the colours change. If I save the files as .ai and import into Flash the same thing occurs.

I am also getting an error message when I try to import .ai files...

Can anyone suggest a reason, and a possible fix for this? As stated before the logo's need to be kept as vectors so they can be scaled up and down.

Now I am trying to use a logo that has 3 separate layers but when I import it into Flash it comes in as one piece (Which is what I want) but the mask will only work with one of the layers. Is it true that Flash can only import and export Adobe Illustrator files in version 8.0 format or earlier???? I've got Illustrator 10 and i'm using it to blur some text then trying to import it into flash mx..........

I have looked through the forums for ways to import an illustrator file into flash but haven't found something specific as I am looking for.

I have Flash 8 and when I import either an eps or swf from Illustrator I can only export my Flash movie in version 8. If I try to export it down to 7 I get an error message saying that Flash 7 does not support an enhanced stroke.

Since the viewing statistics for Flash 8 are not out yet, I do not want to save all my files as 8 unless absolutely necessary. If I create an object in Illustrator, lets say a circle with a red fill and black stroke, can I not import that into Flash without it only being able to play in version 8?

I would imagine that there would be a way to import it so that it would be compatible with 7. How did people do it before 8 came out?

Flash And Illustrator
A few weeks ago I was honored to pitch for a pretty high dollar job and I won it.

I could do everything they were asking with the exception of making a logo. I wasnÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢t very proficient in Illustrator but I figured I could figure it out as I went along.

Well the first part of the payment came and they wanted the logo first so they could start using it. So for the next few days I tried to take a crash course on illustrator CS2. I got pretty good but still did not know how to do very much at least compared to creating vectors in Flash.

I decided to create it in Flash and see if I could copy and past and work around that way. Well to make a long story even longer I found out by mistake that you could export out of Flash into Illustrator 6 format.

The reason I am telling you all this is because it is was a life saver for me. I was able to take what I already know create a logo within just a few hours export it and well now I have a logo.

There are a few minor changes I have to make to the gradients and colors within Illustrator but all-in-all it came out great.

For those who do not know how to do this just create a vector graphic in Flash.

Select > File > Export > Image> and then choose your format from there.

Flash To Illustrator... Or Freehand
I need to know if theres a way to export images to illustrator or freehand and keep the transparencies and gradients cool and the same.
I've become accustomed to drawing with flash and the wacom pad but i need to blow up one of my drawings now. the hard part is that the colors get screwed up and i lose transparencies and tints etc. ... gradients dont look goog blown up either....! aHHHHH!! maybe someone knows of a little program that helps with this...?

Is there anyway to convert a flash file (say, .fla or any other flash file that can hold an image) to open it with Illustrator? The reason I ask is because saving images in Flash 5 ruins the gradients for me. And seeing as Flash 5 isn't an image programe, I thought Illustrator might help?

I'm copying and pasting from illustrator 10 to flash mx and having a few problems. When I paste into mx the lines of the shapes i am working with look jaggy and loose their cleaness...

has anyone had this before? is it something i'm doing wrong? Is there an easier way? I used to be able to copy from illustrator 9 straight into flash 5 with no problems, is this a mx bug?

Does anybody know the proper way to keep color values consistent between Illustrator and Flash?

I have an illustrator document, and when I bring the file into Flash, all of the colors seem washed out. Is there a certain setting or anything for the colors (CMYK, RGB, Spot, etc) in Illustrator so they look the same when brought into Flash?

I am making images in Illustrator, but then when I want to copy them over to Flash, the line thickness of the images are distorted and if I save it as a .jpg or .gif, it has a white space surrounding the image. Any way to get the image over to Flash without losing any content or quality?

Big Illustrator With Flash Problem

I really hope you can help me.

I have a very complex illustrator file with hundreds of vectors and clipping masks...etc. I have tried everything i can think of to copy the image into flash but it just won't do it.

If i export as a SWF and then import back into flash, it crashes.

If i copy and paste into Flash, it crashes again.

I tried flattening transparancy, expanding.... etc, but still no luck.

Does anyone know how i can do this please?

I know Ilustrator never works well with Flash, but there must be a way, to get vectored artwork into flash with out it getting corrupted.

okay, never noticed this before but here goes... if i export from illustrator and import into flash the graphical elements stay the same size, great! but if i copy from illustrator and paste into flash then the graphics appear bigger by about 15%... any ideas as to why this is?

Hi all,

I'm a newbie with Flash, but I have to create something specific in Flash for work. I'm trying to create an interactive map. Originally, this was a project done with GIS software but the IT Dept. wouldnt support it for us, so I exported all the information (Map image, icons, and geocoded data) into a .pdf, which I turned into an Illustrator file and finally have it all organized the way I want it.

Now, I need to be able to play with this file in Flash so I can start learning how to go about adding interactivity to the map. Problem is, when I try to use the Import option in Flash and choose my Illustrator file I get a message saying, "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them", and that's it. It doesnt tell me what kind of problems or how to go about trobleshooting. In Illustrator, the export option lets me export the entire file or individual layers as .swf, but not .fla. How should I go about exporting/importing the different layers in order for me to be able to work with them in Flash? Thanks in advance

I don't if I can do it, but I want that each layer of an illustrator file can be spread on differents layers in flash mx 2004 professional.

If not, do I need to create a swf of each Design and assign them to different Scene?

From Illustrator To Flash With Vectors
I've been having trouble with taking a vector image, that I created in Illustrator CS2, and bringing into Flash MX as a vector image. Regardless of the way I save the file (export it or save as a certain type), when I import it into flash it looks terrible and is on multiple layers, and doesn't even appear to be a vector image. What am I doing wrong?

I have been told to save it as a "Illustrator Legends" but I don't see that option (maybe on an older version).

I'm getting really frustrated

i was wondering if there was any way to export vector objects from coreldraw or illustrator (preferably coreldraw) into macromedia flash with the number of points unchanged.

i tried exporting the objects as swf/ai/eps files from illustrator/draw but would always end up with more points after i "break apart."
