Hi, ive been working on my website (as well as a few others), my style of site is usually a modern "new-york" style, but I want music to go along with it. I cant find any cool sound loops places, and ive used too much time.

I Have To Make A Site For A DJ. What Cool Effects Could I Add To The Site?
I do not have the site uploaded at the moment, but i am working on a DJ's website. (Known as DJK). He wants something similar to how the effect on http://www.meamusic.com/site.htm works but he doesnt want it exactly like that. He wants some kind of cool background lighting effects and such. I am not quite sure how might do this and make the website still run effectively and smoothly. I will upload the site once i get on my computer at home. Any ideas?

My questions is,
What would the Publish settings be for a flash movie which is 100% scalable like this.
I have triied many times and cannot recreate this look.

*if you save the site and open it up in an HTML editor, you will notice the flash.swf is (width = 100% and the height = 100%) but the site doesn't scale that way when you re-size your monitor?

Cool Full Screen Site, But How ?
hi all, i have recently seen some sites on the macromedia showcase that make use of the full screen popup (CBC Home Delivery). the popup has a top bar where a menu rests and i think it looks great.

i would like to know how they made the fs popup, as there are diff. screen sizes and other things to be taken in consideration. if anyone can explain the process please do as i would like to use this for my next site.

Cool Site Navigation..how Does It Work?

I saw this awesome site with cool navigation and each time the page refreshes, the background image changes the same as in the flash file:

Any ideas how this is achieved? Just need to be pointed in the right direction. I am assuming the flash file calls a javacscript in the HTML and it reloads the background accordingly but just wanted to share info.

To Create A Cool Flash Site....
...how much is Flash knowhow and how much is a natural flair for artistic design?

I'd like to think that I could learn Flash and AS to a high degree of competancy (as I can pick programming languages up fairly quickly.

However, anything that i do in Flash that I try to make remotely good-looking and pleasing on the eye, always turns out to be utter rubbish.

I just don't have the natural talent and flair for graphic design.
Do you think that it's something you can learn, or do you need to be born with it?

My only thought is to buy a flash template that looks somewhat similiar to the cool flashy site. I've looked on a few sites and nothing catches my eye .... any thoughts, feedback, advise? Here are my questions...

1.) towards the top right of the page (anypage) there is some text that says "current projects <--Scrolling buttons etc..."
I would like to have links (ie buttons) that scroll from right to left that are the names of current projects that they are working on...
---Then when you roll over this "scrolling movie clip" it will stop scrolling. Then you can click on the desired link or roll you mouse back out... On the mouse rollout the movie will start scrolling again. I've searched all over and can't find out how to do this...

2.) How do you load an external text file (.txt)(or even better a Word file) into a dynamic text box...What actions would I put on the dynamic text box.

What Is A Good Tutorial Book For A Newbie To Start Making A Really Cool Site
I was just wondering what is a good book on flash 5 that would give a newbie without a lot of time the ability to make some really cool sites? Emphasis on without a lot of time. Need something that I can go through and learn in like 20 hours or something.

Looping Loops Of Loops
First of all, a BIG hello to the Flash kit Community...

this is my first post to this board, wont be my last :P

now to business... i have a small problem. What i need to create is an accelerating counter... eg.

Code:
at frame | the counter says| special counter
1 0 25
25 1 24
49 2 23
72 3 22
94 4 21

so as the movie iterates through the special counter drops by 1 until the counter is looping at 25fps. the counter(ascending)controls a movieclip which contains images of numbers(these refer to seconds). when that counter gets to 10 it resets and pushes the "tens of seconds counter" up by one......now what i want to do id

i hope i havent lost anyone....

now when the "seconds" start iterating at 25fps i want the "tens of seconds" to begin accelerating .... and so on through minutes, tens of minutes and finally hours.

so far it is shaping up as an evil series of nested ifs.... there has to be a better way.... any ideas?
tricky bits arise also as "tens of minutes" and "tens of seconds" loops from 1 to 6 ....

"hours" shouldnt need to iterate for too long anyways...

if anyone has some ideas i would very much like to hear them :P

I'm Having Problems With "if " Loops Inside "for" Loops. Help?
I am trying to execute an "if" statement inside a "for" loop. There are no formating errors in the script, but when I test the movie, it hangs for a minute or so, then a message comes up saying that my code might be to complex. Could somebody maybe shed some light on this?

Newbie Needing Some Site Building Guidance - How To Structure A Site?
I need a little help - I am designing an art portfolio in Flash, and so I need it to be a site that has a few different pages that are linked between each other - you know, common sense. I really have no idea how to go about structuring that. I've been doing well at animations and buttons and ActionScript and all kinds of things in Flash, but I just don't understand how to make several pages that are part of the same document. Do you use scenes, or different "projects" within the document, or what? And then how do you link to them - just like it was any other URL?

I GUESS I mean, how do you design in Flash using a home page and then other pages to navigate to?

Help Finishing Up My First Flash Site - Using Navigation To Display Different Sections Of The Site?
Thanks for looking! i am making my first flash site, and im not sure what to do next in regards to navigating through the site. I have different sections, home, info, hardware, equipment, etc, but im not sure how to make each section appear when you click the corresponding navigation link. i have an idea but im not sure how to execute it.

Should i make a movie clip for each section (home, info, hardware, contact), then place each movie clip in its own frame on the main time line, and on each navigation link button (each one is a movie clip) use action script and put a gotoAndPlay() code with the frame number of the corresponding section? so when you click it, it goes to that frame which has the movie clip that has the content for that part of site, say contact, or info?? if so how can i do this?

that sounds really confusing and im sorry but please help out a beginner! Thank you and happy halloween!

Need To Retrieve Site URL (http Referrer) Of The Site My Flash Player Is Placed On

I am trying to implement a custom flash player where my embedded source code (<OBJECT></OBJECT>) can be placed on various websites. I would like to gather some information of the users who are using my flash player on their site. I wrote the following code inside the flash player to gather the site URL (http referrer) so I can send this piece of information back to my server.

Have A Flash 6 Site That Loads External Txt, Swf, And Mp3 And The Site Works On My...
mac,but when viewed on PC...none of those external files load into the main movie. Anyone know what may cause this to happen? another thing...this site was done in flash 5 (worked fine then), but went with 6 at the end to use the mp3 streaming feature.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Full Flash Site - Site Architecture Problem
Sorry for this post, but i'm really having trouble grasping the idea of multiple clips, transitions and the scripting to make it all happen.

I have been fiddling with flash for over 3 years now and should be alot farther along, I just wish i had spent as much time on flash as I have on Photoshop.

I now have my own domain, and want to make a fully flash site, as imageReady rollovers just don't get it for me anymore and I want to make a nice site with some impact...queue the flash guru's

The site i'm looking at and want to model as an experiment is www.desalledesigns.com

as far as I can tell, I need the following movie clips

1. transition (to include a preloader... close one content, preload scene, open next content)
2. content1
3. content2
4. content3
5. intro (actually would be a scene)
6. and so on.

is there a tutorial around that dives into this type of site organization?
