.swf File Different In Flashplayer/web

Greetings,

I'm building a flash movie on a Mac but I want it to run on a Windows machine without having to install it in an HTML page (the way it works on a Mac). I thought it was possible to export the movie as an EXE file but I can't seem to find that option now.

I'm making a slide show that uses action scripting to time a couple of frame pauses and my screensaver application (iScreensaver www.iscreensaver.com) doesn't appear to be supporting it. I thought I would be able to just double-click the swf but it doesn't open on Windows like it does on my Mac.

Freespire(linux) Installation Problem: "/flashplayer-installer: No Such File Or Directory"
I'm a little new to Linux, and my friend gave me a copy of freespire to try out. So far I've managed to install Mozilla Firefox successfully, which was surprisingly easy.

Right now I'm having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, though... I'm following these instructions offered on the download page:

.tar.gz installation

1. Click the "Download .tar.gz" link. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
2. Save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
3. Unpackage the file. A directory called install_flash_player_9_linux will be created.
4. In terminal, navigate to this directory and type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. Click Enter. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).
5. Once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To verify, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.

I've followed the steps successfully so far, but for some reason I can't get Konsole to recognize/run the flashplayer-installer... After following the instructions for step 4, I get the following response:

bash: /flashplayer-installer: No such file or directory

Which is odd, because I'm looking right at it. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong, or what might be causing this?

Too Big In Flashplayer
Is there anyway to adjust the size of your movie in the flashplayer? Other than going back and changing the sizes of elements in the fla. I can't scroll down and have part of my movie not showing......

Need Flashplayer.exe
I really need a flashplayer (5 or 6) in .exe form for windows /ie that I can DL. Its really important so if anyone can get a link PLEASE do. my life depends on it. :| rememeber, it can be version 5 or 6

reason: Im doing a shcool project in .swf form and am bringing it to class on a computer w/projection screen the school has to present to everyone.

problem: the computer is older than dust and dosnt have flash on it. its win 98 w/ ie.

problem 2: the project was done in swish simply because It allowed me to make a fancy looking (atleast to the clsses web-designed eyes) in about a night. unlike flash, you can export to .exe so Im screwed unless I get flash on that computer.

problem 3: there is no internet, so I cannot just get it from macromedia.com

plz help and I will send you wine, gold, and virgins. thanks in advance.

Do I Need FlashPlayer
Please let me know do i have to get Flash Player beside fact, that, i use only exe projectors all the time across my content of CD, but some movies which are compressed fron AVI format into SWF(AVIs were too big for packing) must be loaded in my projectors, so do i need anyway to have a Flash Player, because we all know that projectors including one in self. Is there any way that I can access the flashplayer window objects like, buttons(minimise, maximise and quit) and other events from a swf which is running inside that player?

I want to perform an actionwhenthe user quits the quit button of the flashplayer window.

Its not going to run on any browser, neither am I supposed to use third patry tools.

hi. I tested my website on my computer from the Internet here, and it worked beautifully, but when a colleage was testing it the site didn't work as it was supposed to. It seemed like it was an old flash player, but she had just installed the Flashplayer 8. As far as I'm concerned, it should work , but it looks like it doesn't show things on the timeline with Flash Pro 8-effects attached (blur etc.)....


Have anyone experienced this?

My conscious says I should warn you not do download FlashPlayer 9, yet!!

The Problem
This could be the side-effect of a "special feature" of Internet Explorer [release 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519].
First, check out this page in Firefox. After it has loaded - sorry, it loads 2 other components that aren't being used - it displays two (dynamic) textfields. The second textfield has the text "start". When you move your mouse across the page, this second textfield should start following your mousepointer. This is exactly what it's supposed to do.

Before we continue, I should mention that the flash object completely covers the browser window (100% width and height) and uses the window mode (alias wmode ) "noscale". I need it like that.

Now, try to do the same thing using Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). In my case, the second textfield only follows the mousepointer when it's moving above the textfield. That's strange enough, but it gets even worse than that. Move the mousepointer over the first (i.e. empty) textfield, and the second textfield starts following you again. Weird.

So what's going on?
Go back to your Firefox browser and right-click anywhere on the webpage. You'll constantly see the standard Flashplayer popup menu ("Zoom in","Show All", etc.,etc.). Wherever you click, you won't see the default Firefox right-click menu because the Flash object covers the entire page. Makes sense.
If you do the same thing in Explorer 6, you'll notice that the only spots where the Flashplayer popup menu will appear are above those two textfields. Anywhere else, you'll get default IE6 popup menu ("Back", "Save as ..", etc.,etc.) .

Conclusion
This means that IE6 doesn't consider the Stage object as being a "real" Flash object, (_level0, doesn't work either). It simply ignores it, so that you can still access HTML elements through the Flash object. Of course, this is VERY USEFULL for those rumoured "splash-ads". But definitely NOT for my applications!! Flash applications are supposed to be cross-browser compatible!!

The idea in itself is not bad, but now they're just hacking there way into the FlashPlayer. Why didn't they communicate this with Adobe and suggest the introduction of this new feature? Adobe could introduce a new window mode - let's say: "mixed" - so that this could be realized without messing with the "transparent" window mode. Transparency should do exactly what it says: make it possible to look through a given object.

This could be a tough discussion, because they're obviously not directly manipulating the Flashplayer. It's their own browser that does the extra work.

I really hope their hack doesn't work in combination with earlier versions of the Flash player.
Is this the start of another browser war??

Don't worry about me, though. It's easy to find a work-around for this issue.

BIG FF3 Bug With Flashplayer On Mac
I was recently alerted to the fact that some of my flash content wasn't working in Firefox 3 on a Mac by one of my work colleagues. After slowly tracking the bug down, I found that in Firefox flash doesn't seem to initialize properly. In my specific case, if I try to trace the stage.stageWidth or stage.stageHeight initially, either in the constructor function of the document class or in the first frame of the movie on the timeline, the result is 0. Since all of my assets use these values to position themselves, they were getting positioned all screwy.

I'm not sure if this is a bug in Firefox 3 or the Flash Player (v. 9.0.124). It only started happening with the new FF, but it could be a problem with the Flash Player.

Anyway, I just wanted to post this in case anyone else finds this to be causing them problems.

Pop Up & Flashplayer 8
Hi,

I have installed flash player 8 and for my surprise when I tried to open a pop up, or launch, my web site window using a JavaScript function it opened a window that told me that to allow that I must reconfigure my flash player and it redirected me to a macormedia site configuration window.
There is some way to bypass such a thing?
I mean I can´t make that people who maybe know nothing about flash player go to macromedia site and configure it to allow pop ups, that´s insane it should be allowed it by default!
What is MM people thinking?
am I´m doing something wrong? what do you think about this?

Javascript & Flashplayer
I need help, Im using Livemotion 1... is there a javascript to make the projector go fullscreen at 100% scale?

I used a "load movie" command to load a swf made in flash with the 2 fs-commands embeded (which works in a cd distribution), but my problem is that I need to distribute a small movie in an exe projector by e-mail, so I cant use 2 separate movies.

i don't have the slightest clue with flash at all, but i was able to use a code and make a live video stream of the viewer when they go to the file on a server... how would you go about making the live vide stream visible to all users? like having ones cameras stream visible to whomever is viewing the file/site?

Flashplayer 6 Detection
What is the easiest way to detect flash player six in your viewers browser. Then if possible start downloading it if they don't have the player?

I don't want one of those spash pages that ask the viewer to download the player if they don'r have it or enter if they do. I want them to go straight into the site if they have the player.

Downloading Flashplayer
I repeatedly try to download FlashPlayer from the Macromedia site but no joy.
The kids are doing my head in as they cannot use many of their fave sites. I am using using broadband connection via a cable modem, on XP and my browser is IE6. Any ideas? I have tried many times but no joy. I get to the site , click on download and nada!!! Most frustrating, so thought I would come to the experts.

How Can I Get Flashplayer On IBook?
Can someone please help me? Am taking Flash class & wanted to view websites with good Flash action. My Apple IBook doesn't have Flash tho it is OS 9.2. I use Microsoft Internet Explorer to access wed.
Went to Macromedia site and followed their troubleshooting steps with no luck. Tried calling them & they gave no phone help.
Have called Apple twice & they tell me they can't help me because Microsoft Internet Explorer was bundled on my IBook. So I'm supposed to get in touch with Microsoft somehow.
I certainly do not want to buy Flash to create sites if I cannot view the sites on the web?
Is there a guru out there who can help me?

Loadmovie Without Flashplayer?
i am making an interactive projector to be distrubuted on cd.
i am linking the video content instead of embedding it to avoid a large intial file size.
i have placed each video clip into swf, and am using load movie to put each of these into the main projector.

the reason i am using a projector is that probably hardly any of our audience will have flashplayer- so, will the user need flashplayer to view the .swf videos loaded into the exe?

Weird FlashPlayer
Hi,

I'm used to have the normal "Macromedia Flash Player" on my computer where I could test out my exported .swf's. But somehow it isn't working anymore. I've tried uninstalling it and going to the website of macromedia to reïnstall it. But on the site it ONLY installs the ActiveX control-object. Not the standalone thing player.
Does anyone know how to install just the player (not the activeX thing)

Take a look at my files, open index.htm from your desktop and click the Red Ball button. This should open Google.com in the frame next to it, labeled "content". But when I click it, nothing happens.

When I upload everything online, it DOES work like it supposed to.

Who's got the same problem opening index.htm from the desktop? And who can tell me why it won't work with geturl this way?

Flashplayer Trouble
Today my flash player decided to start ignoring all gotoandplay commands. This is really pissing me off, because I had everything working yesterday and I come back today and nothing works. Does anyone know why this is? I really don't want to have to redo the whole thing in another file.

Hi folks,

Does anyone know of any differences between these two sub-versions of the Player? I have an interactive map with icons (that are components) on each property. The icons are not displaying in the ,28 version player, but the 115 version works perfectly?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm not using any unusual code here and it's written in AS2, so shouldn't any and everything run in any 9 version player?

Reinforce Flashplayer
Now i'm working on a really big project, which contains lots of swf.
and i can't really reduce anything.

so i just wonder if there's a way to reinforce flashplayer?
'cause for me it's really frustrated to be limited like this...
and why does flash crave so much of the cpu when you got games with so much more graphic and so on, can run on your system without any problem?

Flashplayer 8 Not Working
...So about half an hour ago I followed some link to a site that required the flashplayer8 to be installed, so I thought "Oh what the heck" and downloaded it.
I opened the exe and I got this selectyourlanguage-box, I clicked english and OK, then I got a box that said I had to close firefox, so I did and clicked RETRY. Then all the files were installed and opened the site in firefox.
Guess what, nothing. As a matter of fact no swf will show in firefox anymore... what the f_ck!?
I even ran the exe another time, with no better results....damnit.

How do I go about uninstalling this child of sodomy?

But now in the new version of FlashPlayer it

Flashplayer Hangs Up
I've got a Flash presentation that I will be putting on a CD as an EXE.

It has a lot of large images that pan in and out - not even using alpha fades. Nothing too fancy. But when the images transition from one to the next, flashplayer hangs up and gets real jumpy.

Is there any way to make the animations less CPU intensive?

I'm doing all my animation on the timeline, would it help if I did the animations using actionscript? Do I need to unload the images after they're gone?

Flashplayer 9 Downloads
I don't know why, but i cannot download Flash Player 9. It just goes to a screen that loads with an error. Works fine on my desktop but not my laptop. I have used the uninstaller that adobe provides, but cannot get a new copy to install. Tried in IE and Modzilla. Any ideas?

No Sound In Flashplayer
I'm getting absolutely no sound on my flash player, regardless whether it's on firefox or internet explorer. This doesn't happen on quicktime or windows media players, and my volume control is fine! Help!
