Inverting Colours Or Replacing Colours
is it possible to use AS to replace a certain colour with a another one?

To explain, I have a large number of fla's with text in them, and most of the text is black, but some of it is multi-coloured. I would like to be able to change the background to black and the black text to white, while keeping the coloured text the same. The fla's are pretty complex, with most of the text in movieClips, so to try and select onlt the black text and make it white is way to complex...plus, I want to give the user the option of either black background white text, or white background black text...

SOO,
as per my original question, is there a replace colour function, or any way of making ONLY the black text white?

Colours
after just experimenting with several forms of solid colours and also gradients, I have noticied that none of them give a (3D sorta effect.
I was wondering what people do in order to make their menus and banners have a better "feel" instead of that bland solid fill.

HEX Colours
Flash and Dreamweaver use HEX colours, works great with photoshop6 and 7 cos they support it to. But what if I only have photoshop5, is there any way around it so that I can perfectly match colours?

Background Colours
I've sorta finished the first stage of my first Flash piece thanks to a lot of help from people on this website. I have one problem though. I have sixteen graphics in my piece, and 13 of the sixteen show a different colour background than the other three. I've looked and looked to find the difference in them, to no avail. They all seem to have the same RGB colour. Does anyone have any ideas?

How Do I Get Text In Two Different Colours?
Em... bit of a silly question really...
But how do I get text in two or more different colours?

This is what I'm doing...
I have a text box... with loads of text... a few paragraphs say...
I highlight individual words and change their colour.
Looks OK in Flash itself...
BUT... as soon as I test it by making the SWF...
Well the text comes out in one colour...

What am I doing wrong!

Okay, first I want to know how to set the colour of an object using AS. Then I want to know how to set random colour for an object. Anyone know?

Dynamic Colours
What I want to do, is make a site with dynamic colours. So that the user can choose what colours the site is. I have set up some mc's that I would like to change the colour of but I'm not sure which command to use. I can't seem to get setRGB to do anything at all, but I'm probably just doing it wrong. What command should I use for this and how should it be used? I am fairly competent in actionscript so I can set up the controls and everything, I just need to know what command to use for the colour setting, and it's syntax. Thanx in advance

Howdy doods , how do you import colours into flash? Does anybody know where to find dif colour palets I have been using flash for year now and i am getting sick of the same ol colours. Looken for a lot blues really a lot blues and greyy blues!

im attaching a mc onto the stage and duplicating it 20 times and also randomly placing them....

Movieclip Colours
I posted this in the actoinscrpt forum but to no avale, so i thought id try it here.
Ok, I am only a beginner so be gentle and dont moan if this has been asked many times before. I have a movieclip which is a black square and instance name bigblacksquare. I then have 4 buttons called bluechangingbutton , redchangingbutton , greychangingbutton and greenchangingbutton . I want these buttons to change the colour of the square.
What code will be needed for each button, the movieclip and the first frame of the movie.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've made a small movie with 3 buttons, the first attaches a movieClip every time it is pressed, the second removes the movieclips one by one and the third clears all attached movieClips. All the buttons work but i want a little more!

I want to have it that when the movieClips is attached, it is randomly set a colour from a selection of colour variables. I've tried a few methods but none of them worked, I can only get it to set a single colour.

I've attached the .fla file in the hope that this will help.

This is probably really easy.

I have a text box with text in different colours. When I test or export the movie the text is all in one colour (the first used).

Any ideas how to sort this without creating lots of textboxes?

Hi,

I have 2 graphics - exactly the same but different colors - 1 blue and one white.

I would like the first graphic to fade into the second graphic and then back again....

Any ideas how I can do this? so it looks like the blue is changing to white and back to blue?

Cycle Through Colours
hey, i've created code that draws a bar graph based on data returned from a dBase. I'm wanting each bar to be a different colour. The number of bars is always different (from 1 bar, to a 20-bar chart).

How can you do this so it cycles through the colours of the spectrum evenly? (ie: 3 bars = red, green, blue. 7 bars = red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue, violet) etc, based on the number of bars?

I know it's going to be along the lines of:

bar8Colour = toHex(spectrum/totalbars * 8);
bar9Colour = toHex(spectrum/totalbars * 9);

I am having trouble with exporting jpeg graphics, and gifs, as the colour dont match up with the content within my flash swf. especially if i am running a tiled image to match with my flash graphics...

what i need is for someone to show me how to make the line colour change and go through all the colours of the rainbow,

i have tried but i get some odd results, i know you have to use bitewise shift but i am unexperienced with this method.

Colours And Shades
hello,

i have 20 mc's, when i pick a colour from my colour picker component i want the 20 mc's to show the various shades of the colour selected (from dark to light).

i have tried using setTransform() but all i get is a white - black "shade spectrum"

how would i go about getting the various shades of a colour?

also, how can i extract the seperate R, G and B values from a RGB value?

Dynamically Add Different Colours To MC?
How do I add different colours to instances of the same MC dynamically on the stage? I have 8 instances of the same MC (mov1-8) on the stage and wish to give them different colours. I can't do it manually as then they all change colour at the same time.

Glitches When Using Colours
Sometimes when I use the paintbucket tool, it messes up colors that are touching the area that I color.
For example, I might use the paintbrush tool, select the color red, and draw a happy face. I decide to color the happy face with a different shade of color (pink) so I use the paintbucket tool, but when I do it, the entire face turns this new color (even the eyes and mouth that I drew in red)...so it just looks like a blob.

I have also had a symbol that used a lot of colors, but I needed to edit it, but when I do, certain parts of the details in the colors turn into "blobs".

Does anybody else have this problem?

Do you guys have any glitches working with this program or am I doing something wrong?

Hey guys, I love Joshua Davis' work, and am trying to learn how he does it. For those that do not know him: www.joshuadavis.com
He uses flash to generate art, and he does some beautiful work.

and how he uses var mycolor and assigns random colors to the grey tones.

Any ideas? I've attached an image of what I've done.. I've got a blank mc which chooses random images from the library and places them in a circle. But I cant figure out how to colour the images on the fly too.
So I've got up to the bit where the images are placed randomly(within limits) on the stage, now its just the color..

I was thinking either one shade of grey would be a random colour each time, or i wouldnt really care if each shade of grey became something different.

Anyone know how it is done?

Filling Colours
I have two movie clips on the one stage with a color palette to select from. I want to click on the color and then on the movie clip on the stage that i want to fill. It will work when there is only one movie clip however when i add the second mc it will not work. Any suggestions on how to get around this would be greatfully appreciated

I have a movie clip and I have to revert all the colours inside it. For example black will be white, white will be black, light blue will be dark blue, dark blue will be light blue and so on. Is there a way to achieve this goal automatically (for example changing some propriety of the clip) or have I to modify the movie manually ?

Colours Don't Appear Correctly?
I'm saving images in photoshop as 24 bit PNG files. When I view these as .pngs via a browser they appear correctly, but when I view them in a .swf file on the same web page the colours aren't correct. Hex #1A1A1A is displaying much lighter, as #272727. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

for example if the background colour was 0x000000 have an object fall, if it is 0xFF0000 have it not fall.

I am wondering about how I could make coulour flow through something in flash.... wow that was a bad discription, lemme try again. For example say u have the word Welcome, and at first the letters have no fill, but then a colour shoots through them... I don't think it could be done with text, maybe you have to create your own graphic that is the word.. I donno, neway, if you can understand my tired ramblings give me a shout..

I was looking for a way to apply random colours to a movie clip and came across a tutorial on this site called 'Easy random Color' (within ActionScript tricks) which works very well but I wondered if anybody knows of a way to limit the colour pallet (i.e. select from 10 colours)

code used:

Im doing a web site in flash and i need to change the color of the shirt im fine with all the main color but when it comes to changing to white or black i cant do it heres the script i used for the other:

I have a title in flash with the var name of title_txt, the title text is set by a querystring (main.swf?title=Help) this works fine, my question is could somebody tell me how or give me a link that shows how I can access the colour property of the title so that I can use querystrings to set the colours, for example : main.swf?title=Help&bcolor=#800000&fcolor=#ffffff (bcolor=backgroundcolor fcolor=foregroundcolor) and the colours default to white and black if the querystrings are null.
