Flash :: AS 3.0 Help Wanted

I need some answers for some questions. Hopefully someone out there can help me.

Let's Begin:

Question:

1) How do you make the final product (swf, exe) full screen and overlapping the task bar?

2) How do you print what is currently being viewed on the screen becuase I'd like to put a print button?

3) Can you print something that is not currently on the stage? For example, if you have a movie clip out of view.

Just Wanted To Say Hello
I just started learning Flash today because I got bored with Photoshop. I came here while looking for the good old I AM SO LOST I need all the help I can get syndrom.

Something Ive Always Wanted To Know
Hey guys,
This is something Ive always wanted to know. It may be a little stupid but here goes anyway.....When you are creating a navigation bar, every button with the same animation, do you just duplicate the main button to use for all the buttons? Do you just duplicate them in the library and rename them? Does this make sense?

Help Wanted
i have created a menu which u can see in the file attached. the prob is that when i go from mainlink1 to reports teh sublinks work fine and also if i go to other main links like brower all is working fine but whe ni come backwards that is when my mouse comes from reports to mainlink1 the sublink of mainlink1 does not appear. if anyone can solve the bug it would be great!

to all the people that post here.
I dont post that often , mostly just read the other stuff as i dont feel i know enough about flash to answer questions . When i do post its usually after I have done lots of footwork and attempted to find the answer myself .
My longest wait time for an answer on ANY forum on this site is like 10 minutes ... thats .. well thats just killer ,so i wanted to post and thank all the people who dilligently answer questions !

Something Ive Always Wanted To Know
ive always wanted to know how to do this but never known what to look up in help books,
you normally get it in portfolio's where you click a thumbnail and the pictures fly by settling on the picture you have selected.

just need to know what to look up or if there is some stripped down code where i can see what is happening.

Hello everybody. I was wondering if anybody would be
able to lend me a hand on this website im working on.

to go thru all the sections, you can pretty much make
out whats what. I designed and built the site by
myself from scratch. The entire site is good except
for this one section, i need some serious programming
expertise to get it functional and complete. Im
guessing we would be using actionscript, PHP, and
MySQL to make it work. As this is one of my own
projects, i have no budget of any kind to pay anyone in
cash for their work....so i was wondering if there was

I got an idea from one of the animations from the great Andrieas Odendall, here on the site. His 3D with Z-sorting sparked an idea that I would like to implement into mine own website.

But, I am still just a web basic user. I have created flash animations and done some minor flash scripting and even so far as copy pasted a phpbb board into my site. So, you can tell [sarcasm] that I am a very high level user [/sarcasm].

Here is the general idea that I have:

I want to take the idea of the spheres rotating around an axis and link it to a multi level database. This means that the number of spheres on any given level would be dynamic based on the number of items listed in that level of the database. Now the database and information in it could be almost anything, but for an easy example I have chosen the idea of entertainment. For example:

Think of it as a drill down session. The top layer is might be a list of categories (books, movies, CDs, etc..)
Say I click on the sphere-link for "movies", then I would have an animation happen to where the other spheres shrink away and the movies sphere changes into the axis and a new set of spheres comes out of it based on the number of items inside of that level of the database, in this case it could be style genre (action, suspense, comedy, etc...)
Again, I could click on one, say "action", we could recall the animation that shrinks the other spheres and changes the chosen sphere into the new axis, and new spheres appear for further clicking (it could be either the leaf node with the movie titles, or it could be further branches involving search by actor, title, year, etc..)...
Anyway, you get the idea.
Well, whenever the leaf nodes are finally reached and clicked, they would link to a different animation that would show a picture and possible other collected information from the database related to the item clicked on.

I need the database and related info to be based on PHP and MySQL because that is what I have for my hosted web space.

So, I am wondering if any one or more than one person would be willing to help me make this and at what kind of cost...

I sent an email thru to Mr Odendaal's website of Wireframe some time ago, but have not heard back from him yet, that is why i have opened it up to people here.

Hello guys/gals im alright at flash but ever since this new version ive ben having problems trying to get my menu to control another external swf that holds all my "content".
if anyone is willing to tell me the action script to do this it would be appreciated here is what im trying to do.

i have a seperate menu that is supposed to controll another swf for each frame in my content.swf there is a frame for each "page". i need the menu to tell my content.swf what frame to go to. so in other words if you click shows would go to frame 2 in content.swf.. any help is greatly appreciated thank you in advanced.

Tell Target Help Wanted
Could someone give me a tip? When I have three links and each has a movie clip that loads on press, how can I make it so that the other two movies disappear if visible when another link is pressed? But when the links that disappeared are pressed they will play again when called.

if 0 is pressed i would like 1 + 2 to be out of sight. If 1 is pressed 0 + 2 out of sight etc. I tried setting property to visibility=false and nothing is working.

Wanted - .swf Downloader
Can anyone suggest a Windows NT app to download .swf's on web pages?

The problem is . . . the system that I'm using is on a secure network, so no system files can be written over during setup.

I'm looking for something which workd like Gozilla used to (where the url's file/folder structure is presented in an explorer style).

Fla File, Wanted

Could A Mac Tell You The Time Of Day, Even If It Wanted To?
That subject may piss a few people off. But I'm being serious!

I once made a very elaborate javascript which retrieved the date, and then used location.href to load a file specific to the day. When I showed a Mac user the site, it kept failing. I attributed this to the fact that Macs don't know what time of day it is.

Now, I went looking thru the Actionscript Dictionary to work something out, and came across the Date object. It reads:

The Date object allows you to retrieve date and time values relative to universal time (Greenwich Mean Time, now called Universal Coordinated Time) or relative to the operating system on which the Flash Player is running.

This instantly suggested that this object be useless on the Mac that I ran the script off that other time.

Can anyone proove me wrong? Could a Mac tell you the time of day, even if it wanted to?

(The mac in question was a little laptop.. nothing special, but only 12 months old.)

Countdown Wanted
Does anyone know of a free movie that can do a count down to a specific date? Ideally, this would read the target date from html tags or from a file.

I am going to make this as descriptive as possible so you have a real idea what it is I am looking for. I run a website, www.flashstand.com, it has had an arcade for about 4 months now, but it is in no way up to par (closed now). It was full of pac-man and space invader games, that no one wanted to play due to horrible lack of intrest. Our website recieves on average about 2000 unique hits a day (our post count was restarted a week ago and we already have 5,000 with no spam). All of the current staff is working hard to upgrade and make our site better in every way possible, but for the arcade, we need some help. We are looking for ONE person who can follow through with the following credentials:

1. Is on almost daily and eager to help.
2. Has a good attitude.
3. Has been working with actionscript for 1+ years.
4. Has access to Flash MX 2004 (exceptions may apply).
5. Has either AIM or IRC. (www.aim.com, www.mirc.com)

If you fit those credentials and want to help, you will be doing the following:

1. Interpretating our game ideas into a playable game.
2. Using our artists art to make the game.
3. Program the game via actionscript and make it a playable game.
4. There will be a 2 week deadline per game. (This will change for complex games, but this deadline applies to simple games like "Catch the apple and feed it to the monster in 60 sec.")

Preloader Help Wanted
I have a button in my main swf file that calls for a 2nd swf file to load into an empty mc (called holder). the code i'm using is:

on (release) {
loadMovie ("2nd.swf", "_root.holder");
}

pretty basic so far....
ok, the 2nd.swf file has a preloader which i know works...BUT it does not work when i try to load it via the button in the main.swf file. the preloader script seems to get ignored and the file just loads normally (without showing the preloader).

if i use level 1 (instead of targeting) it works ok but i need to place the 2nd.swf file onto a specific spot in the main.swf file, hence the reason for using targeting.

if you've understood all that , can anyone help???

I've checked it for potential errors a couple of times now; the bewildering result: THERE ARE NONE. Still, when tested, the movie doesn't comply (see attached .fla). I'm not searching for workarounds but for a satisfying answer to what's going on...

Advice Wanted...
I am new to Macromedia products, and at the moment am just trying to canvas ideas as to what technology could be used for a project I wish to undertake. I am a Database developer, with particular experience in SQL Server, and Visual Studio.Net. I need to know whether it would be viable using Flash, to create a dynamic and graphical "Team Selection" application, whereby a number of users would be loaded from a sql database, into a list within the application, from which using a drag-drop mechanism, they can be dropped into pre-defined locations on a grphical organisation chart. Please Help Wanted For My Website Please
Hello everyone this is my first post here and i am here after help i own dreamweaver mx that was given to me a few years ago so i decided to play around with it and built my very first website its a dog bereavement website that helps so many people when there dog dies.
When it comes to building websites i will openly admit i am a complete armature but enjoy what i do and even more with the know that my website is helping people in there bereavement.
I also fully understand there are lots wrong with my website that you guys can probably notice straight away.
My visitors are growing daily and i need to ask this forum for help.
Please can i ask anyone to do a standard flash animated page for me in flash its just a poem called Rainbow Bridge its helps so many people when they are in bereavement with the loss of there pet.
This is the FLASH animation i did my self of the poem but very poorly done the text is below the animation.
Please excuse my own flash animation but this is why i am here for help.
The poem helps so many people when they are in bereavement.
If anyone can do a flash animation with this text inserted could i ask for a full screen animation page with a black background colour and if possible a few dogs pictures appearing and maybe an image of a rainbow and a few sounds and maybe some soothing music.
