Converting Existing Website To Flash
Is there an easy way to import my website into flash and make it a presentation? I want to put this onto a CD to use as a handout of sorts but I don't have any idea where to begin.

I could just put the HTML on the CD and be done with that but I'd like to try to do something a little more interesting.

Problem With Fullscreen Within An Existing Flash Website
Hello everyone
I have a flash website with a load of FLV's in it. Everything works absolutely great except i really want to have the full screen function down properly so all you do is click and up it comes. Now at the moment I have to open a new browser with an AS3 player in (easiest at the time) and then you click full screen. this is all fine except i need this to work for big business etc and there really picky and don't understand (most of the time) that this stuff is very difficult when your not an expert at it.

What i need to know is how to get this website

to get the FLV to play 550 x310 in its normal state then when i click full screen it just comes up because at the moment it goes all out of proportion and i have scaled the video and the player to the correct size as far as im aware. in fact when its not in a flash website it works fine. I have tried this in AS3 but its out of my league and iv faffed with it for so long it has all turned into one big mess.

Please could someone tell me how to get it to work properly, where i need to put the code etc. I kinda new with flash so the more detailed the better, if possible. If you need the .as files il happily send them over or paste sections of code in for you.

I have a Flip book component...i also have a asset cacher component that is supposed to load the flip book images to the users hard drive...i placed the asset cacher on the first page of the web site so when the user goes to view the flipbook the images are already cached and the book plays seemlessly...what would be the best wat to trigger the assest cacher...

Flash 8 And MX Co-existing
Hi

One quick question for any Macroserfs on here: can Flash 8 and Flash MX co-
exist peacefully on the same machine?

I ask because I have Captivate 1 and Flash 8 on my machine, and need to
export a Captivate movie to Flash MX format to pass to another developer.
Of course, when I try to do this in Captivate it tells me I can only do
this if I've Flash MX installed. The support database has a technote on
this (http://www.adobe.com/go/b332bfba) which advises how to export from
Captivate into Flash 8, but that's not what I'm after as the other
developer only has MX. (No, she's not going to cough up for an upgrade.)

So what I want to do is install Flash MX on my machine to live side by side
in perfect harmony with my copy of Flash 8, but I'm reluctant to do this
until I know that the MX installation isn't going to knacker my 8
installation. If they won't co-exist then I'll have to find a Flash-free
machine somewhere, install Captivate and Flash MX on that, then export the
Captivate movies, but that would be a time-consuming PITA.

Help With A Pre-Existing Flash Script...
I recently found this script on flashkit:

And have been trying to figure out where I can make one small change to it. It's an Audio Streaming script and it works great btw! Basically when it initially loads you can see it starts with CLASSiCAL in the drop down box and you can switch to DIGITAL to bring up a list of songs in each category.

What I'm trying to fix or alter, is when it loads up Classical is pre-selected (only because it's the first choice) but the songs aren't showing. You have to click the drop down box and re-click Classical before the songs show up. Does anyone know where in that script I can force it to bring up the playlist for the first item when it initially loads instead of having to reclick the first choice?

Flash And Existing Websites
Ok, I have been designing a flash version of my current website. The way I have it right now consists of an upper bar as a flash file, a middle table with an inline frame, and a lower bar that is flash. The lower bar is the nav bar that changes the pages within the inline frame. That works out fine, but I want to be able to make the middle section flash based, not an inline frame. My website is for 3D wallpapers, so I already have my gallery setup(in php). I was thinking about using a scrollpane to insert my pages into the flash document, but thus far I have only been able to figure out how to import other swf files into the scrollpane. So...my question is: Can I import html files into a scroll pane? If not, how can I import html files into a flash file to make it act like an inline frame?

If anyone can help me out, let me know!

Flash Load Php In Existing Window?
Can anyone tell me if it is possible with Flash to load a page with getURL into an existing window?
I know that with getURL you can use "_blank" and "_self" etcetera to open pages in a new window or the same window, but what i want to do is first open a popup window with specific features:

Next i want to load a php page into this new popup window, so that i can directly send it the variables and still have it open in a popup window. I tried using "phpopup" instead of "_blank" and some other configurations, but nothing seems to work. I know i could open the php page with the javascript function, but then i would have to work with cookies to get the variables from flash to the php page.

If anyone knows any way at all to directly call a php page from flash and have it open in a 500x200 popup window with no toolbars, i would be very grateful indeed...

Removing Certain Areas From Existing Flash
I've got a template I purchased that has a flash header in it.

The way I've designed the site the flash doesn't look right. There's about a half inch at the top I need to remove. This is for a new site we're creating, and I'm not very knowledgable with Flash. Just enough to be dangerous.

Load Flex Into Existing Flash
Hello,

I am brand new to Flex, so I desperately need your help!

I have an existing Flash file, written in Flash 8. When I open this file, it plays in Flash Player 9, the latest player I have installed on my machine.

This Flash file tries to dynamically load about.swf, a stub file created by the designer. It works.

I am a programmer, so I want to create my own about.swf in Flex 2 and then substitue the existing about.swf written in Flash with my about.swf written in Flex. The problem is that the existing Flash file just displays a blank when I try loading about.swf written in Flex.

Is there any way to load SWF file written in Flex 2 into an Flash file written in Flash 8?

Load An Existing .cfm Form In Flash
I have an existing HTML/CMF web site. Iâ€™m in the process of re-creating the site in Flash (look at my work in progress: http://totalscript.com/newsite/ts.html). The new site will be an all Flash site.

My exisiting HTML/CFM site has an online form entry application using ColdFusion. The ColdFusion pages displays information as well as accepts input data. I would like to keep these ColdFusion pages as is. Is there a way of loading these ColdFusion pages into a Flash movie, without opening another browser page (as in GetURL)?

Example:
1) Within the new Flash site, a user clicks a button to login
2) Staying within the Flash movie/site, the following page http://totalscript.com/signIn.cfm appears

In other words:
1) I would like to keep my existing ColdFusion pages to use within Flash
2) Display these ColdFusion pages within my flash movie.
3) Keep the ColdFusion functionality of displaying and entering data

Modifying Existing Flash File To Run From AS

I am on day two of learning flash. I am not trying to convert an old flash file and try and get it to be more dynamic by using ActionScript. Here is what I am trying to do:

Have objects from the library loaded onto the timeline using AS. I have given these objects an instance name via the linkage dialog box. What I am trying to do is create a variable to hold details of what button a user has pressed, then, create a function that acts upon this variable and outputs the relevent page. The variable will initially be set to home so that it can display the home menu, then change to store any section that a user navigates to. I think I need to create a callback for all the buttons, however, I thought the below code would initially display the home menu since the variable had initially been set to home, nothing displays, here is the code:

Editing An Existing Menu In Flash
Hi guys,

I downloaded some existing menu's. I tried to edit one of them, but when I save the flash en export it to a swf, than the whole menu becomes static.I couldn't press on the topics and it just loops ones.

I also tried to save the menu without editing the menu, to see if the problem lies with the saving. It also got static.

I use FlashMX2004

Could anybody perhaps tell me what to do?

Loading A Flash Movie Into An Existing Flash Screen
I would like to know how to call a flash movie into a window on an existing flash page, so that this movie does not have to be loaded with the initial flash page - as in the Font for Flash website advertised on this site. Also, I would like to know how to make it appear with a preloader with a percentage bar in it. I have Flash 5 and don't know very much about action scripts as yet.

Putting Existing Flash Intro Into New Flash Page?
I am completing a Flash website for my client. He wants me to put a flash intro he already has into the flash website I just completed for him.

I have never done this before. Can anyone give me any pointers? I don't have the original FLAs, just some SWFs.

Think the pages are different sizes. Here is the flash I did: My Work It's 775 wide by 478 High.

How would you handle this? I don't see why they would want to take a different looking interface and put it into this one. They should just let me take the voice over and make my own around it. Maybe I will suggest that.

Loading Existing HTML Document Into Flash
Hi all

I am building a tool for editing xml that configures various sites we have.

The sites are located as follows:

http://www.sitename.com/siteversion/siteconfig.xml

there is an html page at http://www.sitename.com/ with a <base href=""> tag in that points the user's browser at the correct folder for the current version.

I want to load the html page, parse out the base href tag and get the location of the current site version then load the xml file.

Is this possible? loadVars won't do it and an xml object won't load the html in either.

YouTube Videos In Existing Flash Movie Possible?
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the loadMovie command to load a .swf from YouTube?

For example, I have a flash website with a list of my videos on, but this flash menu simply links to HTML pages of my site with my YouTube videos embedded on them, as I find this keeps my sites bandwidth down (as i'm using YouTubes bandwidth not mine)

I want to have it all more self contained so the user doesnt have to be loading new windows and can just stick to the main page, with my main Flash movie, displaying on request YouTube videos.

Editing An Existing Flash Movie (swf Files)
In my new job role I inherited some existing Flash videos. In order to put them to use, I need to edit out parts. And maybe append 2 .swf files together. I do not have any of the original authoring data. Just the .swf files.

Is it possible to load these into Flash (or some other tool), edit them, and generate a new Flash video?

I can work with graphics and timeline keyframes but I'm generally clueless about scripting.

that I've prepared with 3 button instances in anticipation of loading either one of 2 photos or a video clip into a upper level

I am terrible with the loadmovie syntax, and have tried loading the photos with a onrelease load movie script but keep getting error reports.

I am also unclear as how best to unload the photos or video to get back to the lowest level timeline.

I have Flash 8.

I see you can load jpegs or .swf but t seems if I can learn to load .swfs I could then use the same load/unload solution to load either my photos (whcih I guess I would *embed* in a .swf) or the flash video (also as a .swf)

Hi, I am a front end web designer/developer and analyst...struggling with putting an accordian flash xml menu together. I have it done except I need to add a simple trademark symbol circle with r. I am struggling with how to do this since I am not savvy in actioncript. I assume the best way is to add it is with a CDATA child node, but do not know how or whatever is the best way to get this done since am on a tight deadline. Encapsulate Existing Asp/html Site Within Flash CS3...?
Hi guys,

I am trying to integrate an existing ASP/sql server driven site within an existing flash-only site.

I have used getURL in some places to grab bits and pieces but, ideally, I need to have a couple of areas within the flash site that will access the existing ASP that generates the dropdowns for searching etc. then pull the results into a separate 'frame'.

Is it possible to define an area within the flash movie that will enable me to directly retrieve and display the ASP generated HTML? I'm trying to avoid a whole interface re-write using flash components.

Help Needed On Modifying Existing Flash File
Hi, I've been asked to modify an existing Chart builder application done in Flash. It consists of placing icons on a chart. They want to be able to resize those icons (Small, Medium or Large). I've tried to adapt a script I've found that resets the right-click contextual menu but can get the instructions to speak to the icon.

Here's the link to a *.zip containing the source file (ChartBuilder.fla). I've put the menu on an icon called Icon HQ. The *.zip also contains another exemple of my right-click menu that work in a basic flash movie (MultiSize.fla), as an exemple:

Adding Frames To Existing Flash Intro
I am just learning flash 8. Any help on this will be most appreciated! I've labored with it for weeks now.

I have a pre-made flash intro. I have redone everything in the existing one. Now, I need to add more frames (I guess frames is the right word - I may mean Layers!). For example, it has frames saying "keyword 1", keyword 2", and "company slogan". I need to add several between "keyword 2" and "company slogan". My friend I'm doing the intro for to put on their website wants to add more sayings before the end of the intro.

If I need to upload what I have so far somewhere for you to see I will and I can also put my swf file somewhere for you to download if needed.

Logic In Flash For Checking Existing Users In DB
