Adding Stroke To Text In Flash MX 2004?
Is there any possible way to add a black stroke to the text in this .fla file so if it is placed on an image background, it can be seen?

Adding A Stroke To Thumbnails
Hello All!

I am attempting to create the Image Scroller (from the tutorial) but am having difficulty prepping my images. The thumbnails I want to use are .JPG files and it seems that I am unable to add a stroke to them in the "Over" button state. How do I work around this?

In the tutorial it appears as though some of the images are definitely non-vector graphics and I am curious to know how the stroke was added to them. My feeling is that there is something simple I am overlooking, but no matter what I try I cannot add a stroke to my thumbnails... Please Help!

Adding A Stroke After Drawing A Shape?
I drew a circle on the stage using the oval tool and the stroke was set to none so it does not have one. I now want to add a stroke to it, so I select the entire oval by dragging over it and choosing black for the stroke color, though it will not apply the stroke to the shape. What am I doing wrong?

Adding Stroke To Emptymovie Clips
Hey everyone,

I have a thumbnail gallery that creates an empty movie clip and puts another movie clip inside of it to load thumb nail images into. What I am trying to do is add a Stroke around the first empty movie clip to give it a thin border. The first movie clip is 75x75 and the thumbs are centered in it at 70x70.

I haven't been able to find any info on dynamic strokes. It doesnt look like its an easy solution. anyone have any ideas or other solutions?

Flash Text Stroke
Does anyone know if there is an easy way to create a stroke for text just as you would create a rectangle with a fill of one color and a stroke with a differant color as well? The only way I know of is to create two seperate shapes sending one to the back and the other forward and to scale, but this does not proportionially create the stroke as it should be.

Flash MX - Dynamic Text With Color Stroke
Using Flash MX, I am looking for an actionscript / flash option that will let me set the text color and then set a second color for a text stroke. Nike has done it on there site with what they call their uniform builder URL You can view there text by selecting the "Test Drive" option. I am trying to mimic how they do their 2 color text but am not having much luck. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do it??? Here is an example of what I am trying to do URL

What Happens With Text Stroke?
It feels a bit strange to post this message, cause I'm actually working with quite an advanced project (though I'm myself quite new to Flash I know Visual Basic, C++ and all of Adobe, so it's not really a problem of finding were things are).
My big problem is that Flash doesn't let me apply a stroke to text boxes! (or any kind of text for that matter). Why is that? May it be a bug in the program or am I being really blind (I hope it's this last, faster to solve). It doesn't help that I break apart the text or change the kind of stroke or the color or whatever, it just won't let me. It's pretty obvious that I'm doing it wrong, so could anybody give me a brief but detailed description of how to create a text with stroke that works for them, so I can try it myself exactly the same way? Thanks and sorry for bothering.

Can You Take A Shape Without A Stroke And Give It A Stroke?
I have some shapes that I'm exporting from Illustrator. In Flash, the stroke around the shape is not a stroke at all, but becomes its own shape. For simplicity's sake, I would like each shape to be a fill and a stroke, instead of two grouped fills. Is there any way to apply a stroke to the fill of the imported shape?

I know I can't put stroke on text but is there a way to fake it ?

I can't break apart as it will be dynamic text. I tried with the glow effect but even with the strengh set to 1000% there is a blur. I would like it clean, no blur.

Stroke Dynamic Text
I am trying to figure out a way to stroke dynamic text. I know that flash does not have a built in ability to stroke text, so I am trying to do it in a round-about way.

The only I way I know of to stroke text is to break it apart and then apply a stroke with the ink bottle.

Are there any actionscript commands to break apart text. Are there any actionscripts commands to apply the ink bottle to objects on the stage at runtime?

If not, does anybody know a different way to stroke dynamic text?

Apply A Stroke To Dynamic Text?
Go to the niketeam web site, select test drive, select a jersey style then click through "next step" six times, you should be at the page to apply an outline to the text on the jersey. If you go back one page you can select the font, if you go back two pages you can type in your team name.

With some help here I figured out the text on an arch and arc. I have no clue how they are stroking the text that appears to be dynamic, since you can go back and change your team name and the stroke around the text remains!

Any ideas?

Stroke Effect On Objects Or Text?
is it possible in flash to create a stroke around objects or text?

id be VERY interested in achieving this with dynamic text, but i don't think it's possible,

if not possible, im still interested in achieving a stroke effect around an object that isn't perfectly square or round. and no you can't just scale the object and put it behind, thats not a stroke.

and i dont mean a shadow, so please don't post saying "just copy the object, make it black and put it behind with an offset"

Dynamic Text Filled By Key Stroke

Adding Text Behind The Flash
Hi, I'm not a flash man so I'd get someone else to build the flash elements I need on my site but just need to know the following:

I would like a small flash area on the home page of the site to explain to new and existing users a little more about the company. I would also like this to be Search Engine friendly. So, can I also add text, maybe in the source code, that would say exactly what text is on the flash element so that it would get picked up by Search Engines?

I have managed to make a "writing text effect", and it is one of the layers over the one with the background transition in Flash MX. However, The text immediately disappears when the first image in the slideshow appears. What I want is a static text that stays there the whole time, like the example above. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

Stroke Quality In Flash
I did a Flash portfolio where i have these thumbnails icons (it is actually a square image with 1px stroke over it).

When I published the SWF, the thumbnails icons' stroke seems to be quite thick as compared to my original image.

I tried setting the JPEG settings to 100% but it doesn't change the stroke.

I have already done up the thumbnail image in Photoshop applying the 1px stroke on it then import to Flash.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix it? Seems ugly with that kind of unbalanced stroke around the thumbnails.

Adding Text From Dreamweaver Into Flash Animation?
Hello, I've got a big problem. I've just created a layout in flash with a frame/box that expands downwards to contain text when a button is clicked. I'm very new to flash so this took me ages. But the thing is, I want to be able to write the contents of the box in dreamweaver (or in any textbased program). This is because if I'd make the contents in flash, editing them will be much more difficult. Is there any way to insert a textbox or something into the flash frame so that I can write the text in dreamweaver? Or can anyone think of another way to make this work? If you have any ideas at all, please post them. It doesn't matter if it's difficult or easy to do, I'll take anything at all.

Adding Input Text To POST URL In Flash
Hi,
I have a simple query. I have been trying to teach myself Flash / Actionscript and need some help.

I am trying to add a mailing-list registration page to a flash site, and i am having problems tagging the 'input text' onto the end of the URL.

Th steps i have taken are:

1. Made an input text box with the instance name 'email'.
2. Added the following actionscript to the submit button:

url="http://ui.constantcontact.com/d.jsp?name=ccoptin&m=MYNUMBER&p=oi&ea="+emailName;
getURL(url,"_blank","POST");
}

The URL variables work to access the 'Constant Contact' registration page, but it will not tag on the input text at the end. If I add an email address to the actual URL in the code, it works just fine. I just need to pick up the input text.

Have i made a simple mistake?

Flash Stroke Styles Dynamically ?
The following will draw a line from (0, 0) to (100, 100). The line will be black, have a width of 1 pixel and 100% alpha

Strange Issue With Stroke In Flash
I adjusted my images in photoshop with a 1 pt. stroke and they look fine as jpegs. When I import them into Flash they still look good untill the file is exported. Then the stroke from one site disappears and makes the overall look strange. What could be causing it? Thanks, Kinga
