Address URL In Browser.... Hide?
Hello,
Another quick question if I may. I'm using Dreamweaver to create a simple HTML site as an intro to my flash animation. Is there anyway
to link in Dreamweaver so that the address does not appear in the address URL bar on Explorer? Currently it is showing ...intro.html then ...flash.html etc as the user clicks around. I don't mind it showing the main url, just not the pages the user links too.
Any suggestion most welcome!

How do I hide my email address from spambots using perhaps Javascript?
I want to put in a button with my email on in within my swf. which when clicked on brings up an email page (which I can do!) but then I don't know how to hide it from deviant sources. I've tried fiddling around in the html but I don't quite get it.

This is very serious question & issue. Common problem is that web spiders or whatever – are frequently stealing email addresses that I put in my PHP forms. Is there any solution for this problem, some special coding, using CGI technology or something like that?

I'm trying to create a customisable ecard. I know I need to have info in the url so the swf knows what MCs to attach and where to put them, but how do I get the url in the browsers address bar into a variable?

URL Is Repeated In Browser Address Bar
Link works to target nicely when I click on the link in the .swf file. When I embed the same .swf in Dreamweaver, however I get the URL repeated in the address bar ...something like http://www.science-ed.com/ch1/activi...y1b/index.html

How is it going? How can i get a Icon on the addressbar and on the Bookmarks.
If you bookmark some pages, some of them leave a icon in front of the bookmark .. stuff like logo or so..also on the addressbar in the brwoser... can somebody explain me how to do that?

Code To Get Rid Of Address Bar In Browser
Hello everyone!
I need help! I know they is a line of code in Flash to make the adress bar disapear when you call a pop up window (we browser).
All I want is when I call my html from my flash movie, it opens in a pop up window (web browser) and in this window there is no adress bar and no buttons without using Java script inside the HTML.
Anybody can help me?

i no its not exactly a flash question but this problem has resulted from another string i started last week, does anyone know hat to make a browser window without an address bar in it? can it be done in dreamweaver or would it have to be scripted with something like java?

I can't get firefox to display icons like flash kit, or yahoo in the address bar.
I got it to work in internet explorer and safari with the .ico file format
does anyone know how firefox reads the address bar icon, or what type of file it has to be?
does this have to be done in HTML?

Looking For A Way To Get The URL That The Browser Shows In The Address Bar
I have a swf file that is loaded from an html file. I'm looking for a way to make sure that this swf file will redirect to its html file if it gets loaded on its own. For example:
I want it to play from http:\ www . myflashgame . com myflashgame . html
not http:\ www . myflashgame . com myflashgame . swf
I understand that _root._url will give me the link to the SWF file (AS1 &2) and loaderInfo.loaderURL gives me that same swf link in AS3.
I've seen something where use of javascript can get the address I'm looking for, but I have absolutely no clue how to use it.
If anyone could help me write the code that would find me the true URL address from the browser address bar, and have it placed into a text box on the stage, that would be GLORIOUS.

Hi, I started this question in the CS3 thread, not knowing how HORRIBLY different AS1, 2, and 3 are from each other. The link to what I've gotten so far is here:

As for what I'm trying to get, is an AS1 way to get the address of the file that is LOADING the SWF file (like mygame.html), not the address to the SWF file itself (which is what _root._url gives you).
Anyone know how to pull this off in AS1?

Query Browser Address Bar

I have a question regarding a flash movie on my site (movie.swf), the search engines have indexed this file. When clicked and viewed the clients browser plays the movie, is there anyway that I can detect from the movie that it is being played outside the html page (that contains my navigation and site branding etc) and then redirect the browser address to the page.html rather than the movie.swf.

Flash & Browser Address Bar
I have noticed a couple of Flash sites that appear to updating the browser address bar when the user selects a link in the movie - using anchors. The page doesn't refresh, but the address changes so each section can be bookmarked. I know about named anchors, but thought they weren't well supported and these sites work in all browsers I've tested. These are particularly good because they don't refresh the page so you can animate transitions, reduce loads etc.

Anyone Know Why Javascript Appears On Browser Address Bar?
I'm using getURL("javascript:someFunction()");
occasionally, clients are seeing the javascript call appear on the url line (address) and the browser open to a blank page. In other words getURL() actually tried to get a URL rather than executing the Javascript. I think this is more a browser issue, than Flash, but has anyone seen this?
Anyone know why it might happen?

hi all, this is for flash 5 but i dont know if it should be in this forum... but i would like 2 know if this prob can be combated using actionscript so here goes >
i am designing a website using flash for everything. to enter the website u arrive at the start page where from all the following pages appear in a browser window with no attributes, ie. no address, nav bar etc. all nav is in the flash movies.
the prob...
if i go back to the start page (the page with all attributes present)
and click on the upsidedown triangle button(located in the address bar) to quick show previous addresses visited it lists all the pages in my site i viewed, this sux cause if i click on one of these it obviously will go to the right page but will not be in the browser window with no attributes.
scrollbars will be present and so on.
Is there anyway to block the browser from storing the other site URL's except for the start page from where the open browser is activated ???

Browser Title Bar-wrong Address
I have added a small movie playing in it’s own window as part of a larger Flash site. It’s works fine but the title bar is displaying the path of my ISP address info like: http://www3.sympatico.ca/billph/toon.html
I want it to just display the site URL.
I can’t figure out any publish settings that let you control this in the Flash publish window. I don’t have an HTML program as yet like GoLive or Deamweaver. Do I need one? Are there any free ones out there?
Any help /suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry for the super n00b questions
but I have 2 questions that I can not seem to find the answers to (I am sure I am entering the wrong search criteria as I know it is out there)
I am using Flash CS3 and AS 2.0 ( I am using a component that requires AS 2.0 so I can't use AS 3.0)
1) when publishing to the web a flash .swf how do I Make the swf file name invisible
ie my swiff is called welcome.swf and when I publish to the web I get www.yourname.com/welcome
I want it to just say www.yourname.com
is this something I can adjust in the .html file or is this a setting within flash.
2) I have a website that has a specific size (700x500) how do I get the web browser to auto-size to those dimensions once they load my
flash page. right now I have white space around my background image if my window is larger than 700x500.
and again is that a AS thing or a HTML thing.

I am having a pop up but would like to disable the browser stuff like: address, refresh, spotlight ect ect
I just want a pop up with out all those options. I have seen it done but can't figure out how to do it. Don't know if it's in the Flash script or the HTML code.

[AS2] Is It Possible To End Movie Or At Least Hide It In Browser When It's Done?
Because of SEO considerations I am trying to use flash as little as possible in my site.
I need it though for uploading files. I like to have an accurate progress bar and I find flash is great for this.
Anyway once my file is uploaded, successfully, I would like the flash to go away (either exit or hide itself) and reveal an "Add To Basket" button underneath which is written in HTML.
Failing that, is there a way to get flash to change a CSS style of an object so I could have my Add To basket button hidden and then made visible when the flash tell it?

Browser Detect To Hide A DIV Layer?
I am adding a transparent Flash window to an HTML page, so it appears that things are flying over the HTML page. (I'm NOT having a problem with this.)
Problem is that the transparent Flash only works in the following browsers:
Internet Explorer 3 or higher (Windows)
Internet Explorer 5.1 and 5.2 (Macintosh)
Netscape 7.0
Mozilla 1.0 or higher

So... I need a JavaScript that detects browsers and hides the DIV layer if the wrong browser is detected. I've found browser detection scripts, but can't figure how to modify them to hide a layer.
PROBLEM: I'm totally lame when it comes to scripting. Can some kind soul help me here? I'd be happy to send lots of great karma your way!

Mouse.hide Doesn't Hide Mouse
I am developing for a touchscreen and trying to hide the mouse cursor - completely.
But mouse.hide is not doing it's job.
I am trying to go to the Flash 5 standalone player format.
I created an actions layer in the main movie and just inserted the mouse.hide command into it but, alas, there is no hiding going on.
The windows cursors (win98) have all been given a blank icon
Which leaves flash only displaying a cursor (that stupid finger) when a button is pressed - the finger pops up and then instantly dissapears
But its ugly, and unnecessary for Touch Screen navigation

hi, i have a flash website and want to upload another flash page to the site, but have it located at another sub address. so lets say the main website is at "website.com", i want to upload something to website.com/animation.
i want to be able to access website.com/animation directly, without going to website.com first.
how do i publish this?

Is It Possible To Know What URL Address You Are On?
Pardon my ignorance, but is there a way to find out what URL the page is on? or am I missing a fundamental stop(); and something else?
I have a menu that I use in my htm documents for a web site to navigate through it. When a page is selected, an animation is played and it graphically indicates the new page being viewed.
The problem I have is that as soon as the page loads, the movie plays from the begining as the swf gets loaded again. I have tried a stop(); at the first frame, but then the movie doesn't go to the frame where it is supposed to graphically indicate what page the user is on.
My tought is that if I can somehow read the URL I am on, then on my first page I can do some if statements to take me to the frame for each particular page so the user has the right graphical display.

Is there a way to get the IP Address (from within the movie) of the machine the Flash Movie is playing on?
Here's the scenario: I have multiple Flash Movies playing on remote machines, and each one has to validate against a SocketServer I have running on the Server from which the movies where downloaded from. Now the validation "UserName" has to be the IP Address.
I need to send this IP to the SocketServer so it (The Server) can look up each machine on a DB.
As always, I'll appreciate any help.

I have only just started using flash/dreamweaver....... I have made up a contact form in flash that posts to a CGI script. On the form itself I want to display the users IP address, this is to stop people abusing the form.
I have no problem using something like shtml to get the ip but I do not know how to pass that variable into flash or if there is an easier way just using action script itself
