Real simple explanation for a complex answer or maybe not.

I have a main movie which I load exteral swf files into.

Picture a box, and in the box I load exterswf files into.

I want to attach - the script to a button the external file. On the button when pressed I want it to unload itself from the main movie.

Advance Load Movie Trouble ... And I Mean Advance
What i need to do is load a movie into another and position it perfectly... big deal huh ! well the problem is that say the main movie is the container which has the dimention of 100 x 100 but it will be changed in the hard coded object tag say might written as 300 x 300 in the html. The need for this cause i want to load a movie with the dimention of 300 x 300 into the container. Ofcourse the loaded movie will distore but that can be fixed with the

fscommand(allowscale,false)

i guess.Anyway .. i manage to positioned the loadded movie in the 0,0 loaction as long as the container movie has the dimention written more than it's original one. ( ie. more than 100 x 100 ) ..

but when i go bellow the original dimention ... everything stop working including that fscommand.

I hav attached the files with this post if any one cares to take a look on this matter. Hope my post/problem was clear to understand.

i set a variable in the main movie time line like this

inside a movie clip i need to check what that variable in the main movie is set to like this

}

please i can't find it anywhere and i need an answer ASAP

How do i get a movie clip to advance or reverse frames depending apoun where the mouse is(left of center or right of center). Kinda like a panoramic picture thing, but not.

i know how to do this, but i forgot. ok, well, i have this movie, and i want it to stop on certain frames, so i just put a stop action in the frame where i want it to stop right? ok, heres my question. i want the movie to advance to the next frame and start playing once i push enter. i tried putting a transparent movie clip in the scene and giving it the action

onClipEvent (keydown);
goto (nextframe)

or something like that, but it didnt work. i havent done this in a while, and i forgot. sorry to bore you. i need this soon.

Can't Get Playhead To Advance
I started a new fla by using FILE>New From Template>Presentation>Presentation 1. The template works just fine and is quite suitable for my needs. I created an swf that I used in another project as an introduction to this presentation. I inserted it as slide 1 but after the swf plays, it won't advance to slide 2 where the main presentation begins.Any help would be appreciated. Can't find a related problem in the forum.

B4 i used a simple preloader I tried to implement an advance preloader to load up the Flash site. The problem was that when I used the advance preloader the following problems occured:

1, The scrolling navigational menu stopped working.

2,When debugging code, the scripts in both the adv preloader and nav menu were correct.

The navigational menu placed on the stage through actionscriping on layer 1 and layer 2.

Can SOMEBODY PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME, AS HELP IS ALL I NEED AT THIS STAGE.

Btw , the preloader i used b4 i used the simple preloader is the preloader shown in my intro movie.

hi, i want to show bits and pieces of an image until the whole image appears. how do i do it without having to put my image on multiple layers and using one mask per image layer. this will make my file size too large.

how come i can't mask a layer using a movie clip that has many layers with motion tween on it?

Hi

I have created a simple dropdown menu in flash and i need to use it in a map of countries also created in flash.

The map holds 51 countries. If the user is scrolling on a country, the menu for that country would appear directly next to the mouse pointer position. The menu is the same for all countries.

For example, a user needs to search Canada. user would scroll on Canada, the menu appears and he selects the "search" menu item.

I have attached a smaller version of the map and the menu i need to use. I dont know whats the most effective way to make this work and secondly also if the menu needs to be dynamic because I have alot of countries to work with. really stuck

Any help would be truly appriciated..

I have over 8 buttons in a list.

With only 4 visible at a time.

I would like to scroll those buttons much like you would scroll a text field.

Anyone has any idea of how to accomplish this task.

Ok... so I am creating a site.
I want each section to load seperatly when I click a button.

I have a BASIC understanding for this.
All the content sections should be sperate SWF files that are the same size as the original. And all the content should appear inside the area that the stage it needs to be on is in the original. But further than that I have no idea how to make this happen.

Can someone give me a quick explination?

Hi guys,

i know how to advance a movies frame head by nextframe and prevframe via a button.
Problem is that i need to take the mouse off the button and place in back on every time i want the frame head to advance or retreat.
How do i script a button that once i'm over a button the frame head keeps on advancing until i move the mouse off the button.
I'm sure there is a easy way of doing it but me not know how.

Advance Pre-loader. Please Help
Guys I need some help with something. I am having an issue with a preloader. I have a main flash movie that I would like to load several external .swf files into the main flash movie.

It works, but not the way I would like it to.

The Problem:

When I click the button that has the script to load the external movie: It shows a white area where the external .swf file will fill or be loaded. (I hate it)

How can I avoid this. It mainly happens on a slower connection.

I looked at 2advanced web site and I notice that there external files load without any white spaces being showed. It's like an animation plays and then turns into the pre loader.

Can anybody help me. PLEASE PLEASE..

ok...so I need to have my movie advance to the next .jpg dynamically loaded. I have a movie clip where the jpg's are loaded to.
My script is as follows:

I would like to have a previous button, and also have a loop, so that when the movie reaches the last picture in the file, it goes back to the first. (the folder is set up so that the client can load images as img1, img2, etc...)

Think of a story book - at the end of each page you have to click next page - is there a way to have that as a option but also hit say the "A" key on the keyboard, at the beginning of the program and it will just advance automatically when the VO runs out?

I can do one or the other, but cant make it work with the "A" as a option.

Any help would be great.

Ok I apologise in advance for my sheer uselessness. I've been reading tons of flash books but I can't seem to get my head around a few things. If you could please help I'd be very grateful.

I have 7 buttons on seperate layers: b_monday, b_tuesday, b_wednesday etc

which I want to lead to 7 other movie clips on seperate layers which are: mc_monday, mc_tuesday etc

But I only want the corresponding movie activated by on the event onpress for that button.

I attached this code to the b_monday button

And so on and so on for each of the buttons. But when I watch the flash program all of the movie clips and layers play together. I understand that I need to stop this. Does that mean I use stop() at the beginning of each of the the movie clips so they don't play when test the movie?

I'm sorry I probably should be reading the help files right now and I'm probably using too many layers and going around things in an arse about way. But if you could help I'd really appreciate it.

I am still working on this gallery, and I'd like to know what the simplest coding would be for advancing frames in a 20-frame movie, rather than adding this actionscript for each individual frame:

stop();

backBtn.onRelease = function() {
gotoAndPlay(+1);

};

This code doesn't seem to advance more than one frame, I'm confused, should I have some sort of tween so the button action is carried through each frame?

Also, what's the best way to open a larger image in the movie after clicking on a thumb? I know ho to do it in html/js, but not sure how in AS.

Advance MC Frames
Just a quick Q, hopefully not too complicated; what would be a code to make an MC (on a looped animation inside) advance x amount of frames while the cursor is moused over a button.

Also , is it possible to do something like this?: (more complicated)

An MC is on a looped circular animation, like a wheel turning constantly. When you click on a button, it speeds up each time you click - so theoretically if you click 20 times it'll be a blur, but when you stop clicking it gradually drops in speed until it's regular speed again.

Any help would be appreciated!

But I can't find the right settings, ofcause i can make it fade, but if you look at the site, the cool effect is, that there is some kind of color boost ind the fade.

Preloading Way In Advance
hey, hoping somebody can help me out. I've got a movie that contains a gallery as one of the areas. I am looking to preload the images in that gallery during the time that the user is entering into the site, maybe looking at another area, or if need be still loading when they get into that gallery. My question is how do i start the preloading if that section of the movie (that area of the timeline) if the playhead is not yet at that section of the movie?

I have the movie set up as a single frame movie for the most part but some of the sections have multiple areas and therefore the area in which the gallery is is not "active" yet so i can't preload into that area or can I? For instance when I setup a variable for a MovieClip path i can't target it if it's not on the stage correct? so how do i preload to it in advance?

All the preloaders i come across are for galleries that are on the stage at that point...

okay, i'm feeling very foolish here . . . i used to use flash pretty regularly, but haven't in almost 2 years. i'm now working on a project and trying to do the simplest of techniques -- a simple "back and forward one frame" action.

here's my script:

on (release) {
prevFrame();
}

but when i preview, nothing. is there some drastic change that's taken place between flash4 and 2004mx?

even this isn't working:

on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(10);
}

these are actionscripts applied to movieclips. can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Advance To Frames
I got a cheek little 10 frame movie clip named LOADER. This little loader will be on the first frame of the main time line, where obviously there will be a stop action and all that. Fine so far.

Now the kind of thing I'm looking for is this: I want do GetTotalBytes of the main movie (the whole website), and have each 10% of the bytes loaded advance the play head (of the mc LOADER). Is this possible.

I was thinking using GetTotalBytes to establish the movie size, then on the movieclip LOADER I would have TotalBytesLoaded (for every ten percent movie loaded)...

this.gotoandplay(corresponding frame number)

Would this be the best way though if not would love it if someone could teach my feeble brain how to do it.

I have a player that works great except, I don't know how to get it to play the next track automatically after the first is over.

Here is my AS on the first frame (showing how the music is played)

I've got a 3D kitchen done in Plasma, inported into flash, now I'm wanting the user to be able to rotate the movie left and right when they move the cursor across the screen. Is there a simple script that can do this?

Second thing I need:

2. A method to check OS of user. To know where to store Variable File.. Below is an example.. I just need the AS for it:

A CHALLENGE For The ADVANCE USERS
Hello everyone. I downloaded a set of buttons recently for Flash. Even tough, it is an open source, there is someting really messed up about them. Appearantly, it goes to the authors site, when you click on them. I wanted to use it for an offline and a non-commercial project, but I can't cause I want it to link to a FRAME NUMBER in flash and not a site. I don't know how, but somehow after some thinking, a found the WELL Hidden action in the file, which lead to the author's site, somewhere on geocities.com. I found this by enabling all the "Show" options in the Movie Explorer. Once I found the action, I wanted to change the "getURL" action in it, to a "goto" actions so I can interact with a FRAME NUMBER in my flash project. But I have spent the whole day, and I'm STILL unable to replace the "getURL" action with a "goto" action. There seems to be NO WAY to edit this code! Also, if you do you wanna try to give it a shot, remember, the frame(frame 5) which contains the "getURL" has other actions related to the animation, so ONLY REPLACE the "getURL" action with "goto". I have a table and inside the table i have a background image, the table has table datas (input fields) and it works great in explorer.. But i cant seem to get it too work in netscape.. In netscape 4.1 it puts the image in every table data, and in the latest v of NE it doesnt show the image at all. If anyone could help with how i should arrange this.. It would be very very useful.. How To Use Advance Frame From Within A Movieclip?
Can someone please help me out with this one?

Here's the situation:

I have 2 movieclips, each on its own layer. From within each MC, at different frames in the timeline, I'm trying to advance thru the main timeline but I can' do it!

This is what I've tried using:

_root.nextFrame();
_root.gotoAndStop(n);
nextFrame();

After debugging, I've figured out that having just one MC allows the script to work, however having both MC's prevents the other from working. Does anyone have a clue, cuz I sure don't?

Here's the actionscript for MC1, on Layer 2, Frame 1:

Advance Loading Problem
Hello,
I have file which is for 600 kb and i don't want to split up this file in 3-4 files for external swf loading. I want some 200 kb should be load first and then , when user will click on link, each movie clip of that link should be load.

Once again, no External swf file loading please.

Advance Loading Of Movies
I have a main movie that loads other movies in (movies 1 - 15). Buttons next and back allow you to navigate through these movies.

I'm trying to figure out the best way of having it so that when movie 1 is loaded and playing, the other movies load in the background.. and continue to load when next/back is clicked. (kind of an advance loading system)

Also, I want to eliminate the 'flashing' that occurs when the 'next' button is clicked to open the next movie.

Anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone know where to get an html generated <-- javascript that makes an image go from dark to normal?

I have an image, but its pretty big and I want it to start off with like 80% black opacity (javascript, css?) and when someone rolls over it, it turns to 0% opacity, or the original image.

I cant use another image for rollover because the image is too big.
