I'm creating animated gifs using flash. However, once
the file has been published and I view in a browser the images look very fuzzy. I've tried everything I can think of in the publish settings, but nothing works to smooth out the images.

Any suggestions???

Hi!

I created a little animation in Flash and I would like to make it an animated gif. I went to the tutorials section and found the following:

1. Create any animation you like in flash
2. Goto 'File' 'Save as'
3. A Save As dialog box will appear. Now click on the drop down menu next to the word 'Save as type' and select 'Animated gif'
4. Press the 'save' button.

Now, my problem is...when I go to 'File' 'Save As', my only options are to save it as an FLA for MX or 5.

Why would this be?

I am new to this place. I have a problem. I import an animated gif. I want to resize it, but I want it to be exactly the same size in each frame. Is there a way to resize the gif without going to each one and resizing it manually hoping it's the same?

Hi. I use Flash to create animated GIF banner ads. I exparamented using some of the new filters in F8 to export as a GIF. When its a static gif, it works fine, but when its animated, it doesnt work (attached is a sample). Is there an option somewhere in publish settigns that I'm missing? any ideas? Also attached is a SWF of what it is supposed to look like.

Animated Gifs Look Like Poop
Playing with the animated gifs and they are all coming out looking grainy and pixelated when I export them via flash. Even when I import a gif that looks great from photoshop and then export it again as another gif from flash it looks like crap.

I've played with all my export settings and nothing really appears to be working for me.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Importing Animated Gifs
Hi everyone. This is such a newbie question. I'm trying to import an animated gif into MX. It imports it as a sequence of frames, but it always imports it where I don't want it. Is there any way to move all of the frames to where I want it? I know I can move each frame, but there has to be an easier way to move all of the images to where I want it right?

I've got a movie with a mask that reveals some text - but I need to export this as an animated GIF. The GIF seems to ignore the mask.

I am right in concluding that animated gifs are not compatible with masks? or is there a solution......

whenever i make an animation in flash and export it to gif, it goes extremely slow no matter how many times i change the framerate. how do i make the framerate be the actual one i set? everything comes out horrible and slow

I'm new at Flash... I've been trying tutorials and I'm reading a book (hi, btw) to learn as much as I can about it...

I made this signature for a halloween themed signature contest... i published it and I'm trying to use Magic SWF to GIF converter to convert it to an animated gif.... but when I do, everything that I converted to a symbol disappears... i've also tried just exporting it as an animated gif, which gives poor quality results, but then it doesn't quite work right... This happens all the time when I try to do this... I don't know why or if there's a way around it... can someone enlighten me?

Display Animated Gifs In A Swf
Hi all,

I am a bit of an AS2 newbie. I have a project that loads and displays a remote swf using MovieClipLoader. It can also load and display a remote gif. However, if the gif is an animated-gif, it only displays the first frame of the gif. How can I display all the frames in an animated gif?

I'm using Eclipse and FAME to write and compile my AS2 code, not FlashMX or any Adobe or Macromedia Flash authoring tool.

Moving Animated GIFs
I import an animated GIF into flash 8. i want to change it's location on the screen, but then i need to move it frame by frame. I tried importing it into a movie clip, but when i drag the movie clip on, only 1 keyframe is on the timeline, so there's no animation.

I am using Flash CS3 and i am experiancing some weird problems. i have created a number of animated gifs with Photoshop CS3 but whenever i import them to Flash it takes the second to last frame, duplicates it, then puts it behind the last frame. now when i try to select it to remove it the 2 are 1. So i cant. Has anyone else had this problem? if so what did you do to fix it?

Hi all,
I am currently redesigning a website for someone, but they are not too keen on the use of Flash. This includes external company banners, as well as nav etc on their own site.

Except for the nav side of things, is there anyway that a Flash banner can be automatically replaced by an animated gif, if the user does not have the Flash player.

I am looking for a way that this can be done without A) The user being redirected to a pure HTML version of the site, as it is not a full Flash site to begin with , and B) without the user getting prompted to download Flash Player.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated . . . . .

Quality Of Animated GIFs
Is there anyway to increase the quality of animated GIF's that are exported from Flash? As of now, they come out very grainy. However, I would like to use the transitions that Flash is capable of but it has to be in GIF format. (This is a banner ad that will be submitted to a site that does not accept .swf)

Using Gotoandplay On Animated Gifs
I am trying to use gotoandplay on an animated gif (made in Fireworks containing two scenes), but it does not work when I click on it with the mouse. It does, however, change scene when hitting the enter key (do not know if that indicates anything??)

I have used the following syntax

on (Release) {
gotoAndPlay ('presentation', '1');
}

It works on a non-animated button/gif so I assume it has something to do with the animation??

Hello. I need to know how to use an entire animated gif as if it were a symbol, in order to make it move around without ending up using only the first frame of the gif. I've been trying to figure it out several times, but I can't seem to get it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I try to stay away from animated gifs of a couple of reasons: First of all should the animation be done within Flash vectors. Besides that I feel they take a fairly amount of space and they are more or less clumsy to work with, even as MC´s.

As I am relatively new to Flash, I should appreciate other people’s opinions on this. Thanx!

Stopping Animated Gifs From Looping
Hello all! I have been making progress on my game, but have found a minor glitch and i don't know how to fix it. When the shell (object) collides with the ground, have an attach movie statement. The animation plays perfectly, but it continues to loop constantly, until you quit the movie and start over again. How can you make it so it plays through once and then disappears? Any help would be appriciated!

I'm having trouble with an imported animated gif. As long as it stays in one place, the animation plays just fine, but if I move its location and size via a motion tween, the movement and resizing works fine but the gif animation freezes. Any suggestions on how I can keep the gif's animation going while it's being moved and resized? I'm using MX 2004. Thanks in advance for any help!

Is there any way to get animated gifs to display more than one "layer" of movie clips inside of flash? I mean, the only things that are animated are the things on the 1st level of timelines.

Making Animated .gifs (for Banners)
i'm making these banners for a band and i'm having trouble keeping the quality of the pictures the same as the original pictures...

here's what i'm doing:
In photoshop i make the different scenes then save them as high-quality .jpegs

then once finished with them there, i import the jpegs that i want sequenced in the library in flash mx and once i add them into the timeline and import it as an animated .gif

once i do that it looks grainy and the color is weird. any suggestions or better ways to do this? thanks in advance

Problems Importing Animated Gifs
Hi,

I've created a flash banner type thing that displays images on a timed interval. The images that are displayed are stored in an SQL database and an ASP script passes the imagepaths (as well as a few other things) as variables into flash.

I then load each image into an empty movie clip and this creates my dynamically updateable flash banner thing.

I've managed to get this all working fine when the images that have been uploaded to the database are JPEGs. However, when I try to use Gifs (and more importantly animated gifs) it doesn't seem to work.

Does flash not support dynamically loading animated GIFs or is there something I'm missing? Is there anyway to load an animated gif into an SWF by using an ASP script?

If someone could advice me either way or point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

Animated Gifs Are Grainy Problem
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make my animated gifs look great from flash. I have exported the layered psd files as pngs, jogs, gifs, bitmaps, you name, I have done it, BUT to no avail. Someone please help me, why can't the websites just plug in my .swf files, they look awesome, yeah a little larger. I would design in another program, but the client needs each frame to click to a different URL. What am I doing wrong? It looks like a color issue?

I currently have a flash header that calls a PHP script which pulls banner information to display inside of the header. I recently added animated GIFs to the list of images it can pull and have noticed that the images are displayed in the header, but are not animated; the first frame of the banner is displayed, but that is it. Is there something specific I need to do in order to import an animated GIF dynamically?

I have been trying to create high quality animated gifs with flash mx. I cant use and gradients or bitmaps because they end up being all messed up.

But, On the web i see all sorts of animated gifs with full gradients and photos.

Can i do this with Flash, if so, what settings should i use........... or should i use different software for this. ( i am a macintosh user)

I'm just setting up keyframes that show pictures that will change. No alpha layer stuff, just a straight swap.

For whatever reason, after i export, the quality goes down the toilet. I'm using mx2004. Animated gifs I've made in previous versions of flash have never seemed to do this. Any solutions?

Frame Doubling When Importing Animated Gifs
Hey guys!
It's time to help out your buddy from serverside. I'm putting some animated gifs into a flash movie. I have about 20 gifs that I need to put in there, but the problem is that when I put some of them in there the frames of some are doubled. As in two frames appear in one frame and they're on top of each other. This happends randomly. One some gif's the effect happens, on others it doesn't. Here's an example:

See, on the first gif it doesn't happen but on the second gif there's this strange doubling. For reference, I've attached the second gif so you see how it should display.
Has anything like this happened to anyone yet?
The way I import them is I choose Insert -> New symbol and then I import the gif onto the stage. I'm using Flash 8.

Making Banner Ads In Flash - Exporting Animated Gifs
I have been trying to make an animated banner in flash to be exported as a gif, whenever I do, the quality is awful. I thought at first it was because I had too much going on i.e. too many gradients/colours etc, but as a test I drew a grey circle on white, exported that (256 colours, smooth selected) and even this does not have a smooth edge.

can anyone offer any ideas why flash is not capable of exporting a decent gif??
