I seen alot of them but they all focus on video stuff.

Training From Source: Source Files..
Thought I'd try here.. I have the FlashMX2004 actionscript training from the source book and my cd cracked.

I have't been able to find a location yet where I can download all the code.

It's more a lazy thing I guess, but I also like to have the 'correct' stuff before I mess with it.

Does anybody know where I can download the code from? Or, is there anyway a nice fat zip could be sent to me? (kelly@thumbslinger.com)

Interesting Text Effects. Tutorials?
I browsed around Flashkit looking for some type of introductory text effect I can use for my Flash game I'm working on. I stumbled across this but found it a bit difficult:

Flash Animation & Effects Tutorials.
So I just spent a good hour looking for FREE flash animation tutorials online and I had no luck at finding goodones. I just need to find tutorials that are not basic, because I m fairelly familiar with the Flash.

All I could find was the tutorials to Tween a circle and make a bouncy effect. I was something a bit more complicated with a bit nicer effects (Effects are what I need to learn the most), that are usable.

Effects Shown In Source But Not In Loaded Movie
Hi...

hope you people are fine.. i am really a newbie in flash... i am getting a strange problem... that is.. i have given effects on the text those effects are working in the source file (when i press enter in flash) but when i do Ctrl+Enter or i export a movie.. .those effects dont work.. and i get the plain text without any effects there...

Any help?

Fla Source Files
Hi all, new to the board, lovin it already though. I downloaded some of the fla souce files to try and get a hang of this flash. The spiral menus interest me the most... is there a way to edit these though, so they don't only say "option" where the buttons are, or are they unchangable for copyright reasons? when i input a flash file it clutters the source of my page so much. way too much clutter. can anybody tell me ways to put flash files in my pages without too much clutter in the source?

Parsing Fla Source Files

I checked other forums to see which one was appropriate for this kind of question. If this is not the correct forum, sorry.

I have several hundred fla files. I currently open them one at a time to check the accuracy of the url file paths in each file.

Is there a program that can parse the open source fla's and read the flash actionscript code wihtout opening the flash file?

Organizing Source Files
What is the best way to go about organizing your files for any particular project? Should you create separate folders for your .swf's, images, .fla's etc? Or for ease of referencing them when you add actions to buttons for example, should they all be in one main folder.

In theory I can see how it's easier to just have all your files in one main folder, but when you would go to look at the folder to find a particular file it could get very busy, very quickly without the organization that using folders could bring.

Comments/Suggestions?

Snow Effect Without The Mouse Effects Required [asdvanced Snow From Free Source]
Hi all.

Managed to find this really cool snow effect but trying to remove the mouse interaction, but in doing so the snow seems to stop or fade after five or ten seconds due to removing the mouse elements, however if they are in place without any hit with the mouse the snow still continues to fall regardless so in effect I need the snow to keep running without any effect from the mouse, here is the actionscript as below. Any help would be great.

How do you edit the source code of a fla file? I am trying to integrate flash games with vBulletin and this thread says you need to edit the soruce code of the file.

Importing Open Source Files
I've been using Flash for about a week now. To say that I'm new to this would be a massive understatement.

I have an assignment to do, which involves creating a website in Flash. As part of the website, I need to create a "timer" of sorts. It doesn't actually need to work... essentially, what I want is something which will allow me to click a "+" or "-" button to change the time through a 24 hour clock. I don't need it to start timing anything - I just need to allow the user to set a start time.

I came to this website browsing, and saw some great open source clocks and timers which can be adjusted to meet my purpose. The problem I'm having is in importing the timer I've chosen (which has three layers, if that's relevant) into my own Flash creation.

Can anyone give me a clue on how this is done, or maybe point me in the right direction to do it in some other way?

Photoshop CS Flash Source Files
Has anyone played around w/ editing the Photoshop CS source files that they posted for the Flash Galleries. I want to add a Back or Home option to the navigation, or at least a hyperlink. The source files are all actionscript and I don't even know where to begin.

Source Files For Flash Video
I'm a 3D Animator and our office has a Flash guy. Sometimes I need to give him videos that he puts in Flash for the web. None of us really know what the best video source file type is for the Flash guy to use, including him. He never really seems sure when I ask him.

Should I give him a JPG sequence? TGA sequence? MOV encoded with H264? AVI encoded with XVID? We're obviously looking for the best quality to file size ratio we can get.

More importantly, why do you feel that your suggestion is the best way to go? I ask this question because I'm looking for more than just personal preferences. I'm looking for the technically best solution.

NEED Source Code For Built-in AS Files
A few questions:

1. Flash ships with only intrinsic definitions for built-in classes, but no implementation source code (that I can find anyway). The claim apparently is that compiled bytecode implementations for these classes are built into the flash player, or at least built automatically into a .swf that you create in flash, correct?

2. Is the code for these files actually written in AS? Or do they cheat and use some other more powerful language and compile to the Flash bytecode?

3. If the code is actually written in AS, how would I get my hands on this code? I understand that it is frowned upon to actually CHANGE the intrinsic classes, and this is NOT what I want to do. I want to do the proper thing and extend a built-in object into my own custom version. The problem is that what I'm wanting to change requires that I understand a little bit more about the internal workings of one of these classes, rather than just doing the extension in a black-box kind of way.

So what do I do?

There is probably a simple answer to this, but i have tried a few things and they only half work!
I am making a website where the content is loaded in using transitions (see tut on this site!) Inside on of these preloading bits, i want another on. The problem is it automatically loads the original "profile" file rather than what i want it to. how do i get it to load something different?

Possible To Extract Source Files From My Swfs?
A little over a year ago, I suffered a hard drive failure. As it happens, some of my directoties were not archived/backed up. I have about a dozen swfs that need to be revised due to a client changing its name.

The swfs were loaded dynamically into a main move. I have tried to import them into a .fla to extract the images, etc., but seem unable to reverse-engineer the swfs. I'd hate to have to re-do all of that photoshop work, does any have any suggestions? (I'm using Flash 8/Actionscript 2).
