Install Arabic Language Support
I had made a website using flash mx 2004 and everything works perfect , but finaly i get flash 8 and made a small update on my website and re uploaded it to the internet ..
but I had surprised when I open the website on other than my pc to have a message telling me to install the arabic language support !! ( the message title is : language pack installation )

yes, my pc supports the arabic language but i didnt use any arabic language on my website and i wasnt having this problem when i was using flash mx 2004 ..

i wish that someone can help me to know the cause of this problem and fix it .

Problems With Displaying Arabic Language
There occurs a problem when creating external txt file with data in arabic language and in publishing it Flash Movie. It displays the font normally as unicode. I saved external txt file as *.utx format. But the proble is in following: arabic text must be displayed right-to-left. But in my movies it's displayed - left-to right.

Can anyone help me to solve the problem?

Flash Mx And Arabic
I'm trying to write arabic text (characters&numbers)in a dynamic text field in flash mx,
and read the value of these text fields from text file or xml file,
the problem is that the dynamic text field read the text as follow:
-numbers only : need to embed font.
-characters only : no embed font.
I want to display ARABIC CHARACTERS AND NUMBERS INTO THE SAME DYNAMIC TEXCT FIELD,without changing its properties.

[F8] Arabic With Flash
Hello All,
I'm using (a modified version of) Flaraby to show Arabic text in a Flash app. Well, I'm trying to use...
I get the correct string from the serverside script (or an equivalent one in AS) , the trace shows the correct string (reversed, of course) but when I put the text into a dynamic TF the letters don't join, the same as when using no script at all with embedded font, as if I got the wrong unicode characters.
Now, I need to have the font embedded, using device fonts is not an option.

I do not use an Arabic OS, if that matters.
If anyone bumped into such a situation and has a word of advice for me...

Arabic In Flash CS4
Ok - I'm running into the same barriers in Flash CS4 with not being able to work with Arabic as I have in the past. I thought this time there was going to be a solution? PLEASE let me know if there is something that I need to do to get Flash to cooperate with Arabic text. Having it appear backwards but then render correctly in run time will not do. It reeks havoc when working with the layout.

Dear Sir,
I cannot understand which is the difference between a scripting language(like actionscript or applescript) and a programming language (like java or C++).
I know that actionscript 2.0 is similar to javascipt. so it must be a scripting language.
but actionscipt 3.0 is most simmilar like java or C++.
so why it is still a scripting language?

Writting Arabic In Flash MX
Impossible apparently!

So far the story is....

Obviously I've change the setting in system pref>International to Arabic. U then have to use a unicode program like text edit to type the words out and then use screen shots which u then can paste into flash.

Is there another way?

Arabic In Flash CScs3

I have been trying to copy arabic text from a Word doc into Flash CS3 with no success. The text comes out broken and backwards looking.

I have scoured this Web site and the Internet for the past month looking for solutions that don't seem to work- or that cost money that I do not believe I need to spend (software).

I am hoping someone out there can point me towards a solution!

Using Arabic Langauge In Flash
Hello every one,

I have been using Flash5 and recently decided to make some arabic buttons in Flash.

I have installed Arabic scrips on my laptop. when I open Flash and type any English word its alright but as soon as I change the language to Arabic it does not support the letters because its left to right scrip and it types in a funny looking scrips.

I thought you might be able to help me ?
By the way, I am using Flash 5 on windows xp pro pack 2

I created a site that takes infromation from a form and sends it to a database. the english site works fine, however for the arabic site, when the arabic text is entered in the text field and then submitted to the database, it submits weird text in the database itself. does anybody know why it does this and if there is a way to resolve this issue?

Win98 Arabic Support & Flash Mx

i have a problem with flash mx dynamic txt box ( containing arabic ) and win 98 i have a project that is uploaded on net
it works all ok on win 2ooo , xp , 2000 server,
but with win 98 the dynamic txt fields doesnt appear correctly
what do u think?? , is it win 98 not supporting arabic? ,

is there any solution , like upgrading , loading some files......??

Hi there,

I would appreciate it if someone could shed a little light on the subject of displaying Farsi, Hindi and Arabic characters in Flash.

I know that through reading a text file (in flash MX) one can display unicode characters, and have got this working with the russian language, however, i can not get it to display the three aformentioned.

They will not even disply in my notepad, and am going crazy trying to figure out why this has happens.

Has anyone experienced the same problems?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just researching a project that is going to be translated into 9 langauges one of which is Arabic.

I have read a pdf from Macromedia declaring that the flash player 6 doesn't support the right to left text? has this been solved in flash player 7?

Any info on this subject is warmly welcome even if it's saying it can't be done but more info the better tho.

Help CSS Unicode (Arabic) Not Working Flash 8
Please help!

I have a crazy issue that I have hit my wit's end with. I have a .fla file with dynamic text boxes that I populate using an XML file. All the XML text is Arabic encoded in UTF-8. The text is only one word for each text box, so I am not concerned that BIDI is not supported. It works fine on Windows Flash Player 8 (the letters connected, reads right to left). On a Mac with OSX Flash Player 8, the text is reading correctly from right to left, BUT all of the letters are disconnected. Using only a text box (without CSS) set to Arial, configured to use device fonts, the text is connected again.

It is as if flash is not suing the correct font encoding for the Unicode fonts. Please help if you have any ideas!!! Thanks in advance!

you have tried so manytimes to write arabic in flash but you couldnt!

well here its:

1- you need another program that will help you write arabic even if you dont have an arabic window.

the best program for this is AL-RASSAM
its free and its a small program to download.

2-write anything in AL-RASSAM program then click on Edit>copy&min
3-go to flash then press CTRL+V

after that go and choose one of the font that came with AL-RASSAM.
4-go to flas menu : veiw>anitilis text

you are done...

next time i will explain more but i hope this help.

Flash Support For ARABIC FONTS (ligatures)
ok, i just spent some time learning how to develop my own font (using FontLab) because I want to create an Arabic font of my own for use with flash.
However, I just noticed that when I try and input characters into Flash 8's text box, the Open Type layout tables aren't supported. Is tehre something I can do to fix this?
To give you an example, Times New Roman has some characters that, when placed next to one another, from different characters, such as these:
با = ا + ب
notice that this text editor supports the change, since all i did to type the third one is place the first two characters next to one another.
I have tried this with every different type of font i know (including Times New Roman) and the characters will not merge...
is there ANY way of doing this?
So far, the only method i can think up is creating my own font with every possible character included (which is QUITE large since there are also diacratic marks) so that I can use the character map to create the proper string of characters that I want...
any help is appreciated.

i want to embed Arabic fonts dynamically in my Flash 8 movie.

Whats the solution ? While surfing the net, i came across lots of discussion regarding this, but no proper solution for it.

What i got is just to embed it, and to align the font to Right.

for this way, i got a reply that this wont work for large no of letters or characters.

can anyone guide me in this aspect to how to go about this, as i have to create a multi-language presentation which has got Arabic, hebrew and other non-western Character sets.

Arabic Support In Flash (Seems Buggy / Non Existant)

I'm trying to use Arabic characters. In the flash CS3 help under "Supported Character Sets" it does say Arabic is supported.
When selecting text or inserting spaced in text the flash player 9 appears very buggy. e.g. when selecting text the characters change as you select etc. If you try to insert spaces into it it just does not work. This is when using device fonts only. If you embed the text field it just simply does not display the correct characters at all.

Step 1:
Make new flash movie inflash CS3.

Step 2:
Make a large input field.

Step 3:
Paste a few characters into the field in the authoring environment. (My arabic string I am using is العربية ...

When I paste in with the authoring environment the characters completely change. (No idea why) If I set the field to not embed and export the string matches the original characters that I pasted (the correct characters)
If I do embed hte font. It comes out the same as the authoring environment (Wrong.. totally different characters.. (Althouth they do appear arabic))

So hence I believe there is a bug in flash players right-to-left languages. Whilst doing a lot of searching about this issue I notice many other people with the issue. Seems right-to-left languages are just not supported at all.

Can anyone please give me an indication on whether this is going to be fixed.. not fixed... fixed in the next version etc?

Language Help In Flash
My mp3 player doesn't display languages other than English correctly. They all come up in a "[]" box, (except more of a square, and a full box)

I've uploaded a song in swedish, and the title is swedish, so I want to type the title using the swedish characters: "å ä" ect, it doesn't work.
