Bag Of Rocks
Hi there!
I am really new to Flash MX and I am trying to make a little ..uh..thing..hehe
Here are the basics of what I am trying to do:
On the screen is a 'bag'.
On the bag are the words CLICK ME.
When user clicks on the bag, the words CLICK ME dissapear, and a random colored 'rock' pops out of the bag and is displayed at the top right.
While the rock is moving out of the bag, and tiny square with rounded edges appears on the right and then grows to a larger box.
(the random colored rock is either blue, black, green, purple, white, orange, or red)
Inside of the expanded square is the word-color of the rock.. so if he rock is blue, the word blue appears in that box,
There is a button at the bottom of that box that says AGAIN.
When it is clicked, the button dissapears, the square shrinks and dissapears again, the rock goes back into the back, and the whole thing is reset ready to do it all over again when user clicks the bag.
The BagTest.fla file I have attatched (I hope) has the bag, the rock, and some attempt at making the bag a button with movement animations and the rounded square thing..
I Think I have the basics down It just needs tweaking a little, but then again, I might have to start all over if I am doing it completely wrong..
Can anybody help me out with this?

Dumb As A Box Of Rocks
I am using a Flash plug-in for text effects (Mix-FX). Upon completion, they are saved as a *.swf
My question: How can I import each individual *.swf into one flash file? This is not for web creation. I'm trying to do an animated short.
Spell it out for me, please--I'm a major novice.

is there a library or something with more effects in it? im trying to do a cool blur effect but the regular blur in insert>timeline effects isn't doing it for me.

Still Think Director Rocks For CDRom Use
I swear, Flash is a mind bender. But I guess that is the case for a newbie like me. Anyway, I find it colse to imposible to start and stop a sound file that is an internal castmember. I see the "Stopallsounds" AS. Great! But I want to stop/start a particular sound. How difficult is it? Thanks!
Flash Encrypt 1.2 Rocks
A buddy of mine has something called Flash Encrypt by www.sintrix.com and its bad ***. I just got a copy. If you have SWF files, it encrypts them so that decomilers do not work on them. AND IT WORKS!
Just thought I would let ya all know about it in case you was looking for a way to protect your work.

A buddy of mine got me using this software called Flash Encrypt and it works! It encrypts SWF Flash files so that decompile software can not decompile your work.

Shared Objects Question (for The Hard Rocks)
I am building a large app in MX. I went to dynamically name a shared object variable and when flushed, it disappeared.
And no I did not actually place it in the root.
Actionscript follows:
set("_root.player_so.data.score"+_root.level+_root.lesson+_root.activity, scoreavg);
and before I close, the data shows up. After I close, it does not seem to want to flush properly...any ideas?
