New York Times Slideshow
Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial to make a scroll bar to control photo slideshows like the ones used in the New York Times multimedia projects? Here is an example of what I mean:

Some questions:
- Do you think the slideshow is an external movie that they load using loadmovie?

- Ideally the images would be loaded using XML for efficiency, but how would the scroll control the audio then?

Need To Know How To Code Clock For Tokyo & New York
Hi

I have a digital clock which displays the current uk time. I need to also display the current time in Tokyo and New York

Tokyo is +9 hours ahead and New York is -5 hours behind.

Here is my current code for the UK time:

Any Reason A Site Would Work On A Mac In Canada But Not On A Mac In New York ?
Hi,

I'm currently updating a website for a new york artist.
The site is at :

I'm using xml to load the image gallery.

I updated everything under ARTWORK except prints

Clicking on Faces should load thumbnails and mouse-over on these thumbnails should make the images appear on the left side of the side.

Clicking on thumbnails should load a window with the image blown up a bit with a close button.

I have the latest 15 inch core 2 duo macbok pro model and it works fine and I live in canada.

My client has the same exact computer and it didnt work at her house so she went to the apple store in NY to try it on other machines and it doesnt work there either.

Any reason that would be happening ?

The site is published in flash 7 and I also tried flash 8 to no avail.

Figuring Out Barney
hello i am building a navigation system like that of barney's. where clicking a button scrollls a large image to it's corresponding section.

the way i have it coded is where clicking on button 1, location of image is o, click on button 2 the location is 500....(the size of each image section is 500). then clicking on button 3 takes moves it to position 1500, etc.

what i want to know is what do i need to do so that when it lands on a section, it loads a movie.
so that as soon as its done scrolling over to a section , once it stops, a movie is loaded.

when you switch to Personages in the first menu it uses gotoAndPlay("Characters") there I want the second barney menu to come into play. Just look for Info2 in the Library...

I've tried a couple of things but they all ended up looking like S***

After reviewing this fla I sort of understand how everything works. Although I want to add images to the boxes instead of just having menu 1, menu 2, box1, box2. How do I alter the script to add images. Granted I am new at this and trying to something that most likely is very easy but I really need some help.

Has Anyone Seen A Vertical Barney's Menu
I am using a Barney's style menu on my current site(http://www.skylark64.com). I was able to get it to work in the resume section,

but...

I was only able to do this by creating a new keyfram with vertical actionscript. I have not been able to make the vert and horizontal work together in the same frame.

I would love to have some stuff come in vertically and some stuff horizontally, kind of converging on to the stage.

Please Help!!!

i need help making a barney menu that scrolls vertically. I used the horizontally scrolling one and changed the x and y values but there is now a gap between each menu how do i get rid of it? Sorry to be a pest.

I've been using the barney's style menu (courtesy of stickman) for awhile now, in a number of different ways... but for the first time I'm attempting to use it with MX 2004, exporting as Flash 7 and AS 2.0 and it just doesn't work. Anyone know why, and what needs to be changed to make it compatible?

it's like barney's, except that the movie clips don't scroll horizontally only. they scroll in different directions...up down left right. i know i've seen it before but can't for the life of me find it and i'm not sure what the proper name is for the actionscripting when i search the web. any input would be helpful!

Lost Within Barney's Navigation Scroll
I've searched through the .fla files on FlashKit and the past boards and I haven't found an answer to how to get my own labels on the box and menu items. I'm an actionscript newbie. I tried doing "if" statements so if boxName==box1, boxName=Intro, etc. but it didn't work. I eventually tried different things until the whole program didn't work.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to insert my own data into the scrolling thing? Or just explain how to get my own labels and background into this script? I'm currently using the Navneet Barney's script.

Loading Swfs Instead Of MC's Into Barney's Idea
Hello Forum people!

i'm currently working on a small flash site (about 6ish pages) and intend to use the Barney's Extension to load in the further pages so get the cool slide in effect.

I know that using the Barney's method is OK for adding Images, but i need this area to be interactive (i'm going to have extra content and a form too), hence putting these areas into separate swfs

Does anyone know if this is possible or should i try creating the effect from scratch using actionscript?

If i have to create it from scratch then i think i'll add the bounce effect to it.

if anyone has done a similar effect, could you impart some of your extensive knowledge, pretty please?

Problems With Barney Menu - Help Needed
I need to create a menu similar to http://www.barneys.com. This isn't a problem since I know how to do this.

My problem is that my scrolling images mc is very wide such that it comes to almost 5000 pixels. I have 10 images in the movie clip. Each image is 494 x 270 pixels. When I create the Barney menu, my first two images and the last one are messed up (sort of a blank colour). This only happens when I test the movie - at the design stage all the images are shown correctly.

Can anyone help? Is there anyway I can stop this corruption in the menu?

Barney Menu Cept W/o Buttons
Hi,
I been following the forms discussions about the barney menu and i like it. Was wondering if the menu can be controlled by a mouse over instead of a button? Example: moving the mouse to the left over the movieclip would move it towards the left and vice-versa for right.
I seen this on a few sites, but cant think of which one just now.

I want the barney menu (just as it did with "Verhaal" and "Personages") to go to a specific place in the movie when a specific button is rolled into the screen...
so when the user slide to eg. Gandalf I want the movie to go to the frame with label Gandalf and so on...

I've tried adding an If sttatement

but that only brings me to the targetx2 position of the last If statement...

Barney Style Scoll Navigation Not Importing Into Mc
Hey All

Have a look at a stack of the barney style navigation and can get them all working but when I go to import them as a external .swf into a movie they don't work.

I have been playing around with the navigaiton I found on

so hopefully ya'll know what a barney menu is if your reading this. I really need to know how to get the same menu to scroll in various directions according to the button being clicked. Ive ben able to mess with the properties to the point wher ei can get it to move up and down left and right and diagonal but never all those within the same menu. please help. thank you

I got this script that worked fine with older flashversions(4, 5 etc) but now I installed flashmxpro and the script doesnt work anymore. Id like some help from you guys who know actionscripting,, cause I really dont.
