I have a question about the smoothness of the scrolling images in the Bravia website: http://www.bravia-advert.com/

notice how the paint blobs move nicely without any distortion or funny visual effects? I'm just wondering how I can duplicate that. I'm using a high frame rate (like 40) but I still get a bit of skipping and a bit of noise around the edges of the images...

Smoothness Of A Site. Help Please.
In proffessional flash sites on the net, it seems that loading external SWFs in into different containers in turn (all are the visible on the stage) is indipendent of server capacity and speed. The flash site's main movie have the same smoothness every time. Is there any control on this they take care of? Any tricks or hints?

Flash Header In HTML Site
I have an html site and I have a header at the top with a little flash animation of the logo. poblem is, when the user clicks on a new page, the header reloads and the flash animation starts all over again, and again and again...you get the idea..it looks silly.

How can i make the flash load only once even though the header reloads each time the user goes to a new page?

LoadMovie Relativity (header For Site)
The goal is to have a header that i can include in different flash movies.

I have created a header that loads its contents from an xml file and then displays everything. _root.loadMovie("header.swf") will load the movie into another flash movie, but nothing else on the stage shows up, so i try to load it into a mc called nav, and it screws up all of the paths and nothing draws out correctly. what do i do about this problem? the relative paths in flash confuse me enough, so i don't think it would be possible for me to change the paths, unless someone has a little instruction there.

Flash Header With Database Driven Site
Hello all

I would like to use a flash header at the top of the page of a database driven website.

I am experienced with loading variables into flash from php pages by the method -
data_corporate2.load("http://192.168.1.204/forepoint2005/data_nextprev.php?level2=30");

but, as I would like to use the same flash header file on each and every page on the website this is no use.

If I am displaying the page 'content.php?pageId=33', which also displays the flash file is it possible to pass variables from the php page to the flash file?, similarly if I am displaying any other pageId is it possible to pass the variables?

What I would like to know is - Is it possible for the flash file to pull in the pageID (or any other variable) of the page that is being displayed upon.

Need Swish Header Template For Sports Site
Currently, I have a client that wants a Flash header for his basketball web site (I'm using Swish) and I'm just not able to get the results I need. Perhaps I need a few more tutorials,

My question, is there a place I can go to have someone create my header generically so I can go in and change certain things? Like a template just for headers, not an entire site.

Conecting Rest Of The Site In Flash Header
I have been almoust done with customizing monster tamplate but there is one thing left I have problems with. In flash header I have trouble inserting links of other pages of the site. I can do this by clicking on lbrary (macromedia mx) then find movie clip and paste link i want to connect. However problem is that these clips or whatever they are, have that mouse up affect, so visitor have to click exaclly on text to open new page. if it is not clicked on text (bit lower) brownser opens some junk page.

any ideas how to fix this?

Site Centering Problems With A Flash Header
Hi,
I have designed a site that uses a flash header as it's main design element. It's width is set to 100% and causes issues with it centering in IE at 1024*768. I have tried everything(overflow-x:hidden etc) but I cant get it to center at 1024*768, it's always left-aligned which causes issues as content to the right is getting cut off. I'm hoping I can fix it in the css as the client has already signed off on the design and I don't want to be repositioning elements . Any help would be amazing.

Flash Header STAYS In Dynamic Site
Hey all,
I wanted to build a site that included both flash and html. I wanted to create a flash header with the banner, graphics, navi and music; and have the rest of the site in HTML. But what I wanted to learn how to do is to just have the html part of the site change on the click of the buttons. I don?t want the flash to reload over and over again as we switch pages, so the music doesn?t have to start over and the animation docent have to reload all over again. If anyone can help in this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sound Loop On Flash Header In HTML Site
I'm developing a hybrid HTML-flash, where each page has an flash head, the rest is static HTML. This flash component contains a sound loop (actually, 3 tracks), with the option of stopping all sounds. Problem is, when I go to another HTML page, the sound loads right up again. Rather annoying for those who would rather keep the sound off. Is there a way, without resorting to page frames, to keep the sound off when going to another page?

How is it that sometimes designers can get the animations to be so freakin smooth. And Im not talking about only smooth on the fastest computers. Somehow they manage to make it their animations run very fluid. Any idea how to do this. I make all of my movies at 30 fps yet i dont seem to get the same kind of movement. Anyhelp would be great.

Smoothness Again.
First of all here is my small 128x128 fla:

Tank still moves a bit choppy although every graphics file is very very small. And they are converted to objects first. Nevertheless I just can't make objects move smooth. Not even when using fps of 50 for the duration of 2.5 seconds.

Here is the final result. Size should be set to 128x128. Observe how the black tank is choppy now and then:

Can anyone check out my fla and see what's going on? It must be some nitpicking detail but I can't figure it out. I've been troubled by this for a year now!

I am using flash 5 by the way. Some real help would be great by now. Fooling around with fps settings is not the answer, that's clear for me by now.

I am trying to create an effect in flash. Just for example: I am having two squares coming in from each side of my document.. but when I preview the movie, the squares seem choppy. Its not coming in smooth.. Is this dealing with my FPS or what?

but on the site they said it does not work with mx2004. And sure enough it does not (only works if used on _root timeline, weird)

Anyway, does anyone know if some of this is depricated and if so, how do I get this equation working again.

Struggling With Smoothness
Hi everyone!

I am working on a flash intro page for an architectural website (go to http://www.rbbinc.com/flashtest.html) which consists of three windows that cycle through several photos... you will notice that the upper right window has zoom-in / zoom outs of several photos, and I merely used a mask to get the effect.

The frustration i am facing is that, if you look closely (most noticable on pics 2-4), on several of the tweens in that particular window, the animation is quite jumpy, when all I did was enlarge (or shrink) the pics from one key frame to the next. Yet, I constantly notice that whenever i try to do this sort of effect, it has that earthquake shaking look to it.

The images involved are jpgs that are all under 200 KB, so I wouldn't think the size is an issue. I am far from being even an intermediate user of flash, so I certainly question my method... I imported the pic at the starting keyframe... converted to a symbol (movie clip), added the second key frame... enlarged (or shrunk, depending)... threw on the tween... then created a second layer above... created a stroke-less square, and turned the layer into a mask. Please let me know if I am making a wrong choice somewhere in my steps.

I have tested my method on several computers (pc and mac) and still get the same results... please let me know what I can do to get a much smoother animation... thanks to all that offer suggestion.

I Have A problem... i use flash MX 2004 and i am making a presentation for a very bic contracting company in my country.

Now i use some pictures made by me in photoshop 8 and saved as gif (to keep transparency) in my flash movie and i give these pictures some motions and aplha effect...

I use a fullscreen mode:

fscommand("fullscreen","true");

Than i export it as an EXE file and Also SWF file...
Now the problem is :

The motion of the pictures is not smooth. I mean that the whole movie runs perfectly instead when the pictures i made with photoshop appear, they move very slow and also alpha tweens or brightning twens...

I gave a look to the size of the pictures and i found that the bigger one does not ecceed 20 KB

Please Someone tell me how to make the movie smooth using other imported picture, becouse you know that flash is not so good in making graphics like photoshop ( there is no blur, shadow, emboss etc.)

Tweening Smoothness Help.
So I try to tween two objects text frames together, and it doesn't come out smooth enough, I moved the bar to 100, like i've seen in tutorials to make the transition smoother, but I still can't do it.

I'm in the middle of an animation dealing with this problem, so I hope the answer isn't more Fp/s.

I've got a problem with the smoothness of an animation in Flash MX 2004 when I put any frames in front of the frame with the animation. Even when I put a scene in front of the scene with the animation, the animation will tween very shaky.

i have a standard photoscroller movie embedded in my flash site.
the photoscroller is a small movie, which has been loaded into a movie clip in my flash movie.

Increasing Smoothness Of Animations
I'v had a quick browse through the recent pages, couldn't find anything relevant so thought it time to post

I'm working on a corporate webdesign for a day or so now, and so far the initial looks something like this: http://designs.thedriveris.com/tdi/

however, the animations i'v created seem to be running fairly choppy than i'm used to. i'm using the standard 24fps, and although increasing fps will force it to look smoother on a good comp, i feel this is the wrong way to go about it.

Any suggestions in making it run smoother? i have a feeling the 3d box is what's sucking up the framerate...

Also, check out the text which loads up in the company profile or product range and see how blurry it is because of anti-aliasing.. can i turn it off some way?? i don't need that.. the text is really bad with anti-aliasing!

Mp3 Buffering. Need To Improve Smoothness.
I made a simple mp3 player for use on my website, it is a movieclip with a frame for each track. I compressed the mp3's to 64kbs stereo. They are loaded externally and are streaming. They still load after say 20 secs then play for about 20 then stop. How can i make them buffer more smoothly or quicker. Can anyone help me out, it's quite urgent.

HELP - Smoothness Transitions & Timing

Am new here, this forums seems quite good. I am also fairly new to flash as I have only done about 4 splashes/intros so far using MX 2004 on a MAC.

I am doing a Flash 'Intro' for a client HolonicsNov 15-06.swf (Swf file attached with ImageShack toolbar File hosting?? I hope!) I seems to be having trouble attaching this file which is quite essential to this message - Hope it comes through!

This Flash is based on an 8-page brochure that I designed for them before starting the flash. They really liked the brochure.

First of all, the client/company wants this as an intro to their HTML site. They gave me a detailed story board. The contact/client is somewhat of a powerpoint power user so they do have some experience/sense here. After I started the flash, Not really knowing what was involved or how long it would take to show all the information they wanted to get across, they said they did not want it to excede 20 seconds. (Way too long for an intro) I suggested using the branding part at the end of the flash for an intro and using the whole flash as a movie inside their site-on their home page. They want it altogether at this stage. The client is now willing to add some time onto the movie to make it flow better and read better. They are trying tell their viewers things with the graphics coming together etc.

Here is the question:
Is there a way (through transitions etc) to make this flash more smooth - less choppy and more readable/understandable while keeping it at 20 seconds. I am mostly using tweening with alpha dissolves etc. and overlaping things as much as possible. Being relatively new at this I feel that adding time is the only way to fix this. What do you think? I've lost my objectivity!

The client 'seems' to be hinting at the fact that the lack of smoothness is mostly technical on my part as where I think it needs more stretching or time on the timeline.

It is also very obvious to me that the average viewer will not be able to read, absorb or follow it as it is.

I am also not getting paid a lot for this as I am trying to use this as a learning experience and trying to be patient.

Movie Playback Smoothness/speed. Need A Little Help Please.

Heres the problem. In the attachment u'll see the animation I've started to work with. Its just a one bit and _badly_ NOT finished yet, so don't send me any critics about the design - I know whats wrong with it.

So anyway. The problems is that its not running smoothly. I mean, the backround fairy lights what u see start to bug everytime something happens on the maintimeline (motion tween etc). And the running just comes tacky. I've heard that one of the silly bugs that Flash has is that if theres alot of nested movieclips it just automatically starts to run tacky. Ive tried to take all the nested moviclips away and place more stuff on the main timeline - doesnt work.
Ive also heard about planting something what u've been doing on Flash to Director and it plays more smoothly there. Would that work on my animation? etc. Now, my backround image is compressed already, its not big and the fairies tack even if i would take the whole image away. The music file is not big either...but something is just messing around in there what makes it go all wrong...

Frame Rates And Smoothness In Movies
Hi,
I have a small flash intro set at 24 fps. When I run it on my sony machine, it seems to run fine, but if I run it on my old Dell, it is horribly slow. Is there anything I can do the ensure that it runs smoothly no matter what machine?

Also, for some reason, the moving image is not smooth when moving (seems to be shaky,) I'm using actionscript for this (which I got help on so dont' understand fully.) I was wondering if I make the image move in motion along several frames, would that solve the shaky problem or does the shakiness have nothing to do with actionscript. Let me know if you're interested in seeing the flash file and I'll email a pointer to you (don't want to make it public as it's a professional project.)

General Flash Question About Smoothness And File Size
I see a ton of flash banners on various websites that are so well done, and so smooth. My question is how do they get them so smooth and still keeping the file size down? Is there a trick that I am missing? A 3rd party software?

Whenever I make a banner that has a lot going on, the file size is enourmous.

Any thoughts? If i find one that is a good representation of what I am talking about I will post it.

Movie "Smoothness" Question.....
Hi guys, well i just finished completing my first flash website. I've spent over a month on this . Now i'm going to be posting the link in the section that is for site feedbacks. but before that theres a little problem. I've set the entire sites movies to 30fps. When i run the main swf file in flash itself its really smooth and nice. However, when i preview it in ie, all the movies are much slower. Also the biggest file is the main menu file which is only 45Kb. So why does it slow down so much in ie. Even when i stream 56k in flash its really smooth. Just the preloaders actually appear. Anyone know what i could do to tweak this problem? cheers.

it is just that i wanted flash on my header and navigation bar to make it more interactive looking.

SWF Header
Hi all,

I PM with a software development company, which provides data and software for car dealers.

One of our products is a wysiwyg webeditor. In the new version, we'll implement the posibility to embed swf files. No big deal, generally. But now there is a slight problem. With the routine the programmer uses, there is now swf-header analysis. This means, that the swf file is inserted with a 'default size', 300*200 px, no matter what the correct size is.

Now, so far I have found out, that the size is written in the swf header as FrameSize. But, of course its encoded. Does anyone know a open-source routine or have a detailled description, so that the programmer can develope his own routine?

Get Variable From URL Header
I currently have a flash file (swf) (version 5) on our website, that will load variables from a txt file using the loadvariables ("text.txt",0) command. I am attempting to set up a hyperlink in an email that will allow the recipient of the email to link to the flash and load the variables from a specific txt file. I would like to accomplish this by including the name of the txt file in the URL header as a variable. This way, I would hope to retrieve the variable on the first frame of my flash file using loadvariables (urlvariable + ".txt", 0). Ultimately, I would be able to send different url links to different recipients and allow them to load different variables into the flash file. I have researched both the loadvariables and getURL commands and am still having trouble.

Static Header
I am looking for a tutorial that explains to me how to make a static header for my web page so the header doesnt reload everytime i visit a new page(movie) of my flash website.

I can't understand the tutorials ive found... And on top of that, I'm afraid I'm going to have to throw away the last 3 weeks of making this website because i didn't make this static header first
