Browser Detect To Hide A DIV Layer?
I am adding a transparent Flash window to an HTML page, so it appears that things are flying over the HTML page. (I'm NOT having a problem with this.)
Problem is that the transparent Flash only works in the following browsers:
Internet Explorer 3 or higher (Windows)
Internet Explorer 5.1 and 5.2 (Macintosh)
Netscape 7.0
Mozilla 1.0 or higher
AOL
CompuServe
So... I need a JavaScript that detects browsers and hides the DIV layer if the wrong browser is detected. I've found browser detection scripts, but can't figure how to modify them to hide a layer.
PROBLEM: I'm totally lame when it comes to scripting. Can some kind soul help me here? I'd be happy to send lots of great karma your way!

How To Hide A Layer
Hi everybody. I made a presentation, and I have 4 layers, one of them I called it "buttons" and I placed a "Captions" checkbox in it. What I want to do is when the checkmark is on then layer 1 will show, but if it is off then layer 2 will be hidden. I don't know how to do this. Can somebody help me on this?

Mouse Show Vs. Hide Detect?
If you use the Mouse.hide(); and the Mouse.show(); is there a way to tell which state it is currently in?
a if (mouse.visible) type thing (I tried that (and _visible) already thinking it would be like a movie clip).

I have a toggle switch (3 positions). It has a RED position, a GREEN position, and it's default position is WHITE.

Depending on mouse placement, the RED or the GREEN position is activated. Red's hit area is to the left, Green's is to the right within the same image...
My question is: How do I make it so on the mouseover of say, the RED area, the GREEN area dissapears
Since I have two buttons on separate layers, the top layer buttons UP state is always blocking the lower layers' state-even if it is the one being toggled. Is there an actionscript that says something like: "on mouseover, hide Layer#2" or somehting like that?

I have a layer that's appear when I press a button.
This layer appears in front of the movie... but my button stills working... (so don't is shown).
How can I kill the button???!!!! but it need to work later again...

Hide An Entire Layer Through AS3?
Quick question - searching for the answer hasn't turned anything up yet.
Is it possible to hide an entire layer (as you would by clicking on the show/hide layers icons to the left of the timeline), but through actionscript? If so, how is this done?
If not, how would you best go about switching from say your main menu in your program to, say, an options menu? Obviously I realise you could go through every object individually hiding it from the stage - but I assume there might be an easier way ......

is it possible to hide or show a layer. Because I want to have these medals you get and they get stored in your briefcase. You click on the briefcase and it brings up a popup and shows you what you have and what you don't, but this briefcase constantly gets updated

I have objects on a layer that I'm really just using for guides (not like motion guide layers), so I get my spacing right for objects on other layers.

all the buttons should have the same AS.

When I press the button on layer1/frame1 it should goto frame 5 but before it reaches there it should hide both the dynamic text.

Use Layer To Hide Access To Other Layers...
This is probably NOT the way other people would handle this task, but i have a layer that i call 'Curtain' (because it hides crap that moves just off the stage), and i was trying to find a way to block access to anything that is UNDER this layer. Sounds confusing, eh? Here's a different approach:
1) If you will, go to http://UniSys-Corp.com/flash
2) Click on any option from the menu on the left (some are not there yet)
3) when the menu animates out of site, you can still access the buttons that are hidden underneath the 'Curtain', so, how do i make that curtain so that you cannot click beneath it?

Hi I'm creating a menu screen using a flash projector. I would like the user to click on a certain button and I would like a text box with instructions to become visible on the screen. Best Alternative To Jscript Show/hide Layer?
digging my hands back into flash and was wondering what the best alternative to the javascript show/hide command. for example, you have onMouseOver() and you tell it which layer to show or hide.
im assuming there is some alternative to this in actionscript using the _invisible property but how so? is that approach better than just using a movieclip that moves to different points where the objects are shown or not.
im trying to recreate 2 simple 2-tier navigation.
so:
mouseover "home" and "home_subnav" shows up
mouseover "pics" and "pics_subnav" shows up and "home_subnav" hides.
etc...
suggestions would be more than appreciated.

How Can A Flash Button Hide A Dreamweaver Layer?
I'm doing this page http://amedeldesign.com/interiores if you click where it says: "VER GALERIA DE PORTADAS" a flash animation will open with a slideshow, on right top it says "CERRAR GALERIA DE PORTADAS" which is to close the layer containing the animation. BUT, right now the close button is a layer on top of the animation.
I'd like to be able to close the layer containing the animation from the button in flash.
How can I do that?

I'm using ajax to load a flash movie when a button is pressed. the movie loads ok and all, but I need to have a button within the flash movie to be able to close both the animation and the layer.

I took the idea from those animations that sometimes appear in yahoo, where you click on a corner for example, and a flash animation that cover part of the page appears on top of the other content.
I don't know if what I'm doing is as practical code-wise either.
So also, if anyones has suggestions to do it in a better way, please let me. The least I ask is how to send a command fromt he flash movie that affects the html document.

Hide Layer Contents In Play Mode
I have a layer which has three sections indicating three different links (A, B, C) on a Flash page. The idea is that when someone clicks on these links, the contents of other links need to disappear. It doesn't. The dynamic text boxes disappear with no problems, but movie clips don't.
My setup:
Layer 1 has all the ActionScripts.
Layer 2 has all the contents.
Any help would be appreciated.

how do i detect if a particular layer is currently occupied by a swf?
Furthermore, can this detection of whether a layer is occupied include an if / then statment to take different actions depending on whether or not a layer is occupied.

How Can I Make A Flash Buton Show/Hide A DIV Layer?
I know this must be a newb question, but I can not get it to work. I am using Dreamweaver 8 and inserting a flash button, and then asking it to show a hidden layer on click, but it will not do it. it will work off of plain text but not the flash button... please help!!!

I have a Flash movie that calls the Macromedia Dreamweaver swap layer javascript when a user clicks on a mc. This js activates the appropriate div layer that was previously hidden. It's working just fine in Firefox and Safari, but it is not working in IE6 or 7.
The file is being saved in Flash 7 format, and the plugins I have in all my browsers are Flash 9. I suspect this has something to do with Flash's security settings, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Trying to get a drop down hide/show div on a html page triggered by a button in flash.
so by default that div is hidden on html and when u click on flash button,it will show a hide button inside div tag
(Intro: Very very Little experience in dynamic flash)

Another quick question if I may. I'm using Dreamweaver to create a simple HTML site as an intro to my flash animation. Is there anyway
to link in Dreamweaver so that the address does not appear in the address URL bar on Explorer? Currently it is showing ...intro.html then ...flash.html etc as the user clicks around. I don't mind it showing the main url, just not the pages the user links too.

[AS2] Is It Possible To End Movie Or At Least Hide It In Browser When It's Done?
Because of SEO considerations I am trying to use flash as little as possible in my site.
I need it though for uploading files. I like to have an accurate progress bar and I find flash is great for this.
Anyway once my file is uploaded, successfully, I would like the flash to go away (either exit or hide itself) and reveal an "Add To Basket" button underneath which is written in HTML.
Failing that, is there a way to get flash to change a CSS style of an object so I could have my Add To basket button hidden and then made visible when the flash tell it?
