I Downloaded some extensions for the flash mx
all the stuff was fine until i downladed a "Generator Object" extension by Mike Chambers i install everything, but i dont find any access or something to make it work
the file is a bar chart generator object, so if you downloaded the extensions of Mike Chambers, or you know how to make it work, please Tell me

i have downloaded the pay pal extensions for flash mx movie clips, however i cant seem to make it accessable in my components box...i think there is a problem with where i downloaded the .mxp file...if anybody has used the extensions please tell me where (what file) i should download them, or how i can make it accessable while working on my flash movie...thank you

RIght now I am currently building a slideshow in flash and I have forgotten the fromat for the local file extensions. I.E. what would you write in the actions if you had a file on your C:/ called image and the extension is C:/documents/files/pics/images.

Components And Extensions
Hi,

I've been using Flash consistently for the past three years. Over that time, I've created numerous "effects" clips that are reusable and have considered packaging them as smart clips in Flash 5. I've only recently begun to explore the new features of Flash MX, but have noticed that smart clips have been replaced, or perhaps more accurately, upgraded to components.

The thing is, the components I've seen have properties that are defined at design time, but I'm interested in creating components that are strictly accessed through actionscript at run time. One example is a spline function I created. I built a simple spline function in Flash 5 and noticed that MX only has a curveTo (single control point) method, so I would like to make a spline (two control points) or splineTo function available for other users as an extension while keeping the code... well... hidden.

If you have experience creating components like this and packaging them for public consumption, I'd really appreciate your response.

Learning Extensions
I have used the Learning Extensions teplate to crate a quiz. Problem is I need to load the quia into a main movie. I tried using the Pathcorrecter component but no go!? I am loading the quiz into a empty movieclip calld movieHolder. Then I place the pathcorrecter component onto the stage of the main movie. Any suggestions?

I was wondering if it is at all possible to have .swf files that can appear on a DVD as in being able to use a remote. (Basically creating a program that would be able to be accessed by a DVD player.)

File Extensions
i have a question...i'm new with the flash website design, versus html and .css scripting...i have designed a logo in illustrator and saved it as a .gif, but everytime i put the logo on my page, it gets very blurry...is there a different file extension to use or different way to put it on my page so that it doesn't lose it's clarity??

What Are The Use Of Extensions In Flash...?
I was just puzzled to hear one of my seniors say, " install flash extensions from macromedia site, to increase your functionality and to reduce the time taken to complete your work...."

Custom XML Extensions
I'm curious if creating my own xml extension (i.e. file.txml) is considered a bad practice. It works fine with flash, but I'm curious if this is usually frowned up or just asking for problems down the road.

Are Flash Extensions Possible?
Does Flash have a mechanism to allow developers to extend it to provide extra functionality? E.g. would it be possible to extend Flash to view MPEG-4 video?

Someone mentioned to me that instead of learning a lot of advanced actionscripting (which I'm just not acclimated to) I could download Flash extensions that would make my life a whole lot easier. Is there anyone with any favorites out there that a newbie like me could take advantage of? I am wondering what i need to do to have the extension manager recognize my FLash CS3 extensions that I just downloaded. It is not installing them and says that i need Flash CS3 or greater installed but I already have Flash CS3 Pro. Any suggestions? Are others having this problem?

Hi,

Do people use the Extension Manager a lot? What's the best way to utilize this application? Just download a bunch of extensions and try them out? What's the latest version of extension manager? What's the difference between an extension and a component?

Also, can someone explain how to utilize the Flash Project thing in MX 2004 to my advantage?

Can anyone help me, I bookmarked I site a while ago that you can download Flash extensions from (.mpx files) and I cant remember the address.

The site is whitw & grey with red text and all in Flash.

I found out that I can make a script that does something and save it as a comand.
The next step would be to make it an MXP
But i must make a msi or something like that first.
I read all in help but i do not get it.

I have a flash site that needs to sell four types of tickets to an event. In my flash movie i have set the four options with a list so that the user may select how many of a particular item s/he wants. I have downloaded the .mxp extension from Web Assist and now I have no idea how to put the "snap ins" into my movie. I'm quite new and any advice is greatly appreciated!

Help With Class Extensions With Game
hello.

I am in the process of building the classic "snake" game.

right now, i got the collision detection working so that if i touch a wall, the character disappears (dies). However, I am having difficulties adding detection so that if i touch a mole (bonus points item), i get a point. everytime i use codes like

mole.dostuff();

in my snake.as file

i get errors about it being static

the file that i m trying to connect to is mole.as

if you can help me, i would really appreciate it (i skipped school to work on this, sooo frustrating)

URL Flags(extensions) For Swf Files
Hi. Does anyone know how to insert flags(URL Extensions) into a flash movie? What I have is a flash form which has 2 main frames - a frame where the questions are displayed and the user is asked to select his choices, and another frame where all the user's choices are displayed before he is able to submit the form. Both the frames are in the same scene.

I would be putting the swf file into a html page. What I would like to do is when the movie plays the frame where the user's choices are displayed before he submits, there is an extension(or flag) to the URL of the html.

Eg. URL of SWF in html before reaching the submit page :
C://mydocuments/form/feedbackform.swf

URL of swf in html when at submit page with all of user's choices:

CL//mydocuments/form/feedbackform.swf?submitpage

The URL should be along these lines. However I won't mind having different ways of putting the extension. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Syntax For Importing Extensions
How do I find the syntax to import an extension that doesn't provide an example in the MXI? I am trying to load Flashguru's FileSystem, but I can't figure out what the dot-syntax is to load it. import FileSystem did nothing. Same for uk.flashguru.FileSystem.

I'm assuming this is really obvious since I can't seem to find an explanation for it anywhere, but it is 2 am and apparantly not obvious enough for me right now.

Flash And Firefox Extensions
Ok I doubt this is even possible but here goes; I have a program I have built in Flash it basically scans text that has ben pasted into a text box and it outputs text in other text boxes depending on the text it finds in the main document.

Aaaaaaanyway what I would like to do is incorporate this into firefox with an extention I guess.

I am guessing my otpions are:

- convert the actionscript to javascript; it uses searchString and an array.
-simply create a link as a menu item in firefox that launches the program, little static i feel
-a half and half, so when you click in say tools > my program puts the text in the html document into the clipboard and then launches the flash program and pastes it into the flash document.

Is any of those possible? I feel pretty comfortable with flash, I'm not the greatest coder and know a little about javascript.

Where Does A Sane Person Put Their Extensions?
I am using Flash 8, AS2. I have a nice code library called the Fisix Engine. Within the unzipped folder is the subfolder 'Bin' and within is an empty folder named 'generated' and FisixEngine, a seemingly non-editable 'Flash Component File'.

At the moment, this Flash Component File rests in C:Program FilesMacromediaFlash 8FisixEngine_Alpha_0.5Bin ... but where is it supposed to go?

I have heard that it doesn't matter where. In that case, what is the best practice?

EDIT: For that matter, I cannot even seem to get this component file to be listed in my components browser no matter what I do with it. Furthermore, the examples included #include files which appear to be HTML files instead of .as files. This confuses me very much... What's the fastest way to organize this so that I can make instances of the custom classes included in the component?

Editing MovieClip Extensions
Hi,

Suppose I created some animation (with say 10 frames) in CS3 then set linkage to export as class MyAnimClass with the default base class flash.display.MovieClip. Furthermore suppose that in each of the 10 frames contains, amongst other things, an instance of a sprite MySpriteClass similarly exported for Actionscript.

Now if I later create an instance myAnim of MyAnimClass I am able to move through the frames, pick up the various local x,y locations of the instances of MySpriteClass and move them about / set them invisible etc. etc.

However what I want to do is work directly with the class MyAnimClass. I want to edit the layout etc. of the relevant MySpriteClass instances in each frame so that I change MyAnimClass (or perhaps create a new one based upon it). Otherwise every time I create an instance of MyAnimClass I have to edit it accordingly, but I only really want to edit it once, and then create instances.

In other words I have a class created in CS3 which extends MovieClip and I want to edit the animation within at runtime, outputting a new class. I was wondering if I could create an instance, edit it and then create a class from that?
