flash and netscape???
why is it that when I go to macromedia web site I can view their flash on their web page using netscape 4.79.
but when i create something in flash and go to view it, I can't see it, it will not display anything I created in flash and display in netscape.

so i had to get the flash 6 installer, now it works, but I could view flash on macromedia web site before without it.

any ideas

Hi

can anyone help me

have a textbox three words in it, Second word in in bold, but when I publish it its not in bold in the swf

solution delete the word from this textbox and put in enough space so i can place a second texbox above the blank spave and pu the word in it and bold it, it looks like there all in the one text in the swf and correct.

my problem is that when I open the swf in netscape the textboxes are not aligned and the smaller textbox with the bold text in it is way oof the other.

Anyone any ideas, by the way I am and have to use a device font(_gothic). And I cannot break apart the text

Well and for start my presence in the comunity I have a litle problem whit flash and netscape.

I'm make a webpage using php to query a database and then stored the query in a POST variable for pass it into a movieclip in flash, the problem is that the flash movie clipt doesn't recognize portuguiese caracters like "ç","ã","õ","á" or "à"... the funny thing, or not, is whit internet explorer is working fine.

Can't See Flash In Netscape 6.2
I just loaded NS 6.2 onto my PC for testing purposes and now notice all my flash movies don't appear at all, just a white box where they should be, no broken link, no popup warning etc. I'm pretty sure most were exported as flash 5 (made with mx). My site is www.sproutmedia.com which has some basic flash elements that don't show, including navigation if anyone has time to take a look. I noticed that even the 2advanced site has the same thing happening. Is this problem only with NS 6.2 or are there later browsers without the flash plugin?? Is it a good idea to have a plugin detection to divert to the macromedia download site if flash isn't detected or is there a better way? Any help much appreciated.

the project i am working on messes up in netscape. the radio buttons don't show up in netscape, and the movie cuts off the top half unless i open dreamweaver and add my swf that way. is there some setting i need to change when publishing? i'm using flash mx 2004. thanks!

Flash And Netscape
I have just created a website that is using a layer and when that layer loads in netscape and the scrollbar is not in either the full top or full bottom position but anywhere between it seems to completely blow the buttons out of position. Therefor anything in the background that is clickable is not. What am I missing here? Is this fixable?

Flash 5, FSCommand And Netscape 6
Hello all

I'm trying to run some JavaScript using the FSCommand, but it seems that Netscape 6 does not run the DoFSCommand function as generated by Flash 5.

I recently discovered that the FSCommand does not work on IE on the Mac . . . is there a similar problem with Netscape 6 or is it more likely that I am doing something wrong?

Flash/PHP POST Vs GET In Netscape
I'm having a problem when calling external PHP scripts in Flash using load variables when viewed through Netscape...
When I use POST as the method, none of the variables are passed to or from the script...
When I use GET as the method, the script seems to be called twice and the output is doubled...
If I use neither, and attach the variables to the end of the address in a query string, the output is quadrupled...
In IE, POST works fine, but the results from GET or a query string are the same as above.
Any ideas?

Flash .swf Shrinking In Netscape 6.1 WHY?
I just finished a site the has a small Flash header at the top og the homepage. I used the code generated from the Flash publish command, and cut and pasted it into my main HTML page. It looks great in IE 5 but when I view it in Netscape 6.1 it shrinks to a quarter of it's size! I've struggled with this, looking at the code and can't find what I'm doing wrong! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?

Flash In Netscape Browser
I have 3 flash .swf images on my web page - they look fine using Internet Explorer, but when I view the page in a Netscape browser all 3 of my .swf images have a white background rather than the transparent background they should have. I used "transparent windowless" when I did the publish settings in Flash 5. Is there something different I need to do so that the background will be transparent in both types of browsers?

Flash 5 / Netscape 6.2 Question
I've designed a Flash 5 windows projector movie that opens pdfs and website links. It works fine with all versions of IE and Netscape except for Netscape 6.2. I used a getURL to link to external websites and a local file, but it won't open with Netscape 6.2 as the default browser. Any suggestions?

Flash Forms And Netscape
Hi there.. misleading title sorry, 2 seperate questions. ignore this elsewhere.

1. How do I make forms in flash and then resize the text input field without it messing with the proportions and size of the text inside it.. when I resize the box to the measurements I need it stretches the type that goes inside.

2. When I embed my swf in a HTML page, Netscape (4.73 Mac) changes all the text to what appeared to be a snippet of HTML, but it was nothing that related to my document. When I clicked on a button the page changed but a related animation did not play and some of the body copy had again been changed to what appeared to be a snippet of Actionscript used in my movie.

What's going on? Netscape bug? It works fine in IE.

Flash 5 bu the way, any help would be a big help!

Netscape Flash Player.
Is there a way for my users to install the flash player with out the complicated download file and install process, that plauges Netcrap..oops I mean Netscape? Not only does it confuse the "simpler" users, but it also closes the freakin browser then opens up to a macromedia page... I hate them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Netscape is the bane of my existence.

Netscape Navigator And Flash
Does anyone know why Flash movies need more room in Netscape 4+? If you place a flash movie 460x200 say in a table cell it displays with those exact dimensions in IE, but if you open the same page in Netscape an invisible "border" is displayed pushing everything out of order? Grrrr. Anyone know how to fix this?

POST From Flash In Netscape Vs. IE

I am using a function in my Flash application to post a variable value to an .asp page, in order to call up that page in a new window with information, pertaining to the submitted variable value. Works just fine in IE. However, in Netscape, the variable posted by Flash does not appear to be received by the .asp page.

Netscape 7 Problem With Flash 5
Just wondering if anybody is having a weird problem loading several external Flash movies into the main movie by using Netscape 7 for Windows. This problem does not happen to IE 5.

The problem I'm having occurs when I preloded several extrenal flash movies into the main movie, what happened was Netscape loads the first SWF and then skip the rest, then plays the main movie. However, I noticed that the other SWF are still being preloaded in the background.

What's coded in the main Flash movie are as the following :

frame 1 : loadMovie("one.swf","one_mc");

load the extrnal movie, one.swf, iuto one_mc movie clip in the main movie

frame 2 : stop();

stop the main movie and waits until the external movie has been loaded completely
another MC is running which checks if the loaded bytes of the external movie has reached the total bytes, if so then tell the main movie to play the next frame, otherwise keeps looping until all bytes are loaded.

frame 3 : loadMovie("two.swf","two_mc");

frame 4 : stop();

yet another MC is running to check if the external movie has been fully loaded.

frame 20 : one_mc.gotoAndPlay("play");

tells the one.swf which has been loaded to one_mc to play the frame called 'play'
...

On each external movie, the first frame contains stop(); command which will stop at the first frame and wait for the main movie to tell them to play.

It seems that Netscape 7 skips all the stop(); command in the main movie after the first movie has been loaded, so it plays all the frames on the main movie until the end, while the other extrenal Flash movie still being loaded ( which is not supposed to happen that way ).

I would like to know if you Flash Gurus have experienced such problem and already find a work arround the problem.

Publishing Flash For Netscape
Is there any difference between the <EMBED> codes for IE vs. Netscape? When I upload my page to a server it works fine in IE but nothing comes up when it is viewed in Netscape.

There are 30 of these in a long list,here I have jut listed the last 2. They are in a file called nav.asp which in Explorer works like a dream, however in Netscape nothing appears, just a white empty space. I have found other messages to this effect on here, but none could be applied to solve this particular problem.

The Main ASP pages on the site call up the nav.asp as an include in to a table. Can anyone spot what I need to do to make the nav appear under netscape too, without losing it in Explorer?

When I view a page that has an embedded flash object in IE 6, the flash movie is displayed at the correct size.

When I view it in NS 7, it is about 25% smaller.

Why is Netscape down-sizing the embedded flash object?

Flash Probs In Netscape.
Hi,

I having Netscape problems(7.1) getting a java dropdown menu to show over the top of a flash banner loaded in an iframe.
At present it appears to drop down behind the flash movie...

In Explorer I got around this by embedding the swf with a trasparent background. But noy joy in Netscape.

Has anyone come across this?

Flash Not Showing In Netscape
OK...all my movies that were made with flash 5 are working fine in Netscape. Now I have discovered that when I make a movie with MX all that is visible is a white box. I posted once before and someone advised that wmode transparent is not recognised in Netscape 6.2. I thought that was the problem as this flash parameter is fantastic and I use it often. However after checking my sites I see that even sites that didn't have the wmode parameter only show a white box even when I export the movie as Flash 5. I am very concerned about this issue as are my clients. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix the problem (other than sticking to html) or point me in the right direction to find out what cross browser problems there are with flash. Flash Help Needed For Netscape: Will Pay

Im on a relatively tight deadline at this point and would gladly pay someone if they can figure out how to figure out the netscape glitch for loading into empty movie clips. the problem is simple, I have an empty clip called "containermc". I have a movie clip called "preloader" with two frames in it both of which have stop actions. The second frame of the preloader has the following code:

Viewing Flash In Netscape
I've made a flash site using Flash MX and publish it using Dreamweaver MX 2004. It has no problem browsing it in IE but I could not view it in Netscape (I'm using the latest version 7.1), appear only a white blank box (kind the size of my .swf file)...

Flash Cut Off In Netscape And Mozilla

heya... im having a problem here and i can't seem to figure out what exactly im doing wrong.

i have an html page with an iframe positioned using css with a z-index of 1

there is also a transparent swf that is positioned with css as well with a zindex of 0

now the drop down menu overlaps the iframe but in netscape even though i can see the drop down part of the menu i can not use the links... its like they arent there but it works fine in ie...

My objective is to have a flash movie goto a specific frame once the html page has loaded. This must work in both IE and netscape.

I have created a page with a very simple swf animation, and three html buttons. There is also an onLoad command in the HTML telling the flash to goto a specific frame. This all seems to work fine in IE, but in netscape the onLoad command doesnt seem to work even though the equivilent buttons do.

I find this very confusing, why wont this work in Netscape? any help or comments would be appreciated.

Flash In IE And Netscape Layers
Trying to put a swf into a layer. The problem I have is with alignment. I have it working in IE but while postioning the layer in DW the "what you see is what you get" view is not at all representative to what it will look like when viewed in the browser. Is this the way DW is supposed to work while positioning layers?

ALso Netscape 8 doesn't show the layer correctly at all. It simply plays the layer content in its tiny "placeholder window. I am sure there is something basic for Netscape in relation to layers that I am not doing. If you could look and see I'd appreciate it.

Flash 9.0 Broke Netscape 7.2
Hi everyone. I saw the previous posts about Flash 9.0 but it did not seem to fit my problem. Sometime over the weekend my Netscape 7.2 decided to crash within a few seconds of logging in to my home page. The error shows a problem with npswf.dll When I looked into the error further (and checked other web sites) the problem seems to point at Flash 9.0. If I remove 9.0 and reopen Netscape, the home page (comcast) opens and will run without crashing but it does not show any of the flash pictures and keeps popping up a login (user selection) box. If I re-install Flash 9.0, the home page comes up normally but after a few seconds, something crashes netscape again. While watching the home page load it looks like the error occurs when a flash object starts to load. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. By the way this is an XP SP2 system with all patches and running Norton 2006 Antivirus. All patches and updates are current.

Netscape 7.01 And % Sizing In Flash
I upgraded to Netscape 7.01 and much to my surprise, after the upgrade some of my Flash 5 animations displayed as blank pages in NS 7.01 and Mozilla.

After comparing the animations that were still working to the ones that weren't, I discovered the only difference was that the ones working specified absolute pixel values in the EMBED tag, and the movies specifying percent values no longer worked.

I decided to remove the Transitional doctype from files that were problematic:

!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-// W3C//DTD HTML 4,0 Transitional//EN"

This worked. Netscape 7.01 and Mozilla now scale my Flash 5 animations to full window size again. Please note that Netscape 7.0 did *not* have any problem with the DOCTYPE and percent scaling. Mozilla also uses the Gecko engine, so...

Apparently this is a "bug" in Netscape although I'm sure they would prefer to think of it as adhering to browser standards. -

It's listed on www.about.com under W but for some reason when I click the link to my site the flash navigation loops about half way through. It seems to be becuase it's in a frame, if I remove the about.com frame it's ok.... any ideas?

Also in Netscape 4.7 the browser detection doesn't seem to work. I've noticed I also can't see anything on macromedia.com does anyone know why? The Flash player is ok.

Flash MX Screws Up In Netscape 7

WHY does the above listed dcotype declaration (automatically generated by Flash MX Pro when publishing an HTML page) screw up viewability in Netscape 7? I basically found this out by accident, but since have been forced to weed through all my sites to remove this declaration.

The way in which it is screwed up is as follows: The SWF appears at the very top of the browser window and is chopped off in the middle. Basically, you can only view the lower portion of any SWF in Netscape. What a crock!

ALSO, Netscape does not appear to support the new Media Components in Flash MX Pro. This is very bad news unless someone knows of a workaround.

FINALLY, sometimes in Netscape (and I've also seen this in IE), an unwanted square (about 30 x 30 pixels) appears in the top left corner of my SWF for no apparent reason. It appears to be a button of some sort but does nothing but crap up my site. Has anyone else noticed this?

I hope someone has some answers for these bugs.
