Can SWF's Download While Others Are Being Viewed?
I have serveral photo series that contain about 10 photos each. They way I build everthing is with serperate SWF's that load individually when the correspoding button is pressed. For example, if you click on "Series 1" a SWF called "series 1" will load on level 01. etc.....

My question:
Since some of these series go over 500kb in size, I was wondering if it was possible to have them load in the background while the user was viewing the first series? I not even sure if this is possible but any help would be great. Thanks.

Differencing Viewed Btns From Non-viewed Btns
I have created a project with many different scenes. You link to the scenes through one page that has many buttons on it. Here is what I am looking to do:
If you click one of the buttons and link to a scene, and then go back to the main page, can I alter the state of the button that has been clicked to show that that button has been used (basically showing which buttons have been viewed and which have not). I believe it may be similiar to a game board, you click on a piece, get a question and go back to the game board but that square is a different color.
Can anyone help me?

Best Viewed On 1024x768, But.......
I have a splash screen that detects your player, but I wish I could detect your screen size. I don't care for pop-ups generally, but how do I get this one pop-up to open a decent sized window without it being to big for an 800x600 user.

Help:Flash Exe Cannot Be Viewed
I view flash.exe created by people. But recently I have blank screen when I open any exe from flash. How to rectify this problem? What file is necessary to enable to view the flash file?
Please help me as I cannot see any exe from flash which is irritating. Thanks in advance.

Swf, Looks Diffrent If Viewed In The Net?

When i hit F12 the swf looks fine, or if i send it to a buddy via icq it looks ok. But if i upload it to a server, and try to view it via http, it looks diffrent??

FlashMX Not Able To Be Viewed
I have an html page that has 2 flash images within it. They were created in FlashMX.

I looked at the page on 4 different computers. It's fine on 3 of them. However one computer cannot see the flash, all that shows up is a white box within the html, same size as the flash.

It was my understanding that FlashMX automatically detects if the computer has the current player and if not, gives a warning message. This did not happen.

I also had read in the help manual:

You can also publish the FLA file in alternative file formats—GIF, JPEG, PNG, and QuickTime—with the HTML needed to display them in the browser window. Alternative formats enable a browser to display your movie's animation and interactivity for users who don't have the Flash Player 6 installed. When you publish a FLA file in alternative file formats, the settings for each file format are stored with the FLA file.

To me, that means that if the flash didn't show, at least the gif or jpg would show. But no, just the white box.

Does anyone have any ideas of what is going on?

Playing Last Viewed Scene
I'm creating a Flash 5 movie with multiple scenes. Each scene has a back button and a next button . I want the back button to play the last scene viewed no matter where you are in the movie.
For example: Lets say I have 5 scenes. Scene1-Scene2-Scene3-Scene-4-Scene5.
-I just finished viewing scene 2 and I click on the button that goes to scene 4. When i click the back button I want the back button to the last scene i viewed which was scene 2 with out going to scene 3. Can anyone help?

Skipping The Intro After Its Been Viewed Once?
okay i am using a dynamic system for my site and i want the flash intro header to only play once and then automatically just skip to the second part of the movie after that. I am pretty sure its possible cause i see it don all the time but only on HTML and flash sites. but since mine is dynamic i dont know if i have to do something special as its generating and reloading that main movie everytime. I do know how to make it load the xsecond movie on all the pages except the home page but still when i go back to home its gonna play the intfo again. so i am lost as to even where to begin on this. any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.

just to recap in simpler terms i want intro to play the first time you come to the site but from then on automatically skip to scene two or even just play movie two.

just wondering does anyone know how to create a feature on a website like the recently viewed items feature on amazon-basically what i want to do is that when a user has looked at an item and then looks at another item, that the first item appears as a smaller icon and the user can click on this smaller icon to jump back to the first item again??

Embedded Swf Screws Up When Viewed Again
I have a XML-populated, Papervision 2 driven, image Carousel which I load into a UILoader from a main loading swf.. Everything works perfectly, except if you run the carousel, then run another item, and run carousel again...

What goes wrong is that for some reason it gives a number which is out of range of the # of images.. for example, If I have 8 images and run the swf again, it might try to go to image #34. If I try to use the #of images modulus of the current image, then it's off by 3 .. for example, image 5 instead of image 8.

The weird thing is that I use .unload() before I load the new swf..

Any ideas on how I could load completely fresh? I'd have no problems if flash unloaded fully..

I need a way to redirect a viewer of a flash .flv movie to a page of my choosing after they have watched the entire movie. I can't figure out how to do it in actionscript, manually or with parameter tags in the html.

The user watches the video on the website ( a lectue/presentation) and then has to take a quiz. I need a way to have the video automatically (or with an embedded link) go to another url that has an embedded flash quiz after the user has watched the entire video to prevent them from skipping the video and going right to the quiz.

I created the flash by importing the video using the "streaming from a server" method. My fla library only has the skin and the flv playback icon. On the webpage I embed the swf and i reference the flv to play it back for the viewer.

I have to use a streaming .flv because they are long lectures and they will be viewed on the web. If it was embedded I coul put a link in the timeline at the end but the videos are way to big. I've tried putting the link in the second frame (the first frame contains the entre .flv) but this just makes the video skip the .flv and loop the two frames.

I could either use some simple actionscript for my one and only frame to redirect to another url or possibly a param in the object code after implemetation into the web page that redirects after viewing.

Skiping Intro Once It Has Been Viewed
Hello everyone,

I currently stuck on a project where I have a flash playing for a navigation bar. The problem is that every time the person goes the page the flash loads again. I have seen a way somewhere on the web where if the person has loaded the flash before (saved in the cookies or whatever) that the user doesn't see the animation again and the flash goes to the end of the animation and shows the end of the movie/navigation animation.

I just want the person to view that animation one time after they have seen it and don't want it to be annoying because it keep animating every time they see a page.

Any help would be great. I'm currently have my flash built into html.

Can A Variable Value Be Returned To Be Viewed Within The Swf File?
Hi to all,

The question is about showing as text or image the value of a variable within a flash file.

The flash file is given a variable and I would need its content to be displayed for the viewer.

In other words is there is the equivalent of the Response.write or Document.write (javascript) wihtin flash?

Slower Animation When .swf Viewed Online
i've noticed that the speed of my animation is noticeably slower when i view my .swf online.

my project is set at 30fps, and when i check the animation within Flash by hitting CTRL-ENTER, everything runs at the right speed. if i publish my .fla file and run the .swf off my computer, the animation also runs smoothly.

but if i upload the .swf onto my server and view the .swf by typing in its URL in a browser window, all of the animated sequences seem slower. is that normal?

Navigation Works Fine When Viewed On PC But Not On Mac, Why?

Previously Viewed Button Question
In the process of designing my portfolio site.

Could anyone tell me if this a simple actionscripting solution to my question?

In each "gallery" of my portfolio site I want to set up a line of seprate buttons representing each different piece of art. When you click on one of those buttons it will take you to that piece of art in the timeline. What I'd like to have happen is that when you've already clicked on that button and viewed that art the button changes color to let you know you've already been there. This means if you click on the 1st button and see "Art 1". Then you want to go to the 7th button and see "Art 7" the first button has a differnt tint to it to show you've already seen it. This tint in color does not disable it, you can still go back and click on the 1st button again and see "Art 1" again if you want to.

Hope this is clear and someone can answer my question. I'm still using Flash 5.

Text Is Missing When Viewed On Other Computers
I thought static text was automatically embedded in your Flash movie. I have text in two static text fields, and I can only view it on computers that have that font installed. It's completely gone when you view it on other computers.

Unfortunately the behavior of the flash file is a bit different on the server vs. locally vs. locally w/browser. Can flash know what environment is viewing the file? It can be confusing to develop when i need to keep track of so many environment specific items, such as no flashvars when using "Test Movie", etc...

AutoPlay When Portion Of Page Is Viewed?
Is it possible to play a swf when the reader of my web page scrolls down to a certain part of the page? Here's the scenario: I'm creating a long sales copy ad. When the reader gets down to where i would normally have my signature I'd like an animation of my signature to start playing, like I'm signing the page. Not when they click on anything or roll over anything, just when they are in "the area" of that portion of the web page.

Is there any way to do this? Maybe some actionscript?

Masking Problem When Viewed In Browser
I am sort of a newbie to Flash. I have created an intro for a website I am designing. It starts with a masking effect over some text. However the mask will not display in the swf file (or in a browser). The text is 'impact' font and I have read somewhere that Flash has problems with text and masks or something. I have tried breaking the text apart but to no avail. I am tearing my hair out with this one!!!! Any help is greatly appreciated.... I have the .fla file available if anyone is interested in helping (please!)

Xml Images Not Displaying When Viewed On Server
I'm loading several images via an xml file. When viewing the swf locally (Flash preview or embedded in html in a browser) everything displays perfectly.

However, once uploaded to any server (I've tried several) some of the images don't display. It seems very random, some display, some don't. In one instance the image appears briefly then disappears, so I know it is parsing the xml correctly and the image is getting into Flash, then something is causing it not to display.

Is this some known Flash bug? has anyone experienced this before and have a solution?

Dynamic Text Not Appearing When Viewed In Browser
I have a dynamic text box with a scrollbar. When I test the movie within Flash, everything appears, but... when I pull it up within the site, in a browser, I get no text. The scrollbars appear, but the text does not. The .txt file is on the same level as the .swf file that is calling it. So the path is just "mytext.txt". Right??

Designing Sites To Be Viewed In All Screen Resolutions
I am trying to find out the best way to design a whole Flash Site so it doesn't matter your screen resolution. Dimensions of the movie I would use 100% but I am trying to determine what the size of the stage should be to develop in. I have seen sites were they list out the screen resolutions 640 X 480, 800 X 600 etc & the movie launches at 100%. I doubt very much they develop 4 flash movies to accommodate the resolutions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been surfing but no luck finding an answer.

Load External .swf Looses All Functionality When Viewed...Why?
Basically i am loading a funky scroller for my portfolio into a MCholder...when I view the entire movie the loaded swf. has no functionality exept basic buttons...it just site on the stage doing nothing.

When I load using levels both 0 and 1 it works fine...obviously in the the wrong spot though..

What am i doing wrong?

Can i use the load movie in levels mode and position the movie using script...(rather than target)...?

Please help i am loosing it over this one..

Why Do The Scroll Buttons In This File Work When Viewed On A PC But Not A Mac?
when the movie is published, the scroll buttons in this movie don't work when viewed on a mac, but work fine when viewed on a PC. any ideas why? the script is pretty simple. could it be that the mac i viewed it on didn't have an up-to-date version of flash player?

Starting A Movie In The Middle If Previously Viewed
I need to detect when a movie has been played on a previous visit to the page so that it can play from a different spot on the timeline.

I know this is a cookie issue, but I don't know how to tell the movie to start at frame 89 instead of frame 1.

Power Point Presentation Viewed Online
I have a Power Point Presentation, and I would like to add audio to it and post it on my web site. I recently saw another site with what looked like a PP presentation, and a different audio for each slide. It was extremely clean, and had each slide listed on the left, with a timer showing the time left, and each slide having its own audio file. It had an adobe logo on the bottom.

I have Adobe CS3. Can you tell me what the best way to get a PP presentation with audio posted to a website so that vistors can view it and listed to the audio? Do you know what program it was that created the above?

Custom Classes Not Working When Viewed In HTML
Here's the issue:
I created a custom class to handle image loading, cropping, etc. for this particular project. The file works fine when viewed by launching the SWF file itself, but when the HTML file is launched, none of the content appears. Anyone have any idea why this happens?

Slow/Choppy Animation When Viewed Online
When I view an swf file from my hard drive, the animation is smooth and snappy (a good thing). After I publish the file and view it online (with the same computer), it is noticeably slower and choppy. I don't know a great deal about what IE/Firefox does behind the scenes, but I can't seem to make sense out of this. When using a basic preloader, doesn't the entire flash file become cached, essentially storing the file onto the user's hard drive before playback? In which case, I would think the animation would perform equally. Maybe I'm completely off-base with this, though. Could anybody tell me the cause for poor online animation and clear this issue up for me? Thanks a lot.

(The framerate is currently 30 fps, which I know is not recommended, but the higher framerate seems to compensate a bit for the slowness/choppiness...also the animations I'm using aren't that intense)
