Flash :: Click On A Button (.mov) And Have It Open A Certain Size?

Dear all,

My button does not work. I have created a symbol (button) and change colour when mouse over and down. But how do I make it open the web site I want? I've tried to open Actions and give my button (whose name is Bos_last_button) a script saying getURL('http://www.mywebsite.com', '_blank');

What happens with this is that web page opens the url automatically which I do not want. Why? I've searched actions for another url script but getURL was what I found under Browser network.

Sometimes I also receive an output error saying "Statement must appear within on handler" and then my script. What's that?

Using flash 5; have tried scripting to paste the instructions into there, but it keeps giving me error messages.

Button Click To Open Movie
I know this sounds way too easy but for the life of me I can't figure it out.
I have a slideshow saved in my library as a movie
I have a main page (scene 1)
From scene 1 I want to click a link button called "showroom" and have the slideshow movie open within the scene 1 page

I have tried numerous ways to do it but am always getting code handling errors etc.

the last thing I tried was this code in the button actions panel

How To Click The Button On The Left And Open A New Movie On The Right?
Sorry guys, not only do I not know how to do this I don't even know how to ask the question properly??? *ugh*

I want to create a site where the menu is on the left hand side of the screen.. and when the user clicks on the different menu buttons the appropraite info opens up on the right hand side. Click Button To Open Image In Same Window
i am creating a small slideshow that will sit in a webpage and started with scrolling thumbnails along the bottom of each image that will be in the slideshow. that works fine.

next i created a new movie above it with the full size images, one per keyframe.

what i want to do is make the scrolling thumbnails so when i click on one it will open that image right there above it.

i am wondering what the script is i need to insert to make each button pull up the full size image.

Very Simple Click Button And Open New Window Issue
I have a test fla file that only contains a circle I made into a button. I selected the button, and put this actionscript inside it.

When I export this and run it in IE or Firefox nothing happens. If I hit control and enter to test it, it tries to open the window, then I get the error Internet Explorer cannot download Unspecified Error.

Can anyone help?

Writing A Variable That Sets Doors To Open And Close Upon The Click Of A Button
Ok so i'm working on a project that has a number of doors. Once you click on a door I have a movie clip that allows each door to slide open. Now my quandary is that I would like to have an active door close upon either a click on itself or another button attached to a different door movie. I have about 10 doors. I'm not sure if i described this very well, please ask feel free to ask me questions if I didn't explain this well enough.

Please please please help me!! I'm stuck!

[MX04] Size Changing Box Upon Button Click
Ok, here is my situation. I have a movie consisting of nine buttons and a white 'box' acting as a border that will change depending on what button the user clicks. The idea is when the user clicks on a button and opens a new page, the box will resize itself to the dimentions of this new 'page'. The catch is the movement will be different from say page A -> B and page A -> C as pages B and C will have different sizes. The only way I can think to do this would be to make a series of shape tweens for each movement, ie: A to B, A to C, A to D, etc then do B to A, B to C, B to D, etc and have the appropriate variable/goto command... however, seeing as I have 9 different buttons/pages, this just doesn't seem practical and I'm betting there is an easier way.

...did that make any sense, do you understand what I mean? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

1--I have a movie playing in my browser with a button on stage.
("A.html" + "A.swf")

2--When i click this button a new browser window must open "FULL SCREEN". ("B.html" + "B.swf" in it.)

3--This browser window ("B.html") must always stay on top of all window's (Like "A.html" and all other window's.)

4--In the full-screen window ("B.html"):
Movie ("B.swf") has two buttons on stage:
--The first button loads a new movie ("C.swf") in the full-screen page. ("B.html")
--The second button opens a pop-up window. ("pop_up.html")

5--The pop-up window ("pop_up.html") must always stay on top of the full-screen window. ("B.html")

If someone can help me with this i would be very grateful.

On Click Open Up A Pop-up Menu
I have some presentation I am working on.
I would like to have a "pop-up menu" show up once you click on an icon on the stage.
How do I achieve that without calling timeline frames. Is it even possible doing it some otherway at all?

EXAMPLE: www.fantasy-interactive.com click on arrow on upper right corner and pop up will show up. I would like to have something like that without the drag option though.

When I set actions to a button the action works fine. However, if the button is hit a second time, the whole movie restarts. I can't figure out why? I have attached the file. Please some one help if you can..

I know that it can be done cos the user itself has mailed me a presentation in flash done by some german company. they have give a Powerpoint Viewer application along with the actual presentationa and the readme file says that if u cannot view the powerpoint presentation then install the Powerpoint viewer application on your machine.

using mx2004. Ive successfully used self contained JS with in flash to open and placea new pop up broswer window. But what I would like to do is have two windows open at the same time. I could have the first window open the second onLoad but this will be blocked by the new pop up blockers in the latest browsers

When i try to do it it just opens one and ignores the second instruction.

I know this can be done with buttons, etc.

All I want to do is to be able to click anywhere on the movie to go to the url. (Using flash Pro 8).

Click Thumbnails To Open In New Window
HELLO his is my first post and i need a bit of help!!!

i am creating a flash portfolio and i need to do a simple task that i cant seem to figure out ( then again it might not be very simple)

what i have is a collection of 9 thumbnail images, what i want to do is when the user clicks on thumbnail the image opens up in a new window, this new window is 800 X 800.

now i would like the window to stay up unless the user closes it.
if the user clicks on another thubnail the window just stays up and replaces the image ( rather than a new window opening)

and finaly

there are 2 .MOV files i would like the user to access as well as the thumbnails

these movies are 320 X 240

if the user clicks on the movie link the 320 240 window appears

* note the 800 X 800 window doesent have to dissapear when the movie pops up

ok i hope that this idea is understandable, if you have any suggestions or comments to make the easier please feel free!

Single Click Button Requires Double Click
I noticed that some buttons in all of my .swf's were taking
two clicks to get them to work. After you double click them
once they work fine. I made a very simple movie to demonstrate
my problem. Please tell me if this problem is occuring for you also.

I have an on(release) button on a friends web site but it seems to be taking a double click to get through to the next page and also on that next page too clicking on the images takes a double click. Below is the AS I have on the button, similar on all other buttons too!

[F8] XML Loaded Thumbnail, Click To Open A SWF In New Window?
Currently, my thumbnails, when clicked, load SWFs in an emptyMC on the stage, however I would instead like to do one of two things:

1. launch the SWF in a new window, or

2. be able to center align my SWFs (all different sizes)

Can anyone offer any help? As you can see below, the function currently creates the emptyMC then loads the SWF there. Any advice is appreciated!

Need To Change This AS To Open Up A New Window When You Click On An Image

Tree Component - Open On Node Click

the tree component opens/closes when clicked on the little arrow on the left by default. is there a way to make it open/close if clicked anywhere in the node, like on the word etc..?

Open At Same Size
I have 2 movies (amovie.swf and bmovie.swf). When the amovie.swf window is scaled by the user, a button is revealed outside the home view. When this button is clicked, bmovie.swf loads onto layer 10. The problem is, as soon as this button is clicked the browser window goes back to it's original size (300w x 100h). I want it to stay at whatever size the user has scaled the window to.

Basically, I've made a small GUI that can be scaled by the user. The GUI is wider than it is tall (3:1) so when the user scales the graphic to full screen then they'll see the button that loads the bmovie. The bmoive is basically a screensaver style movie. Since the movie scales back to it's original size when the user clicks the button, what happens is the screensaver type movie loads but they can't see it all unless the window is rescaled again. I don't think the user should have to rescale it again.

I have the code to open the window as a blank. I can not figure out how to make it lets say 400 x 400 pixels. I also want the background to be in black. I am linking the buttons to .mov and .mp3 files. Can anyone help me?

How To Open SWF To Size Of SWF
I'm new to flash and have built a virtual phonebook for my company's intranet which draws it's data from Active Directory. The problem I'm having is that when I serve up the swf embedded in the html it opens the swf in it's formatted size, but the browser window that opens around it is full size with large borders around it. When I serve the swf I want it to open in it's designated size and I've been unable to do it.

If possible I would like the swf to open in the flash player instead of utilizing the browser plugin, just like a widget. Is there an easy way of doing that? If I click on the swf directly it opens up properly.

FreeMX In Proj., Need To Open Multiple Docs In One Click

i'm creating a self-running PC projector with several dowloadable documents. I've added in the freeMX script and it works beautifully! My question is, what should the script look like if I wanted one button to open multiple documents at once?

Currrently, the working script for my button reads like this:

...which works, but only opens one document.

So, I've tried this:

...with no luck in opening all three documents.

Am I missing something?

I saw this code on the tutorials but it was in relation to Random backgrounds. Woud anyone know if I could use this to do the following....

First time a button is clicked, I want it load and play Movie A, if the button is clicked again, load and play Movie B.

Can I control where it loads? Meaning to a movieclip holder or something?

k I don't know if this is action script, but, how can I make it so that when someone presses a button in the flash movie, a new window opens with a certain size ,which can't be changed ?
