Creating Multimedia CDs
Hi there

I am new at Flash, I would say even VERY new, I am still reading a book for Flash 5 so you can imagine I can't do more than the exercises that are shown there to illustrate each of the functions.

What I would most like to do ( which is why I started to learn ) is putting animation on the web pages and even more making multimedia CDs... that would look like slide shows of pictures accompanied by music and with some text coming in from time to time ( I have a lot of pictures from my holidays and I would like to put them all together like this, as well as personal pictures etc. )

Of course as you will realize, being a very beginner I can not even think of multimedia CDs... however from what I read and learn through these exercises in the book I could not get a hint yet about what such a CD would contain in terms of Flash. So, whoever knows how to do something like this please tell me what such a project needs as knowledge ( e.g. "first time you have to make the pictures as symbols... then you have to add them together so and so... then you have to add the music... then you have to export the movie... " things like that I hope you get what I mean ) Without those hints I feel like lost, I learn things that I don't see the use of, thiking of what I want to do... and I may have the surprise of finishing the book and then wonder "and now what do I do ?"

Multimedia Presentation... What Would You Use
Hello all,

I have this multimedia presentation to do and I definitely don't want to use power point..

So I thought about flash... or maybe director...

But I would prefer flash since I don't know director.

Can a flash movie be controlled by a wireless remote controller? Forwarding, rewinding or pausing the presentation as needed...

Some video will be involved too, would you still use flash?

Has anybody done this before? What are your advices? Would you use flash or director... or something else?

Protecting A Multimedia Cd
Hi everybody,
I'm working hard on building a multimedia CD using flash-xml interaction. It will be pretty complex, multi leveled, and will have a lot of various content (pictures, 360 panoramas, sounds and so on). Right now, as things are begining to take shape, I'm concerned about the protection of my final product. Is there any (fast) way to protect my cd as a whole, while keeping it functional for the user ? I'm pretty far from being a security expert but I don't think that leaving my files the way they are now and burning them on disc would be the right thing to do. Anyone can just browse through my xml files, decompile my .swf and God knows what else..
So what I'm hoping for is a solution to embed all of the files into one big .exe file that everybody can use but very few can break into.

A Multimedia Presentation
I am making a multimedia presentation for a high-school competition, and I thought to make it in flash. Is there another way of making it completely interactive?
Anyway, I think I'll do it in flash. The real question is – should I load external swf to the main file, or just load movie clips (it will have about 30 pages)? What should be the button code for loading an external one?

Data On A MultimEdia CD ...?

I'm thinking of a multimedia CD which contains a lot of data nearly 2 or 3 CD of data ...
I want to use a Flash based front End for this CD, and I want to have data Search too . How can I save the information on CD to be secure too ? an external XML file could be stolen easily . Encoding the XML file would take a long time to decode it in flash . and there is no Database system and there is no middle language like php or any other , because there is no server access . and I want this CD to be server independant ...
So what can I do ?
to search the data , I can have an Index file , but the security problem remains yet.

Multimedia Prez In Flash
hi, my name is darkefire, and i am new to flash.
thank you.

i need to create a multimedia presentation that combines:

1 - a short story
2 - detailed, hi rez still images
3 - over an hour of music

its basically going to look like the opening credits to a high budget anime film, and put on CDrom for publicity/distribution, or an animated website. i have a chance to try a couple of different programs to put it all together. Premiere, Lightwave, PowerPoint, and Flash. I have little to no experience with any of those (work primarily in Photoshop), and would like to know which i should best start pursuing tutorials and stuff in.

its a personal project. no big corporate sponsorship.

Ouestion On Multimedia For Commercials
Just wondering..
Ya know all this multimedia, graphics, and eye candy they use on commericals and tv shows. A good example would be a football game for the NFL, while the game is playing they will bring up the starting line up on the screen its all robotic
I have noticed on Discovery channel they have alot of it, looks just like flash
To get to my question, what programs do they use for that, I noticed I saw a orbitz commerical that was flash, so can you give a a link some info on the kind of programs they use.

Digital Microphone For Multimedia
Can anyone recommend a good quality digital microphone for recording interviews as well as music for multi-media productions? I need to upgrade from my basic model, and am looking for mikes at reasonable prices available in UK.

Multimedia Or Programming. What Is Your Opinion?
Ok I am going to keep the story short but I really want to know what your opinion is about this. Although I am not in the Flash industry YET! I like to think that my skills are not too bad. I was bashed by somebody today when I said that I want to develop games in Flash. This person said I am going all wrong that I should make a choice and either do the Multimedia/design aspect of Flash or the coding side. For one I am not that bad of an artist. Also my coding skills are getting much better. I personally want to develop games and try to make a decent living off of it. I am not trying to get rich, just make some money off of something that I truly enjoy to do. I personally believe that Flash is one of the few software out there that you can do both multimedia and program and with all the new exciting stuff that AC3 can do! Why would I want to just stick with multimedia?? What is your take on this?

Multimedia Content Problem
I have an annoying problem with Flash Player (I think it is, anyway), the compatibility with Quicktime and my Intel Mac.

An Example is YouTube. I can load and watch movies on the Power PC Mac (non-intel), not a problem. Each time I want to see FLV files on the MacBook Pro Intel the Flash Player breaks and I get the Q (Quicktime) with the question mark in the middle. I reload Flash player and it works. Shut the machine down, and the next time I start up and go to watch another FLV it is broken again, another reload. I don't have this problem anywhere else apart from the laptop.

Is this a Flash Player on intel Mac issue or is there some configuration I have missed. This happens in both Firefox and Safari, but not in Opera. Strange.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

It is Flash Player 9 I am loading into all browsers, but I can't seem to put my finger on the problem.

Flash Multimedia Presentation
Hi

I need to create a multimedia presentation that is able to link to and open pdf files and powerpoint files.
Is it posible to have these files open in a viewer, such as powerpoint viewer?
The presentations will have video and audio. This will be published onto dvd for PC, will have an auto run.
Will flash have the same stability as Director? I do not want to use an external program such as MDM zinc, everything will have to be done in flash, with a flash exe. I know how to link FLVs and use the getURL scrip to open files. I just need advice on what the proper workflow for this will be, and what the best way of doing this is.

Full-screen Multimedia Presentation?
I've created a 550 X 400 Flash movie to be burned onto a CD. I already know how to use the "autorun" file. How do I get the movie to project centered full-screen? More specifically, I would like the movie to play in the middle of a white background, rather than as a Flash projector window on the screen.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

One simple question:

If I publish project as projector for multimedia cdrom with flash mx and video embeded. Does user need to have standalone flash6 or browser plugin to use it, or are they allready integrated into my exe????

Flash MX Commands With Multimedia Builder?
Hi every body
Iâ€™m quite new to Multimedia Builder (the version Iâ€™m using now is 4.9.01). I would like to make some presentation in Flash MX then attach/ embed it to MMB.
The Flash file has some buttons, when clicked it will lead to certain HTML pages:
for example: button1 for page1.html, button2 for page2.html â€¦etc
I would like to have ONLY TWO pages in MMB, the first page loads the Flash animation then when we click a Flash button ( no matter whatever it may be), we shall reach the SECOND MMB PAGE which loads the appropriate HTML page: I.e. button1 for page1.html, button2 for page2.html â€¦etc
I have applied the Flash command : â€œget ULRâ€ but it opens a new window and leads to that page on the Browser WITHOUT closing the first MMB page.
In brief, I would like to ask you, in this case, HOW TO use Flash Action Script to control the MMB project to get the desired purpose.

Help With A Training Multimedia Package I'm Developing
Hi everyone,

I'm currently developing a training multimedia software package. It contains sub-sections on various topics. Is there any way within Flash that you can implement something which stops the user accessing certain sub-sections of the package/swf until they have finished reading previous sub-sections?

I.e. I dont want them to have the ability of being able to just access everything in one go as that isnt a successful learning tactic, I only want them to progress after they have read each section.

I'm thinking that I need to store some kind of data in a database or something which stores which sub-sections the user has been to and which they haven't.

Can anyone shed some light on whether this is possible, and if so, what areas/aspects of Flash would it involve please?

I have been asked to create a mutlimedia package, this package needs to be about my local town. It needs to give information on landmarks, shopping centres, historical places, famous sports teams etc.
The package needs to contain images, text information, videos and fun games.

I want the package to be abit like a website, so that it has links to catergories, (landmarks, shoppings centres etc) and then within these catergories you can click a link which will open a page about whatever was clicked on, with some information, images and maybe a video.

I am also looking for advice and/or guidence on how to import flash projects i have already created into this large flash package.
For example i would like one like on the main menu so say "gallery". this open a image gallery i have already made but it will open it within the package.
So i am wondering is it hard to put flash projects within others? would i just copy and paste the layers in?
Also i have created small games, including cross words which i would like to import into the package just like the gallery, would this be difficult? how would i go about doing this?

The player will also consist of some sort of interface which will include the relevant buttons needed to cycle through medium type/format and to control the playback of the file being played.

I will, of course, gratefully appreciate any help towards this issue as in this case, being a fairly novice Flash user, all forms of assistance will be of great value!

After Effects Animation > Multimedia For A Website
gday - not sure if this is the right place, anyway, i am doing some work for a friend who has developed some animation scripts or videos using adobe after effect.

he has asked me to come up with some ideas on how we could make, program, develop multimedia content from his after effects stuff for broadband content.

our initial ideas were to produce the anitmation in flash (or shockwave) and have 30 second flash clips.

but as he needs this information for a proposal (for funding), we have to come up with some other ideas on how we could develop broadband content using his animations.

so the floors open - all ideas are welcome!

some of our initial thoughts:
- flash animation
- mpg/avi videos
- ringtones (for mobile/cell phones)
- animations for 3G (although what language are these apps written in?)
- flash games
- other ideas?
