Converting Video To Flash - Can Anyone Do This?
Hello, I have a video which I want to change into a FLV file - in order to insert it on my Flash.

I can insert normal videos using my PC, but the Mac's in school don't like them (videos) at all - so I assume it must be FLV.

Problem is, I've looked around for programs to do this and found nothing of any real use - could someone do this for me or recommend a good program in order to do it?

Obviously I'll provide the video when I get an answer.

[CS3] Help Converting .WMV Video To Flash
I am working with Flash CS3 Professional.

Everytime I try to convert a wmv video into a swf it never plays it's proper size in the HTML document... even if I set the dimensions in Flash and the code itself it always displays much smaller dimensions then what I set them to be.

For example.. if I load up a .FLV file taken from a video that is 320x240 originally , after it's published out of Flash CS3 the video on the HTML it creates is always playing in a much smaller size than 320x240 even if the dinmensions are set in the code to 320x240..

So what the hell is going wrong??

Converting Flash To DVD Video
I created a flash promotional message for my company, originally very interactive, but the final version was a straight animation with an interactive FAQ at the end.

The execs liked it and now want a DVD version they can drop into DVD players and have looping in the employee breakrooms and such.

I know I can chop off the FAQ, but does anyone have any ideas how to best get this out to DVD format? I used multiple scenes and symbols and layered symbols within symbols. If I do a straight AVI export, only the main timeline gets exported.

Is there a way to do this without rebuilding my movie from the ground up?

Flash Video Converting Problem
hi all, I am having a problem with converting flv file in flash mx2004. The converteded flv file does not has sound when it play. Does anyone has this kind of problem before? And any open source out there for converting video file to flv format?? Please help. Thanks a lot for any advice.

Converting DCR Files To Flash Video
Is it possible to convert .dcr files into flv or something that can be playable in flash?

One of our content providers has given us a bunch of .dcr and .mov video files and I'd rather use flash than requiring users to download a bunch of plugins to see the videos.

Converting Image Sequences Into Video (inside Flash)
On my narrow search for transparent video, the only solution I could come up with was converting a movie into an image sequence, using photoshop droplets to erase certain areas, and then exporting with .PNG's.

So how can I get an image sequence (~500 frames) back into Flash, letting the images keep their transparency AND allowing the images to be played at 30 frames a second, so it still looks like a video.

If there's a better way to do this entirely, please, let me know.

Help Converting Swf To Video For A DVD
I'm a senior in High School and I need to send in animations on a DVD for some of the colleges I'm applying to. The thing is, I have no clue how to get my flash animations onto a DVD.

I have Flash MX, and I have been told to go to publish settings > convert in Flash 5 mode and to choose quicktime on the publishing list. But so far, this doesn't make a real video- it seems to still be a flash movie.

So please, how do I convert flash movies to video? And then to DVD. What free programs can make a full quality convertion?

It goes without saying I need to get this done before a deadline, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a project that i need to export to an avi or mov file. Does anyone know of any 3rd party exporters. I have tried swf2avi and the quality is a bit choppy. The export in the actual flash IDE doesn't work because i have MC's within MC's.

How can you take and uploaded video and convert it to a flv to display on a
web site?
I assume that this is what youTube does to convert all the uploaded videos
to flv's for us to watch. Hard to believe there is a team of people waiting
for a video to upload to instantly, manually convert it :)

Converting To Video
I want to export my movie in an .avi format, but in my experimenting, it appears that the only setting that looks good is 32 bit. I have a lot of fx that also only appear in 32. The problem is that the file size is huge- over 500 megs. Any suggestions?

I am a complete newbie to Flash, and pretty new to digital video as well...

I have been tasked with taking legally obtained video clips (in MANY different forms, DVD, VHS, quicktime, etc....) and converting them for use in a flash viewer on a website.

I don't even have Flash right now, but am trying to figure out where to begin.

1) Is there an effective way of ripping footage from a DVD to convert to flash?

2) When I obtain all of these clips, what is the best digital format to use to convert to .FLV files (which I have read is the file to use)?

3) Do I need to be concerned about a codec, or simply convert to flash?

4) I guess the biggest questions would be.... can you recommend any good tutorials or even text books. I'm fairly desperate for help

Does anyone know if it is possible to have a flash site stream a movie from a URL provided by the user and show the video in flash regardless of what format it is in originally? For instance www.someblablasite.com/myfunnyvideo.mov or .avi or .wmv or .ra or whatever they are called these days...

Is it at all possible? Im not expecting a working solution, i just need to know if it is possible. Youtube seem to manage it, and i saw a post asking something like this further down, but no one had answered. Even if the solution incorporates some other programming language, I still wanna know (i just... learn it)... =)

Hi All,

Recently my client supplied me videos in M2P format to be used in Flash project. I guess this format is MPEG2 which is used by HDTV or Broadcaster.

I was trying to convert it to flv format but My Flash 8 could not accept it for conversion. Ultimately I requested for MPEG1 format and it worked very well.

Is it that M2P format can not be converted to flv or am I missing something?

Preparing The Video Before Converting To FLV
When transferring video from a vidcam, is there a particular video format that results with the best compression when converted to FLV?

Thus far, I've had great success with AVI. An uncompressed 200mb AVI file was compressed to a 4mb FLV file (using Cinepak codec).

However, when I tried converting a 3.5mb MPEG file, it became a 5mb FLV!

Note: I'm taking into consideration that the MPEG file's dimensions are slighty bigger than the AVI used. Nonetheless, it's suprising that instead of shrinking in file size, an MPEG-to-FLV conversion actually bloats.

Is it safe to say that AVI is considered the best video format before it is converted to FLV?

Converting A PDF To A Flash FLA File Without Converting To An Image First?
Basically, I'm building a digital catalogue that runs off a CD and uses a Flash 'page turning component' to display the pages. Certain pages will have links that use Flash's Fscommand call to open Word and Excel documents.

Has anyone got any bright ideas of how to Convert a PDF to a Flash FLA file without converting to an image first?

I know I can open a PDF in Photoshop, save as a PNG or JPG and then import this into Flash, however the quality isn't brilliant. If you use a hi-res image, then you get a hi-res file size...

Currently, the best way I have found, is to open the PDF in Illustrator, then export it as a SWF. Illustrator converts all text to shapes and you end up with a small SWF, yet great quality when displayed in larger sizes. As I'm currently using a page turning flash component that loads SWF files, I need the quality to be good for the 'Zoom' function.

I've found an Illustrator script that will do the hard work via a 'batch' process, so I can take a 100 page PDF and convert the whole lot to 100 SWF files while I drink tea and 'look busy' and read a magazine, but the problem I have is that I need to add a layer of buttons to several of the SWF files to add a little functionality....

I do have a SWF to FLA decompiler which does a good job, however because Illustrator turns everything into shapes, the decompiler does the same and you end up with thousands of files in the library.... Plus there are a lot of error messages when the file is first loaded...

Many layers are masked, (for some reason without a fill), so if you publish the decompiled file straight away, you just get a blank file. Once you go through and fill the masks needed, it shows when you publish, but this really is a lot of work and I've had a few pages that show when you open the SWF file, but don't show when the SWF is called into the page turning file.... Hmmm....

So in short, I'd like to take a PDF and convert it to a FLA file, add a layer of buttons and publish as a SWF file....

Anyone got any 'Pearls of Wisdom'?

[F8] Problem Converting SWF Into Video Format
I have a swf with a video in it that I created. I want to export the swf as an avi from Flash 8 and when I do, the video used in the movie doesn't show. I have tried at least 10 different settings and nothing has worked.

I think the best way to go it for me to convert the swf into a video file (avi, mpg, or avi) and I assume it wouldn't alter the video being used in the swf.

sorry theres hardly traffic on the Flash 4 forum - and i need help quite quick : , so i came here.

i'm converting a Flash 5 script to Flash 4 script.

MCscripts - generic actionscripts
MCmasknav - targeted MC for x, y positions
button - gives according x,y coordinates calling the scripts in MCscripts

Flash 5 - i used function rolloverscript.
in MCscripts:

Let me explain this 2 you... i "jumped" flash 5 when learning, so i learn how to use Flash MX but i don't know anything bout flash 5... The case it's that i've made an sliding efect (allright..i took it from a site and changed it 4 my purposes) on Flash MX but i have to publish it as Flash 5, but in the Flash 5 the "sliding" doesn't work!! I know there's a way to convert this ActionScript onto a Flash 5 compatible...so any help will be great...any ideas too.

this is going to a perl file then it should bring the results back into the flash itself. haveing a hard time getting it to write from flash to the perl then to the poll.txt file.

Converting From Flash 5
I started making a website when 5 was the big thing, but have since changed to MX. I've been working on this site with out a problem since then, but I guess it's been saving and publishing as a 5 file. When I tried to add an MC with some actionscript that 5 didn't support, MX let me know. So I saved the file as MX and started publishing it with player 6. Well when I publish with player 6 nothing works. The buttons only have the script,

and that should be supported in both 5 and 6. So I'm kind of at a loss as to what's happening. If I publish in 5 it still works, but then my new MC doesn't because it's not supported.

Converting From Flash V8 To V7
First, let me say that I know next to nothing about actionscript. I really really need help. I am an instructional designer who, with the help of a Flash developer, created a tutorial for our client. We delivered the project in Flash v. 8. The client has come back and said that they need it in Flash v. 7. Unfortunately for me, the Flash developer has since quit. I am now left with a demanding client and no developer. Here is the problem. When I try to publish in v.7, I get the following error:

Type mismatch in assignment statement: found Void where TextField is required

Avi To FLV Converting Using Flash 8
I'm trying to convert an avi file that works perfectly to a FLV file using Macromedia Flash 8.

The info for the avi file is the following:

Codec: a52
Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 256 kb/s

The FLV file is trying to converted to the following:

Video Codec: On2 VP6
Audio Codec: MPEG Layer III (MP3)
Audio data rate: 96 kbps (Stereo)

After convertion the video looks fine but there is no audio.

I tried selecting another audio codec on Flash 8 but the only codec showing is MPEG Layer III (MP3). And its gray out. No option to select something else.

Do I need to install another codec so I can listen to the audio after converting?

I'm trying to convert a flash movie to .mov or .avi or something that will work on youtube. I've tried a few conversion programs but they either convert only the sound, or don't work at all! I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

Converting To Flash
I there any possible way to convert this menu to flash? Go to http://rmv17.topcities.com/ to see the menu. The actual pictures do not show up, but you get the idea when you click on a link and sublinks show up under it. The reason I want to do this is because if I wanted to change something in the menu, I would have to change every page which is time consuming.

Maybe there is another way to approach it?
I am open to all suggestions.

Flash Converting Help
Hello all, new to the forums, long time Flash user. Too lazy to ugprade, but I use ol' fashioned Flash 5, and I'd like to convert my Flash movie to a .mpeg, or .avi, or .mov, anything I can, now I know Flash can covnert, and I've tried countless trial programs, but the thing is, when it converts, its always such a big file! I mean, I always see Flash movies people make on Youtube converted from a .SWF and they're about 7 megs tops, I made a soundless 175x100 video and it was still 200 Megs! I don't care for the quality, it's going on my celphone, I just need to know if there's a good way to compress converted Flash movies so they're not gargantuan files.

Converting Flash 5 Movie To Avi
Hi everyone,

I just completed a flash movie that is going to be used on cd and the web. Looks great on the web, no problems.

For the CD component, the program I am using to create the autorun requires that the intro movie be in avi format. When I export my movie to avi, portions of my movie dissappear (movie clips are not showing, only animations done right on the stage) and the sound litterally gets chopped into 588 pieces, so when I play the movie in windows media player, it sounds all broken!

Heeelp! My nice movie has turned into scrap! I'm in a lot of trouble if I can't get this working... ideas?
