Flash :: Copies Of Flash Buttons - Edit Each One? How To Edit Multiple Copied Buttons

Help Needed To Edit Buttons

I have downloaded an attachment, it has a button menu created with flash. Its having 4 buttons, but I need six, so I have duplicated the buttons and edited the text. But the problem is, it has a rollover animation. Which when clicked stops, from the buttons I copied the two also stops the animation when clicked on the duplicated buttons. Please help me, I am writing down the scripts, may that help you..

Getting Edit Path Of Text In Buttons Using Actionscript?
Dear All,

I wanted to change the colour of text within buttons, but could not get the name to use with the text object scripts - using the instance name of the button would not work.

Someone suggested using the debug:list objects to get the instance name. This worked, however should one naviagte around from screen to screen the instance names change. Not good! Also hand doing this for each button would not be efficient.

So is there a way of actionscript getting the target path of the text object within a button?

Save And Edit Buttons Cannot Work In Calendar
I need help from experts.

You allow to key in the reminder in the calendar just need to double click on the day of date you want.

But save and edit button got some errors now.

Problems:
1) Cannot save after edit
2) The date is wrong when you edit the reminder

How To Undock/ Move The Edit Panel/ Edit Toolbar
How do i move (drag) the Edit Panel. The Edit Panel is at menu:
Window > Toolbar > Edit Bar.

Why i ask this, is i find this panel useless. But hiding this panel makes me unable to see the exact location where i am from the _root after doubleclicking some time on instances. (suppose i'm at _root.button_btn.movieclip_mc.dynamicTextField.txt and i want to know whether i'm at this address:
_root.button_btn.movieclip_mc.dynamicTextField.txt )

Flash 5 Edit Center Of Multiple Symbols
In Flash 5 I'm trying to edit the center of multiple symbols on different layers (i.e. upper leg, lower leg, foot) so they can all move as one and still move individully (like a bending leg and foot in a walk cycle for example).

I use Modify>Transform>Edit Center to change the center of a single symbol, but when multiple symbols are selected and I use Modify>Transform>Edit Center, the Edit Center option is greyed out.

[CS3] Edit Multiple Symbols
Hello guys, this one would help me out tremendously!

When I edit a symbol and want to start editing another symbol the first one is closed from the Edit bar. How can I change the settings so that I can have two symbols appear at the same time in the Edit bar, allowing me to switch between them with just one easy click?

Edit Multiple Frames
Although not a flash newbie, here's a dumbah newbie question...

For flash files that are utilized in multiple media, say, in this week's case, plasma tv pixel size, and a size that can be viewed on a reg old monitor so biz owner can edit & approve, I always create the file in the final output size, in this case the pixel dimentions for plasma, and then half it in a new file for my guy to view via web to give changes or thumbs up. (So sick of 4th round edit comments like, we need to remove that header we just HAD TO HAVE in edit 2)

I half it by copying each layer in each scene, place in new file, paste in a new scene, select edit multiple files, select all layers, then drag that doohickey up the top to make sure the entire timeline is selected and CTRL-ALT-S 50%. This way seems to keep all the elements together, and none of the animation tweens go wonky. And VOILA! 600 steps later, I can send to my OCD customer. Actually it's not so bad, takes less an hour with 18 scenes ~100-300 frames ea, but as you guys know, the more time saved is more time I can surf ebay. I mean work on another project. Or blab overmuch in a post on ultrashock.

long story short (too late) HERE"S THE QUESTIONs:

any quickie way to get that doohickey to quickly select all active timetime in edit multiple frames?

any quickie way to resize a file without destroying all the #$@#( elements in each scene?

does this post make me look fat?

and I will pass out from stupidity if someone says there's some kind of magic global resize. and I don't mean CTRL-J dimensions.

Enabling Your Clients To Edit These Xml Files Or Txt Files In An Easy To Edit Format
Okay so this is an issue i've faced since day one and am growing tired of not having an ideal solution for. I've learned to create files that can be updated via xml or simple .txt to make the updating process easier, but how do you gurus out there bridge the gap by enabling your clients to edit these xml files or txt files in an easy to edit format like your basic cms... but except it would be cms that would update the xml or txt file and then in turn update your swf file.

I'm sure you guys out there rely on many different solutions but i'm just looking for some enlightenment on the different ways to accomplish this and what i could possibly do to be pointed in the right direction.

Edit Multiple Frames--Argh
I'm a very experienced Flash developer, but I have never had any success using Edit Multiple Frames. I've followed the instructions, read tutorials, and fiddled with it endlessly, and still only have success using it about 1 in 50 attempts! I have no reason why it works sometimes and not others. I've tried Flash 5 and MX, on both Macs and Windows. Could someone who has consistent success with this feature please enlighten me with very specific steps you use? The steps I usually use are:

--Turn on Always Show Markers
--Turn onion-skinning on
--Turn Edit Multiple Frames on
--Set frame markers to the first and last frames I want to affect
--Select all layers (either Select All or highlight all layer names)
--Lock layers I don't want to move
--Click and drag the selected art on screen to a new location.

Most of the time, all this does is move the objects in the frame I'm currently in, while leaving all other frames the same. What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Edit Multiple Frames Feature.. Where Is It?
I need to re-size my swf one way i have been told how to do this is by useing the edit multiple frames feature. But for the life of me i caunt find the button is it somewhere on the time line? i have pressed all the buttons and caunt find it.

Edit Multiple Images In The Library At Once?
Does anyone know a js script or trick to editing the properties of multiple images in the library at once?

E.g I have a 50 count image sequence in my library (all png) - and I want to set them all to the "use document default" JPG setting - without having to click on every single one individually.

I've had to do this before in the past, but it's becoming like mundane Data Entry more than Development. I like to experiment with different settings on say, the first 10, middle 10 and last 10 files in the sequence, being able to highlight all the files and right click to set properties - seems like it would be a logical feature, but it's not there in Flash MX 2004.

There was a script floating around that removed the "Smoothing" switch from all the images in the library, but I can't seem to find it. I'd like to take a closer look at it and see if I can mod it to do what I need..

If anyone knows of a tool, ui enhancement/component or whatever that allows editing multiple image settings, please let me know!

Copied Buttons
I have a very basic understanding of the flash timeline, with less of the actions coding. I've bought a template from Template Monster and now I'm finalizing some tweaks to it. It's all ready to go except for the buttons.

I was able to get one button to work exactly like I wanted, so I copied that button onto 9 separate layers to get 10 buttons (all the same at this point). Once in their places and tweens set, I thought I could change out the type quite easily to label the new buttons. I also thought I could change the destination url easily. This does not seem to be so easy.

Two Questions:
1.All the buttons change when I make any changes to one, and I can't figure out how to change just the text. It seems like the button copied onto the new layer, but the symbol area of that layer is empty. How do I get these buttons to act independent from one another?

2.To change the destination url action script, I've looked in the button frames, the symbol the button is animated in, and the main timeline. The only actions I can find are stop(); which are in the symbol animation. When I try to open actions for the button, there is a message that says "cuurent selection cannot have actions applied to it." Where do I go to find this action script?

Editing Copied Buttons
I have made one button and made copies of the same button 5 times to form 6 buttons total that look exactly alike. There is one problem. Whenver i try to make one change to one button they all change. I tried the Break Apart option, but then my button goes back to a regular graphic. Is there anyway to edit these buttons without going through each one and breaking them apart and making them all buttons again?Please help......

When I do this change, the swf file is showing incorrectly.

When I Change the text on the flash from From “Chicago Salsa Congress – World Tour Chicago” to “Chicago World Salsa Congress”,
the file is displaying incorrectly, Iam freaked out as to why a small text change is corrupting the display.

I have attached the file. if someone can fix this issue or tell me why a text change is causing a bad display, I would appreciate it.

Edit In Flash Gallery
The problem in the picture gallery is when the images are more than 10 then it doesn't show exact total of pages. But when we click next it shows Page 2 | 1 makes not any sense. Anyone can tell me what to change in the Actionscript so that it shows properly like Page 1 | 2 or Page 2 | 2.

Flash Templates -best Way To Edit
I have been asked to build a website for my in-laws' business. She has picked out a template. The one that my MiL really wants to use is built in Flash. It's from Template Monster i think. Is flash the only thing available to edit the template? She only wants me to change the pictures and text, not the functions or transitions, music etc. She just wants it customized with the business info.

As noted, I am a newbie to flash. I have used all the Macromedia apps in the past except for Flash. So the interface I am hoping should be somewhat familier.

Edit/save Xml With Flash
If I create a form in flash that gets its info from an xml file, can i then allow the user to edit the info that is loaded and save it back to the same xml file? They type in their changes and hit a 'save' button. It overwrites the file automatically. Basically I want to avoid doing a backend DB by using the XML. If it is possible, how easy is it? I am fairly new to AS. Just point me in the right direction and I can figure it out though. Thanks for any help you can give.

Do You Edit Movies By Using Flash ?
I created a small movie and I convert it to flv. I would like now to add captions by using flash. It is very easy to do, but flash software is very slow since the movie is 1013 frames long.

AS2 Code Edit To AS3 In Flash
Hi community! I am using a book to help me learn flash and AS3 but the new book I have is awesome but uses Flash CS3 and codes in AS2. Can someone assist me with this short bit of code to change it to AS3 format?

First frame has this code below:

I am sure that the first frame needs to have the var in front of variable. Then I think the variable needs pauseAnim:Object or something but I have no idea. Any help would be great.

ok I just load data from textfile into my flash file..so my problem is..how is it in flash I have to code so that I can edit the loaded data from textfile and then when I submit it'll update the data in textfile...of course I'm using php for writing in textfile...Currently I load the data into listbox from my textfile.....

XML Edit For Flash Menu
I've seen flash menus that are actually controlled by XML files. Does anyone know what steps i need to go through to take an existing flash menu and give it these properties?

Problem is, I don't work in flash and constantly have to ask for updates to the navigation menu which can all be alleviated by utilizing XML but we're not sure how to get it accomplished.

Is There Any Way To Edit Bitmaps In Flash?
I am editing a flash file that was created by someone else. The animation uses bitmaps that were NOT converted to symbols. I need to edit these bitmaps. When I right-click them in the library, "edit with..." is grayed out so I'm unable to edit them in an external program (see my other post).

Is there then at least some way to edit these bitmaps in Flash?

Edit Flash W/out Raw Files?
A friend of a friend had someone design his business website, but for whatever reason they're not doing maintenance AND didn't leave any raw files. I'm not sure what the behind-the-scenes story is... what the problem for ME is, I've been asked to make a few corrections and edits to the site.

There is a piece that is Flash 7 with a wrong link that I need to fix. But I don't have the raw flash files...

Any thoughts or ideas on how I can edit this link without those raw files? I've played around with Flash a litte bit, back under version 5 I think it was, so am definitely NOT an experienced user or designer!
