Flash :: Copy+Paste In A Flash Movie.

Can't Copy & Paste Calculator Movie?
I'm trying to embed the Ultimate Calculator (attached) into a flash file, but if I copy all the library items into my library and then copy and paste all the layers, I keep getting errors when I publish it. I thought it might be because I'm putting it into a movie clip, so I tried copying and pasting everything (library & layers) into a completely blank movie, but I still get errors when I publish it?!?!

If I publish the UltimateCalcV1.fla file, it works fine??!

I would just use loadMovie, but this has to go into an LMS where the entire flash file has to be one swf, so I've got to embed this...

Any ideas??

I guess I could select it, set a var and attach a MC based on that var.

My problem is that I want to apply colour, rotation to the MC then copy and paste it retaing these properties applied to it since the movie has started.

Flash MX: Copy,then Paste, Then Crash
Having a very bizzare and odd problem with Flash MX. (not 2004 version).

This is driving me crazy, I can't figure out what is causing Flash MX to crash!!!

We have a pictured opened in Fireworks, then when I go to copy and paste it in Flash MX, flash quickly closes and exits, doesn't give me any error message or anything, just closes out!

I've looked all over the net for a fix, but this problem hasn't occured I don't think to very many people.

What I've tried already:
-Uninstall, re-install a half dozen times - still doesn't work
-Made sure flash properties under "edit" for "clipboard" size was maxed out
-RAM has tons of space as far as usage/processes running in task manager
-Brand new computer with fast spec - Windows XP with all updated SP's
-used the Flash MX macromedia updater to update flash

-All the other studio programs work fine, except this little annoying copy, paste feature. I know I could just use import feature in Flash, but copy and paste works better for what I need.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Flash Copy / Paste Function
Hi mxers,

I just think it can't be done but no cost to ask. One of my office-mate asked me several time to find a solution to that problem :

- users want to copy and paste at anytime a FlashMX app content from this app to whatever can handle image content : MSWord, mail app, etc...

For now I just can tell them to make a screen copy and to cut margins with an image editor to obtain the right content. I can't see any way to make it with Flash itself. How could it access clipboard ? Any clue by your side ?

Why Can't I Copy And Paste From Illustrator To Flash?
I have this silly but frustrating problem. I've drawn a series of objects in Illustrator and have copied and pasted many of them into separate frames in Flash and all of a sudden they won't paste. There are 3 objects I'm trying to paste onto each frame and 2 of them will paste, but 1 won't. I don't have anything locked and I have no clipping masks in Illustrator. They will copy and paste in Illustrator. I've tried copy and pasting them separately, I've tried opening a new Flash document and pasting, I've tried restarting my computer. Does this sound like just another freak thing or does anyone have any ideas? Is there some keyboard shortcut I might have bumped in Flash to change some hidden setting...? But then why is it just 1 of the 3 objects that won't paste?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to “paste” pictures into an online flash configurator from the Clipboard? I am building a furniture configurator and I would like Users to be able to copy swatches off of material suppliers’ websites and then paste jpgs, bitmaps, or gifs into a design configurator. Drag & Drop capability would probably work as well.

Unable To Copy And Paste In Flash MX 2004
For some reason, I can no longer copy and paste anything in Macromedia Flash MX 2004 version 7.0.0.470. I can copy any object (text, image, or symbol) but it will not give me the option to paste it anywhere, including on the same layer. I can copy and paste text, but only within text boxes. The option to paste in the edit menu is always blanked out.

I've tried reinstalling Flash with no luck. Is there some setting I need to reset?

Problems Doing Copy/paste From Flash To Illustrator
This is a problem I've had since Flash 8: when doing a copy/paste from Flash to Illustrator (on Windows), there's extreme degradation of the artwork, sometimes to the extent that no actual art is even copied. All the curves seem to be approximated with straight line segments, but at some point it just seems to give up even trying, leaving an unidentifiable blob for most of the object. As I said, sometimes it doesn't even copy anything at all -- all that shows up after pasting into Illustrator is an empty group.

The weird thing is that this process worked fine in Flash MX 2004. What could possibly have changed? I was sure with CS3 it would be fixed, but it wasn't. I haven't tried Illustrator CS4 yet, but copying from Flash CS4 to Illustrator CS3 produces the same problem.

I've seen a few other reports of this problem in other forums, but I've encountered it on every install of Flash and Illustrator I've tried (admittedly, all Windows machines, but three or four different ones, both XP or Vista). Can anyone here confirm that this problem exists or doesn't exist on their computer? To test it, create a piece of art with plenty of curves and several colors in Flash, then copy and paste it into an illustrator document.

If this problem is as widespread as my experience seems to indicate it is, why hasn't it been fixed in two major revisions of the software? Is Adobe even aware of it? If not, how can I let them know? I'm getting majorly sick of having to deal with it. Illustrator used to be a much larger part of my animation process, but now I can't use it how I really want to because of the bad copy and paste functionality.

Flash CS3 - Lagging When Copy/paste Text HELP

This is a first post for me here so hopping to get a response soon please!
In a position where I need some urgent help - we have a large flash site we have nearly finished developing but Flash CS3 is starting to present some serious lagging problems.

When we copy/paste text from another location - i.e. internet browser or MS word, the timeline experiences major lagging issues when attempting to use the slidder.

It's killing us in teh final stage and I really want to erradicate the issue - Have tried CS3 on XP and Vista and still get the same problem. Have also tried a new .FLA and same thing..

Call Windows Commands (cut, Copy, Paste) From Flash
Hi,
We have an input text field into which the user can type in the text.
He also has options to make the text bold,italics,underline,bulleted etc. The Flash application looks like a text editor with all the buttons in place.

We hv placed 3 seperate buttons for cut, copy and paste functionalities. The problem we are facing right now is

1. If the user copies the text using the button COPY (flash application button provided by us) and tries to paste the text using Ctrl+V command (Normal Windows Paste command),we get the text that was cut using the Windows Cut command or Copy command and not the text that was cut using the flash button. Is there a way to invoke Windows command in Flash?

2. While cutting or copying text using Windows command(Ctrl+X or Ctrl+C), and trying to paste the same using Windows command Ctrl+V we are not able to get the format.
For eg., I try to cut the text "rom" which is bolded and then when i try to paste the text format is lost.That is, the text is not bold.
Is there a way to handle this?

3. In Flash, we have options for introducing bullets in the text format. Is there any way to implement ordered listing?(Numbered)

Now this is confusing. I'm working on a frame from webpage page and when I try and copy an image from one frame and try and paste it ontop of the one Im working on it keeps disappear beneath it and so remains hidden. I tried moving the images back and forth using the MODIFY/ARRANGE option but it refuse to be pasted at the front. Hope all that makes sense,I cant explain it any other way but basically Im trying to paste an image ontop of one thats already there. :S

Hi Folks,

I think I've encountered a bug with the macintosh player. Could someone else test the attached code and tell me if I'm crack or not and if you can think of a clever solution.

The code is quite simple. Two text boxes and a button on screen. Type text in text field one, click save, the text is displayed in text field two.

Typing in text by hand in textbox one works fine. If you cut and paste text into text field 1 from say word and then click the button any line breaks in the pasted text are erased. This was tested on mac.

Ok, so in flash when i copy and paste a button, then edit a caption on the duplication, it changed on the origianal aswell.

Is there a way to copy and paste and edit the new button without the original changing?

Don't ask me why, but I constructed my movie on two different files.... Now I'd like to put some of the files in my movie 1 copy them, and paste them in my movie 2... I'd like to know if it's possible to copy entire layers that way... take one layer copy it and paste it in another movie?

or any other way to mix the two maybe

i mark the text i want to copy....then go to my flash make a text box...i make sure the the curser is ready for typing, and then i try to paste my text in the textbox, but without any luck.

WHY?????

I used flash MX for awhile, primarily for educational applications in foreign language. I've written several quiz type templates that use arrays. My arrays are often very large. In the past I have typed my arrays in word and cut and pasted them into my templates. Recently I upgraded to MX 2004. When I paste the arrays they are not recognized by MX 2004, but if I type them directly into MX 2004 they are recognized. Anyone have an explanation?? I would rather not type them directly into the MX 2004 action script panel because the type is too small. Thanks.

I've created a button with a dropdown menu. Now, i also want to finish the rest of the button ie. about me, gallery, contact and blah blah blah. The thing is, when i copy the original (HOME) button that i just made, and paste it, then when i change the text of a newly pasted button, it also changes the original. The question is, is there any other way that i can finish the rest of the buttons without going through the whole process i did with the HOME button? Thanks in advance.

Hi! I have a half finished Flash that I would like to use as Scene 2 of another flash I am currently working on. What's the fastest way of doing this? I tried "copy and Paste frames" which probably was completely stupid, because the a box appeared that says "One or more library items already exists in the document. Do you want to replace?" If I click yes, Scene 1 is very messed up. If I click no, scene 2 is very messed up. So, copy and pasting didn't work. At all. Any suggestions?

I have created a button with some certain effects (for example button1). Now I want to make some more buttons (for example button2, button3...) with the same effects. I copy the first button, then paste. When I edite the name of the pasted button from "Button1" into "Button2", the first button name was also changed into " Button2". Why Cant I Copy/paste Frames?
I am running on a Mac (OS 10.3.9) and cannot use the keyboard shortcuts to copy/paste frames. When I try, the edit menu heading flashes but nothing happens however if I have any menu dropped down when I hit the shortcut it works.

All other shortcuts work fine and it works if I select it through edit>timeline>copy frames.

Have never had much call for it in the past but am now working on a project where it would be REALLY nice not to have to keep going through the menus.

Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone suggest a way to sort it out?

COPY/PASTE Actionscript
Newbie to Flash 8 PRO here, MAC OSX.

I am trying to learn Flash through some online tutorials and reading any documentation I can get.

Several tutorials call for me to COPY and PASTE the actionscript.

I have tried and cannot get this to happen.

I realize I must create a new layer, an action layer, named actions.
I then, select this layer, select the first frame, and click command key to access the pull down menu and click on ACTIONS to access the ACTIONS Panel. So far so good.

I then go to my code, select it, Copy....go back to the actions panel, I see the blinking cursor, I paste and nothing.

Please, what might I be doing wrong? All the tutorials I have attempted require pasting some type of actionscript. I know this must be basic but what am I doing wrong?

I am new at this, on OSX w/Flash 8 Pro.

I am in the process of doing as many Online Tutorials as possible.
Many of them call for me to Copy and paste exisitng Actionscript to my Actions Panel.

Can someone PLEASE define the steps to doing this.

I can get the script pasted to a .as file but how do I get it to the Actions Panel itself. Every tutorial specifies JUST Copy and Past to your Actions window. Whelp...that JUST doesn't work.
