CRAPPY ATTACH MOVIE ...what The Heck
What the heck man?! I was in a bind yesterday. A customer needed the project finished yesterday. Well I was using attachmovieclip stuff, but when I would attach it, and preview, it would skew the attached movie...

This made me so mad! There were no other post about the issue. So luckily I was able to find an alternative to it. Why was this doing that???
But I want to know for future task.

2 Issues: Un-looping A Movie Symbol And Crappy Sound
i searched for these but the search function didnt work.

My issues are: is there a way to make a movie symbol NOT loop. i want this small movie in my main movie to play ONCE.

How is better sound achieved? i tried both wav and mp3 and the results were poor. i also played around with the audio settings but no luck!

can anyone help? it would be REALLY appreciated

Textfield:OnChange - Random Letter Settles On Entered Letter - Impossible?
Hey guys, is this possible?

I've got an inputfield.
OnChange Event Handler.
When someone types a letter, i want the letter to become 0, then 1, then 2, and so on until 9 and then i want the letter to be there.

And when they click on another letter, same effect happens.

so at the end if i typed, "testing", each letter scrolls 0-9 like a roll dial and settles on the letter typed.

What i've managed to do is make it work, but if i type at normal speed and not slow, i end up getting something like:

t32t43g

any ideas?!

Animated Text - Writing Letter By Letter
Help! I need to write a simple flash animation that will 'write' the words Admiral Inn on the screen (in a script font) so it appears as if some invisible hand is writing it. Does anyone know how to easily do this?

Fading Text In Letter By Letter With Actionscript?
Hi people!

Does anybody know if it is possible to animate text via actionscript.

For example, I would like to do that good old favourite of having text fade in letter by letter.

However, breaking apart every letter and indivdually fading them in one after the other not only takes a hell of a long time, but also (with large pieces of text) would cause huge file sizes.

I thought of masking, but I can't seem to get a soft edge on the mask to enable me to make it look like it is fading in.

Sooo.....

Does anybody know how to do this via actionscript,

OR...

Does anybody know how to get the soft edge on a mask to be able to create a similar effect.

Making Text Appear Letter By Letter?
Hi

I'm new to the world of Flash, so I hope this question isn't too 'easy' or complex!

BAsically what I want to do is to have some text appear (or fade in) letter by letter; but without chaning size, colour, shape, position etc...

Is there some piece of code that will let me do this? I know I can achieve this effect using loads of masks, but i don't really want to have to do that with each individual letter!

Any hel[p would be great, thanks!

PS. Think of the telewriter on BBC Grandstand; that sort of effect

I´m looking for a text effect that loads the text thru xml, the text appears letter by letter, coming from and _x and _y making a trail of letters and forming the phrase.

they work fine but how to change the letter ( C ) to whatever letter for CD rom drive so I can publish them on the CD rom ???

Crappy JPGs
I've been having trouble making actual pictures look good on flash. Whether it be a .jpg, .gif, .png. It always looks very jagged and poor no matter what quality I set the publishing to. I even set the sizes proportionally to what the end dimensions would be so I don't have to scale them at all in flash.

I was wondering if there are any tips or techniques to making photographs look as crisp and clear on my site as it does on my desktop.

Why Does My Published Swf Look All Crappy?
Hi, I've been maken an animation and it looks and goes exactly how I want it to in Flash MX but when I publish the animation to a swf the txt isn't fading anymore and its all pixaly.

Animations Look Crappy
Hi, everytime I'm done with an animation... after I save it as GIF it looks really low-quality, the .swf looks good, but the GIF animation I host and put as my signature on this other forums looks really low-quality. Does anybody know why? Thanks alot for any help!

Fix My Crappy Code
Im working on setting up a photogallery for personal use. Ive figured out how to move the photos from one location to another. The problem is its takes a whole lot of code just for one photo. What I want to do is minimize the amount of code needed for each photo to go from point a to point b. Im sure theres someway to make a function that each photo could call to simplify things, But I really dont have the knowledge to do so.

If anyone could please check out the FLA file and let me know what I would have to do to simplify things that would be great!

Can't Preload - Pictures Look Crappy
I can't have a preloader or anything before my Main Scene, or timeline. If I put anything before this, the pictures over the whole flash site look crappy, and pixelised.

Unless, I make the flash project one frame long, (where it stops;(), so that all the main information can come up), it turns my pictures into crap.

I have my flash project only one frame long now, but there is no preloading, so it's really slow in the beginning.

I have tinkered with all the publishing settings, and each individual picture properties, and these are not the problems. My pictures have to be in the first frame of the flash project, otherwise they look like shunt.

Has anybody heard, or seen this before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Simulate Crappy Old Computer?
Anyone know of a tool that simulates an older computer? Would be so useful when developing resource-heavy flash apps to see how they run on older machines and I've yet to find anything that does this.

why does my dynamic text look really different from static text and look crappy??
It also look skinnier then all static text.

how come flash (and fireworks) can't render aliased fonts properly? like photoshop or any web browser can? i'm talking specifically about standard fonts like verdana and arial at small sizes. (these are used on the majority of websites out there and hence become quite important)

instead of "hello i am joao" i always have to deal with "he ll o i am j oa o". what a waste of time it is to break up my text fields into characters and manually reposition them according to rewrites imported from photoshop.

are there anybody working for adobe around, that might tell me how to fix this? or if adobe plans to fix this?

Sending Variables With IEs Crappy Work Around?
ok so we've all seen the thing on IE where you have to click on the embeded object to activate it. It sucks. So now we're all using the Javascript that macromedia provided (or something similar).
My question is this:
We used to be able to send variables to the SWF file through the embed. For example

PHP Code:

src="flash.swf?variable1=2"

So I was wondering if there was a way to do something similar with the new IE work arounds?

Images Look Crappy When Adding Preload-scene
I have an imagesequence that should be exported with the swf in highest quality. Works great on it self and all, no problem whatsoever, UNTIL....

I added a preloader in a scene

Now when I export, the images look all crappy! Almost bitmap-like. I swear I've checked the properties of all images and the export-settings and all that.

Can someone help me with this problem?

if you take the file in photoshop and do a hundred of ctrl+J/ctrl+E on the layer, you will see that there are, in fact, pretty nice colors in the image.

i´d like to make the text field appearing one line at a time, and when it reaches the last line, the letters of the last line appears one after another. Is it possible to be done?

Adjusting Xscale And Yscale Makes Jpegs Looking Crappy?

I am doing some dynamic adjustments of _xscale and _yscale of images to create a zooming in effect... However, it looks really crappy instead of smoothly zooming in... if you pay attention to the straight lines it appears like it's moving around like waving or something... weird...

Layering Flash = Transparent Mode = Crappy Firefox Performance?
Hi Guys,

I am trying to layer severel different Flash files and ordinary divs in HTML using the z-index property.

The only way I can get it to work properly is if the wmode is set to transparent, in all other instances the Flash objekt will always layer itself on top of regular HTML:
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />

However, using this wmode makes the Flash file performe extremely bad in Firefox. 5% CPU usage in IE, 50% in Firefox.

Is there a workaround to this problem?
Either being a fix for Firefox or another way to layer the windows?

3d Letter Spin
I am trying to make a 3d letter (G) spin 360 degrees, and I can't figure out how to do this in flash. So, i created it in swift 3d and works perfectly, except it adds 500kb to the file size, way too much! Does anyone know any alternative methods that wouldn't take forever to do?

Editing A Letter
I have created a flash that helps write apology letters. It is at http://reteaming.com/responsibility

You type in answers to questions and using your answer the program designes the letter for you. It's all quite straght forward, mostly input text, set variable, and print. Now I would like to give the user the option of editing the letter before he prints it but I haven't got the faintest idea of how to do that. I need an input field with the text of the letter (I have it as one variable) there already waiting to be edited and to be saved before printing.
Any ideas?

I have this simple Hangman-type game.

-first there are several empty text-boxes and a picture, player tries to quess the word by pressing letters on the bottom of the screen.
-when player presses letter-buttons and if letter excists in "word", the letter is written in to corresponding empty text-box.

...right. this works.

But if there is two (or more) same letters in the word
(Like 2 times letter"p" in the word "rapper")

How can I make the code to fill only one text-box, and on the next press of the same button fill the other one. ...and then make the button invisible.
