Slideshow Kinda Thing?
I used to be on this site 4-5 years ago (i don't remember lol)
but i don't remember a thing in flash anymore
i do photography right now, and i want to pack all images like a slideshow or something similar like that with background music, where someone can download the whole file, and view them. I've done some research and there's something called Photodex where it lays out everything already. I want to know if there's something better, or in fact, more customization is avaliable. Any help would be great!
thanks

Hello, Gutten Tag, Hiya, Bonjour, That Kinda Thing
I'm new here and I would like to say hello to everybody!
So here goes:
HELLO ALL!!!!!
I've been having some problems with Flash 5 of late (I've only just started using Flash by the way!!)
I can't seem to export just a section of the frame, without having the white background frame in the movie:
http://www.geocities.com/eternaldevastator/navbar.swf
I would like it so that only the stuff on the left hand side is exported. I've made the background blue for the time being on purpose so that people can see what I'm talking about.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Weird Menu Thingamajig Kinda Thing...
Yeah, i'm looking for the name and some instructions or an example file of a type of menu. It is hard to explain but... i will try (oh, and i have no examples)
ok, You mouse over it along one axis like an infinite menu but it stops at the ends and actually tends to ease to the ends. You usually see it with text and it is used to scroll a masked list instead of a scroll bar.
Edit: I found a sample of it, ok go to here and click on the demo. Then click on a continent, now you see

destination = scenetolinkto
}
and then on the 40th frame,
gotoandplay(destination).
And im sorry, i am using scenes. I'm sure it's a common problem, but i cant find an answer. Thanks in advance.

[MX] Cursor Moves Text - Kinda Forcefield
Hi I´m busy trying to but my first flash site together. I am currently workin on my first section. about me. here I have a body of text 3 paragaphs each paragraph about 3 lines. First I wrote out the text in oune layer then I broke it apart and sent each letter to its own layer - a whole lotta layers! each with its own motion tween.
So on opening the page the text comes in from all sides to form a body of text.
The Question: Now I would like to apply some kinda of behavior or whatever you call it....so that when you mouse over the text it get bumped around - but always tries to return to the completed body of text appearance.
Anyone got any ideas? Any help would be appreciated - Cheers!

I have 4 button-like movie clips. When users choose button 2 and 4, a dynamic text "Congratulations!" will turn up.
I would like to make an effect once somebody picks the correct buttons, those correct or incorrect buttons will be made disabled (still visible but not clickable).

Trail Effect On Buttons
Im just learning a few things at the moment and I've seen some websites that have an effect on the buttons whereby when you do mouse over it plays the 'movieclip' on the button until the end as opposed to completely stopping it when the mouse is no longer over.
By doin this it creates a trail effect when you move the mouse over multiple buttons.
Can anyone help me do this?

how do they do this effect?
http://www.flashperfection.com/
Right column, mouseover.
Basically, I'd like to mouseover text, have an image pop up and follow the cursor until the user goes to another text line.
Is there a way to do this with only actionscript? Or do I need javascript and css?
Thanks!

Cursor Move Dpad Type Thing Help
hiya,
i posted this in games because i am working on a game but i thougth it might be more general help required so i am sticking it here as well:
mouse cursor attach thingee
HIya,
need some help here with a thing i am trying to get my brain around
Basically what i want to do is make the mouse into a pointer finger, which i am able to do by making it a custom cursor, so thats not a problem. The tricky bit is; i want the user to be able to operate a switch that has multiple states. i.e. the finger moves over the switch and the user can move the finger up and make the switch move up, move the finger (cursor) down and make the switch move down, etc. But also they can press the mouse button and the finger presses the switch down. I already have all the graphics prepared and the mouse press is easy, buti am having difficluty working out how to attach the switch to the cursor move so that it moves on roll over. Any help appreciated.
It's a gamepad sort of thing and the thumb cursor needs to make the switch react underneath as it moves over it and depress when you press.
exaple to show what i mean:

Mouse Trail Special Effect ?
Found this effect here on the site and I would like to learn a bit about it and how to be able to change a few things.
http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Effec...dex.php?chk=no
I have looked through the actionscript on this item and have found these things -----
----
num = Math.random(1)*15;
n++;
if (n>20) {
n = 0;
}
duplicateMovieClip("sparkling", "sparkling"+n, n);
setProperty("sparkling"+n, _x, _xmouse);
setProperty("sparkling"+n, _y, _ymouse);
setProperty("sparkling"+n, _xscale, num);
setProperty("sparkling"+n, _yscale, num);
---
spark._alpha = 10;
verschily = -10+Math.random(1)*20;
verschilx = -10+Math.random(1)*20;
--
spark._alpha = spark._alpha-3;
i++;
if (i=30 && Math.random(1)*10>8) {
verschilly = -4+Math.random(1)*8;
verschillx = -4+Math.random(1)*8;
i = 0;
}
spark._x = spark._x+verschilx+verschillx;
spark._y = spark._y+verschily+verschilly;
---
I dont know what to change to make more sparkles appear. Thats My first question, I would like to do is increase the number of sparkles what can i add subtract change to allow this to happen.
Secondly, If possible, is to make a bit of a gravity effect so the sparkles look like they fall to the bottom of the screen. so after they are created they arc or start to fall toward the bottom of the scene.
Lastly I would alike to have Click effect where when you click the mouse anywhere in the movie it will make an explosion as i like to call it. The explosion is just a fast burst releasing many sparkles, making the click look very jazzy.
Hopefully someone knows what im talkin about and how they could help me out. =D thanks for your help guys.

Creating A Blur Trail Effect
Hey guys, I am making a game where enemies come down from the top of the screen to the bottom. The idea is to have a blur effect follow these enemies as they move through the frame and I have found tutorials to help guide me through the process. However, there are a few problems I am coming across. The first being that the current blur trail code I have written consumes far too much of my application's resources and slows the application down immensely. The second being, none of the tutorials I have come across allow the game to have a background other than a solid black.
The tutorial that most closely represents what I need is here:
http://www.senocular.com/flash/source.php?id=0.166
The code in AS3 (re-written by myself) for the tutorial above is here:
Code:
var dotSpeed = 3;// speed of dots moving across screen
var dotCount = 200;// number of dots to generate
var trailBlur = 5;// amount of blur
// create blur filter (quality of 1)
var blur = new flash.filters.BlurFilter(trailBlur, trailBlur, 2);
// create bitmap to use as background
var bg_bmp = new flash.display.BitmapData(300,300,true,0);
// create two movie clips, one to hold the balls (main)
// and one to be used as the background
//this.createEmptyMovieClip("background", 1);
var bg = new MovieClip();
this.addChildAt(bg, 0);
//this.createEmptyMovieClip("main", 2);
var main = new MovieClip();
this.addChildAt(main, 1);
// attach bg_bmp to the background
// movie clip and give it a blur
var bitmapLayer:Bitmap = new Bitmap(bg_bmp);
bg.addChild(bitmapLayer);
bg.filters = [blur];
// creates dots
function createDots(){
// loop for dotCount times
var i = dotCount;
var dot, angle;
while(i--){
// attach a dot in the center of main
//dot = main.addChild("dot", "dot"+i, i, {_x:150, _y:150});
dot = new Dot();
dot.cacheAsBitmap = true;
dot.name = "dot"+i;
dot.x = 150;
dot.y = 150;
main.addChild(dot);
// create a random angle to use as its direction
angle = Math.random()*Math.PI*2;
dot.vx = Math.cos(angle)*dotSpeed;
dot.vy = Math.sin(angle)*dotSpeed;
// set enterFrame event to dotEnterFrame
// that will move the dots every frame
dot.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, dotEnterFrame);
}
}
// move dot based on its vx and vy properties
function dotEnterFrame(e:Event){
e.target.x += e.target.vx;
e.target.y += e.target.vy;
// wrap if beyond the left or right boundaries
if (e.target.x > 300) e.target.x = 0;
else if (e.target.x < 0) e.target.x = 300;
// wrap if beyond the top or bottom boundaries
if (e.target.y > 300) e.target.y = 0;
else if (e.target.y < 0) e.target.y = 300;
}
// every frame draw the main timeline onto the
// background bitmap, this includes the dots and
// the last background which has blurring - all of
// which will be blurred further creating the trails
stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, drawBitmap);
function drawBitmap(e:Event){
bg_bmp.draw(this);
}
// initialize
createDots();
So my question is this, is there a way for me to get this same effect without needing so much system resource? Also, how can I create this effect to work with a background other than black?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Dynamic Text Menu Character Trail Effect
Hi all,
I am willing to do a menu composed of array of letters..
I constructed that as five items and than a short strip with description revealed after an appropriate button is rolled over ...what I claimed to do was a trail of letters going towards the new position on the right to give space to previous clicked item and its description ...whatever I got stuck on infinite loops and that stuff...
Anybody done this before ? I had played with strings before but never experienced such multiple characters shift in a trail...
Thanx in advance

Custom Mouse Cursor Conflict With Mouse Trail
When I put mouse trails and custom mouse cursor script in the same scene the mouse trails work but the cursor does not change to the custom cursor. If I use the custom mouse cursor script in a seperate scene, on its own, it works fine. I think that the two scripts are conflicting.
Mouse trail script:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
//x movement
mx=_root._xmouse;
if (mx<_x) {
dx=_x-mx;
}
else {
dx=mx-_x;
}
moveSpeedx=dx/10;
if (mx<_x) {
_x=_x-moveSpeedx;
}
else {
_x=_x+moveSpeedx;
}
//y movement
my=_root._ymouse;
if (my<_y) {
dy=_y-my;
}
else {
dy=my-_y;
}
moveSpeedy=dy/10;
if (my<_y) {
_y=_y-moveSpeedy;
}
else {
_y=_y+moveSpeedy;
}
}
Custom mouse cursor script:
Layer 1(functions):
stop();
/* update the cursor coords */
function updateCursor() {
_root.cursor._x = _xmouse;
_root.cursor._y = _ymouse;
updateAfterEvent();
}
Layer 2(on event handlers):
onClipEvent(load) {
Mouse.hide();
this.swapDepths(100);
}
onClipEvent(mouseMove) {
_root.updateCursor();
}
Please help!

Smooth Text Mask Effect - Using Maybe A Motion Path Or Something - Leaving A Trail
Hi all.
I can create a textural mask, whereby the serif text is gradually revealed. I achieve this by using the key frame technique, where I would add a few white areas, thus revealing the mask. So on play, the text is gradually revelled.
However there must be a better method for achieving this, a method that allows perfect smooth mask effect.
If done using my method. It can vary in speed depending upon the type of curve etc. I wish for the font to be made visible smoothly and elegantly. Can anyone advise on an alternative method, or am I stuck with what I know already.
I had thought of a motion path around the fancy text, and a ball following the path, but the problem I have there is that the ball would need to grow or leave a trail behind itself. If there was a way in which you could leave a trail of say a small ball, I am sure a perfect smooth effect could be achieved.
Please help anyone if you know the answer or have an idea that may be suitable.
Kind regards

Computer Screen Effect Thing?

An example I can think of is the one on C&C TS or Renegade I think? can’t find any web site though.
The thing is that I want to make it realistic, how I can do this?
I would very much appreciate any help on how to create this effect, and thanks in advanced.

I have a mouse trail that uses the following code,
var leaderX = function() { return _xmouse; };

Cursor 'effect'
Hi. I've been trying to somehow make this effect, and I've come up with smt like this:
http://bohner.asdf.pl/misc/mouse_move.html
Basicly you position your mouse, click, and after realesing there are three scripted moves. On the last one, the cursor returns to the new mouse _x, _y pos (if you have moved it durring the moves).
It still has some bugs, and it probably could be done better. Any suggestions on how to make it better welcome.
I don't take credit for the move.MC prototype.

Cursor Effect In AS3
so Im working on a game and ive been asked to do it in as3 which has been painful... so an overview of what im doing, im having a clip replace the mouse, and im having 5 objects listen for a click to swap the clips, one is a hammer up, and one is a hammer down. here is the code. now one bug or problem is if the user rolls out before the "UP" is registered, it leaves the down hammer, so I figured I would try a roll out function that says if the mouse rolls out, load the original hammer and remove the downstate hammer... here is the code...
var mClip:greyMC = new greyMC;
var upHammer:AngledHammer = new AngledHammer;
var downHammerownHammer = new DownHammer;
addChild(mClip);
addChild(upHammer);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, dragCursor)
function dragCursor(event:MouseEvent):void {
upHammer.x = this.mouseX;
upHammer.y = this.mouseY;
upHammer.mouseChildren = false;
upHammer.mouseEnabled = false;
Mouse.hide();
}
mClip.x = 50;
//mCLip.y = 50;
mClip.buttonMode = true;
mClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpFunction);
function mouseUpFunction(event:MouseEvent) {
trace("mouse up");
addChild(upHammer);
removeChild(downHammer);
}
mClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownFunction);
function mouseDownFunction(event:MouseEvent) {
trace("mouse down")
addChild(downHammer);
removeChild(upHammer);
}
mClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, mouseOutFunction);
function mouseOutFunction(event:MouseEvent) {
trace("mouse out")
addChild(upHammer);
removeChild(downHammer);

Trap Your Cursor Effect?
Does anyone know how to do this effect that I found on this mega cool site http://www.benjie.de
When you load up the site select the "Voll Version" and the under the "Kontakt" menu option you'll see hands like they are plants. Move your cursor over to the one on the right of the screen and the hand grabs your cursor and doesn't let go for a few seconds, it feels like the hand is actually holding your cursor, an awesome effect.
My thoughts are that you use a script to follow the cursor, then when the cursor rolls over the hotspot/like the hand, you make the cursor dissapear and load another mc that closes the hand, the mc that closes the hand only runs for a limited amount of frames and then reloads the open hand? the hand still follows the cursor movement when the hand is closed aswell, is the follow the cursor code in the closed hand script?
anyway if anyone knows how to do this or can figure it out I would be stoked
thanks
