And well i have a lot of videos and stuff to load, so i put a preloader on, but for some reason it takes FOREVER for most computers to load.

anything that i can do? besides get rid of all my stuff?

would i have to start from scratch to cut out a 20 dead time in the middle of a flash movie. the site is too heavy and i need to make it shorter, because the download time is unbarable.

Cutting Swf Plugin Loading Time

i am having problems getting rid of that annoying white box within my html page where the flash plugin is loading.

what i have here is an empty swf within a background colour of black inside a html page also with a black background yet when the page loads there is always a split second where the flash area comes up white. any ideas how to stop this?

Flash Site Time
Hello, I'm making a site in flash and I wanted to add something to it. The site consists of a main swf that loads external swfs into blank movie clips when you click a button. The thing is, I want it to load swfs relative to the time. I have a clock in a movie clip and I want a 'day' swf file to load when the time is within a specific time frame. Then I want it to load a 'night' swf file if the time is anything beyond that. how would I go about doing this? Id appreciate any help.

First Time Actually Publishing A Flash Site
Hello ladies and gentlemen.

I'm planning out my first full flash site at the moment. Media Temple is my host so maybe someone (Kirupa) can help me out.

I'm trying to figure out how to throw a .swf file up and have it centered. Right now, I'm using dreamweaver (a novice at it by the way) to embed Flash in an HTML document. Again, I suck at dreamweaver, never really picked it up in college (I'm a mainly a print Graphic Designer). In any case, was wondering if I can just put a .swf file up there (like magic right? must be the print side of me). Sites like Drawingart.org and razorheart.com are what I'm looking to produce. I've got the ideas and talent, just need the technical knowledge on proper publishing practices.

Loading A Flash Movie Only One Time On A Site
I am sort of new to the flash arena and have what may be a simple question, but I am having trouble figuring out a solution.

I have a flash movie on a site that I would like to only be played once even when the page is refreshed. I have the movie set where it will play through the animation one time (i.e using the stop command in the last keyframe), but I need a way to keep the movie from reloading if someone hits the refresh page button or follows a link and returns using the back button. Right now everytime you follow a link and come back the movie will reload from scratch. Anyone have any suggestions?

Leave A Flash Site For A Long Time...
And it crashes the browser!

My bosses went in for a meeting with the client and obviously they had the site running for the duration, after about an hour however, the site just crashed, the even had to reboot the machine to get it working again.

Not sure if anyones ever tried to leave their flash sites running for an hour or so, but if you have do you get the same problem?

Is this a known issue with the flash player? or have I simply written rubbish code?

Obviously I hope its the former but I'm more than happy to hold my hands up if it's the latter!

Basically my question is: Is there a known issue with the flash player whereby if you leave the browser running for an extended period of time it will crash the browser?

Time-sensitive Flash Enabled Site.
Hey there. I have a quick question about a flash-enabled site design I am working on right now. I would like to be able to alter the site to coincide with either a basic clock (PST, etc.), or maybe the viewers clock on their computer.

Generally, thw color scheme, and possibly some of the information would change as real life day turns to night, probabably like 6AM prompts the morning site, 12PM prompts an afternoonish themed site, 6PM for evening, 9Pm for night.

so...
first of all, does anyone know some sort of coding to do this?
second, would it be easier to refer to a clock server-side?

I am posting here, by the way, because I am a pretty lousy flash programmer. If you have ideas, please don't whack me with a whole bunch of jargon...remember I'm a bit slow. heh.

Urgent Help - Flash Site That Loads Every Time

I encountered one flash site, it loads itself every time I view, and I could not find any swf files in my temp internet files folder, I can only find some html pages with absolutely nothing in it. Really strange.

Time To Publish My First Site On The Web :-) But How Do I Align My Site ?

I'm trying to align my new site to the center of my web browser .I read that I would need to do it with Dreamweaver or that I could also do it in flash but it didn’t say how. I have Dreamwever so I could try to do it there, if the flash way is too complicated for a beginner like me.

If you know any simple tutorials about this subject or have the time to explain how to do it or even better upload a Dreamwever preset you wouldn't mind sharing with me, I would be extremely grateful.

hey there everyone. a quick question. i am putting a lot of photos and graphics on my website, all inside flash-movies. what is the best way to keep load-time to a minimum while keeping the pictures at a decent quality? i'm using jpegs (high quality) right now - should i use a different format? or is it more about the compression rate? i'm lost.

Long Load Time With Php And Flash

I'm having various problems with load times in flash using php variables ...

for example:

Delaying Flash Load Time
Before the home page of my website opens, the Flash file loads on top of the previous html page (i.e., another website page). In other words, people see the Flash file on top of their current html page before my home page becomes visible.

How can I delay the Flash file so that it doesn't come up on the previous html page; so that it comes up on my home page only?

Flash Website Load Time Help
Hopefully some of you flash experts can help me. I just created my first flash site for my church at medinahbaptistchurch.org. The site is mostly flash objects embedded in html using dreamweaver. The whole site is less than 1 mb but it seems like the flash objects take a long time to load. For instance, a flash object that is about 200k takes 8 seconds on a 256k connection. And it looks like crap because there are white boxes when the objects are loading. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I have minimal experience w/ video, but have worked w/ audio within flash and even that took way too long to load. Does anyone know how they got the flash, and video in particular, to load so quickly, while retaining the crispness of the images?

Html Vs. Flash Load Time
I'm noticing the my flash movies embedded in my main pages; be it a Navigation or small intro it is sometimes loading and playing before or while the HTML is still loading . Is there a way to wait until HTML is loaded before the flash loads and plays.

It skrews up the aesthetic expirence as a whole, it's kind of Embarrassing to be honest

Does Flash Have To Load Graphic Symbols Every Time They Are Used?
Hey all I was working on a project this weekend and the people that I'm working for prefer to work with animated graphic symbols rather than Movie clips.

Is there a disadvantage to doing it this way? does the computer have to load each one seperately?

Flash Load Time Vs. HTML Research?
We are trying to get a client to go with Flash over HTML but they are concerned with load time.

We all know that flash loadtime is directly related to the images contained in the flash and that a well built flash file can actually reduce page load time over html. However, for this client we need research to back this up.

Does anyone know of any research that has been done on flash loadtime and pageloads?

Our intention is to use a "flash shell" with very minimal vector graphics that will then load three larger graphics using loadmovie. The alternative would be to build the shell with conventional HTML/Graphics and display the same three graphics.

Our way should actually reduce the pageload time because those three images should load into flash independant of the rest of the page. Is this correct? Are there any good resources to back this up?

Cutting Flash Up
Ok, if any of u read my previous post u have found out that i am trying to put an iframe in the middle of a flash movie. The only way i have figured out to do this is by making 4 seperate flash movies(top, left, right, bottom) and using a table to place them around my iframe. My first plan was to have one flash file with a iframe placed over top so at the moment i have one swf file. Does anyone know of a flash splitter, i have seen some image splitters and things like that, but never for flash, does such thing exist? Or does anyone think they could do it if sent the fla. i have tried but i cant seem to get my proportions right, i dont know if im just not good at math or what, but i cant seem to figure it out. Any help, info would be greatly appericiated. thanks.

Flash Site Load Up
My site has a flash anim on it. And it is only 8kb big when compressed. it is 15kb uncompressed. But even with this small size. It takes an emense time for it to load up, with a cable connection. Also the animation is all vectors, and the text is dynamic, yet it takes forever to load up. I don't know whats wrong. It is professionally hosted ( by yahoo) so thats not a problem. Flash Site Does Not Load
Hello everybody, i have developped a web site in flash mx 2004 only, everything was fine as long as i did not put the files on a web server, i could clic on the html generated by flash in the output directory and the site would load almost instantly in my IE, now if i put the files (3 files, 2 swf's movies and the html generated file) on my web server (IIS) on my network and acces it from another machine i have to do a refresh to view the site (this is not so bad), but when i put the 3 files on a "real" web server outside my network , the background of the site is the only thing i see !!!??? I am lost in the dark.......

Flash Site Won't Load

I made a little Flash site for a company a couple of years ago. It looked fine when I uploaded it. Now, for some reason, when I go to it, it won't get past the preloader screen. It just sits there at the preloader and never progresses. I don't know why it doesn't load any more. Is this because of an upgrade or something? Do I need to publish the site in a different version? I don't understand why it used to work 6 months ago and now no longer loads. Do I need to republlish????

Load Multiple Movies Time To Time...
Dear webmates :

I have created a flash which loads other flashes inside it, but I just can achieve to load one of them using the :

LoadMovie ("external_flash001.swf","loader");

But then I also that, after 10 seconds, this flash load a new "external_flash002.swf" , then after other 10 seconds another "external_flash003.swf"... and so on .. until the external_flash005.swf, and then restart again with "external_flash001.swf)...

Cutting Out Images In Flash
If I had an image, lets say a car with a background, and I wanted to cut the car out 'cleanly' in Flash, how would I do that? I know in Photoshop I can use a path or selection tool and cut the car out, and save it on a white background, then import it in Flash, and delete the white background. However, it still leaves choppy or other marks around the car.

Is there any way to just import the whole picture with the car into Flash, then 'cleanly' cut out the car in Flash?

Any help is appreciated.

How Do I Get The Flash Site To Load An XML Without Security
I made a music mp3 player but now the XML wont load and the music player says undefined. I changed security settings in Adobe Flash Player. But I dont want to have everybody who views it have to change settings. Is there some type of ActionScript code that will allow the XML to load without security problems. Load Swf In Flash Site OnLoad
I have built a full flash website per the kirupa tutorial. on one of the inside pages, I want to load a pre-built flash player that I have the source fla and completed swf for. I think that I need to use loadmovie for this, but where do I assign the action script--on a frame, on an empty movie clip? and how do I make the movie load when the containing swf loads, and not with an event handler like the release of a button.

Flash Site WON"T Load
This is very strange. Maybe somebody had this problem, too. I have built a flash by using levels to load external swf files. The website works everywhere except my college library! When I try to go to my site on college computer it just displays the background, so flash does load but non of the levels do. Also, all other websites that I think are using levels to load swf files work well on college computer. Its really frustrating, now I don't know if the website I built does work on all the computers. The library uses new version of Internet Exp.

Entire Site In Flash- Load Help Please
Ok, Here is my problem, I am creating my entire site in flash, I have it mostly done, but I need to change some things, for one, the basic layout is the same in every page, so is there a way to load a new movie ino an already made movie, and in the one I already have made, the button that is active, is a different color, (here is the site I have done already, Flash Test Site )

I think it would go to the different pages much quicker if I was not loading an entire new movie, I am using the

Also, If you are able to.... the Quote page has a form, the form is working, however, in two fields, it has this inserted into it --- _level0.email and _level0.domainname - how can I make it where those fields are empty?

Flash Site Slow On Load...
Hey everyone,

So I finished my site finally, but it seems to be super duper slow. I believe that one reason is probably becuase the placed images in the external swf files are too large in size(?), but then there are other areas of the site that load slowly also, (and they have no images what so ever) and when you let it all load, and then go back to that page on the site, it works fine. What the heck? Can somebody take a look at my site and let me know what they think the problem might be and what to do about making it load faster and/or smoother? They're all external swf files that load into the main movie, but I'm not looking to use preloaders for each one, unless I really really need to. And then I will have to I guess. Site Won't Load In IE6/IE7 Because Of Flash Banner
In IE7 AND IE6, the homepage on my site won't load. I suspect it has something to do with the flash banner. This is quite strange because I have the same site on my testing site here and the homepage loads fine with the flash. Does anyone know why there is a discrepancy? It works just fine in firefox
