I Have A Dream...
I have an idea of clickable ice rafts or floats moving randomly in the water.

I haven't found a good script for easing floats IN and out. Movement should be very slow and the floats should REACH the randomized target point before it randomizes a new one.

I would like the floats to bump each other (not overlapping) in a natural way. Is it possible to make this without year's work...? Is it going to be too heavy for the hardware? There are about 15 floats moving around.

My Dream ...
I am looking for a service where my Flash/PHP video upload script can pass a video to a third party web service to get converted and then passed back to my php script to store the result on my server?

My target is to convert all videos to FLV.

I would rather use a service like the one described above than look for a web host provider that supplies FFMPEG to accomplish the conversion myself.

Is there such a service available for pay by video converted via this PHP scheme? Most of my uploads will be less than 5 seconds in length so the pricing needs to accommodate small conversion jobs.

In my mind they should provide the base Flash/PHP script that I can modify which includes their PHP exit to pass the file to their conversion service and back.

The script should also include...
- Flash script prompt for Userid and PW to pass to PHP security check to limit who can upload
- Flash script passes variable to PHP designating where to write the file on the server
- Flash script passes text to be embossed as water mark on the converted video.

ToolTips: I Have A Dream...
Say you've got a 600px wide navigation bar and you want to make your own tool tip follow your mouse and apear on button mouseovers...

If you have the registration point of this tool tip on the left then it will extend off the page when you rollover the button on the far right. Same vice versa. Is there a way that the tooltip can adjust within its own clip so that it always stays within the confines of your flash movie? I'll attach an image to better illustrate my point...



Any ideas people?!

I'm trying to create a multi-user environment.

Basically, I need a form where people can fill in info and choose different colours. And then Flash would interpret
this information and display it in a graphical way.

This form/database needs to be able to handle hundreds of entries.

So, would a simple database be the answer? If so, what or which software is best?

Also, would flash be able to collect the data outputted by the database?

I Have A Dream (ok Well Maybe A Map) Hotspot Question(s)
I have a map that shows some settlements from the early 1800's and the map progress' over time (the amount of settlers increase).

What I want to create is this. A image of the map and when the mouse scrolls over a portion of the map, the statistics of the map pop up(fade in/delay).

Now I know in non-practice (theory from what I tested) I could create a horizontal (alt windows in addition to the map) that displays a new image with the text/stats in a window correct? But what about it I wanted the image to appear/fade in on the screen and dissolve after the mouse moves away?

Best way to accomplis this??

Requiem For A Dream Website (hi-res)
OK. So I am trying to constantly build my flash (especially actionscripting) repetoire. However I encounter the Requiem for a Dream website, and although I have an idea about how they created the depth part (with the links to the guy and girl, after the whole tappy tibbons part, http://www.requiemforadream.com) I can't create a similar effect. How would one start?

I sliced web page in imageready and then i got to Dream mx, and over some pictures i put hotspot for link and then what happened is that my web page got all messed up. why is that so?? how to fix that??

My DREAM Flash Feature
I want...
an easy way to connect a Flash-made SWF file to a database that resides on the same web server as the swf file. I want a way to tap into a list of database field names and table names from within Flash MX, and be able to drag-n-drop field names from the list right over top of my Flash form fields, and hook up the connectivity in that simple dran-n-drop fashion.

I don't want to have to write ASP or PHP code. I just want to tell my Flash file that the name of the database is "this", the name of the table is "that", drag fields onto my movie canvas, and then tell Flash if I want Flash to write to or pull from that database.

Then I want to be able to upload that swf file and not need to install a special remoting server or components on my web server for the database connectivity to work.

Does my dream feature exist yet? What is it?

A Dream Weaver Question.
I have a question about dreamweaver... this is not a flash question. In dreamweaver, I created A nav bar with drop down menus... the drop down menus were created using the behaviors pallet in DW. Is there a way to copy & paste the nav bar into other pages with the drop down menus still attatched? when I copy & paste the Nav bars into the other pages now, they tend to lose the dropdown menus.

Flash And Dream Weaver
I havnt tried it yet, but im just curious to get a head start for when I do. I will have roughly 5 flash buttons and a movie clip (with a rollover function for the buttons) all positioned around a page... When I import them to dream weaver, will I be able to position them how I want, or will I have to do it in flash as one large movie so they all work together?

One other thing, non-flash related. In dreamweaver (if anyone knows) will I be able to make objects even up on the page without them shifting due to screen size/resolution. Not sure if I can lay the entire thing out in a table or not. I lvoe working with the layers except they move on the screen if its not the same size.

Persistent Images In Dream Weaver
Hi,

Quick question. I am making a 3 frame website. To the Left, a Navbar. The top, a header. The main frame displays what people clicked on through the Navbar.

I am trying to have a persistent image, that looks like a glare, on the main frame. The idea, is that, no matter if the viewer scrolls up or down on the page, the glare stays in view.

I read a few manuals and FAQ's, but was unable to locate a method to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Combine FLASH MX & DREAM WEAVER MX / Wich ACTION To USE?
Hi, I'm new in this, i hope i can get some help and in a future pay back the useful info.

I'm building a small web page based on Flash MX. The web is perfectly running in flash, but i have to build it on DREAM WEAVER MX using EACH SCENE in a DIFFERENT .HTML This is:

I begin with index.htm that is a "THIS PAGE NEEDS FLASH TO BE SEEN" button that makes the link to intro.htm that has a flash movie of a small introduction, the problem is that i don't know how to make that in the end of this intro this flash movie calls another html called manu.htm

Drag N Drop Shopping Cart: Pipe Dream Or Reality?
i've seen several posts asking about how to create a drag and drop shopping cart...and no real answers or 'how to' suggestions.

i don't think the drag and drop part is going to be that big of a deal...

the part that is giving me the jibblies is the shopping cart portion. my goal, like all the other poster boys i've read, is to make a seamless, integrated shopping experience...an extension of the flash site. the idea of creating a slick flash site to present products only to have it dump you out into a generic html-ish looking shopping cart nauseates me.

i would love to be able to collect all the customer's selections and info in what appears to be flash...then send that off to whatever processes the transaction behind the scenes.

once and for all, is there a tutorial, a ready-made fla, or even a turn-key type solution to this issue? how about a book or two that tackles the issue?

i think what most of us are really looking for is something that we can totally overhaul the appearance to fit the site.

i have never done anything like this...a commerce site...and i've never written any html...just action script in flash. i am a pretty quick study when i have solid examples to follow.

here's the example:
the hosting company i use provides miva. how do i communicate with it using flash? or can i?

here are the questions:
how do you set-up flash to collect the customer selections and info?
how do you send those selections out of flash?
what is it that we are sending it to?
is it secure?

please, please, please...lets make this the definitive thread on this topic!
