Flash :: Do I Need Flash 4 To Edit This?

Copies Of Flash Buttons - Edit Each One? How To Edit Multiple Copied Buttons
I am creating a website using a flash template, my first venture into flash. The side links are all flash, where I had to add about 5 additional buttons. So I copied one of the buttons and pasted multiple copies of it. I was able to reposition each one correctly so they are move correctly. But I can't figure out how to edit each one individually? Any change I make to one, is made to all of them as well.

I am using Flash MX 2004 and any help is greatly appreciated!!

How To Undock/ Move The Edit Panel/ Edit Toolbar
How do i move (drag) the Edit Panel. The Edit Panel is at menu:
Window > Toolbar > Edit Bar.

Why i ask this, is i find this panel useless. But hiding this panel makes me unable to see the exact location where i am from the _root after doubleclicking some time on instances. (suppose i'm at _root.button_btn.movieclip_mc.dynamicTextField.txt and i want to know whether i'm at this address:
_root.button_btn.movieclip_mc.dynamicTextField.txt )

Enabling Your Clients To Edit These Xml Files Or Txt Files In An Easy To Edit Format
Okay so this is an issue i've faced since day one and am growing tired of not having an ideal solution for. I've learned to create files that can be updated via xml or simple .txt to make the updating process easier, but how do you gurus out there bridge the gap by enabling your clients to edit these xml files or txt files in an easy to edit format like your basic cms... but except it would be cms that would update the xml or txt file and then in turn update your swf file.

I'm sure you guys out there rely on many different solutions but i'm just looking for some enlightenment on the different ways to accomplish this and what i could possibly do to be pointed in the right direction.

When I do this change, the swf file is showing incorrectly.

When I Change the text on the flash from From “Chicago Salsa Congress – World Tour Chicago” to “Chicago World Salsa Congress”,
the file is displaying incorrectly, Iam freaked out as to why a small text change is corrupting the display.

I have attached the file. if someone can fix this issue or tell me why a text change is causing a bad display, I would appreciate it.

The problem in the picture gallery is when the images are more than 10 then it doesn't show exact total of pages. But when we click next it shows Page 2 | 1 makes not any sense. Anyone can tell me what to change in the Actionscript so that it shows properly like Page 1 | 2 or Page 2 | 2.

Flash Templates -best Way To Edit
I have been asked to build a website for my in-laws' business. She has picked out a template. The one that my MiL really wants to use is built in Flash. It's from Template Monster i think. Is flash the only thing available to edit the template? She only wants me to change the pictures and text, not the functions or transitions, music etc. She just wants it customized with the business info.

As noted, I am a newbie to flash. I have used all the Macromedia apps in the past except for Flash. So the interface I am hoping should be somewhat familier.

Hi everyone I am glad I found this site. I am a noob when it comes to this stuff. But I read a lot of tutorials and it helped me a lot. But I am stuck on a few things with a Flash Template I am using.

Edit/save Xml With Flash
If I create a form in flash that gets its info from an xml file, can i then allow the user to edit the info that is loaded and save it back to the same xml file? They type in their changes and hit a 'save' button. It overwrites the file automatically. Basically I want to avoid doing a backend DB by using the XML. If it is possible, how easy is it? I am fairly new to AS. Just point me in the right direction and I can figure it out though. Thanks for any help you can give.

Do You Edit Movies By Using Flash ?
I created a small movie and I convert it to flv. I would like now to add captions by using flash. It is very easy to do, but flash software is very slow since the movie is 1013 frames long.

AS2 Code Edit To AS3 In Flash
Hi community! I am using a book to help me learn flash and AS3 but the new book I have is awesome but uses Flash CS3 and codes in AS2. Can someone assist me with this short bit of code to change it to AS3 format?

First frame has this code below:

Second frame has this code below:

I am sure that the first frame needs to have the var in front of variable. Then I think the variable needs pauseAnim:Object or something but I have no idea. Any help would be great.

ok I just load data from textfile into my flash file..so my problem is..how is it in flash I have to code so that I can edit the loaded data from textfile and then when I submit it'll update the data in textfile...of course I'm using php for writing in textfile...Currently I load the data into listbox from my textfile.....

XML Edit For Flash Menu
I've seen flash menus that are actually controlled by XML files. Does anyone know what steps i need to go through to take an existing flash menu and give it these properties?

Problem is, I don't work in flash and constantly have to ask for updates to the navigation menu which can all be alleviated by utilizing XML but we're not sure how to get it accomplished.

Is There Any Way To Edit Bitmaps In Flash?
I am editing a flash file that was created by someone else. The animation uses bitmaps that were NOT converted to symbols. I need to edit these bitmaps. When I right-click them in the library, "edit with..." is grayed out so I'm unable to edit them in an external program (see my other post).

Is there then at least some way to edit these bitmaps in Flash?

Edit Flash W/out Raw Files?
A friend of a friend had someone design his business website, but for whatever reason they're not doing maintenance AND didn't leave any raw files. I'm not sure what the behind-the-scenes story is... what the problem for ME is, I've been asked to make a few corrections and edits to the site.

There is a piece that is Flash 7 with a wrong link that I need to fix. But I don't have the raw flash files...

Any thoughts or ideas on how I can edit this link without those raw files? I've played around with Flash a litte bit, back under version 5 I think it was, so am definitely NOT an experienced user or designer!

Edit Picture In A Flash App
Here's what I wanna do:
I want to make a Flash application that ables the user to a picture of him/herself with webcam and cut out the head from that picture.
I know it has to be possible to edit pictures in a Flash app. Seen it on jibjab.com. I even tried to decompile their swf, but no luck.
If anyone knows of a library that allows to edit pictures via flash application, that'd be awesome!

A Way To Edit A News Section, Without Flash.

I just saw the latest tutorial in which they could load variables via a text document. I am wondering if I could actually set up a way where a user could just upload a text file to a web site, and then it would automatically update the news section via the text file. My site I am working on right now is a Counter-Strike clan's web site. I made the site in about 2-3 hours, nothin special, but my client would like to be able to update the news. He doesn't have flash on his cpu, but I do, so he would have to send me the article, then I would have to post it. If someone could help me out with this... I am really new to this concept and how to do it. Any coding would be DEEPLY appreciated!

I am trying to make a page for my website that has a gear list for me and my buddies (we are doing some winter mountaineering, and hey, a flasher has to have hobbies as well). I have it in .html but I would like them to be able to update it when they get the gear. Is there any way to have them be able to click a check box or type in something and have it saved? I am up for checkboxes, text fields, or anything- I am at your mercy. Thanks.

Cannot Get 'EDIT WITH FIREWORKS' To Show Up In Flash
Ok so I'm going nuts and about to drive from ny to california or wherever Macromedia programmers hide and kick some butt.

I'm on a g5 OS X 10.3 with the MX suite.

I have pngs that I import into flash and desperately need to be able to right click the image on stage or in the library and 'edit with fireworks' but I cannot cannot cannot get it to work.

If I take all the files into photoshop and resave them as pngs and then import them into flash, it can edit with photoshop. BUT photoshop can only save PNG 24's not PNG 32's. (Do png 24's not have an alpha channel?)

AND BEST of all, is lately I installed HALO, and now instead of at least showing up 'edit with photoshop" in that menu, it now shows 'edit with classes.nib' which is some weird file from the halo installation.
