Does Anyone Have Any Info On This?
I will try to explain this the best I can and hope someone can help. What I want to have happen is this.. something similar to 2advanced studios and click on portfolio. See how the box comes up where you can scroll down and it has the sites they did with a picture on the side.. Is that similar to using the components - listbox in Flash mx? I saw a tutorial on how to enter the names but what about the images as well? Any help or tips would be very much appreciated.

Info Needed On Passing Info To SQL DB
I'm trying to write a Flash message board, and would like to know how to get Flash 5 to chat to a SQL Database.
I understand this needs to be done via ASP, not a problem, but how do I pass the variables to the ASP page for storage?
I've seen mention of loadVariables, but would like to know exactly how this communicates to the ASP page.

I Need Bit Of Info.
I have a number of objects linked to my movie (10-15), that I then attach to an empty clip. What I'd like to know is, are all these clips loaded with the movie (which the bandwidth profiler seems to imply), or are they loaded as and when they are attached?

I've got 6 photos (that are converted to button)on the left side of my screen in a flash scene. i want when i click on one, to open the picture selected on a new window preformated size and position on the right side of the screen. Also if it's possible the new window that popup stay there until i click on another picture, then the new picture appears in that popup window on the right side.

hi guys I have my site up and running but i have encountered a problem. If you view the site running a OS like Windows 2000 or XP etc...you can see that theres nothing wrong with the site.
But the G4's at my school are not displaying the proper information on the page.

the top left header contains a 3dglobe animated and created in Flash and Flash Text to the bottom right of the page. The top rigth header displays the FLash file so i know that the flash player is present. I dont know y it doesnt display.... if you can help me out i appreciate it.
Get Swf Info In Asp ?
I need to extract the swf info (width, height, version, frameRate, frameCount) in my asp page.
I got a source code that works very well with Flash 5, but it don't work with Flash MX.
Anyone manage to solve this problem ?

I know this question is obsured, but I am curious on some sites I have seen on how they are built, I need to get the overall picture on some sites, I build mine a certain way but I know there are other ways, I am most interested in sites that have the amazing intos with fast moving graphics and flikkers and flashes!! here are some exammples that I have seen today,

I've found in both "TY Flash MX in 24 Hours" and the O'Reilly "Deffinitive ActionScript" books how to SEND into through the URL via GET, or POST to a new webpage...but how do you GET info OUT of the URL?
Or is it even possible?
Or is there a better method of passing info TO a Flash movie? Even is it's just one variable.
I figure the hard way would be to write the variable to a txt file, and then INCLUDE it in the ActionScript...but I was hoping for a way that's more immediate.

I've been doing flash for quite a while and have been getting wet with Actionscript. I would like to implement Flash with Coldfusion and create a database driven Flash site. I've set up the server with my local web server and now it's time for me to get cracking. I would just like to ask if anyone would be kind enough to point me to any great tutorials they've come across online about coldfusion and flash intergration. I'm new at coldfusion also and would like to get to know the basics of that too.

I'm trying to set up a password protected area of a site that with then allow clients to download ftp files.

I don't like how the browser shows an index page with a list of files.
If I use send files via ftp through my server, it opens up a new ftp window with a folder inside the window.
It's much nicer, and I would like to mimic this.
I just want the client to be able to type their username and password into my site, instead of the site of my web host.

If you look after the file is located, it says countdownred.swf?...
it has the extra info that gives the countdown what it needs
For my flash file, i would like to have something like that that would give the flash file the text it needs to be put in the flash file.
so the url would be like:
http://mysite.com/scrollbar.swf?text=this text appears in the scroll bar"
the second thing i would like to do it make a text file with the text, and make the text file in the url so that the text in the text file would be what appears in the scroll bar
so it would be somethin like:
http://mysite.com/scrollbar.swf?text=http://mysite.com/text.txt"

Hi,
I need to develop a project in flash. The project is quite challenging and I have never worked on flash earlier (only basic action script).
First of all i need to have one VIDEO (any format avi, wma, mpg, swf, etc) in flash in whose frames/timeline can be controlled thruough action script - i.e after performing some calculation i may able to go to the exact frame/timeline of that video to show the action.
Now how would i insert and control this thing using AS ? which format movie should i look for (i can't make a FLA file write now or it is not required).
Any help or guidance ?

Getting Info From ASP
OK. i have an ASP page that retrieves info from a database, then send the info to flash(atleast, thats what i want it to do!)
This is what i have.

this.loadVariables("count.asp?mode=total_plays", 10);
to show the total plays in the assigned box, but the only thing im getting is "_level10.instance" or something like that(it gets cut off)
its been forever since i used flash, and even when iused flash, i never used an asp page to send info over.

I have not upgraded from my old Flash for the past few years. I have many sites written in this older version (I do not remember the version #). These are some of my questions:
1. I would like to know if I will have severe problems adapting to the new Flash MX 20004?
2. I have used flash with the embed for quicktime films--is the professional version worth the price tage or might I best be off saving the money and continuing to embed.
3. Is the MX studio worth the trouble (I honestly write my html by hand and have not yet really needed Dreamweaver, plus there is freeware that I think would do as good a job?)?

Getting Info From XML Doc
I have a page flip animation that works fine, its one I've downloaded actually. This reads in the page references via an xml document.
I now want to add a button at the bottom of the page flip animation that will allow users to download a PDF of the page being currently viewed.
My question is:
Whats the best way of doing this? I need the button to know which page is currently being viewed, could this be detected from the XML doc? My action script knowledge is fairly basic and I'm not sure how to do this.
Or would it be better to create a new Array?

Need Info About The Compression
Hi,
does anyone know, how the decompression of a compressed swf is handled by flash ?
I have a preloader with a speed detection script in it, that works very well until some point when the loaded movie seeems to get compressed, because the detection script shows doubled to tripled values for kb/s.
I guess this is because getbytesloaded() all of a sudden doubles..
So does anyone know when the decompression starts ?

The whole reason I bought MX: How can I send info from a JavaServerPage (.jsp) to a movie *without* reloading the whole page with the movie in it?
Can a .swf request and fetch data generated on the fly from the server and display it without reloading the whole page?
This could be very cool indeed.
