A Download Link Gets Blocked By Sucurity Warning On IE7... Any Solution To Let People Download Without Having That?
Anyone can kindly tell me how to create a download link (for zipped file) in a flash site that allows IE7 users to download without getting blocked by security message?

The message says "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer".

Audio Download Link From Flash To Download Dialog
I am defining a URL to an MP3 file and then having a button use getURL onPress to open it. On my computer, this opens a dialog box to save the file.

However, on some computers, it opens the file in Quicktime in browser, I'm guessing just because Quicktime is configured to do so for them.

I want the link to always go to the regular save dialog box, so that it doesn't go away from my full screen Flash site, and so the user can download the file instead of just listening in browser.

Any ideas on how to do this, either by using a different link or a different method?

I know this is probably a very simple thing to do.
Basically, I'v got a .pdf file, that I want users to be able to download. How do I do this, so that when you click the link it prompts you to save it to your hard drive somewhere. I don't want the file to load in a new ie window. The file will be located on my server.

Is it possible to inset code that will download a file without leaving Flash Player and opening your web browser? I dont like how Flash Player closes everytime a download link is clicked.

Hi,
I am trying to set up two links, one which downloads a pdf file and one which downloads and rtf file. I would like for users to be able to download the files from the separate links without opening up the document.

I understand there are browser compatability and platform issues. Right now, on a Mac, when I download the file, I get a blank white window which asks me if I want to open or save the file to disk.

Does anyone have any light on this subject? Any help would be appreciated.

Download/link To PDFs?
I am a big newbie, so this may be a silly question, but how do you link a button in the SWF to a PDF? I have done:

on (release) {
getURL("../pdf/PDF_name.pdf", "_new");
}

But when I test the SWF, and click the button, a new browser window opens and get an error that says the file cannot be found. Both the SWF and the "pdf" folder are on the same directory level. Can I only link to html files? Any thoughts?

What I mean by Direct Download Link is that I want the viewer to be able to click on a link and it starts the download process afterwards. Any help would be appreciated. Create A Link To Download Something
I need to know how to make a link (using actionscript) to download a link to my resume. Please check out my page to know what I am talking about further (www.stellagifford.com).

Here is my code now, which is on its own layer on the main stage in an action frame:

this.word_btn.onPress = function() {
getURL("images/content/stellaresume_withletterhead.doc");
};

This is the code, linked to my button which is called "word_btn". I thought it worked a while back, but now it doesn't seem to be, and I have not touched the file in months. I need people to be able to download my resume' (word and pdf format), and would prefer that a new window does not pop up.

Let me know how I can fix it, this is kind of an urgent problem!!!!

I want to have a "force download" when someone clicks a link.

Basically all I want to happen is when someone clicks the "Download" button is that they get the "save as" option for a mp3.

Link From Button To Download A QT
I have a getURL command to a .mov file from a button. I want to link the button to the .mov but I want the browser to automatically recognize it as a download instead of opening Quicktime player and playing it in the browser. The current code I have is inside the button as:

So I am trying to make a button that when pushed will let the user download a file, and it works! Except it sends them to a webpage where it displays the image instead of just pulling up a dialoge box that says "Download file to where?"

I want to make it so people can download a mp3 from my website but I cannot figure out how to make this work in flash. How Do I Create A Download Link?
I have created a very simple Flash site that requires a link to a pdf file for download to the end user's computer. Now, this is quite possibly a really stupid question but, I need to know.

Do I need to do anything in particular to achieve this such as placement in a specific ftp folder or will I require a small snippet of either ActionScript with php, if so, how do I do that, or do I simply add a getURL() and leave the rest to luck?

Sorry if this sounds really dumb but the only stuff on ftp I can find refers to uploading.
